Sawyer
Puppy (6 months) · Male · Pug / Beagle / Mixed (short coat)

Sawyer is an adorable 5-month-old Puggle who is ready to discover what life as a beloved family member is all about! Recently released from a breeding program after aging out of being sold, Sawyer is slowly learning that the world isn't such a scary place. He currently weighs under 20 pounds and is expected to mature into a small-to-medium-sized dog, around 25-30 pounds.
Sawyer is the shyer of the two brothers and tends to be more reserved when meeting new people or experiencing new situations. Because of his limited exposure early in life, he's still figuring out that people can be trusted. He can be somewhat hand shy at times and may initially prefer to observe from a safe distance before joining in. The wonderful thing is that every day brings a little more confidence. We are seeing him grow braver, more curious, and more willing to engage with the people around him.
One of the quickest ways to Sawyer's heart is through treats! This sweet boy absolutely loves snacks and has recently started taking treats directly from his foster mom's hand, which is a huge milestone for him. He's also learned that good things happen in his crate and now happily heads inside when promised a treat. Watching him build trust and make these connections has been incredibly rewarding.
Sawyer loves being outside and would happily spend hours exploring the yard. The Beagle in him definitely shines through as he investigates every scent with his nose firmly planted on the ground. He also loves to play and is discovering just how much fun toys can be. In Sawyer's opinion, almost everything qualifies as a toy!
He absolutely adores other dogs and takes great comfort in their presence. Whether he's playing, snuggling, or simply following their lead, canine companionship helps him feel secure. Sawyer has always been with his brother, Dusty, so his new family should expect there may be an adjustment period as he learns to navigate life on his own. A confident canine companion in his future home could be a wonderful influence.
Sawyer is doing well with his training and is very food motivated, making him eager to learn. He has actually progressed a little further with leash training than his brother Dusty and is showing great potential, but he will still need continued practice and encouragement as he gains confidence in new environments.
Housetraining is improving every day, but adopters should expect to continue working with him as he settles into a new home and routine. Consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement will help him continue making great progress.
Sawyer may need a little extra time to fully blossom, but behind those soulful eyes is a sweet, gentle puppy who wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. He is already making tremendous progress, and with a patient family that understands his background, we know he is going to grow into an amazing companion. Watching him discover the joys of being a dog has been one of the most rewarding parts of fostering him.
And honestly... just look at that face! ❤️
Sawyer is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed.
His adoption fee is $475.
To help keep our dogs safe, we require a martingale collar at the time of adoption. If you don't already have one, Pixie Mamas has them available for $10. ❤️
