1. Bojangles

Young · Male · Hound / Mountain Cur / Mixed (short coat)

My name is Bojangles! But you can call me Bo. I'm a Hound/Mountain Cur? I'm 3 years old, 44 pounds. Low to medium energy. His foster parents are still learning with Bo, but this is what we know so far:

I'm housetrained and appropriate chewer.

Bojangles isn't fond of the crate. But working on it.

My foster parents can run errands and he's ok to left out.

Walking at Parks are a bit much for Bo with bikes and other dogs. He can be leash reactive when startled or approaching dogs. A quieter area is better with less foot traffic.

Bo loves car rides. Good in the car.

Good with children. Cats unknown.

Bo is good with other dogs. But might come on to strong at first but settles down. To learn more about Bojangles, apply on our website at https://www.powellpaws.org/adoption-application

2. Bagel

Young · Female · Beagle (short coat)

Hi, I'm Bagel ~4 year old female Beagle. I was picked up “running errands” outside a Family Dollar down in Athens. The folks at PAWS transported me to Columbus, where I have been living the good life with my foster family.

So far they say I am sweet, a little reserved, but starting to open up after 2 weeks of routine and stability. I love to snuggle up on the couch, or go for a walk. I'm good with kids and other dogs. I met a cat at the vet's office and was curious but cautious.

Read more about Bagel

I will do the hound howl in my crate for maybe 10 min then settle when the humans are gone. They think I might be ok left alone out of my crate too, I'm pretty chill. I'm still working on potty training, but my foster family says I'm 90% there, which for two weeks in a new place is very good. I am treat motivated....if you have the right treats (meaty are my favorite), and I love praise/pats from people.

I am looking for someone who will be patient as I warms up and then I will be your constant companion!

Bagel is currently going through treatment for heartworm, but can be still be adopted during this time if the adopter is onboard for taking her to all her appointments (paid for by PAWS @ our vet) and following exercise restrictions.

3. Snoopy

Adult (5 years 4 months) · Male · Beagle (medium coat)

Meet adorable Snoopy. Rescued from an overcrowded shelter where he was found as a stray. Snoopy is 5 years old and currently 33 pounds, although a bit chubby. He is dog friendly and has the great Beagle temperament. We are unsure about cats at this time although he spotted one on a walk and didn’t seem interested. Respectful older children shouldn’t be an issue. He rides well in the car and walks well on the leash, just be ready when he spots a squirrel. As usual for his breed, we do prefer a fenced yard. He is also house trained. Snoopy is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. His adoption fee is $225. If interested in Snoopy, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.

4. Roma

Female · Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed

Hi there, my name is Roma! I’m a female hound looking mixed breed and weigh about 55 pounds. I am about 4 years old and my foster mom says that I’m pretty much a perfect pup! I walk well on a leash, I’m potty trained, crate trained (though I also do fine left alone outside of the crate), good with other dogs and small humans, and just the sweetest girl. I also like to play with toys, especially the squeaky ones!

I was found as a stray running in the woods and unfortunately picked up a couple treatable diseases while there, one of them being heart worm. What this means is that I have a couple months or more of treatment I need to go through, which includes being on a strict exercise restriction during this time. I understand that this might make it hard for me to be picked right now, but I really wanted to see if my forever family is out there. My foster parents say I’m well worth it! I am currently available for foster to adopt so PAWS will cover all treatment costs with our vet. I am truly so sweet and loving and I promise to make you smile everyday!

5. Otto

Young · Male · Pointer / Mixed (short coat)

Hi there, I’m Otto! I’m an 11-month-old hound/pointer pup. I am currently 42 lbs. here is some more info about me:

-Great with other dogs!

-Skittish in new places and around new people. All siblings from this litter were more fearful of men but is not aggressive- just will probably be more comfortable with females initially. Once he gets to know you, he is very snuggly and sweet.

-He would do best in a home with another dog that is friendly around people and confident on leash to help him. Outdoor adventures with a dog friend would be good for him.

-Crate trained. Is crated next to Sallie at least 4 days a week for 8 hours per day. He will probably be fine loose eventually, but he still occasionally chomps on things like most adolescent dogs.

-Did well with his cat test. Disengaged from the cat easily and was more interested in finding cat food.

-Rides well in the car. Occasionally will bark when he sees something out the window.

-Housetrained (but you do have to pay attention to him)

-He is a good boy!

6. Prongs

Young · Male · German Shorthaired Pointer / Mixed (short coat)

Hi I’m Prongs! I’m at 7-8 month GSP mix and I’m looking for a home! I’m located in Cincinnati but I can be adopted in Columbus or here! I’m good with other dogs and got rescued with another dog named Padfoot! I have 2 brothers also with PAWS too! I like cats, they’re pretty interesting but I leave them alone once they’ve had enough of me. I’m a shy guy but I love people once I get to know them. I’d do better with older kids or calm younger ones as loud noises and sudden movements scare me. My favorite thing to do is lay in the grass out in the backyard so if you have a fenced in backyard, that would be awesome! But if you don’t that’s alright too! I’m learning to be in a home again as I’ve been a stray and haven’t been taught anything.

Read more about Prongs

I’m working on some commands, potty training, and walking on a leash. I like to go to the door when I need to go potty to let my foster mom know I need to go out. I do sleep in the crate when my foster family leaves and goes to bed but I do like to express my concerns and opinions for a little bit before I settle down. I really prefer a bed. I’m the sweetest guy and I will love you forever! If you’re looking for a new pup to add to your family, please consider me!

7. Scooter

Adult (1 year 7 months) · Male · Australian Shepherd / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (long coat)

Meet Scooter. Rescued from a shelter in southern OH after his people surrendered him. Thus is a great dog and will make an awesome companion to an active family willing to exercise him. Scooter would love a canine companion, one that likes to play would be a bonus. He should go to a cat free home. He has been very friendly with everyone he has met but has kittens been around children since with us. His temperament seems good so older respectful children should fine. He rides like a dream in the car. A fenced yard is preferred. Scooter is house trained and crate trained. He is neutered and all his vetting is up to date. Scooter’s adoption fee is $225. If interested in Scooter, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.

8. Ziggy

Adult · Male · Unknown breed (short coat)

I’m Ziggy, a 7 year old heeler/terrier mix and would really like a dog buddy to play with! I weigh 75 pounds and don’t know my size, so when I get excited, I may be a bit sturdy for small dogs or young kids. I really like fetching tennis balls, playing tug-o-war and being around people. I know some commands like sit, shake, down, and would love to learn more. I’m easily bribe-able with treats! When I’m done playing, I like to be a couch potato and will snuggle next to you. I do all my business outside and never had an accident in the house. I don’t like the crate or being confined, but I am trustworthy enough to be left out while my humans aren’t home. I also like car rides and will hop right in. The dogtor did a checkup and said everything looks good so I’m ready to meet my furever family!

9. Tula Bean

Adult (5 years 10 months) · Female · Thai Ridgeback / Mixed (medium coat)

Hello! My name is Tula and I came from Cambodia during the pandemic. I was found wandering the streets with my brother as a puppy. I’m not sure who my parents are, but I found a nice person and moved to the United States in 2021.

Up until recently, I had been living with a young family but I am uncomfortable being around small children. We tried for two years, but my family thought it best to find a home where I could be happier.

Read more about Tula Bean

I love to be outside, take hikes in the woods, play with squeaky ball toys, and sofa time with my foster family. I am skittish around new people, requiring time and patience to warm up to a new environment. My foster parents say that I am independent and enjoy being the boss of the household. Tula will do best as an only dog with no other free roaming pets or young children.

We recently learned a lot about Tula Bean's genetic background. Thai Ridgeback breeds are selective of their people, loyal, intelligent, and very active. They love to chase small critters and would do extremely well in agility courses. She is incredibly graceful, prances around the backyard happily, and loves to throw her head back like a sea lion. Tula will do well in a calm home and understands that she needs to hang out in a crate while her people work. She is housetrained and has done well in the car.Tula is VERY treat motivated (especially loves cheese), learns fast, and approaches us excitedly for attention. Have we mentioned how soft she is?

She will not be attending PAWS adoption events, so please reach out to schedule a meet and greet with Tula today!
