About Dogs of the Day

Dogs of the Day helps you find a rescue dog to adopt. Every dog on the site is waiting at a rescue or shelter in the US, with their photos, their story and how to reach the people looking after them. Search near your zip code or browse the dogs for adoption in your city.

Where the dogs come from

The dogs are listed by rescues and shelters across the US. We refresh the listings every morning and show dogs listed in the last six months that have photos and a description. When a rescue marks a dog as adopted, we celebrate them under Adopted dogs.

How to adopt

We're not a shelter and we don't handle adoptions ourselves. When you find a dog you love, contact their rescue directly: each dog's page has the rescue's phone number, website or Facebook page. A dog may have been adopted since the listing was last updated, so it's worth getting in touch soon.
