She has been an absolute joy to have in our family. She is very friendly, quiet (rarely barks), calm, and easy going. She does well in the crate and prefers it when left alone and sometimes when she just wants to chill in it. She loves naps and bedtime and sleeps like it’s her job! She knows “sit” and is working on other commands. She is doing well on the leash and loves to sniff her way around the neighborhood as we walk. She does much better in the car now that she’s more familiar with riding and on her last trip to the vet sat quietly looking out the window. We don’t have other pets, but she did well in playgroup at the shelter and recently at another foster’s home with medium and large dogs. She very much enjoyed playing and spending time with them. She enjoys wandering around the yard so a fenced yard is needed. Lua is an amazing dog who will make a wonderful, calm, loyal family member. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. 8. Winston

1 Year 3 Months · Male · Hound / Mixed · 33 mi from Spring Arbor

Meet Winston

A 1.5 year old sweet agent of chaos who needs some work but is worth the effort! We believe him to be half coonhound and half lab.

Winston is…
High Energy
Crate & Potty Trained
Kid Friendly
Dog friendly (AFTER a slow intro)

His biggest areas of opportunity are impulse control, learning to embrace moments of calm even when exciting things are happening, and greeting other dogs, especially while on leash.

While he lives with a cat now he does want to chase him. He doesn’t seem to want to hurt him but is still working on “leave it” so he’d do best in home with no cats at this time.

Read more about Winston

Winston loves all people and is sweet as pie, but he needs a home with another playful dog and/or acreage to run. His recall is decent and he’ll run a property and come back when called, as long as he’s not mid small critter chase (he is part coonhound after all!).

If you’re in a place to take on a project with a whole lot of love and play to give, Winston may be the dog for you!!

9. Mack

2 Years 9 Months · Male · Bluetick Coonhound · 33 mi from Spring Arbor

Meet Mack

Mack is a 2-year-old Bluetick Coonhound looking for his forever home. Despite not having the most stable start to life and being bounced around between a couple of homes, Mack hasn’t let it dim his spirit. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy just waiting for the right person to give him the love and stability he deserves.

Mack is great with other dogs and is currently living with 3 other coonhounds in his foster home. He does need a home without children, and he would do best with someone who understands hounds and is willing to give him patience, consistency, and time to settle in.

Read more about Mack

This handsome guy LOVES going for walks and will absolutely let you know when he spots deer or other critters He’s proud of his beautiful hound voice, so a house would likely be a better fit for him than an apartment.

Mack is crate trained and likes sleeping in his crate with his blanket. He’s also a big fan of attention — he’ll lean right into you for pets or flop over for belly rubs whenever he gets the chance.

Mack may have a few quirks that make him a little harder to place, but underneath it all he’s a loving, loyal dog who simply needs his special person. If you’re hound-savvy and looking for a companion with lots of personality and love to give, Mack could be your perfect match ❤️
