BIO: Buddy came from upstate NY when his owner had to go in a nursing home and the family member that took him kept him outside. We were contacted by another family member that was concerned about Buddy so yes, we said we’d take him into our program and find him a wonderful home.
Buddy was confused when he first came to us not knowing what was going on and why he was where he was but with time and patience, he settled in to be a great dog. He does well with other dogs but could be an only dog as well.
Our must haves for Buddy are:
That this be his last home
Fenced in yard
Someone home more than not
No apartments high rises or condos
If you fill these needs for Buddy then you are the lucky one to adopt him.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
