3. Freya Rose
Adult · Female · Great Dane · 94 mi from Shreveport

FREYA ROSE IS READY FOR HER FOREVER FAMILYLocation: San Antonio, TXDOB: 8/22/2022If you've ever wanted a dog who will love you with her entire heart, please meet Freya Rose. ❤️Freya is a beautiful, big-hearted Velcro dog who believes personal space is highly overrated. Her favorite place is wherever her people are—on the couch, in bed, beside you, or preferably on you. She may be a big girl, but in her mind she's just a tiny little ladybug who needs ALL the cuddles. And after the life she's had, she deserves every single one.Freya has a history of abuse, but somehow she came through it with an incredible capacity for love.
Read more about Freya Rose
She is affectionate, happy, curious, and absolutely devoted to her humans. She doesn't like being alone and would love a home where someone is around most of the time. A few things about Freya:❤️ Loves people and attention Great with dogs Very curious about cats—she may want to chase them because she thinks they're fun, but she has shown no aggression Best with older kids because she is a BIG puppy who doesn't know her own size Housebroken Leash trained Good in the car, although she can get nervous and appreciates reassurance️ Crate trained, but she'd much rather be with her people Happy with backyard exercise and occasional walks️ Professional couch potato VERY motivated by food—and may occasionally believe your dinner is actually hers Doesn't mind baths Ridiculously photogenic A total sweetheartFreya's long legs move FAST, so walks can sometimes turn into speed-walking competitions. And despite being a large dog, she firmly believes she belongs in your lap.She also has the cutest little nub tail, complete with her own "blinker" that goes off whenever she's excited. Freya doesn't need an incredibly active home. She'd be perfectly happy hanging out with her people, enjoying a backyard, taking a walk, and then spending the rest of the day snuggled beside you. What she DOES need is a family who understands that this girl has been through a lot and deserves patience, consistency, security, and an enormous amount of love. She has spent enough of her life knowing what she shouldn't have had to know. Now she deserves to know what home feels like. Freya Rose is ready for her rainbow ending. She is not looking for a perfect family. She's looking for her family. And once she chooses you, be prepared—you may never pee alone again. ❤️Please share Freya's story. Her person is out there. ===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Brulee (female)
Intake date: 10/24/2026
Cairn Terrier
7 years old
Intake weight: 13.8 pounds
Adoption fee: $200, which includes vetting, microchip
Good with other dogs: yes
Cats: yes, she lived in a home with several cats, including ducks and chickens as well
Read more about Brulee
Vetting and other: altered (spayed), dental performed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, fecal negative, on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped
Health issues: none observed.
Temperament: timid at first but once she warms up, she is very sweet and friendly - we've yet to hear her bark.
Energy level: low
Groom needs: medium maintenance; she's got wiry hair that just needs brushing from time to time, along with a bath.
Biography: Brulee came in with Queso. We were contacted by the out-of-state sister of a woman and her husband who were arrested (details will be given to an approved adopter once they are placed for adoption). It's kind of a long story how she ended up contacting us, but she thought one of the six dogs was adopted from us. Come to find out, that wasn't the case. We took in a stray in January, posted the dog on social media and the dog was reclaimed by the couple. So, the dog wasn't adopted from us, but reclaimed from us. When dogs are reclaimed, we have them sign a reclamation form and in that form it states that if they ever want to rehome the dog, to please contact us first. So, this is how we ended up involved. Nevertheless, the couple gave the sister permission to find places for all the dogs. We took in two, two went to a family friend and the other two went to another rescue.
We don't have much information about their habits. We do know they lived inside their home with several other dogs, cats, chickens and ducks (if you can imagine the scene). In any case, they are both very sweet and have acclimated nicely to our rescue environment, the people in and out and the other dogs. They should each acclimate quickly to a new home. Due to the chaotic environment they lived in, we'd prefer a quiet and peaceful home for each of them.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
*We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved. We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule.
*Most of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever! We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family! We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing and the dog is over 15 pounds. There is no exception to this rule!
*PREDATORS: IF THIS DOG IS UNDER 10 POUNDS, the dog is to be monitored and protected when outside at all times! PREDATOR-THREAT IS A REAL DANGER! For example, a hawk tried to pick up a Chihuahua owned by a friend visiting Ninna’s house… RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE VISITOR. Thankfully the visitor was watching the dog and the hawk was wrestled off of the Chihuahua but it did require an ER visit and she is was very lucky to survive. TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!
*NO SMALL CHILDREN!! As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL! Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents.

13. Bishop
Adult · Male · Great Dane · 94 mi from Shreveport

Location: Edmond, OKMeet Bishop!Meet Bishop, a handsome Great Dane mix with a gentle heart, a loving personality, and a whole lot of affection to give! This sweet boy is happiest when he's curled up beside his favorite humans, resting his big head on their chest and soaking up all the love he can get.Bishop is a wonderful companion who enjoys the simple things in life. He's not particularly interested in playing fetch, but he does enjoy carrying around a stuffed toy and spending time in the backyard. With a moderate energy level, he's happy to enjoy some playtime before settling down for a relaxing afternoon on the couch.Personality & TemperamentBishop is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people.
Read more about Bishop
He takes treats gently, enjoys attention, and gets along wonderfully with adults and visitors. He's also done very well with children ages 11 and 12.Although Bishop has a loving nature, he can be assertive around other dogs, particularly when food is involved. He has shown food resource guarding toward his foster family's English Bulldog and is still learning appropriate boundaries when sharing space with canine companions.Bishop is responsive to correction and has already made great progress with his manners. He simply needs a patient family willing to continue providing structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement.Training & Home LifeBishop is fully house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and travels well in the car. He's also comfortable spending time in the backyard and doesn't require an especially active lifestyle to stay content.Crate training is still a work in progress, as his comfort with being crated can vary. Overall, Bishop has a solid foundation of training and is continuing to develop his household manners. One important area of focus is his food guarding. Bishop may rush to protect his food bowl when another dog approaches, so separate feeding areas and careful management around food will be essential. His future family should be comfortable continuing to work on this behavior using positive, reward-based methods.Other Dogs, Cats & ChildrenBishop currently lives alongside an English Bulldog, although their relationship is still developing. He can be uncertain about the Bulldog's growling during play and may need guidance interpreting other dogs' behavior. His foster believes Bishop may do well with smaller dogs or a compatible female Great Dane following slow, carefully managed introductions. However, his interactions with other dogs have been limited, and compatibility will need to be assessed individually. He may also thrive as the only dog in a home where he can enjoy all the attention.Bishop has encountered cats at the veterinarian's office without showing significant interest or reactivity, but he has not lived with cats, so his compatibility with them remains unknown. He has done wonderfully with children ages 11 and 12 and is friendly and affectionate with adults, including strangers.Medical InformationBishop is heartworm-positive and will require appropriate veterinary treatment and follow-up care. His future family should be prepared to support him through his heartworm care and any necessary activity restrictions.Bishop has not yet been neutered, and his foster believes his compatibility with other dogs may improve following neutering, although this cannot be guaranteed.Bishop's Ideal HomeBishop would thrive with a loving, patient family who appreciates a big, affectionate dog and is willing to continue helping him develop his manners.A home with a predictable routine, clear boundaries, and plenty of opportunities for cuddles would be wonderful for him. Because of his food guarding, an experienced adopter who understands resource management would be especially beneficial.Bishop could potentially share a home with a carefully matched canine companion, but a home where he is the only dog may be the simplest fit while he continues learning. Why You'll Love BishopBishop has so much to offer. He's affection

15. Leonidas
Puppy · Male · Great Dane · 94 mi from Shreveport

Meet Leonidas (Leo)!Location: Cabot, ARDOB: 06/29/2026Meet Leonidas, affectionately known as Leo! This sweet Great Dane puppy is a gentle soul with a heart as big as his paws. Even in his playful puppy stage, Leo is remarkably calm, affectionate, and happiest when he's close to the people and dogs he loves. While most puppies are constantly on the move, Leo prefers a more relaxed lifestyle. His zoomies are short-lived, his naps are plentiful, and his favorite place is snuggled up beside someone he loves. Whether he's snoozing on the couch, soaking up the sunshine, or cuddling with his foster brother, Leo is happiest surrounded by family.Personality & TemperamentLeo is the definition of a Velcro dog.
Read more about Leonidas
He has a moderate energy level, enjoying gentle playtime and occasional bursts of puppy excitement before settling down for a well-deserved nap.Although he can be timid in unfamiliar situations, Leo warms up quickly to people who approach him calmly. He's incredibly affectionate, eager to please, and responds beautifully to patience and positive reinforcement. His sensitive nature means harsh corrections or raised voices can be especially upsetting, so a gentle, encouraging approach is essential.Training & Home LifeAs a young puppy, Leo is still learning and will need a family committed to continuing his training.House-training is a work in progress. Leo is uncomfortable going into the backyard alone and needs a trusted human beside him to feel safe enough to potty. He's making steady progress, with accidents becoming less frequent.Leo is also working through some separation anxiety. He willingly enters his crate and has gradually become comfortable spending up to an hour alone during the day. At night, he sleeps in his crate beside his foster brother, which helps him feel secure.Leash training is another work in progress, as Leo currently finds the leash intimidating. Thankfully, he does well in the car and may eventually become a wonderful adventure companion!Leo is highly food-motivated, making positive reinforcement training especially effective. Like most puppies, he enjoys chewing but is easily redirected to appropriate toys. He's also remarkably gentle with his mouth and rarely engages in typical puppy biting.Other Dogs, Cats & ChildrenLeo shares his foster home with an 11-month-old male Labradane, and the two have developed a wonderful friendship. Although initially nervous, Leo gained confidence through his foster brother's patient companionship. They now enjoy playing and napping together. He would likely thrive with another calm, respectful large dog who can help him continue building confidence. Smaller dogs may find his playful paws and enthusiasm overwhelming, as he doesn't always recognize his size.Leo has also done well with his foster family's elderly cat, even enjoying cuddles together. However, he may chase cats that run, so any feline companions should be calm and dog-savvy, with supervised introductions.Leo has met children aged 10 and older and has done well. Younger children may initially intimidate him, so a home with older, respectful children would likely be the best fit.Medical InformationLeo has been experiencing allergies, although the exact cause remains unknown. Possible triggers include previous flea exposure, chicken, or environmental allergens. His foster family is transitioning him to a salmon and sweet potato diet, and an allergy injection provided noticeable relief within 24 hours. His future family should be prepared to continue monitoring his allergies and working with their veterinarian as needed.Leo's Ideal HomeLeo would thrive in a calm, loving home with patient humans and preferably another gentle, well-socialized large dog to help show him the ropes. He needs a family who understands that he's still a puppy and will require continued house-training, leash training, and confidence-building. Because he struggles with being alone, a home where someone is around frequently would be ideal. As his c

18. Athena Jane
Adult · Female · Great Dane · 94 mi from Shreveport

Meet Athena Jane! Location: Kyle, TXDOB: 7/31/2024Athena is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being close to her people. This playful, treat-motivated lady is happiest when she can be near her favorite humans, whether that means joining them for a walk, soaking up belly rubs, or curling up on the couch with her head resting on their legs.Athena has moderate energy and enjoys getting outside for a walk, but she's just as happy spending the rest of the day relaxing in the backyard or lounging around the house. She's a professional snuggler, an enthusiastic treat enthusiast (bully sticks are a particular favorite!), and even has a little happy grumble when she's enjoying belly rubs.
Read more about Athena Jane
She also happens to be a bit of a snorer!Athena is housebroken and is continuing to work on her basic manners and leash skills. She's a good passenger in the car, although she may get a little whiny along the way. She can be vocal when first crated but typically settles down quickly. She is still learning to feel comfortable when separated from her people and may try to escape when left confined, so she'll need a patient home willing to help her build confidence and independence gradually. She would likely do best with people who are home more often than not. What about other pets?Athena currently lives with a small female dog and is doing well with a smaller, confident canine companion. Introductions with a much larger male dog are still a work in progress, as she seems a little nervous around him. She also lives with a cat and is curious but not aggressive. A confident, dog-savvy cat may be a good match. Her compatibility with children is currently unknown. Her ideal homeAthena would love a home where she can be someone's shadow and enjoy plenty of companionship. A family with people around more often, a cozy couch, a backyard, and lots of tasty treats would make her day! A confident, smaller female dog may also help her continue building confidence. She'll need a family who understands that trust takes time and is willing to continue helping her learn that the world and the people in it can be good.A few things to know: Athena is heartworm positive, is not yet spayed, and has happy tail. She will need continued veterinary care and a family prepared to support her medical needs.Athena has so much love to give. With a little patience, plenty of affection, and a steady supply of treats, she's sure to make a wonderful companion for the right family!===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Biography: We took in thirteen dogs (10 dogs and 3 puppies) from animal control after they were seized due to neglect. They all had ear mites and fleas and none were spayed or neutered.
All the dogs are friendly. Some are shier than others. We don't believe they had a lot of handling because when we pick them up, they stiffen up... some more than others. They lived in individual pet carriers much of their life. We are thankful they are out of that situation and now can go on to lead happy, healthy lives with new families. Since we have so many that all pretty much look alike, we are posting them in batches. YOU MUST APPLY for a specific dog. Because these dogs will be popular, you can't just apply for "a Maltese". Adult · Male · Great Dane · 94 mi from Shreveport

Meet Bruno — A Big Boy with an Even Bigger Heart! ❤️Location: Sanford, NCDOB: 9/13/2022Bruno is an easygoing, affectionate boy who is ready to find his forever home! This 160-pound sweetheart is happiest when he’s close to his people, soaking up attention, and making sure he always knows where everyone is in the house. If there’s a hand available for pets, he’ll happily give it a nudge to remind you that he’s ready for some love!Personality & Energy Bruno has a moderate energy level and a wonderful off switch. He’s happy to enjoy a leisurely walk, then call it a day and relax at home. A backyard is plenty to keep him content! When he gets excited, his personality really shines.
Read more about Bruno
He’s quite the talker, carrying on conversations with a combination of barks and moans. And those excited 160-pound hops outside? They’re pretty hilarious! He absolutely adores attention from adults and has been described by his veterinarian as well-socialized. He has happily greeted people at an outdoor gathering, welcomed pets from strangers, and paid little attention to workers in the backyard. He’s a friendly, loving companion who simply wants to be included. What Makes Bruno Special? Housebroken and crate-trainedRides well in the carWalks nicely on a leashModerate energy with a great ability to settleExtremely affectionate and people-orientedGenerally calm around other animals, including through fences and at the vetSensitive and eager for gentle, patient handlingBruno can be a little anxious at times, but some reassurance and affection help him settle. He is very sensitive to correction, so a home that uses patience, kindness, and positive reinforcement will help him thrive. His Ideal Home Bruno would likely do best in a home with older children, ideally ages 8 and up, who understand how to interact respectfully with a large dog and can give him the attention he craves. He has been tolerant of a toddler, but he doesn’t seem especially comfortable or engaged with little ones. There has also been one reported nipping incident during roughhousing involving a child, so careful management and appropriate supervision are important.Bruno has not yet had direct interactions with other dogs or animals in his foster home. Although he seems unbothered by animals he sees at the vet or through fences, compatibility with other dogs would need to be assessed through careful introductions. His feelings about cats are currently unknown.A Note About His Health Bruno’s skin and coat are still healing, but they have improved significantly with care. He would also benefit from a dental cleaning, ideally coordinated with his neuter procedure if medically appropriate.Could Bruno Be Your Forever Friend? Bruno is the kind of dog who makes a house feel warmer simply by being in it. He doesn’t need endless adventures or a packed schedule. He wants a comfortable home, a loving person to follow from room to room, a few good pets, and a place where he finally belongs. He has so much love to give and is ready for someone to give that love right back. If a gentle giant with a silly side and a heart full of affection sounds like the perfect companion, Rune may be your boy!Bruno is ready to trade the rescue life for a lifetime of love. Young · Female · Great Dane / Mastiff / Mixed · 94 mi from Shreveport

Location: Georgetown, TX Meet Jolene Googly Bear! This beautiful girl has a name as unique as she is! ❤️Jolene is a 1-year-old, 125-pound double-merle Great Dane with a big personality and an even bigger heart!Jolene is deaf and was born with an eye defect that required surgery to remove one of her eyes. She's completely healed, sees well out of her remaining eye, and doesn't let any of that slow her down! She's sweet, goofy, affectionate, and FULL of puppy energy! Jolene loves absolutely everyone she meets! She's also a big cuddle bug who loves nothing more than snuggling up with her people and climbing into their laps.
Read more about Jolene Googley Bear
Apparently, nobody has told her that 125 pounds is a little big to be a lap dog! ❤️She loves playing fetch, chasing tennis balls, going for walks, and being part of the family. She's also quite the clever girl and has figured out how to open doors with lever-style handles all by herself!A little more about Jolene: Deaf, but sees well with her remaining eye Walks well on a leash with a Gentle Leader Fully house-trained with no accidents in over a month! Still working on crate training and basic manners Has done well around cats Loves other dogs but can play a little rough Loves toys, especially tennis balls and soccer balls Loves everyone and thinks she's a lap dog! She's a counter surfer, so keep those snacks out of reach! She is spayed!Jolene is still learning that she's a 125-pound Great Dane and not a tiny puppy! She currently lives with smaller dogs, including a Chihuahua who would probably tell you that Jolene doesn't understand when playtime is over! Jolene wants to play, but her little friend doesn't always share that enthusiasm. And when Jolene gets excited, she can accidentally mow the smaller dogs down! She's not aggressive, just a big, rambunctious puppy who doesn't always realize her own size and strength. We believe Jolene would thrive in a home with another younger, large-breed dog closer to her own size who can match her energy and enjoy playing with her. Because she plays rough, we recommend a home with dogs more her size rather than smaller dogs who could accidentally get hurt. Her current canine siblings are seniors, and they simply can't keep up with this energetic girl! Her ideal family will have experience with giant breeds, understand the needs of a deaf dog, and be willing to continue her training. Because of her size and enthusiasm, a home without elderly or physically vulnerable family members would be best.Jolene's current family loves her dearly and has worked hard to give her a wonderful life. Unfortunately, with senior dogs and elderly family members in the home, her energy has become more than their household can safely manage. They want nothing more than to see her happy and thriving in a home where she can be the playful, goofy girl she was meant to be.Jolene doesn't need anyone to feel sorry for her because she's deaf or has one eye. She just needs someone who sees the wonderful dog she is and is ready to love all 125 pounds of her! ❤️Could Jolene Googly Bear be your new best friend?===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Benefactor Dog: When we have a popular dog, we dub them a “Benefactor Dog”. A Benefactor Dog will have an above average adoption fee. In other words, for OTHER dogs where the adoption fee is minimal or waived due to age, health or some other reason (although we’ve likely spent hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars) a Benefactor dog will help us somewhat make up the shortfall. If this dog has an above-average adoption fee, she/he is a Benefactor Dog.

Biography: PLEASE keep in mind your AGE! Despite what you may want, we want YOU to outlive the pup… not the other way around! Puppies or young dogs (especially small-breed) can live 15-20 years!
We were reached out to by a man who is having health issues and can no longer care for his sibling Pug/ Poodle mix pups. Bobble does great in a kennel if needed and walks pretty well on a leash. He is beyond precious! He is playful and fun and squishy and adorable and and and... we can't say enough about either one! If you think you needed a Pug / Poodle in your life, we welcome your application!
PUPPY LOWDOWN – READ IT!:
COMMITMENT: Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer). Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy! Bear in mind your AGE! While life is never guaranteed, we want the odds to be that YOU outlive the puppy, not the other way around. In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come.

Meet Venus – A Playful, Affectionate Girl with So Much Love to Give!Location: Houston, TXLooking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling and happily curl up beside you after a day of adventures? Meet Venus, formerly known as Sheeva!Venus is a beautiful, energetic girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She's playful, affectionate, and absolutely loves being around her people. Whether she's wrestling with a canine friend, exploring the yard, or snuggling on the couch, Venus brings enthusiasm and love to everything she does.Personality & Favorite ThingsVenus is a confident, outgoing girl once she feels comfortable in her surroundings.
Read more about Venus
She loves attention, gives plenty of kisses, and is always happy to join her favorite humans for some quality cuddle time. She's especially fond of playtime and enjoys a good wrestling match with other dogs. Venus is often the one to get the fun started! Although she has an energetic personality, she also knows how to settle down and relax when playtime is over. One of her foster family's favorite things about Venus is her affectionate side. After burning off some energy, she's more than happy to climb onto the couch and snuggle up beside you.Venus is a wonderful combination of playful enthusiasm and sweet companionship.Training & Home LifeVenus is still working on some of her household manners, but she's responsive to redirection and has made good progress in foster care.House Training: Venus is doing well with house training. Her only reported accidents were associated with digestive upset, and she had no accidents once her stomach issues resolved.Leash Training: She walks reasonably well until an interesting smell or distraction catches her attention. She can pull strongly and will benefit from continued leash training.Car Rides: Venus sometimes needs encouragement to get into the vehicle, but once inside, she travels well.Crate Training: She has not been individually crate trained. In foster care, she stayed in a laundry room with Athena, where she occasionally cried briefly before settling.Energy Level: Moderate to high. Venus enjoys active play but can settle down appropriately afterward.Household Manners: She may jump when excited and will benefit from continued training to help manage her enthusiasm.Food Manners: Venus is food motivated but has not shown food aggression. She may occasionally investigate countertops if something tempting is left within reach.Venus is an intelligent girl who responds well to consistent boundaries, patience, and positive reinforcement.Other Dogs, Cats & ChildrenVenus enjoys canine companionship and has lived with several other dogs, including medium and large breeds. She loves to play and has a confident, enthusiastic personality.Since spending time apart from Athena, Venus has continued to do well with other dogs on her own. This has been wonderful to see and suggests that having her own space and opportunities to build independence has been beneficial for her.Although Venus and Athena share a close bond, their foster family has observed that the girls sometimes amplify each other's excitement and barking. Separate homes may allow each of them to flourish individually.Venus could be a wonderful companion for another compatible dog, particularly one who enjoys an active play style. As with any adoption involving resident pets, thoughtful introductions will help ensure a successful match.Venus has also been around dog-savvy barn cats. She generally sniffed them and walked away when they remained still, but she would chase them if they ran. A home with cats would require careful introductions, supervision, and safe escape spaces for the cats.Venus has not been evaluated around children. Because of her size, strength, and tendency to jump when excited, a home with older, dog-savvy children or adults would be the best fit. Toddlers and very young children are not recommended.Meeting New PeopleVenus is incredibly affectionate

Meet Mandy – A Sweet Girl Looking for Her Forever Home! Location: Palmyra, VADOB: 8/9/2022Mandy is a beautiful Great Dane with a big heart, a playful spirit, and so much love to give. She can be a little shy and guarded when meeting new people, especially men, but once she feels safe, her sweet and affectionate personality shines. Mandy just needs a little patience, a gentle approach, and the chance to learn that she is finally somewhere she can feel secure. This girl has the cutest zoomies! She loves racing around the backyard, making tight turns around trees, playing tug-of-war with her favorite toys, and hunting for hidden treasures in her toys.
Read more about Mandy
After about 15 minutes of fun, she is ready to curl up beside her favorite person for some well-deserved cuddles. She is a smart, loving girl who even offers her paw as if asking for approval. And, like a true Great Dane, she loves to lean in close and share plenty of slobbery kisses!Mandy is a well-mannered houseguest. She is housebroken, crate-trained, rides well in the car, and knows commands like sit, down, and heel. She can be trusted loose in the house overnight without destroying things. Although she can get excited and occasionally jump or become a little mouthy when showing affection, she responds to gentle correction and wants to please her people.Mandy can be fearful of strangers and may bark or growl when she feels uncertain. She needs a calm, predictable home with people who will respect her boundaries and allow her to build trust at her own pace. She has made wonderful progress with some of her reactivity, and patience and positive reinforcement will help her continue to blossom.Mandy has shown resource guarding around other dogs and can play a little too roughly, so careful management and slow introductions are important. A home without other dogs may be the best fit, and a home without young children is recommended because of her size and exuberant play style. She also has a couple of growths and possible underlying injuries that will need veterinary follow-up.Mandy's dream home has a securely fenced backyard, a cozy bed, fun toys, and loving humans who understand that the best relationships grow from trust. She doesn't need a perfect home—just a patient one where she can feel safe, loved, and accepted.Mandy is a special girl with a playful heart and a tender soul. When he rests his head on someone and gazes up with those sweet, soulful eyes, his gentle, affectionate nature shines through. He is a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and close to his people. Play Hard, Snuggle Harder!Bane is a playful, energetic boy who loves a good game! Fetch is one of his specialties, and he's surprisingly talented at catching tossed balls and treats right out of the air. He also enjoys tug-of-war, durable chews, bones, snuffle mats, enrichment toys, and wrestling with his canine foster siblings. Water and mud? Absolutely! Random zoomies and chasing his own tail just for fun? You bet!Although Bane can be a bundle of energy outdoors, he generally settles nicely inside, especially when he has a chew or enrichment activity to enjoy. And when it's time to relax, this boy takes snuggling very seriously. Bane firmly believes that personal space is optional and may attempt to become a full-body weighted blanket while cuddling on the couch. If a cozy evening with a movie and a giant, affectionate cuddle buddy sounds perfect, Bane might be your guy!Bane is also VERY food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He enjoys treat-based games and is learning to make good choices through positive reinforcement. He currently knows “sit,” “leave it,” “out,” and “no,” and he has been working on “down.” He is housebroken, travels well in the car, and has plenty of potential to continue learning. A Social Boy Who Loves His CompanionsBane currently lives with several dogs and has done well with his foster pack. He enjoys having canine friends to play with and would likely thrive with a compatible medium-to-large dog who appreciates an enthusiastic playmate. Introductions should be gradual, as Bane may need time to feel comfortable with a new dog.Although he plays hard, Bane often displays submissive, appeasing behaviors with his canine companions. He does, however, need some guidance around toys and high-value chews. He has been observed hovering closely around other dogs who have toys, so shared toys and chews should be carefully supervised, and separate spaces may be needed to keep everyone comfortable.Bane has a prey drive and closely tracks the resident cat in his foster home. He requires frequent redirection around cats, so a cat-free home would likely be the best fit.He has also done well with visitors and has not shown concerning people-directed aggression in his foster home. He is a loving, affectionate boy who enjoys being near his humans. Bane's Biggest Challenge: Separation AnxietyBane's greatest struggle is anxiety when separated from his people. He becomes extremely distressed when left alone or confined to a kennel for extended periods. His anxiety can lead to prolonged barking, whining, scratching, and jumping at doors or walls when he panics. He is working on crate training and can generally settle in his kennel at bedtime and for a morning nap after breakfast, but confinement at other times remains difficult.Bane currently takes prescribed medication for anxiety and will need a family committed to working with his veterinary team to manage his needs. His progress will require patience, consistency, and a compassionate understanding that his distress is real—not a behavior he can simply

Adopting a dog in Shreveport
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
