1. Juniper
Adult · Female · Siberian Husky (medium coat) · 11 mi from Lowell

Hello, folks! I'm Juniper. I'm pretty new to rescue, but so far I'm doing great. I like my new fur friends, and playtime is the best! I've been a good houseguest and been minding my habits well. The only thing I'm not a fan of is car rides. Yikes! Not my thing! I'm sure I'll get used to this place pretty quickly, but I'd like to find my furever home. Maybe with some fur-siblings who'd like a playmate? If you'd like to see how I'd fit in your pack, then put in an application with Juniper on it!

2. Tahoe
Adult · Male · Siberian Husky / Mixed · 11 mi from Lowell

Hi, I'm Tahoe! I'm big and stylish like a Tahoe SUV! I can be your luxurious, cozy snuggler or you can put me into 4 paw drive while we hike a trail together! I'm an all around good boy who loves treats and being praised! I'm good with kids, cats and other dogs.
I am currently recovering from a skin infection. I can't wait to be healed up and looking and feeling better! It turns out I'm allergic to fleas so I'll need to stay on an oral flea prevention and Zenralia from now on to keep me healthy and itch-free.
If you're ready to drive home with a sweet, beautiful husky, fill out an application and mention me, Tahoe!

3. Tacoma
Adult · Male · Siberian Husky (medium coat) · 11 mi from Lowell

It's fun times ahead with Tacoma! Ready for this? I'm kennel trained, good with all size dogs AND people and LOVE to be outside! Oh, the breeze!
I was rescued and started medicine right away to get me healthy. I had a tough life. I'm SO ready for the wind in my fur and a person to love. Since I was found roaming my foster parents watch the front door. (eye roll)
I don't jump up on you or try to jump the fence! I'm docile and sweet. ...And I'm really coming out of my shell now that I'm feeling better. I should warn you, I PULL on a leash. I'm just SO excited that I feel better and we're outside. Think you could work with me?
Put it in four wheel drive and come meet me! Apply to meet Tacoma!

5. Frank
6 Months · Male · Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 42 mi from Lowell

Meet Frank, a 6-month-old bundle of cuteness who is convinced that life is meant for playing, snuggling, and making new friends!
Frank and his brothers, Jones and Wright, came into rescue from an overcrowded property, but those days are behind them! Frank is making up for lost time by enjoying all the things a puppy should—wrestling with his brothers, exploring his surroundings, and finding the perfect spot to crash when his puppy battery runs out.
We suspect Frank has a little low-rider breed in his family tree, and those adorable short legs just make him that much more irresistible!
But there's more to Frank than his cute looks. He's a loving boy who enjoys human attention just as much as playtime. He's ready for a family who will teach him new things, include him in their adventures, and show him what being a cherished family member is all about.
Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at...diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744.

6. Wright
5 Months 28 Days · Male · Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 42 mi from Lowell

At just 6 months old, Wright has already come a long way! What started as a rough beginning has turned into a beautiful transformation. This sweet boy has blossomed into a happy, playful, and affectionate puppy who is ready to find his forever family!
Wright loves spending his days romping around with his brothers, Jones and Frank, getting into typical puppy shenanigans, and then curling up for a well-deserved nap. When he's not busy playing, he's looking for someone to shower him with attention and affection!
And can we talk about those adorable little legs?! Wright appears to have some "low rider" breed mixed in, giving him an extra dose of cuteness with his shorter legs and longer body!
Wright is ready to leave his rough past behind and start his next chapter with a family who will love him as much as he'll love them. He's got plenty of puppy energy, a heart full of love, and a whole lot of personality packed into those little legs!
Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at...diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744.

7. Joker & Jedi
Adult (2 years) · Male · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 42 mi from Lowell

Joker and Jedi are two brothers, estimated to be around 2 years old, who have been through more together than any dogs should have to endure. They were abandoned and left to survive on their own, relying on each other every step of the way. We believe Joker was even hit by a car during that time—but through it all, these two brothers never left each other’s side.
Today, their story looks very different. Safe at the rescue, Joker and Jedi have shown us just how incredible they are. Despite everything they’ve experienced, they are outgoing, loving, and full of joy. In fact, their friendly personalities are so wonderful that they now help us socialize other dogs and show them that people—and life—can be pretty great.
These brothers love spending time outside exploring and enjoying the day, but with all that fur, they know when it’s time to head inside! Once the temperatures rise, you’ll find them happily stretched out in the air conditioning, relaxing with their favorite humans.
Joker and Jedi are the definition of resilience. They survived together, healed together, and now they’re ready for the best chapter of their story—a life filled with love, comfort, and a family of their own.
After everything they’ve been through, these boys deserve nothing less than happily ever after.
Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at...diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744.

How to adopt from Sheltie Shack Rescue, Shell Knob, Missouri
Our Process Our emphasis at Sheltie Shack Rescue is placed on the quality of our adoptions rather than quantity of adoptions completed. We are not in the business of selling pets and as such we are not a cash and carry rescue. When we refer to a "fur♥ever home" we expect a lifelong commitment to the adoptive dog you have chosen to adopt. Our adoption process is designed to help carefully match a pet with both your lifestyle and well as their individual needs in mind. This can take some time, but using this method has produced a high success rate of happy adoptions. Our goal is to have this be a happy and certainly the final happy home for our sheltie. Adopting a New Companion If you are applying for one of our dogs from out of state, please note that we DO NOT SHIP OUR DOGS. If you are truly interested in adopting from Sheltie Shack Rescue you must be willing to make the trip to meet us and your potential new family member. We expect the entire family to come, including any other current canine companions, as there is no other way to assure compatibility of all family members. We have had many successful out of state adoptions and encourage you to apply if you can comply with these travel requirements. We do not place our dogs in homes where current pets are not properly vaccinated, not on heartworm preventative or not spayed or neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so or the dog is actively being shown in conformation. We only place do
Adopting a dog in Lowell
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
