Katniss is one of those sweet, loving dogs who makes it very easy to fall in love with her.

For the past several weeks, much of her world has revolved around being an incredible mom to her five puppies. As the puppies become more independent, we are getting to see more and more of Katniss herself, and she has such a fun, affectionate personality.

Katniss loves human attention and would happily soak up as much as you're willing to give her. She also keeps a close eye on her foster sister, Tilly. If Tilly is getting pets, Katniss thinks she should be getting pets too. If Tilly gets a treat, Katniss is pretty sure there should be one with her name on it.

She and Tilly play very well together, and Katniss is even comfortable with Tilly playing with her puppies. Watching that relationship develop has been so much fun.

And this girl has some pretty impressive house manners!

She is house trained and will even ring the bells when she needs to go outside.

She walks nicely on a leash.

She knows sit and down.

She is very food motivated, which makes training with her easy and fun.

She loves little soft toys and will carry them around the house.

That last one might be my favorite. After spending so much time caring for her babies, she will pick up a little stuffed toy and gently carry it around almost as if it's another one of her puppies.

Katniss has spent the last several weeks being Mom. Now, as her puppies grow up and prepare for lives of their own, it's time for Katniss to have something that's all hers:

A family. A home. And people who will love her just as much as she has loved her five babies.

About Me:

My family of five and I came to Minnesota so we could have a chance at a good life. For the past six weeks, I’ve had one very important job: raising my puppies.

I’ve had a little help from my foster mom, but I’ve taken my job as Mom pretty seriously. Now my puppies are getting bigger and becoming more independent, which means I finally get to spend a little more time away from them and remember what it’s like to just be a dog.

And you know what? I really like it.

I love being near my foster mom and getting as much attention as possible. Unfortunately, I have to share her with Tilly, the dog who actually lives here. I suppose that’s okay. Tilly and I get along really well.

But if Tilly is getting attention, I would just like to point out that I am also available for attention.

There are cats here too. I really don’t mind them at all. I figured out pretty quickly that they are actually the bosses of the house, so we understand each other.

I also LOVE toys, but I have standards. I prefer them soft and on the smaller side. Those are perfect for carrying around with me.

After spending these weeks taking care of my babies, I’m starting to think about what comes next.

I would really love a home of my own and will be ready for my forever home after Oct 7th
. A home where I can stay close to my people. Where there are plenty of soft toys. Where someone will keep teaching me new things. And, most importantly, where there is lots and lots of attention waiting for me. I’ve spent the last six weeks making sure my puppies were loved and cared for.

Now I think I’m ready to find someone who will do the same for me.
