I just desperately need OUT of here.I absolutely LOVE going for walks! Sure, I've been known to tow my human around like a little freight train, but I'm working on my leash manners, and I'm getting better! Especially if we stop for treat breaks!!!! Listen, I would probably sell my soul for a snack. I'm incredibly food motivated, and the Kong Wobbler is basically my favorite invention ever. Meet Phyllis! Phyllis is a sweet Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) mix. She was found in the desert with three other dogs similar aged (likely litter mates and potentially dumped and left to fend for themselves). They were of course very scared and painfully thin when they came in but they have all come such a long way.While she has made progress, the shelter is still a scary place for her. She stays curled up in the corner of his kennel, hoping the world will slow down.She needs a patient person who will let her move at her own pace. Approximate DOB 12/2/2025 – 32 lbs
History: Bandit came to us after he bit a child in the family. He was scheduled for euthanasia however, due to his eagerness to learn, his love for people, and his age the shelter he was at reached out to us to see if we could assist. We agreed to take him in and work with him. He was transferred to us in July 2026 and we have been working with him to learn how to properly interact with people. He still has work to do but he is learning. He is a very smart boy and eager to learn. Our belief is that at some point in his young life he was played with roughly to the point that he became snappy in defense. We have been working on it and he has learned I can take his stuff and handle his food without him having to worry I will take it all away.
Current Behavior: Very smart and learns quickly what is expected. He is a shadow dog who loves to be with his people. He does at times gets over excited but that is expected with young herding type breeds. He does at times think he is a lap dog so will run and take a flying leap into my lap but most of the time is just as happy sitting at my feet watching his surroundings. He knows how to walk on a leash, sit, and place, loves to play fetch and tug, uses the dog door like a champ, and doesn't rip up his bedding. Overall he is just a lovely boy. His only issues he is still working on is he shows his teeth during play (not mean just when he's playing tug his teeth show when he's super excited). He can be possessive of his food so I have been petting him and handling his food and switching out treats for some o his kibble so he associates me sitting there with something good. He does know "no" and soft when playing when he gets too close to my hands so he's doing much better. Because of these issues and his excitement we are not recommending him for younger children - he's just a tad too excitable to be gentle enough not to hurt them and we would hate for him to grab a finger or hand on accident or even snap or jump on a child while he's eating or playing. He needs an active adult or teen who can play fetch, run with him, and/or swim with him to tire him out as he is high energy but he is amazing when he's tired.
Housetraining- perfect with a dog door
Dogs- He attempts to be dominant so would do best with an active stable older more dominant dog that will set him right and not allow him to bully them. Currently he is with a large male and a medium sized female that he loves to play with and they have been teaching him proper play behavior.
His ideal home should include a knowledgeable savvy dog owner who is active and can put his energy and intelligence to use with running, toys, etc. He is a quiet boy who watches everything and just loves to be with his person playing and hanging out. He would excel in speed events such as flyball, agility, etc - but even just someone who bikes, hikes, and/or runs would be awesome. He loves people and playing with the other dogs he's just young and needs to continue working on training and learning how to behave properly. He will make a wonderful addition to a loving, active family.

7. Emerald
Emerald is a beautiful, classic-looking Husky with a black and white coat accented by lovely tan (red) highlights and gorgeous blue eyes! She is about 13 months old and weighs approximately 45 pounds.
Emerald is a new addition to Siberian Husky Rescue of New Mexico, so we’re still getting to know her personality and preferences. We’ll share more as we learn about this pretty girl!
She is not spayed yet, but the rescue will take care of that, along with getting her fully vetted and up to date on her medical care.
We believe Emerald may be Ryder’s sister, but we plan to place them in separate homes.

8. Ryder
Ryder is a handsome 13-month-old Husky with a beautiful black and white coat accented with a little tan (red) and striking blue eyes! He currently weighs about 45 pounds and may fill out a bit more with regular meals, good care, and lots of love.
Ryder is not neutered yet, but don’t worry! SHRNM will take care of that, along with getting him up to date on his vaccinations and providing a microchip.
He may be Emerald’s sibling, but we do not plan to place them together. Ryder is at a wonderful age to learn, train, and become part of a loving family.

9. Ash
Ash is a strikingly handsome, all-white Husky with two different colored eyes — one beautiful blue and one warm brown! At 3 years old and a nice, sturdy 68 pounds, he’s a gorgeous boy who is sure to turn heads.
Ash is not neutered yet, but don't worry! Siberian Husky Rescue of New Mexico will take care of that before his adoption is finalized.

10. Roma
MEET ROMA! YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND IS WAITING!
Roma is a new addition to Siberian Husky Rescue of New Mexico, and this approximately 5-year-old girl is an absolute sweetheart!
Roma found herself needing a new home when the young couple who adopted her from a local shelter parted ways and could no longer keep her. Now, this loving girl is looking for someone who will give her the forever home she deserves.

She is one of the sweetest female huskies you will ever meet! She loves hanging out inside with her people and would be perfectly happy just being part of your everyday life. She is carrying a little extra weight, so leisurely
walks with her new family would help her get healthier while building a special bond.

Roma does take medication to control seizures, but the good news is she hasn’t had a seizure in the last 10 months! Her medication costs about $60 per month, and

11. Cato
Meet Cato, an 8-year-old Husky/Malamute mix who is hoping that his next home will finally be his forever home.
Cato has already had three homes in his lifetime, and through no fault of his own, he is facing another transition. His current family originally found him wandering the neighborhood after his elderly owner was no longer able to care for him. They opened their home to him and gave him a safe place to land, but their family situation has now changed, and they can no longer give Cato the time and attention he deserves.

At 8 years old, Cato has been through enough changes. He doesn’t need another temporary stop—he needs the family who will love him and keep him for the rest of his life. ❤️
Cato is a sweet senior gentleman who enjoys having his people around. He is frightened by fireworks and thunderstorms, so he’ll need a family who will be patient and reassuring when those scary noises come around.
He has lived successfully with two cats and was wonderful with them. When it comes to other dogs, Cato can be hit or miss, so a meet-and-greet is recommended with any potential canine siblings.
Cato is around 70 pounds and will do best with someone who is comfortable handling a strong, larger dog. But more than anything, he needs stability, patience, love, and a family who won’t give up on him.
Cato needs a foster or, better yet, his forever family.

Meet Palmer! Your Next Family Dog Might Be Waiting for You!
Palmer may be staying with a Husky rescue, but we’re pretty sure someone forgot to tell him he’s supposed to look like a Husky! With his beautiful white coat and warm brown eyes, Palmer looks much more like a Lab—and honestly, we don’t think he has much (if any!) Husky in him.
But Husky or not,
Palmer is one great dog!
At 5½ years old and just under 50 pounds, he is the perfect size—not too big, not too small. He is
friendly, social, and loves people
, making him a wonderful candidate for a family looking for a loving companion.

Palmer made a quick recovery after coming out of the shelter and has settled right in with his foster family. He gets along well with the Huskies in his foster home and has shown just how easygoing and adaptable he can be.
We’re hopeful that somewhere out there is a family who won’t care that Palmer doesn’t quite look like a Husky. They’ll simply see what we see:
a really great dog who deserves a really great home.

13. Taiga
Taiga is a beautiful Husky mix puppy who is as unique as she is adorable! Her mama looks very Husky, and Taiga has inherited some of those gorgeous Husky features—including her striking
parti-eyes
, with both brown and blue in her eyes.
Taiga is mostly white with a distinctive black stripe running down her tail, giving her a look all her own. And that tail? It’s definitely going to be wagging a lot once she finds her forever family!
Taiga is currently in a foster home with one of her brothers and several adult dogs. She is
shy and submissive with other dogs
, but she is learning that the world can be a pretty wonderful place.
