1. Pickles
Adult (6 years 6 months) · Female · Labrador Retriever / Boxer / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Pickles, affectionately known as Picky!
A sweet six-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever mix currently in Ellsworth AFB, SD, whose beautiful black coat with white accents matches her wonderfully lovable personality. At 80 pounds, this affectionate girl has a big heart, an even bigger love for her people, and a special talent for turning ordinary moments into cozy memories!
Read more about Pickles
Picky is a devoted companion who believes togetherness makes everything better. Whether she's following you from room to room, curling up beside you for a nap, or patiently hoping for a tasty snack, she's happiest near her favorite humans. She's wonderfully intuitive, often sensing emotions and offering quiet companionship when needed. Her favorite activities include snuggling, relaxing, enjoying car rides, and supervising snack time!
This clever girl knows several commands, including sit, lay, kennel, and outside, with an occasional shake when she's feeling cooperative. She's house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. She also handles time alone comfortably, often napping or watching the world through a window.
Picky needs a peaceful, adult-only home with an experienced pet parent who understands canine body language and respects her boundaries. She's protective of her loved ones and may respond defensively to unfamiliar approaches. She has growled at small children and can react when dogs attempt to mount her. She's selective with canine companions, and her compatibility with cats is unknown.
Loud noises, particularly thunderstorms, fireworks, and jet engines, frighten her, although comforting snuggles help. A quieter environment would support her emotional well-being.
Picky previously injured her right hind leg, which still limits jumping and running. She's also carrying extra weight, so gentle activity and thoughtful nutrition would benefit her.
This low-energy sweetheart doesn't need endless adventures. She needs patience, understanding, a comfortable couch, and someone who appreciates unconditional companionship. With her loving nature and fondness for peaceful routines, Picky is ready to share life's quieter joys! Could your heart and couch have room for this snuggly, devoted girl? Leslie has a delightful balance of playful energy and easygoing charm. She loves a good round of zoomies, racing around with pure joy before settling into her comfortable, medium-energy rhythm. Her absolute favorite toys are Kong stuffed animals, and she's always ready for some fun with her beloved plush companions. Whether she's enjoying playtime, exploring the neighborhood, or hopping into the car for an adventure, Leslie knows how to make everyday moments special!
This clever girl already knows sit, stay, and come, even without formal obedience training. She's house-trained, responds when called, and handles short periods alone comfortably. With continued positive reinforcement, she'll have wonderful opportunities to build on her existing skills.

Adult (5 years 3 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Chow Chow / Mixed (long coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Beau!
A handsome five-year-old Great Pyrenees/Chow mix currently in Chattanooga, TN, whose gorgeous fawn and black coat, impressive 125-pound frame, and irresistible face make him impossible to overlook.
Beau is a super-smart, affectionate boy with a wonderful balance of playful energy and laid-back charm! He enjoys leisurely walks, relaxing in a safe yard, and simply spending time near his favorite people. His sweetest habit? Resting his big, beautiful head on your lap to request some well-earned affection. With Beau, there's always room for another cuddle!
Read more about Beau
This gentle-hearted giant knows commands like "sit," "lie down," and "come on." He's fully house-trained, comfortable relaxing alone, and respectful of furniture. He enjoys car rides, welcomes strangers, and happily sleeps on the bedroom floor at night. He'll occasionally announce passing visitors with a bark, taking his neighborhood watch responsibilities seriously!
Beau needs an experienced large-breed family who can confidently manage his size and strength. He has a strong prey drive and has repeatedly chased and caught a cat. Therefore, his new loving home must be completely free of cats and small dogs. He gets along well with a Brittany Spaniel and may be compatible with appropriately matched medium or large dogs following careful introductions. Dog parks are not recommended, and his compatibility with children remains unknown.
Neutered and vaccinated, Beau has no known medical conditions. He's making progress with a weight-management plan and has already lost five pounds! Veterinary visits require prescribed calming medications beforehand because handling can be stressful. Regular brushing, positive reinforcement, and patient grooming support will help him feel comfortable and cared for.
Beau would appreciate more frequent walks and a family who understands his need for thoughtful boundaries. He isn't fond of crates, but he's trustworthy when relaxing freely indoors.
Ready to welcome this magnificent, lovable companion into your life? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Beau!

4. Omaha
Adult (7 years 3 months) · Male · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Omaha!
A handsome seven-year-old German Shepherd currently in Hackettstown, NJ, whose striking black and tan coat and playful spirit make him a wonderful companion for the right family.
Omaha is a friendly, medium-energy, large boy at 141 pounds who loves outdoor adventures, exploring the backyard, and chasing his beloved Chuckit! balls. Whether enjoying neighborhood walks, investigating interesting scents, or playing fetch, this handsome fellow knows how to make every day an adventure. He also enjoys digging, so don't be surprised if he occasionally tries his paw at landscaping!
Read more about Omaha
This intelligent gentleman has excellent manners and plenty of training experience. He's house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, and knows several commands, including sit, stay, come, drop, and lay down. He's also comfortable spending short periods alone.
Omaha enjoys canine companionship and regularly attends doggy daycare, where he socializes with other dogs. He could happily share his new loving home with a compatible canine friend. His compatibility with cats remains unknown.
Omaha needs an experienced, adult-only family who understands German Shepherds and can provide a peaceful, structured environment. His resource guarding behaviors around food and favorite toys began after young children joined his family, a change that introduced new dynamics into his environment. During an unfamiliar and potentially stressful outing, Omaha also had an incident where he reacted to a young child's touch, making open-mouth contact with the child's face and causing a minor injury. The exact trigger is unknown, but these behaviors may be related to the challenges of adjusting to life with young children. Omaha needs a calm, child-free home with predictable routines and an understanding guardian.
A knowledgeable guardian who understands resource guarding, respects boundaries, and uses positive reinforcement and thoughtful behavior management will help Omaha feel secure. Consistent routines and opportunities for exercise are important. A fenced yard would also be ideal.
Omaha is generally healthy, although he could benefit from maintaining a healthier weight through appropriate activity and nutrition.
Behind those alert Shepherd ears is a playful companion with so much to share. With a little room to roam, a steady routine, and a guardian who appreciates his playful personality, Omaha is ready to fill his days with outdoor adventures, exciting games of fetch, and the simple joys of being a cherished companion. Could Omaha be the adventure-loving companion you've been waiting to meet? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this special boy!

5. Koda and Sam
Puppy (8 months) · Male · Shiba Inu / Golden Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Koda and Sam!
Two adorable eight-month-old Shiba Inu mixes currently in Smyrna, TN, whose golden and white coats, sweet personalities, and brotherly bond make them an unforgettable duo. These handsome boys are looking for a new loving home together, where their playful spirits, intelligence, and affectionate personalities can continue to blossom!
Read more about Koda and Sam
Koda is the energetic comedian of the pair, always ready to chase a ball, investigate a toy, or discover the world's greatest chewing stick. Once he finds a particularly interesting stick, everything else fades away! His goofy personality and enthusiasm for playtime bring plenty of laughter and excitement to everyday adventures. Sam, meanwhile, is the thoughtful observer. Calm, inquisitive, and wonderfully alert, he enjoys studying his surroundings as though he's solving life's greatest mysteries. His gentle curiosity beautifully complements Koda's playful enthusiasm, making these brothers a delightful team!
Both boys are incredibly smart, eager learners who have begun basic obedience training and leash manners through Bark Busters. Their lifelong training membership may transfer for a fee, offering valuable support as they continue developing their skills! They are crate-trained, house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, and in excellent health.
Each boy has his own crate, food bowl, and water bowl, helping them develop independence while maintaining their special bond. They enjoy chewing bones, playing with stuffed toys, and chasing balls. Their daily routine includes twice-daily meals and a bedtime treat.
At approximately 50 pounds each, these growing boys need an experienced pet parent who understands larger dogs and can provide consistent positive reinforcement, exercise, and continued training. A spacious fenced yard or farm would provide wonderful opportunities for exploration and play!
They may do well with calm, respectful older children, while their compatibility with cats and other dogs remains unassessed. Both have adjusted well to short periods alone and have experience staying at boarding facilities.
With their contrasting personalities and shared sweetness, Koda and Sam offer twice the companionship, twice the adventures, and countless reasons to smile! Are you ready to welcome Koda and Sam into your family and discover double the joy? To learn more about adopting these wonderful brothers, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com.

6. Woody
Adult (7 years 4 months) · Male · Beagle / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Woody!
A lovable seven-and-a-half-year-old Beagle/American Staffordshire Terrier mix currently in Brooklyn, NY, whose golden and white coat is matched only by his heart of gold and larger-than-life personality.
Weighing 65 pounds, Woody is a people-loving sweetheart who believes personal space is overrated. His favorite way to show affection? Sitting directly on your lap! Affectionately known as the "Mayor of Greenpoint," Woody makes friends everywhere, from neighborhood shopkeepers to crossing guards. His enthusiastic tail slaps and hilarious Chewbacca-like greetings make every reunion memorable!
Read more about Woody
Woody loves long walks, riverside relaxation, hiking, and cuddling after an adventure. He's equally enthusiastic about lazy afternoons and peanut butter snacks! Smart and wonderfully trained, he knows sit, heel, spin, high five, and more. His excellent leash manners and reliable recall make exploring together a joy. Sitters describe him as a delightful companion, while dog camp counselors praise his playful spirit and affection.
Woody also has some important needs. He experiences severe separation anxiety, including trembling, crying, and paw licking when left alone. He needs a patient, experienced family with someone home most of the time, along with continued behavioral support and a safe routine.
Although Woody adores people, he needs to be the only animal in his new loving home. He can become uncomfortable around unfamiliar dogs, particularly in close spaces. His compatibility with cats is unknown.
Woody also needs an adult-only home or one with respectful children over 12. He has shown escalating concerning behavior toward a crawling baby without an identified trigger. Although he has never bitten anyone, careful management is essential.
Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, house-trained, and crate-trained, Woody is ready for a thoughtful next chapter with people who appreciate his affectionate nature, playful energy, and individual needs. Could your family be the loving match Woody needs? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this unforgettable sweetheart!

Be sure to watch his video! Hank is an 18 month old lab/mastiff mix who was rescued as a stray from the streets of Memphis. Friendly, well socialized, never meets a stranger! Good with other dogs, not cat tested. Hank is very strong and active so he’s recommended for children 6 years and older. Very active outside, but he settles down quickly in the house. Crate trained and housebroken. Hank has a very distinctive “look” and is described by his foster mom as “a big goofball” and everyone who meets him just falls in love with him. Loves to be with his people.

9. Zep
Senior (8 years 7 months) · Male · Boxer / Bulldog / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Zep!
A laid-back Boxer/Bulldog mix estimated to be between six to eight years old currently in Sneads Ferry, NC, whose gentle spirit comes wrapped in a handsome dark brown brindle coat with white accents.
At 65 pounds, Zep is a big, kindhearted boy who has perfected the art of enjoying life’s simple pleasures! Give him sunshine, soft grass beneath his belly, a breeze to sniff, and a comfortable place to nap, and he is one happy fellow. He loves lounging outdoors so much that you might wonder whether there is a little lizard hiding inside this porch dog!
Read more about Zep
Zep is extremely friendly with people and happily greets neighbors, delivery drivers, and their treats and affection. He is also friendly with other dogs and enjoys visits and gentle playtime. He has shown no prey drive or reaction to cats, although his direct experience with them is limited. Calm, respectful children are welcome friends, too!
When Zep feels playful, he enjoys rolling in the grass and chasing a ball or Frisbee for a few rounds before heading straight for a long, refreshing drink. He even carries his own toy home afterward! His preferred adventures are short strolls where he can sniff around at his own pace.
Zep has some mobility limitations and urinary incontinence that his veterinarian believes may be related to Ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne condition. X-rays have also shown significant wear in his hips and back end, making stairs and long walks uncomfortable. He is happiest with short, easy strolls and convenient access to a yard where he can relax and take bathroom breaks throughout the day. Because Zep can have difficulty controlling when he needs to go, his new family should be comfortable with occasional indoor accidents and frequent opportunities to head outside. A single-story home with a yard would suit his slower pace beautifully, and his new family can also talk with their veterinarian about options for helping manage his incontinence.
He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, comfortable spending time alone, and knows sit, come, no, and stop. Long car rides are not his favorite and can upset his stomach.
Mostly, Zep asks for something wonderfully uncomplicated: sunshine, grass, companionship, patience, and room to enjoy life at his mellow pace. Could this sweet, porch-loving companion be the one you've hoping to welcome into your family? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Zep!

Meet Luna!
A spirited almost five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Temple, PA, whose essence is a joyful blend of goofy affection, outdoor enthusiasm, and snuggly sweetness wrapped in a beautiful tan coat with white accents. At 65 pounds, this lovable girl has plenty of presence, but what really stands out is her gentle heart and her enthusiasm for being close to her favorite people!
Read more about Luna
Luna is happiest when life includes fresh air, exercise, and plenty of affection. Walks, hikes, fetch, Kong toys, swimming, and outdoor play are all high on her list of favorite things! After the adventure is over, she is more than ready to settle in for some serious snuggle time. She is friendly with new people, wonderfully gentle with children of all ages, and comfortable sharing her space with cats.
This clever girl has received formal obedience training and knows sit, heel, lay, stop, come, and free! She is house-trained, leash trained, and off-leash trained with reliable recall. Luna can also spend short periods alone without anxiety and enjoys car rides. Her daily routine includes three meals and consistent exercise to keep her feeling happy and fulfilled.
Luna is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She has no major health concerns, although she experiences seasonal summer allergies that can cause sneezing and red eyes.
Because of past stressful experiences with dogs, Luna can be cautious around unfamiliar canine companions, particularly reactive or loose dogs. She has no bite history with people and is not reactive to dogs while walking on leash. A home without another unfamiliar dog would be suitable, although carefully managed introductions can help determine compatibility.
There is one very special exception: Luna adores Freya, the dog she currently lives with and her best canine friend! If possible, Luna would love to be adopted with Freya so these two buddies can continue their adventures together.
An active family with a fenced yard or a strong commitment to daily exercise could be a wonderful match for Luna. Could Luna, and perhaps Freya too, be the adventure-loving snuggle companion you have been hoping to welcome home? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet Luna!

Meet Freya!
A beautiful six-and-a-half-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix currently in Temple, PA, whose loving, loyal spirit is wrapped in a soft tan coat and an impressive 95-pound frame. This affectionate girl is equal parts outdoor adventurer, devoted companion, and professional snuggler, with a wonderfully goofy side that keeps her family smiling!
Read more about Freya
Freya loves hikes, walks, Kong toys, and time spent playing outside. Daily exercise is important to her, so she is looking for an active family who enjoys getting outdoors and can provide a fenced yard or a firm commitment to regular walks, hikes, and adventures. After the fun is over, Freya is happy to settle in close for affection and companionship.
This smart girl has received formal obedience training and knows sit, heel, stay, come, lay, free, and stop! She is housebroken, crate trained, comfortable on leash, and trained off leash with reliable recall. Freya also does well when left alone for short periods, and enjoys car rides. Her one quirky concern is the vacuum, and storms can make her nervous.
Freya is friendly with people, including strangers, and she is especially gentle and protective with children of all ages. She loves other dogs and is also comfortable around cats! Healthy, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, she has no major health concerns, although she occasionally experiences diarrhea.
Freya eats three times daily and appreciates a predictable routine that includes plenty of activity, companionship, and outdoor time. Her future pet parent should be ready to talk openly about her needs and continue giving this clever, affectionate girl the exercise and engagement she enjoys.
Freya shares an especially meaningful friendship with Luna, and these two girls are best friends! While Freya can be adopted separately, she would love to be adopted with Luna if possible so they can begin their next adventure side by side.

12. Diesel
Young (1 year 8 months) · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Boxer / Mixed (medium coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Diesel!
A spirited almost two-year-old German Shepherd/Boxer mix currently in San Bernardino, CA, whose big personality shines through his tan coat, dark muzzle, playful energy, and enthusiasm for making new friends.
At about 75 pounds, Diesel is a large, lively boy who approaches life like every day has something exciting waiting around the corner! He loves his red bone squeaky toy, happily plays tug of war, and is always ready for activity. He is silly, entertaining, loyal, and protective, with the kind of working-dog energy that can keep an active family smiling and moving.
Read more about Diesel
Diesel is extremely friendly with people and has even dashed across the street to greet a neighbor when he slipped loose. His enthusiasm can also show up as jumping on unfamiliar people and occasional excited nipping, so he needs a confident, experienced pet parent who enjoys training and can channel that exuberance through positive reinforcement, structure, exercise, and engaging mental work. He knows “stay” and has plenty more to learn!
This clever digger has remodeled a sprinkler system and barbecue in his own creative style, so a secure fenced yard, with an appropriate place to dig, is important. His house-training habits have recently regressed, and he currently needs supervised trips outside and regular walks to help rebuild a reliable routine. He handles short periods alone well but finds longer stretches harder. Fireworks and other loud noises can make him uneasy.
Diesel has been friendly with other dogs, including a small dog and a neighbor’s Pitbull. His compatibility with children has not been assessed and a cat-free home would be best.
Diesel is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, with no known health concerns. He needs an active individual or family with working-breed experience who wants a dog to train, engage, and adventure alongside.
Are you ready to turn Diesel’s energy, loyalty, and goofy charm into your next great adventure together every day? To learn more about adopting Diesel, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

14. Buck
Adult (2 years 7 months) · Male · Rottweiler / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Buck!
A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Rottweiler/American Bulldog mix currently in Burlington, KY, whose essence is a loyal, goofy companion wrapped in a handsome brown coat with a white chest patch.
Read more about Buck
At 115 pounds, Buck is a big boy with an even bigger smile and a simple wish: to be included! Whether he is running beside you through a field, joining you for a 1–3 mile run or hike, playing fetch or tug, chewing a favorite bone nearby, or settling in for a long car ride, Buck is happiest when he is sharing life with his person. He has medium energy, enjoys daily activity, and is also wonderfully content to relax once the adventure is over.
Buck is neutered, healthy, up to date on vaccinations, house trained, and crate trained. His education has included puppy camps, private training, and a three-week board-and-train program. He knows sit, wait, free, place, leave it, “ouse” for letting go, here, and down. He stays off furniture, although he would certainly enjoy an invitation to become a couch companion in his new loving home!
This gentle boy has grown up with children and has been sweet and patient with them, even taking commands from a four-year-old with impressive seriousness. He may bark when unfamiliar men approach the home, then settles once he sees a friendly greeting.
Buck needs an experienced pet parent who understands large, powerful breeds and can offer structure, companionship, exercise, and positive reinforcement. A home without cats is necessary because of his strong prey drive. While Buck can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs and has never lived with another dog, he has boarded successfully and done well during supervised time around familiar family dogs. He may be able to live with a confident, compatible dog following careful, slow introductions, although being the only pet would also suit him well. Because of his size and strength, a home without young children is preferred, although visiting children can be managed thoughtfully.
Buck is ready for someone who wants a devoted sidekick with presence, personality, and plenty of affection. He especially loves having someone outside with him, turning ordinary walks, games, and afternoons into shared adventures! Could Buck be the big-hearted adventure buddy you have been hoping to welcome into your family? For adoption information, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com.

This clever youngster already knows sit, stay, and “come now.” Although he has not attended formal obedience classes, he has a great foundation for continuing his education through positive reinforcement and training classes. Arlo is house-trained, crate-trained, and comfortable being left alone for short periods.
Arlo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, with no known health concerns. Most of all, Arlo needs a new loving family who will appreciate his affectionate spirit, energetic nature, and enthusiasm for adventure.

16. Mochi
Senior (9 years 9 months) · Male · Golden Retriever (long coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Mochi!
A spirited nine-and-a-half-year-old Golden Retriever currently in Monson, MA, whose essence is an athletic burst of enthusiasm wrapped in a lightly golden coat and powered by an enormous love for his people.
At 75 pounds, Mochi is a loyal, affectionate boy who believes life is better when there is something fun on the agenda. Fetch? Absolutely! Swimming? He is ready! Running, retrieving balls, and hopping into the car for an adventure? Count him in! Mochi is in very good shape for his age and still approaches activity with impressive enthusiasm. After the fun, he is also happy to relax at home alongside his favorite people.
Read more about Mochi
Smart and eager to learn, Mochi has received formal obedience training and knows his basic commands, plus the crowd-pleasing roll over. He is house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He receives a daily joint supplement, and green beans are added to his meals to help with weight management. This enthusiastic foodie LOVES eating, perhaps even more than swimming!
Food also requires thoughtful management. Mochi has a longstanding pattern of resource guarding and has bitten two family members when they attempted to take food away. The bites did not require medical care. His trigger is consistent, so he needs caregivers who will keep food secured, maintain a tidy environment, and use established management strategies and positive reinforcement. His current guardian can share approaches that have worked successfully for years.
Mochi is suitable for a family without young children and would do well with respectful, school-age children and adults. He lives peacefully with a cat but is selective with dogs, particularly larger, assertive males, so he should not regularly share space with another strong-personality dog. A securely fenced yard will give this athlete room to enjoy himself safely.
Mochi also has a strong reaction to animals on television. Seeing them on screen can get him very worked up, so the simplest solution is to have him leave the room when animals appear. It is another one of Mochi’s particular sensitivities that his new family will want to understand and accommodate.
For a thoughtful, active family prepared to manage his food boundaries, Mochi offers tremendous loyalty, companionship, laughter, and adventure. Could Mochi be the golden adventure buddy you have been waiting to meet? To learn more about adopting Mochi, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

17. Bruce
Adult (7 years 1 month) · Male · Boxer / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Bruce!
A spirited seven-year-old Boxer/American Bulldog mix currently in Provo, UT, whose essence is a joyful blend of goofy enthusiasm, loyal affection, and playful charm wrapped in a handsome white coat with tan patches.
At about 65 pounds, Bruce is a big-hearted boy with a classic Boxer zest for life and an impressive appreciation for cozy downtime. His DNA results show he is 75% Boxer and 25% American Bulldog, which helps explain his athletic side, expressive personality, and devotion to his favorite people. Mention the word “walk,” and Bruce may greet the idea with an excited jump and one of his signature smiles!
Read more about Bruce
Fetch and tug are also high on Bruce’s list of favorite activities. He loves bringing over a toy to invite his people into the fun, and his food motivation can make positive reinforcement especially rewarding! He already knows sit, shake, and lay down. Once the adventures are finished, Bruce is happy to trade action for affection, naps, and a soft blanket near the fire. After a bath, he becomes wonderfully velvety soft, adding extra appeal to cuddle time!
Bruce is house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is described as very healthy and does well when left alone for short periods. Vet visits can make him a little uneasy, although he handles them well.
This friendly fellow has done wonderfully with children, including his current pet parent’s grandchildren, though his experience with babies and crawling toddlers is limited. He has also successfully boarded with a family who had multiple dogs, including another Boxer. A cat-free home is the suitable choice for Bruce.
Bruce needs a family with time for daily walks, games, affection, and plenty of opportunities to be included in everyday life. He brings loyalty, curiosity, resilience, humor, and an affectionate presence to his next chapter! Could Bruce be the playful walking buddy and champion cuddler your family has been waiting to welcome? For adoption information, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com.

18. Berkley
Adult (3 years 1 month) · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Hound / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Berkley!
A spirited three-year-old German Shepherd/Hound mix currently in Youngsville, NC, whose essence is a joyful combination of playful energy, devoted companionship, and enormous ears wrapped in a silky black and tan coat.
At about 70 pounds, Berkley is a tall, handsome boy with a heart every bit as big as those unforgettable ears he never quite grew into! His warm smile is equally charming, especially when he is proudly carrying a favorite tennis ball after another successful round of play.
Read more about Berkley
Berkley loves toys of all kinds and happily shares the fun! Toss a ball, start a friendly game of tug-of-war, or head outside for some playtime, and he is ready to join in. He enjoys running around, taking car rides, exploring on calm walks, and settling in afterward for some well-earned snuggles. Whether the day calls for adventure or couch time, Berkley simply loves being with his people!
This playful boy is house-trained and crate trained, comes when called, and knows “sit.” He does well relaxing in his crate when left alone for short periods. Berkley is friendly with other dogs and comfortable and gentle with children of all ages, although older children who enjoy his energetic playfulness may especially appreciate his enthusiastic style.
On leash, Berkley can become reactive when he encounters excitable dogs, and busy environments with lots of stimulation can sometimes feel overwhelming. He would benefit from continued leash training, patient behavior support, and positive reinforcement to help him build confidence and focus. A fenced yard would give him a wonderful space for exercise and play while he continues learning his leash manners.
Berkley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. With his goofy ears, toy-sharing generosity, adventurous spirit, and constant-companion personality, he has plenty of happiness to bring to a new loving home! Could Berkley be the big-eared, big-hearted sidekick your family has been waiting to meet?
If you’re interested in providing Berkley with a loving home, please email adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting him! Please note that Berkley is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with his foster family until the right match is found. 19. Archie
Young (1 year 4 months) · Male · Black Mouth Cur / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Archie!
A spirited one-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix currently in Omaha, NE, whose essence is pure joy wrapped in a handsome tan coat, soulful eyes, and a striking black muzzle.
At about 65 pounds, Archie is a big, goofy love bug who is still discovering just how much space those long legs occupy! His occasional clumsiness only adds to his charm. Once Archie trusts you, cuddling becomes a full-body experience. He may melt against you with all 65 pounds or wander between your legs for a reassuring lean, making it wonderfully clear that being close to his people is his happy place!
Read more about Archie
Archie is playful, friendly, and extremely gentle with other dogs. He loves racing around a fenced yard, being chased by canine friends, chewing his bones, and proudly finding a good stick to carry during his adventures. He is submissive during dog play and happily shares his food and toys. He also appears noticeably more confident with other dogs around, so a friendly, confident canine companion could be a wonderful match for him! His compatibility with cats is currently unknown.
With people, Archie has a tender, cautious side. He genuinely wants affection and connection, but he may initially keep some distance from someone new while he decides whether he feels safe. Slow movements, patience, and giving him the freedom to initiate interaction help this sensitive boy build trust. A calm, predictable home where he can build trust at his own pace would be a wonderful fit.
This sweet boy has medium energy and enjoys frequent outdoor play followed by cozy evening cuddles. He is still working on potty training and would benefit from a patient pet parent who can continue helping him learn through consistency and positive reinforcement. Archie is also sensitive to loud, sudden, or unfamiliar noises and fast movements. A quieter, predictable environment where he knows what to expect will help him feel secure and continue building confidence.
Archie can manage short periods alone and seems more comfortable staying in a room than a kennel. He has a strong sensitivity to the leash and is still learning to feel comfortable with leash walking. He responds well to calm, patient, non-forceful guidance and showed encouraging progress during his recent behavior assessment. Archie has done okay with car rides in the past, although he hasn’t traveled much recently. A fenced yard is required for his playtime and adventures.
Archie is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He has a sensitive stomach that currently does well with Hill’s Science Diet Biome prescription food and a quality probiotic.
Most of all, Archie is a soulful, affectionate companion who wants to be deeply connected to his family. His behavior assessment highlighted his resilience, sociability, and learning potential. He truly wants love and connection but needs the freedom to build trust at his own pace. With patience, consistency, and a peaceful home, Archie has wonderful potential to become a deeply devoted companion! 20. Gilly
Young (1 year 10 months) · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Gilly!
A spirited one-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently in Long Beach, CA, whose essence is a joyful blend of goofy charm, gentle sensitivity, and affection wrapped in a handsome tan-and-white coat.
At 62 pounds, Guillermo, affectionately known as Gilly, is a big puppy at heart who loves being close to his people! Whether he is playing with his favorite toys, hopping into the car for an adventure, or enjoying a luxurious spa day, this sweet boy has a wonderful way of making ordinary moments feel more cheerful. Monthly grooming sessions are even something he enjoys!
Read more about Gilly
Gilly is playful, friendly with new people, and eager to please. He knows sit, stay, and crate, comes when called, and does well relaxing in his crate for short periods alone. He thrives with a consistent daily routine and will benefit from a patient pet parent committed to continuing his training through positive reinforcement.
Food is especially exciting for Gilly, so he is learning to feel secure around meals and practice sharing. He can also be sensitive to fireworks, storms, garbage trucks, and other loud sounds. Calm guidance helps him build confidence when the world gets noisy or unfamiliar.
Gilly is reactive toward other dogs and needs to be the only dog in his new loving home. His compatibility with cats and children is unknown because he has not had enough interaction with them. A fenced yard and a family familiar with his breed, or willing to learn, would support his continued progress.
This handsome boy is neutered, microchipped, house-trained, and up to date on vaccinations. He has received treatment for skin allergies, which have been easily managed through diet. He is otherwise a healthy, happy companion!
Gilly brings affection, laughter, enthusiasm, and plenty of tail-wagging personality to every day. With steady support, training, and connection, he is ready to keep learning alongside a caring family and share all the joyful adventures ahead! Could this sweet, goofy boy be the one waiting to make you smile every day?
If you’re interested in providing Gilly with a loving home, please email adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting him! 21. Bear
Adult (3 years 2 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Golden Retriever / Mixed (long coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Bear!
A spirited three-year-old Great Pyrenees mix currently in Youngsville, NC, whose essence is a lovable goofball wrapped in a fluffy white coat and paired with the instincts of a devoted guardian.
Read more about Bear
At about 70 pounds, Bear takes his security duties seriously. Strangers and unexpected visitors make him uneasy, and workers arriving at the home are especially stressful. Bear needs slow, thoughtful introductions to new people, but he can make new friends. Once you earn membership in Bear’s trusted circle, his softer side appears. He rolls over for belly rubs, proudly shows off his toys, enjoys a good bully stick, and happily settles into constant-companion mode!
This smart boy knows sit, down, stay, leave it, drop it, and touch. He comes when called, likes car rides, enjoys outdoor fun, and has medium energy. He is house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Bear also sheds generously, so regular brushing comes with the fluffy territory. Chicken may be an allergy trigger, and he receives behavioral medication to help manage anxiety.
Bear has been evaluated through NC State’s Veterinary Behavior Program. His fear-based reactivity requires knowledgeable, careful management. He has nipped a housekeeper when frightened and has a bite history involving redirection when he felt pressured by strangers. These known triggers mean Bear needs an experienced pet parent committed to behavior modification, positive reinforcement, and controlled introductions.
Crates are not suitable for Bear because confinement causes significant distress. He does well alone for short periods when he can remain uncrated. A quieter, adult-only home with a fenced yard and limited visitor traffic would suit him well. Bear has reacted to children and needs a home without them. He is selective with dogs, getting along with some but not others, and his compatibility with cats is unknown.
For the right experienced family, Bear offers intelligence, loyalty, playfulness, impressive fluff, and truly enthusiastic belly-rub appreciation. Could your calm, structured home be the place where this big, goofy guardian can build trust and share his playful side? To learn more about adopting Bear, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

22. Bowie
Adult (5 years 6 months) · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Bowie!
A loyal five-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky/Australian Cattle Dog mix currently in Castle Rock, CO, whose gentle spirit shines through his striking tricolor coat and unwavering devotion to the people he loves. At 65 pounds, Bowie is a calm, affectionate companion who finds happiness in life's simple pleasures, whether he is soaking up the sunshine, taking a leisurely walk, or curling up with one of his favorite stuffed animals for a cozy nap. He also has a charming Husky-inspired way of "talking," often greeting his favorite people with playful howls that are sure to make you smile!
Read more about Bowie
Bowie has completed formal obedience training and proudly knows commands like sit, down, shake, and circle. He travels beautifully, enjoys car rides, comes when called, and settles peacefully when left alone, often choosing a quiet place to relax until his family returns. His easygoing energy makes him a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys a predictable routine and appreciates a dog who is just as happy lounging on the deck as he is exploring the neighborhood.
Like many thoughtful dogs, Bowie communicates when he needs space. He has experienced two bite incidents after being unexpectedly hurt or startled when someone accidentally stepped on or fell onto him. Outside of those very specific situations, he is loving, playful, and deeply connected with his trusted people. His guardians have also worked extensively with a professional trainer to successfully address earlier leash reactivity, and he has done very well since then!
Bowie thrives in a calm, adults-only home with a low-key lifestyle, thoughtful introductions to visitors, and consistent routines. While he happily shared life with a cat for many years, he needs to be the only dog in his next family. He is healthy, neutered, microchipped, house-trained, current on vaccinations, and eats Hill's Science Diet food to support his sensitive stomach.
Bowie has so much companionship, loyalty, and quiet joy to share with the right family. If you are looking for a faithful friend who will happily accompany you through peaceful days and cozy evenings, Bowie may be waiting to meet you! Meet Hannah!
Read more about Hannah
A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Shepherd mix currently in Reseda, CA, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a sleek black coat with bright white accents, ready to begin an exciting new chapter with the right family. Hannah is a large girl weighing 76 pounds, and she greets every new person with genuine enthusiasm, a wagging tail, and a heart full of affection! She absolutely loves spending time with people, especially soaking up cuddles and attention. One of her sweetest quirks is how she melts into a happy puddle whenever an eleven-year-old friend gives her gentle kisses on the face, creating a moment that always brings smiles.
Adventure is Hannah's favorite pastime! She looks forward to long walks, energetic games of fetch, chewing on durable toys, tasty treats, and exploring a securely fenced yard where she can stretch her legs. She is wonderfully food motivated, making training both fun and rewarding! Hannah has completed formal obedience training and proudly knows sit, stay, down, heel, off, touch, give paw, and give kiss. She enjoys practicing her skills with positive reinforcement and is always eager to learn something new. When left alone for short periods, she is content to nap or entertain herself with a favorite toy before happily welcoming her family back.
Hannah is house-trained, crate trained, microchipped, spayed, and current on her vaccinations. She is also managing seasonal allergies with Apoquel. She rides well in the car, comes when called, and thrives with an active routine that includes two daily walks, playtime, and meals twice each day.
Because Hannah has bitten small dogs in her current home and has also chased stray cats, she needs a loving home where she is the only pet. Hannah has never bitten or shown aggression toward a person and has lived comfortably with respectful, school-age children for more than two years. In the right environment, where she can thrive without the presence of small animals, Hannah's intelligence, loyalty, and deeply affectionate nature shine every day!

24. Merlin
Adult (5 years 9 months) · Male · Siberian Husky / Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Merlin!
A spirited almost six-year-old Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix currently in Mill Valley, CA, whose essence is a vibrant burst of adventure wrapped in a striking tricolor coat.
Merlin is a large, 75-pound boy with a playful, friendly, and wonderfully goofy personality that has a way of making every day feel a little brighter! Whether he is splashing through the water on a swimming adventure, racing after sticks tossed across rolling hillsides, or proudly carrying around a mini Rubbermaid trash can as if it were the greatest treasure ever discovered, he approaches life with enthusiasm and a contagious sense of fun.
Read more about Merlin
This energetic companion loves games of tug of war, enjoys hoola hoops, and is always ready for the next outdoor adventure! He already knows commands like sit, stay, and lie down, and he would enjoy continuing to learn through positive reinforcement and engaging training sessions. Merlin thrives when he has structure, plenty of exercise, and meaningful activities that keep both his mind and body busy.
Merlin is compatible with other dogs, although introductions with unneutered males should be managed thoughtfully. He also lived happily alongside a family cat and has shown he can peacefully share his life with feline friends. Calm, respectful children who are school-age and older are a great match for his playful nature. He has no history of biting and enjoys building trusting relationships with the people around him.
Like many intelligent working-breed mixes, Merlin is a clever escape artist who can spot an open door or a gap in fencing. Because of this, he would do well with a securely enclosed space, more acreage to explore safely, and a family who can give him a purpose that taps into his natural instincts. Loud motorcycles, road bikes, and car rides can make him bark, so continued guidance and patience will help him grow even more confident.
Merlin is healthy, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and house-trained, and he is available for long-distance adoption to help him find the right loving home. Could Merlin be the playful partner who joins you for every new adventure? If you would like to welcome this joyful adventurer into your family, please contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

25. Bunny
Senior · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 14 mi from Chicopee

To adopt please fill out an adoption application.
Bunny is a 7yo female Labrador retriever being rehomed by her owner who can no longer keep her. Bunny is incredibly sweet and affectionate with her family. She has a playful personality but is also content to relax and cuddle. Her family reports that, before they adopted Bunny in 2020, she was abused by a man, so she’s timid around unfamiliar men. She typically hides or avoids new people at first. However, with patience and gentle introductions, she warms up well. No known history with small children, so she’s not recommended for children due to her timid nature.

Meet Oliver, affectionately called Ollie!
A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix currently in Washington, D.C., whose essence is a vibrant burst of loyalty wrapped in a striking black coat with white accents.
Read more about Ollie
Weighing about 65 pounds, Ollie is the kind of companion who wins hearts with his intelligence, independence, and unforgettable personality. He comes when called, walks beautifully on a leash, and knows an impressive collection of cues including sit, lay down, stay, spin, paw, go home, go to crate, and even roll over! Highly motivated by treats, especially peanut butter, he enjoys learning and thrives when given clear communication and positive reinforcement.
Ollie is wonderfully adaptable to daily life. Whether the day calls for a long hike, a leisurely stroll, or a peaceful afternoon nap, he is happy to settle into the rhythm of his family. He loves splashing through rivers and streams, chasing sticks, exploring the outdoors, and showing off his curious nature. One of his most endearing qualities is how closely he tunes into the emotions of the people around him. When excitement fills the air, Ollie is ready to join the fun, yet he is equally content relaxing in his favorite spot and enjoying his own space.
Like many thoughtful dogs, Ollie has specific needs that help him feel comfortable and secure. He requires a calm, structured environment and benefits from caregivers who can recognize his body language and respect his boundaries. He can become overstimulated around large groups, is protective of food and high-value items, and has a history of biting in certain situations. Because of this, he needs an experienced pet parent who understands behavior support, is comfortable managing resource guarding, and can continue setting him up for success. He also receives daily medication to help manage anxiety.
Ollie would thrive in a loving home without children and as the only dog, preferably with plenty of space to roam and explore. In return, he offers loyalty, adventure, intelligence, and companionship on his own unique terms.

Meet Moose!
A spirited one-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Puyallup, WA, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a handsome white coat splashed with rich brown patches.
Read more about Moose
At around 67 pounds, Moose is a large boy with an even larger heart! He is still very much a goofy puppy at heart, bringing laughter and affection wherever he goes. One of his favorite ways to ask for attention is by dramatically flopping onto his back for belly rubs, as if he is starring in his own comedy show! When he is not collecting cuddles, you can usually find him proudly carrying a ball, playing fetch, or enjoying one of his favorite chew toys.
Moose is house-trained, crate-trained, and comfortable relaxing in his kennel when left alone. After a good play session or walk, he is happy to settle down beside his people and soak up affection. He knows sit, stay, down, and leave it, and his love of treats makes him eager to learn through positive reinforcement.
Like many young dogs, Moose is full of enthusiasm! He sometimes gets so excited about meeting new people, dogs, squirrels, or other fascinating discoveries that he forgets his manners. With consistency, patience, and guidance, he shows great potential and a willingness to learn. He has no history of biting, growling, or nipping people or animals.
Moose is compatible with older, respectful children who will not be easily knocked over by his happy greetings. He has generally been friendly with other dogs, though he can become overstimulated and benefits from thoughtful introductions. He is also suitable for a cat-tolerant home, as he has shown curiosity rather than aggression around cats. Moose is scheduled to be neutered prior to adoption, and his vaccinations will be brought up to date during that visit as well.
An active individual, couple, or family who enjoys outdoor adventures, enrichment activities, and quality time would help Moose continue growing into the remarkable companion he is becoming. His future family will gain a loyal friend who loves deeply, rides well in the car, enjoys playtime, and never misses an opportunity for a cuddle!

Denim has a history of a serious incident involving a small dog that resulted in fatal injuries. Since then, she has participated in professional training and has successfully spent time around compatible dogs in structured environments. She has never shown aggression toward people and is known for being affectionate, social, and deeply bonded to her family. Because of her history, Denim needs a home without cats or small dogs. She may be compatible with some larger dogs following slow introductions, careful management, and proper supervision.
Most of all, Denim needs a family who appreciates loyal companionship, endless cuddles, and a best friend who will happily stay by their side through every chapter of life. A spirited five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently in Bowman, GA, whose blue fawn coat and bright eyes hint at a joyful, affectionate companion ready for his next chapter. Santana is a loving boy who lights up around people, greeting everyone with his adorable happy foot taps and a flurry of kisses if you let him! He weighs about 65 pounds and carries a medium energy spirit, balancing playful bursts with cozy companionship.

His favorite game involves a small rubber tire that he chases in gleeful circles, leaping high to catch it when it spins through the air. Santana knows his basic commands like sit and stay, comes when called, and enjoys car rides, always eager to be right by your side. He is crate-trained and feels most comfortable relaxing in his crate when left alone, as he can become destructive and curious with food if given too much freedom, especially if snacks are within reach.
Santana would thrive in a loving home where he is the only dog, as he has had ongoing altercations with other dogs in his current environment, especially male dogs, and requires careful separation to help him feel secure. While he can be selective with dogs, he is very good with people and is affectionate, social, and gentle with both adults and children. With proper introductions and thoughtful management, he has shown he can do better with some female dogs.
He would do well with a family who understands large, strong companions and can provide structure, supervision, and consistency. Santana communicates his discomfort with clear body language and benefits from positive reinforcement training to build calm, confident interactions. Due to his natural prey drive, a home without small animals is recommended. A fenced yard will also help him enjoy safe, happy playtime while staying active and engaged.
Santana is vaccinated and microchipped, and he handles routine veterinary visits well while currently needing to have a broken upper canine tooth extracted, along with a small mole above his eye that should be evaluated by a veterinarian. His adoption will require that he be neutered by his new family, and our team can provide guidance and resources to support that process.
With his golden personality and constant companion nature, he brings laughter, comfort, and a special knack for sensing when someone needs a little extra love. Could this charming boy be the heart of your next adventure? If you are ready to welcome a loyal sidekick who will keep you smiling, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Santana!

Senior (8 years 6 months) · Male · Boxer (short coat) · 15 mi from Chicopee

Meet Simba!
A goofy eight-year-old Boxer currently in Bellingham, MA, whose essence is a joyful whirlwind wrapped in a handsome brown brindle coat with white accents. Simba is the kind of boy who treats every moment like a delightful mystery, whether it is a rolling toy or a funny sound across the room! He is wonderfully food motivated, making snack time his favorite event and a great opportunity for positive reinforcement and learning. Simba is now looking for a new loving home after his devoted pet parent passed away.

Despite his large 97 pound frame, Simba is convinced he is a lap dog and happily leans into his people for cuddles, often forgetting all about personal space. He sleeps peacefully when left alone, enjoys chew toys, and lights up for walks and car rides! Simba is very friendly with other dogs and has shared his life with a canine companion (Sophie), bringing playful and easygoing energy into the mix. He has not spent time with cats yet, but his gentle, social nature suggests he may be open to new friendships with a thoughtful introduction.
With children, Simba is affectionate and patient, though his enthusiasm can be a bit bouncy for smaller kids, so guidance and supervision help everyone feel comfortable. He can be a little timid in new situations and may pause before warming up to unfamiliar people, but once he feels secure, his sweet and content personality shines.
Simba benefits from a routine with smaller, more frequent meals to support his sensitive tummy and occasionally requires a special diet. He has received care for hip discomfort after overexertion and has a few harmless skin bumps.
Simba has lived successfully with his sister Sophie for many years and could either be adopted alongside her or thrive as an only dog in the right home.
This lovable goofball thrives in a calm, confident home where his family understands Boxer charm, slobbery kisses, and his constant desire to be close. He would be compatible with a household where someone is around often, ready for companionship and cuddles!

Adopting a large dog in Chicopee
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
