3. Kirby

Young (1 year 2 months) · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 24 mi from Ontario

Kirby is a 14 month old young gentleman who is simply an all around incredible pup.

He is polite, obedient and super smart.

This good boy really loves his doggie friends and would LOVE to join a stable pack or even just have another K9 companion.

He is the kind of dog that you can trust in just about any situation.

We have no idea why such a good boy found himself without a home, but we can certainly attest to the fact that it’s their loss. As the old saying goes, “one man’s trash, is another man’s treasure. “

Whether he's making new friends, playing with his buddies, or soaking up attention from his humans, Boris is simply happy to be included.

Read more about Boris

Like any fun-loving pup, Boris can get a little rambunctious during playtime. He gets excited, throws his whole heart into having fun, and sometimes forgets just how big and strong he is. With continued guidance and an active home, he'll continue to grow into the wonderful companion he's already becoming.

Right now, Boris receives plenty of love and time outside of his crate in rescue, but we know he'll truly flourish in a home where he can be part of the family's everyday life. 7. Mishka

Adult (2 years 2 months) · Female · Cane Corso Mastiff (medium coat) · 24 mi from Ontario

Mishka is a 2 year old gorgeous Cane Corso. She is a little insecure when she first meets new friends, but once she trusts that she is safe, she is a giant baby.

This big moose loves deeply and gets soo excited when her favorite people get anywhere near her. If she hears you wake up in the morning, her giant club of a tail starts thumping the ground while she lays there waiting for her morning huggies.

She then goes into full body wiggle mode because she can’t contain her excitement that her favorite person is right there with her. She loves to run in the yard and she is a total cuddle bug.

Adopting a large dog in Ontario

Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.

Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
