Alfie is 6 month old 4 pound Yorkie (possibly mixed with Poodle) who is looking for his forever home. He is located in Arkansas and only available to Arkansas adopters. He is a bouncy, happy little guy who enjoys cuddling. He typically is a quiet puppy and sleeps soundly and quietly in his crate. He is UTD on vaccines and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. He is not yet neutered due to have one testicle not descended yet. Our vet wasn't comfortable doing the neuter just yet due to his size. His adopter will need to bring him to our vet once he's a little older and a little bigger to have the neuter done.

7. Taylor
Puppy · Female · Australian Shepherd / Mixed

10/24 TaylorThis sweet little girl was found as a stray. We had hoped an owner would come forward to claim her, but no such luck. She is about 3 months old, and we think she is possibly australian shepherd mix. This little girl is so friendly and sweet, and full of life! She is great with other dogs, cats, kids, and goats. She is working on house training and leash manners, but still has a ways to go to have these mastered. But she's still a baby and has a lot to learn. She has great potential to be part of a family!
She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Located in Arkansas, but transport is available.

8. Noli
Puppy · Male · Boston Terrier / Mixed

10/22/26 We need a foster or adopter for Noli ASAP. In New England. He was adopted from us as a puppy, but is now being returned. This is not the fault of Noli. Unfortunately his owner seems to be dealing with some severe depression and not able to care of Noli. The owner of her home has asked that Noli be rehomed. We can go into further detail in email so as not to share too much of his owner's personal info out in the open. Cannoli is 9mo old and about 40 lbs. A DNA test on his sibling confirmed he is a Boston Terrier mix but please take note he is larger than a Boston. He is good with other dogs and tolerates cats well.

He's a sweet, good boy. He needs to work on house training-unfortunately it sounds like due to his owner's depression, she does not take him outside when he needs to go and therefore he is having accidents. He is fully vetted. Please help. These are the most recent pics that were sent to us. This is very URGENT. Please reach out if you can help. More detailed info on Noli below.

Noli's owner had him enrolled in some training classes to help him be the best well rounded boy he can be. Here is info from the trainer:"Noli is very social with people and loves being part of whatever is happening. He is highly food motivated, learns new patterns quickly, and bonds closely with his person. He settles well once he has had a chance to take in a new person or place. During his consultation he was able to calm down and fall asleep while we talked, even with a visitor in the home. What he has learned: -Name check-ins: he turns back to his person when his name is called, and this was one of his fastest skills.-Hand target (touch): he touches a hand with his nose on cue.-Sit: offered often and reliably at home.-Greeting routine: person arrives, he says hello, then he comes back to his person for another activity. This is trained and still needs practice with new people.-Loose leash basics: he understands that a tight leash stops the walk and a loose leash keeps it going. He pulls when something exciting catches his attention, mostly smells and people.-Settling on a tether or leash setup indoors: he settles and has fallen asleep in this setup, and he has put himself to bed on his own.-Crate: he will go in willingly with a chew or food toy. He needs a larger crate than the one he started with, big enough to stand, turn, and stretch out on his side.

10. Nelda
Young · Female · Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed

10/22/26 Meet Nelda! Poodle mix, about 8 months old. Nelda's mom was dumped on an older Veteran who did the best he could. Unfortunately another dog was dumped on him. Neither were spayed/neutered, so you guessed it...a litter of puppies. Mom appears to be a pit mix or bulldog mix and dad appears to be some sort of doodle. There's no telling what kind of doodle he is, sometimes doodles end up being a mix of many breeds. The man who has mom and dad reached out to us recently for help with finding homes for the puppies (now about 8 months old) and to help get everyone spayed/neutered. So here we are! This man did the best he could and has provided safety, shelter, food and water but was not able to let all the puppies live inside.
Read more about Nelda
Nelda is very sweet and good with other dogs. She does tend to boss her sister around. She has not been around cats or kids. We do believe she would be fine with kids. She seems very gentle and friendly.
Nelda has started at the Paws in Prison program this week. This is a wonderful 8 week program where each dog is paired with inmate trainers. The dogs live at the prison with the inmates. The inmates work on the basics with the dogs (house training, crate training, leash walking etc.) as well as basic commands and sometimes some tricks! They meet weekly with a certified dog trainer. This is an amazing program! When the dogs graduate they have all the skills needed to pass the Canine Good Citizen test.
Nelda will graduate from Paws in Prison the week of 12/14. She can be pulled from the program sooner if her adopter wants her sooner. No matter what, we hope to have an adopter ready and waiting for her by 12/14.
From Paws in Prison:
"Whoa now, we need to pause and marvel at who just walked in the door! Her name is Nelda, and she’s the gorgeous daughter of a dog that was dumped on a veteran’s property. She is friendly, sweet, and has a touch of bossiness to her. That’s probably directly tied to the wired hair on her. Wired hair and sassy seem to go hand in hand! Nelda is a mixed breed…we’re talking a buffet of breeds. And she’s adorable. From the extra fancy feet to the scruffy face to the coppery eyes, Nelda is a masterpiece. She’s uniquely beautiful. This baby is 8 months old. No weight yet, but my guess is 35-40 pounds. Two insider tips…first, Nelda is gonna light the world on fire with her smarts and abilities. She has all the makings of a standout student. And second, she has an equally amazing sister named Cammie who is also available for adoption."
She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

We believe he is a Lab mix. We don’t know who/what the parents were. He’s about 14 weeks old. Info from his foster mom-

He's very smart and knows sit, wait, and is doing great at coming when he is called. He's very curious about everything around him and loves to cuddle on your lap and give kisses. We've started taking him on small walks and he's getting the hang of being on a leash.

17. Bear
Young · Male · Labrador Retriever / Mixed

10/17/26 Bear was adopted from us when he was a little baby. He is now about 9-10 months old and he is in need of a new home. Bear is energetic and kind hearted. He loves other dogs and kids. He would greatly benefit from a structured home, with a family who is willing to invest some time in training him. His current family has been unsuccessful at house training him, and he has a habit of jumping up in excitement, which poses a fall risk to the grandparents who visit frequently. I believe these issues are related to not getting enough exercise, not enough structure, and just him being an adolescent puppy who is still learning and growing.
Read more about Bear
I believe in a few months, some these issues will resolve but in the meantime he needs a new home with a family who will be patient but will also take the lead with training him and giving him lots of exercise. He is leash trained and fully vetted. In New England.

18. Clara Belle
Puppy · Female · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed

⭐️Clara Belle needs some SHARES!! She is about 5 months old. When dogs hit 6 months old, they become much harder to find homes for. The 6-12 month age range is not popular among adopters. PLEASE share to help her find a home!
She’s in New England.
She is a little shy but sweet and seems like a smart pup. She has lived with cats and kids and does fine with both, but we would be hesitant to place her in a home with cats. Although she is fine with them now, I fear that as she grows, her herding instinct (she has some Australian Cattle dog in her) may be too much for cats to tolerate. She should go to a home with older kids, for the same reason.
Read more about Clara Belle
If she develops the tendency to herd, this can be hard for toddler age kids to understand and can viewed as "biting."
She is a medium to high energy pup. She is on the go making it hard to get good pictures She sleeps most of the night but wakes up a few times. She loves to play and absolutely adores Nova (her Great Dane foster sister). She weighs maybe 20-25 pounds and you would think she was the same size as Nova with the way they play. She barks a little bit. She has nipped a few times when she is getting excited and playing. Again, she’s not being mean, but it’s that herding instinct.
She will cuddle when she is ready to settle in for the night. She is making progress with learning to walk on a leash. She is also working on house training, she can go about 6 hours alone at home before having an accident (her foster mom works long hours some days). She’s a sweet girl with a dash of sass!
Clara Belle needs a home with a family who is committed to giving her plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. She is a very beautiful little girl and has great potential in the right home.
Her story of how she came into rescue- She was being given away in a parking with the caption "I'm feeding her one last meal. If no one takes her by the time she's finished, I'm dumping her somewhere because she's not going home with me." Turns out the guy is a backyard breeder and his female got out and came back pregnant with mixed breed puppies. He was mad that he couldn't sell the puppies and make some quick money. Thankfully a Good Samaritan took her in.
She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. In New England.

19. Subaru
Young · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Hound / Mixed

Meet Subaru, or Roo, as we like to call her. My husband has nicknamed her "Super Roo". Subaru is approximately 10 months old and currently weighs 36lbs. She is a little skinny so she may still do a little growing. We have no idea what breed she is. Likely a mix of many. Subaru is a mix of a chill dog and lots of fun. She loves to play and wrestle with her foster siblings but also loves a good nap when everyone is resting. She would probably do best with dogs that also love to play. She still has puppy energy and doesn't always understand when another dog is done playing, but she is learning. She loves to pounce and paw at her playmates, loves playing in water and playing with tug toys.
Read more about Subaru
She does get a little vocal while playing tug, but that's just her being a dog. She loves toys. Her favorites are chew toys. She would probably love stuffies but I think they would get destroyed very quickly . Subaru is kennel trained. She does whine when she is left alone in her kennel while we are away. But, I think she will grow out of this. She doesn't whine in her kennel while she is sleeping at night when we are home. It feels like Subaru has lived at our house her whole life because she learned our routine really quickly and sleeps in and stays quiet until we are up in the morning. She hasn't had any accidents in her kennel but has had a couple of potty accidents in the house. So we think she is really close to being potty trained but we are still working on it. Subaru is still learning puppy manners. She will currently jump to put her front paws on you to get your attention, but we are working on this and we are currently working on learning to sit. We haven't seen any food aggression towards humans or animals, she takes treats very gently from your hand and she seems to ignore my outdoor cat. I'm not sure how she would do with an indoor cat because she would probably try to play with it and most cats wouldn't understand that. She does like to bark at new things when she is confused by them, like sheep and cats, but you just have to reassure her that these things are ok. She takes direction and correction from humans and dogs very well. She is eager to please and learn. I already love this sweet girl so much. She is the best! A couple funny things I've noticed about Subaru are...she doesn't seem to like pumpkin and she is still trying to figure out if she likes peanut butter. Things my dogs love, but she eats around the pumpkin on her food and will only lick a little peanut butter out of a bowl .
Subaru is located in Arkansas, but transport to the New England area is available. Adopter must be able to pick up on Saturdays in MD, PA, NJ, or CT.For questions or more info, email apps.aasr@gmail.com. 20. Roxy
Adult · Female · Staffordshire Bull Terrier / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed

Roxy had a hard start in life. We don't want to focus too much on that, because her future looks BRIGHT! But, her story deserves to be told, so here we are. Roxy came into a municipal shelter as a baby. I wasn't given any info on how she came to the shelter so I'm not sure if she was found as a stray or owner surrendered. What I do know is that her poor little ears were absolutely mangled. Again, I was not given much info, but from the photos, it looked like someone tried to give her a DIY ear crop. This is hard to think about, but it happens more than any of us animal lovers want to believe. Her ears were so mangled and infected that they had to be amputated. So she doesn't have much in the ears department any more, but she makes up for that a million times over with the love and affection that she so willingly gives. So that's her past and now let's focus on her future. Roxy is needs a home. It's as simple as that. Yes, she is a pit bull. No, she won't eat your children. This compact little girl is full of nothing but love, despite whatever hell she endured in her past. She holds no grudges. Roxy LOVES other dogs of all sizes. Before she went to her current foster home, she was fostered with multiple puppies who she ADORED. In her current foster home, she is with several other medium size dogs and she is great with them. She also enjoys going to the dog park and making lots of new friends. See video in comments. Roxy is young at about 8 months old. She is what I would call a "pocket pittie." She only weighs about 30-35 lbs and won't get much bigger than that. She spent many weeks at an overcrowded shelter that has a habit of leaving dogs in filthy kennels without any time outside for potty breaks or enrichment. But now that has busted out of there, she is learning to potty outside and is making great progress with that. She loves to sleep in the bed with her foster family, and really hopes to find a forever home that will allow her to continue that bonding experience with them. Roxy has a lot of love to give, and she's not picky who she gives it to! She just really needs a family to call her own. She is not shy or timid, she is friendly and happy all the time, with everyone she meets. She is fully vetted.
In New England.

21. Chewy
Adult · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed

9/5/26 We cant figure out why this adorable little guy is still not adopted. He is absolutely precious! Sadly, his dad passed away unexpectedly. His mom had to move in with family who would not allow Chewy to come along. Chewy is a good little boy. He is friendly and playful with people and other dogs. This is what Chewy's foster says about him:
Meet Chewy. He is as mischievous and sweet all rolled up in to one as he looks. he definitely has human-like eyes. We believe he is a terrier mix but we only have his looks to go by. 1-2 years old and about 15 lbs. He is housebroken. He is not a fan of the crate and will voice his objection but settles after about 15 minutes.
Read more about Chewy
He is obsessed with my cat and truly thinks she is his. He chases but doesn't hurt her. He really likes to play with dogs so ideally an active playmate would be best. He seems to prefer men over women but he really likes anyone who is nice to him. He is ready to find a home of his own! He is fully vetted.
Chewy is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in MD, PA, NJ, or CT on Saturdays.

While he prefers hanging out near his favorite human most of all, he loves running around in the yard and making sure his place is protected. He loves to ride in the car. He has not shown any interest in the pool at his foster mom’s house so far.
Read more about Leo
Leo currently lives with two other Rotties, one male and one female, and his foster mom. They all get along well unless his canine friends try to take his treats or favorite ball. Leo seems to like the companionship of other dogs but would do just as well with an owner who has lots of time to devote to him. He’s looking for people to trust but meets everyone with curiosity and a tail wag. Having experienced neglect in the past, Leo is very food driven. At 90 lbs., he’s at a good weight and some care will need to be taken that he isn’t allowed to routinely overeat.
Leo is a gentleman in the house, never having accidents and not chewing on anything except his own toys, even if out of his crate unsupervised. He behaves pretty well on a leash but will need work on that. He does know basic commands and learns household routines quickly.

26. Blaze
Adult · Male · Black Mouth Cur / Labrador Retriever / Mixed

6/23 Still available!
2/22 This handsome boy is Blaze. He was rescued in February 2025 from a litter of 10 born under an abandoned house/shed. Animal Control picked up the sire and mother dog and 9 of the pups. They were all euthanized the same day. Not because they did anything wrong, but because the shelter was full. Blaze was the only one rescued. He has been fostered in a home since his rescue. He has socialized with the teenage boys in the neighborhood and interacted with them playing ball as a puppy. He has been taught to sit on command and fetch his ball. He resides in a kennel on the patio and has a fenced backyard for exercise.
Read more about Blaze
He gets along well with the small Yorkshire terrier in the adjacent fenced yard. Blaze has had minimal leash training due to his strength. He is really just too strong for his foster to have good control of him. He is familiar with a harness and leash, he just needs some training to not pull and to be more gentle. Blaze loves to play ball and chase squirrels and birds out of the yard. This young, sweet boy desperately wants affection and training. He is smart and eager to learn, he just hasnt been given many opportunities so far. He responds exceptionally well to any affection offered to him. He would crawl in your lap and snuggle you for hours if allowed to. He is moderately energetic and craves mental stimulation. He would do best with an active family who will give him the physical and mental stimulation he needs. We believe he would love kids, but he would probably be best with older, sturdy kids, only because he doesn't know his size and strength and could easily knock over a little one. Blaze is 1 year old and weighs 62 lbs. He may still grow a little more, but probably won't exceed 75 lbs once mature. He really just needs a chance. In the right hands, Blaze will be an incredible dog. We do not know his breed for sure. He is likely a mix of many breeds.
He is neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Blaze is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays.

27. Dusty
Adult · Male · Husky

9/20 Still looking for a home!
6/28 Courtesy post: Dusty is a 2.5 year old neutered male Husky looking for his forever home. Located in New England. He was taken in by a kind family when his owners lost their home. They were living in a motor home and lost heat in the middle of January, so they deemed it best to no longer keep their dogs. The family who currently has Dusty took in all 3 dogs and found homes for 2 of them but Dusty remains. Please share!
Read more about Dusty
Dusty loves kids! He currently lives with other dogs but it is recommended for him to meet other dogs first because he can be selective of who he likes and doesn’t like. He's been known to tease the other dogs in his foster home. He has never gone after the other dogs but teases them (one in particular). In his previous home he lived with 2 other dogs. He is also fostered with a lizard and two macaws. He does not bother the cats or birds but will eat their food!
He loves to hike! Loves jeep rides with the wind in his big old head! He’s an overall perfect dog. He’s crate trained but sleeps with us. He will howl!
Please do your homework on the breed, they aren't for everyone!

29. Troubadour Tru
Young · Male · Labrador Retriever / Black Mouth Cur / Mixed

6/22 Meet Troubadour, better known as Tru!
Tru is a young mixed-breed boy with a heart of gold and a story of incredible resilience. When he first arrived at our rescue, he had been severely neglected. He was painfully underweight and had spent much of his life confined to a crate. Despite everything he's been through, Tru has never stopped loving people.
Over the past several months, Tru has blossomed into a happy, affectionate, and playful young dog. He's been working hard on his crate and potty training and continues to make fantastic progress. Considering the life he came from, we're incredibly proud of how far he's come.
Read more about Troubadour Tru
Tru's favorite thing in the world is being with his people. He soaks up attention, loves affection, and forms strong bonds with those who show him kindness. At just about a year old, he still has that adorable puppy face that will melt your heart—and the goofy puppy antics that will keep you smiling every day. We do not know his breed. The website makes us pick a breed when listing dogs, but he is most likely a mix of many breeds.
Tru gets along well with most dogs and tends to do best with companions his size or smaller. He prefers neutered friends and isn't particularly fond of much larger dogs or intact males.
He is currently about 60 lbs and around a year old.
Now healthy, thriving, and ready for his next chapter, Tru is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and searching for a loving forever family. All he needs is someone willing to give him the patience, stability, and love he's always deserved.
Could you be the happy ending Tru has been waiting for?
Located in Arkansas. He is available to adopters here in Arkansas, but also available to New England adopters with transport available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NJ, or CT on Saturdays.

30. Santa
Young (1 year 11 months) · Male · Rottweiler (short coat)

Meet Santa — the Christmas miracle
Santa came into the world unwanted. When he stumbled onto our property last Christmas, he was barely hanging on — skin and bones, severely emaciated and dehydrated, covered in fleas. Around his neck was a thick, filthy rope pulled so tight it had cut into him, leaving scarring that has taken months to heal. He had chewed clean through that rope himself, fighting to free himself just to survive. And of all the days to come scratching at a stranger's door, he chose Christmas — so that's the name he earned: Santa, the gift none of us saw coming.
Read more about Santa
From that broken beginning, what he's become is nothing short of remarkable. He arrived heartworm positive, dangerously underweight, and battling a nasty respiratory infection, and he's spent every month since in foster care doing the hard work of getting healthy. Through all of it — every vet visit, every setback — he never stopped being sweet, trusting, and gentle. He came out the other side with his nub wagging.
These days, Santa is exactly what you'd hope a young Rottweiler would be: a big, sweet, affectionate boy with a playful streak. He's got energy to burn when the fun starts, but he gases out quick — a good romp and he's ready to flop down and relax. His happy place is the pool: he loves stretching out on the step to cool off, and he's even started venturing into the water (his swimming's a work in progress, but he's game).
He's a ball dog through and through — give him a ball to chase and carry around and he's a happy guy. He also does wonderfully with other dogs; he's playful and a great fit with our own pack, so a confident canine sibling would suit him well.
But more than anything, Santa is pure affection.
He's got what we call a smooshy face — super squishy and sweet — and he knows how to use it. He'll do the classic Rottie lean, putting his full weight against the people he loves, and he wants nothing more than to be in your arms or laid against your side getting pet. A ball and a spot next to you out in the sun is, hands down, his favorite thing in the world.

Adopting a dog in Lonoke County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
