Puppy · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed · 13 mi from Creedmoor

I-Hop is an adorable pup full joy and love - and he is waiting to spend forever with you! He absolutely adores being held and snuggled up close. He is the best of both worlds - sleeping on your shoulder (his favorite spot), but also always up for a playful game. He’s a big fan of stuffed animals and enjoys a good tug-of-war.Despite his small size, this guy is incredibly brave and doesn’t let his “chicken wing” leg hold him back! He’s even learned how to climb stairs that are bigger than he is!He still has that adorably wonderful puppy breath. Like any puppy, he is still learning that puppy teeth are for toys only, but he’s easily redirected.

3. Bandit
Young · Male · Cattle Dog / Mixed · 13 mi from Creedmoor

Hi there, I'm Bandit! I’m a 1-year-old Cattle Dog mix on a mission to find my ultimate partner-in-crime. If your ideal day involves throwing a tennis ball, playing with a flirt pole, and giving out endless belly rubs, we are going to get along great!I am a high-energy guy who loves to stay busy. I’m already a pro at walking on a leash, I’ve mastered the "sit" command, and I’m currently working on expanding my trick vocabulary. I would do best with a family who understands I am a super smart guy who needs physical and mental stimulation. I'm fully house-trained and completely comfortable in my crate, so I promise to be a very good boy in the house.

(Just make sure you keep me stocked up on hard chew bones—they're my favorite!).I do have a heart murmur, but honestly? It just means my love is extra special. It doesn't affect my energy or my love for life one bit. Here is my dream scenario: I want to be your one and only! I prefer to be the only pet in the house because I like my humans' attention focused entirely on me. I’m a little unsure about how I feel around tiny humans right now, so if you have kiddos, I'd love a home where they know how to give me a little space, read my body language, and practice respectful interactions while we build up our confidence together! Are you looking for a loyal, active, ball-obsessed best bud? 4. Amelia
Puppy · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / Bulldog / Mixed · 13 mi from Creedmoor

Meet Amelia, One of Our Georgia Girls!Amelia is approximately 6 months old, weighs around 20 pounds, and is an American Pit Bull Terrier/Bulldog mix. She is one of our very special Georgia girls, and she's looking for a forever home alongside her sister and best friend, Bessie! If there's one thing you should know about Amelia, it's that this girl is DETERMINED! Amelia was born with significant physical abnormalities that affect her mobility, but she doesn't let that stop her from trying to get where she wants to go. She moves by pushing with her back legs and scooting her front half along the floor.
Read more about Amelia
Her front legs are splayed outward and provide very little support. She's not going to win any races, but she certainly gets an A for effort!Amelia is the more adventurous of the two sisters. She loves toys, enjoys playing tug-of-war with her people, and absolutely adores snuggling. At the end of the day, there's nothing better than being curled up on the couch with someone who loves her.A Little About Her Special NeedsAmelia and Bessie were born with significant mobility challenges. X-rays revealed abnormalities in the alignment of their skulls and spines that affect their ability to move normally. Their veterinarians cannot predict whether these abnormalities will affect their lifespans or lead to complications in the future. What we do know is that Amelia is currently comfortable, happy, and not experiencing pain. Her condition has remained stable while she's been in our care.Amelia can potty on her own and will scoot away afterward, but she cannot get to a pee pad independently, so she'll need help staying clean. She sometimes wears diapers. She eats kibble softened with water to make mealtimes easier. Most of her day is spent relaxing in a comfortable bed, playing with her toys, enjoying attention, and keeping her sister company. She needs help being carried or transported for longer distances. We're also exploring the possibility of a custom wheelchair to give her additional mobility.Amelia does well with other dogs and would likely enjoy a home with gentle, respectful children. She doesn't need a fenced yard or a particular type of home, just a safe environment, someone willing to accommodate her mobility needs, and plenty of love. Two Sisters, One Forever HomeAmelia and Bessie have been together their entire lives, and their bond is incredibly important. Because of their limited mobility, they provide companionship and comfort for each other throughout the day. They must be adopted together.PIPs Special Care AdoptionAmelia and Bessie are being offered through our PIPs Special Care Adoption program. There is no adoption fee for the girls, and PIPs will remain a lifelong partner in their care.Their adopter will be responsible for everyday expenses, including food, supplies, preventatives, routine vaccinations, and wellness visits. PIPs will help cover major medical needs related to their disabilities, with the specific arrangements discussed and agreed upon before adoption. The girls are current on their vaccinations. They are not spayed because of veterinary concerns regarding anesthesia and surgery, and their future surgical care will need to be discussed individually. We don't know what the future holds for Amelia and Bessie. They may have years ahead of them, or their medical conditions may eventually create challenges we cannot predict. What we do know is that they deserve a family who will love them for however long that may be.Amelia doesn't need a perfect home. She needs a patient, loving family willing to embrace her differences and give her the best life possible.Ready to adopt? pipsrescue.org or have questions - email Nicole.k@pipsrescue.orgWatch Amelia in Action!Amelia's determination as she navigates a doorway:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFxiVWRqPi4Amelia and Bessie enjoying a snack and snuggle time:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaMjQYIqh2U

She's happiest when she's comfortable, close to someone she loves, and getting plenty of attention.A Little About Her Special NeedsBessie was born with significant physical abnormalities that affect her mobility. Like her sister Amelia, her front legs are splayed outward and provide very little support. X-rays also revealed abnormalities in the alignment of her skull and spine.Bessie has more limited mobility than Amelia. She can push with her back legs and scoot herself along, but she moves slowly and generally needs help getting from place to place.Despite these challenges, Bessie is a happy, comfortable puppy who is not experiencing pain. Her condition has remained stable, although her veterinarians cannot predict whether her physical abnormalities will affect her lifespan or cause complications later in life.Bessie can potty on her own but cannot get to a pee pad independently, so she needs help staying clean. She's good at letting her people know when she needs assistance and will whine to get their attention. She eats dehydrated food prepared to make mealtimes easier.Bessie also has some sensitivity to certain sounds, particularly when the television or music first comes on or when other dogs become noisy. We've discovered that a little pair of earmuffs helps her settle, and once she adjusts to the background noise, she's usually just fine. Most of Bessie's day is spent relaxing with Amelia, enjoying affection, and snuggling with her people. She does well with other dogs and would likely be comfortable around gentle, respectful children. She doesn't require a fenced yard or a particular home layout, but she does need a safe environment, help with her mobility and hygiene, and someone who understands that her daily routine looks a little different from that of most dogs. Two Sisters, One Forever HomeBessie and Amelia absolutely adore each other. Because their mobility is so limited, having each other nearby provides companionship and comfort throughout the day. These girls have been together since birth, and we are committed to keeping them together. They must be adopted as a pair.PIPs Special Care AdoptionBessie and Amelia are being offered through our PIPs Special Care Adoption program. There is no adoption fee, and PIPs will remain a lifelong partner in their care.Their adopter will be responsible for everyday expenses, including food, supplies, preventatives, routine vaccinations, and wellness visits. 6. Hazel
Puppy · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed · 13 mi from Creedmoor

Meet Hazel! Hazel is a sweet, affectionate girl who is settling beautifully into life in a loving home - but can't wait to spend forever with you. Hazel has a serious talent for cuddling and loves nothing more than curling up in a lap for a long, cozy nap (snoring included!) but she will also happily go to her crate on her own for a nap. She’s a little shadow who loves following her people around the house and being part of whatever they’re doing. When she’s not snuggling, Hazel enjoys running around the yard, going for neighborhood walks, riding in the car, and spending time with kids and other dogs.

7. Stevie
Adult · Male · Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed · 13 mi from Creedmoor

Meet Stevie! He may be a tiny 8-pound poodle mix, but he has a big personality and plenty of spunk! His limited vision doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. He loves being outside, exploring the yard, going for walks, and taking in all the interesting smells around him.Because Stevie is partially blind, he needs a little extra consideration when meeting people and moving through his surroundings. He can be startled if someone approaches him without warning, so simply talking to him as you come near lets him know you’re there and helps him feel safe. Slow introductions and a predictable routine are important as he gets to know his new surroundings and his people.Stevie is also quite the conversationalist! If the house gets too quiet for too long, you may hear him talking to you because he wants to know where his people are.
Read more about Stevie
He loves being near his humans and is happiest when he knows they’re close by. When you’re busy, though, Stevie is perfectly content to curl up for a nap in a sunny spot, beside you, in his cozy bed, or in his crate.Because of his partial blindness and his need for gentle, predictable interactions, Stevie would likely do best in a home without young children. Young children can move quickly and unpredictably, which may startle him and make it difficult for him to feel secure. The good news - Stevie is house trained and crate trained! Once he learns your routine and knows he can trust you, he settles into life beautifully. If you’re looking for a little dog with a big personality who will happily keep you company, Stevie just might be your guy.

8. Penny Lane
Adult · Female · Dachshund / Mixed · 13 mi from Creedmoor

Meet Penny: Professional Cuddler, Side-Eye Specialist & Wheelchair Queen Penny is a 4-year-old Dachshund mix with a big personality packed into one adorable little body. Penny has IVDD and is paralyzed in her back legs, but please don’t tell her she’s supposed to let that slow her down - she certainly didn’t get the memo.Penny maneuvers around the house incredibly well on her own and has a wheelchair that she LOVES for walks and adventures. She also rides beautifully in the car, making her the perfect little copilot for someone who wants a sidekick to tag along. When Penny first meets someone, she can be a little nervous and needs a moment to decide whether you’re worthy of joining her inner circle.
Read more about Penny Lane
Fortunately, the application process is pretty quick. Once she warms up, Penny is an affectionate little Stage 5 Clinger who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Couch? She’s there. Bed? Obviously. Going to another room for 30 seconds? Penny would like to know why she wasn’t consulted.Because Penny loves her humans so much, her ideal home would be one where someone is around fairly often. She tolerates a crate when necessary, but if Penny were writing this profile herself, she would like it formally documented that she does not recommend crates and feels there are much better places to spend her time - preferably wherever you are. Other dogs? Yes! Penny does well with other dogs when given slow, structured introductions that allow her to feel safe and comfortable. Cats? Also yes. Penny currently lives with a household cat and mostly ignores him. He believes he runs the house, and Penny has apparently decided it isn’t worth the paperwork to challenge him.Because of her paralysis, Penny does not have control over when she urinates or has a bowel movement. She needs her bladder expressed, but she is very easy to express, and she and her foster family have her routine down to a science. Once you learn her schedule and care routine, it simply becomes part of the day. What Penny needs may look a little different from the average dog, but what she wants is incredibly simple: Her people nearby A comfy place to snuggle Walks in her wheels Car rides and adventures Patience while she gets to know you Someone who will love her exactly as she isPenny doesn’t know that she’s a “special needs dog.” She knows that she can get where she wants to go, that her wheelchair means ADVENTURE, and that humans were clearly invented for cuddling. If you’ve been looking for a loyal little shadow with a whole lot of personality, Penny might just be your girl.

Adopting a dog in Creedmoor
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
