4. Betsy
Senior · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Terrier / Mixed · 23 mi from Stamford

Name: BetsyAge: 9.5Current Weight: 65Rescued from: Texas*Adoption fee: $400Meet Betsy; also known as Betz Betz, Da Betz, Betz and quite possibly your new favorite potato. Some dogs make friends wherever they go. Betsy has practically made a career of it.She has visited nursery schools to help teach little ones about rescue dogs, spent time at multiple schools and children’s camps, and attended a large childhood cancer event. Through it all, Betsy has been a social, affectionate rockstar; making friends, collecting love, and showing people just how wonderful a rescue dog can be.That’s the Betsy we know and love.
Read more about Betsy
A sweet, friendly and very social girl who loves people, has been wonderful with children of all ages, and loves other dogs. She’ll make you smile just by being herself. And when her social calendar clears? She’s perfectly happy to return to her other calling: being a potato. Oh and Betsy LOVES to give kisses. Lots and lots of kisses if you will let her. Now a senior, Betsy has experienced far too much bouncing around through sad circumstances. A dog who has brought so much happiness to others deserves one final, wonderful home where she can settle in, feel secure, and spend her remaining years being someone’s cherished girl. There is one important part of Betsy’s story her future family needs to understand. Her family must be committed to preventing escapes, using a secure fence or leash, and carefully managing doors, gates, and transitions. Betsy has bitten in the past ( thankfully nothing too scary or serious) when she escaped and was running loose. This is serious, even though it is very different from the affectionate, easygoing dog we know in everyday life. When safely contained, ther are not any concerns. Her wonderful history with people and children matters but we want to be forthcoming regarding her bites. We want a family who understands both, and who can give her the structure and security she needs while appreciating the incredibly special dog she is.Betsy has also done very well during introductions to calm, stationary cats. Her response to cats who run or dart around remains uncertain, so a home with cats would need further consideration.Somewhere out there is someone with a soft spot for a senior potato, a secure home, and room in their heart for Da Betz. She’s spent so much of her life making friends. Now she deserves a family who stays. Betsy cannot be adopted or fostered into the state of Connecticut. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs

18. Beetle
Young (2 years 10 months) · Male · American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 24 mi from Stamford

Meet Beetle!
Beetle is a handsome, 2-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix weighing about 60 lbs, and he is truly one of a kind. He’s neutered, house trained, and an absolute love with people.
Beetle is a big, lovable goofball who has a way of stealing everyone’s heart. He joins his foster family on walks to and from school and has become quite the local celebrity. Families, kids, and even crossing guards have fallen for him—and some people now bring him treats! He loves attention and happily shows off his “paw” and “down” skills for an audience. One person even dubbed him the “Prince of River Edge.”
Read more about Beetle
When he’s calm, Beetle is a total love bug. He is extremely people-oriented, loves being close to his humans, and enjoys soaking up affection. He can also be a hilarious character.
Beetle is making progress with his leash skills. He has shown some reactivity toward other dogs while on walks, but his foster family is working hard with him, and they are seeing improvement. They are practicing “stop,” “sit,” and “look,” teaching Beetle to check in with his people for direction. He is now looking at his foster much more frequently on walks and has even started sitting and looking up for guidance without being asked.
Because Beetle is a strong, 60-lb dog, a home with older children would be best. His adopters should be prepared to continue working with him on leash skills, basic training, and appropriate behavior around other dogs. He has lived with another dog previously, but they were not bonded.
And while Beetle is very much a 60-lb bully-breed dog with a big personality, he doesn’t particularly enjoy getting wet—rain and sprinklers are definitely not his favorite things—and while he tolerates a bath, he wouldn’t exactly call it a spa day.
Beetle is funny, affectionate, smart, and full of personality. He needs a family willing to give him structure, consistency, continued training, and plenty of love. In return, you’ll have a loyal companion who will keep you laughing and make friends wherever he goes.
Beetle’s owner was no longer able to care for him, and he is now looking for the forever home where he can continue to grow, learn, and be the wonderful dog we know he can be.

Sweet Ann is an adorable 8-month-old, 35 lb girl who is ready to find her forever family!
Born on February 9, 2026, Ann is still a puppy, and her personality continues to blossom as she settles into her new foster home. After about two weeks with her foster, we're learning even more about this sweet girl!
Ann's affectionate side is really shining through. She loves to give kisses, cuddle up with her people, and sit in your lap. While she enjoys her independence, she also loves being close to the people she trusts.
Read more about Ann
One thing Ann REALLY loves is the company of another young dog! When her brother, Fred, visited this week, the two played continuously in the backyard for about 30 minutes. Ann would do wonderfully in a home with a young canine companion who could be her playmate and help keep her entertained.
Like any puppy, Ann is still learning and growing. She isn't a fan of the crate just yet and tries her hardest to get out, so she'll need patience and positive reinforcement as she learns that her crate can be a safe, comfortable place. She's also in her teething stage, so plenty of appropriate chew toys will be a must!

Zip is 5 months old & 35 pounds. I love to zip around the yard and roll in the grass. The others try to catch me, but I’m as fast as lightning! Shake a treat bag, though, and I’ll come racing back at top speed with my tail wagging. When I’m not showing off my zoomies, I’m happy to wrestle with my siblings, play with toys, or soak up all the attention I can get. I love people and am always ready for a cuddle after a busy day of fun. If you’re looking for a playful, happy-go-lucky pup who will fill your home with laughter, adventures, and unconditional love, I can’t wait to meet you! Zip is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.

Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. Apply to adopt at cprdogs.com This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Adopting a dog with children in Stamford
Bring the whole family to meet the dog before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the dog behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the dog come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the dog alone while it's eating or sleeping. Give the dog a bed or crate of their own to retreat to, and always supervise young children with a new dog.
Relaxed adult dogs are often a better match for young children than puppies, which jump up, nip and chew while they learn.
