Phantom Poodle (toy)
DOB 10/19/2025
Intake weight: 4.6 pounds
Adoption fee: $300, which includes vetting, microchip
Benefactor Dog: When we have a popular dog, we dub them a “Benefactor Dog”. A Benefactor Dog will have an above average adoption fee. In other words, for OTHER dogs where the adoption fee is minimal or waived due to age, health or some other reason (although we’ve likely spent hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars) a Benefactor dog will help us somewhat make up the shortfall. If this dog has an above-average adoption fee, she/he is a Benefactor Dog.
Good with other dogs: yes
Cats: unknown – we do not have cats to be able to test
Vetting and other: CBC bloodwork; altered (neutered- bilateral cryptorchid), up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, fecal negative, on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped; (note: His initial bloodwork showed elevated liver values so he had to wait a bit to be neutered. He was placed on a liver supplement and repeat bloodwork showed his liver values have returned to normal, so he was ultimately neutered. Both testicles had not descended, so it was a more in depth surgery.
Health issues: Cider is a fragile little dog. He is very thin and a picky eater. We feed him multiple time a day. He does need a home that will monitor his food intake and make sure he's gaining weight. He also receives Nutri-Cal, a high-calorie nutritional supplement, to help support his calorie intake.
Temperament: shy at first, but very sweet.
Energy level: low
Groom needs: high maintenance; requires regular professional grooming, along with intermittent brushing to avoid matting. It's reported by his former owner that he did really well during a groom.
Biography: PLEASE keep in mind your AGE! Despite what you may want, we want YOU to outlive the pup… not the other way around! Puppies or young dogs (especially small-breed) can live 15-20 years!
Cider came in with Coraline (who has a pending adoption - and may be adopted by the time Cider gets adopted) as owner-surrenders. The owners work too much and the dogs were having to be kenneled for long lengths of time. They wanted better for them so they contacted us. Please no negative comments. Cider is a shy little guy, but warms up very quickly. He's not been used to being around other dogs other than Coraline so it took him a minute to figure it out... BUT once he did, he is a playful, happy little guy. It was reported to us by his owners that Cider is smart and independent; he was kenneled when the owners were away and travels well. Cider would love a nurturing home that will watch that he eats and experiment if he loses interest in the food he's been eating, which varies at the rescue because he is so picky. It will just take a patient and loving home to help him on his journey to a fuller figure. If that's you, we welcome your application!
