2. Bojangles
Young · Male · Hound / Mountain Cur / Mixed (short coat)

My name is Bojangles! But you can call me Bo. I'm a Hound/Mountain Cur? I'm 3 years old, 44 pounds. Low to medium energy. His foster parents are still learning with Bo, but this is what we know so far:
I'm housetrained and appropriate chewer.
Bojangles isn't fond of the crate. But working on it.
My foster parents can run errands and he's ok to left out.
Walking at Parks are a bit much for Bo with bikes and other dogs. He can be leash reactive when startled or approaching dogs. A quieter area is better with less foot traffic.
Bo loves car rides. Good in the car.
Good with children. Cats unknown.

3. Bagel
Young · Female · Beagle (short coat)

Hi, I'm Bagel ~4 year old female Beagle. I was picked up “running errands” outside a Family Dollar down in Athens. The folks at PAWS transported me to Columbus, where I have been living the good life with my foster family.
So far they say I am sweet, a little reserved, but starting to open up after 2 weeks of routine and stability. I love to snuggle up on the couch, or go for a walk. I'm good with kids and other dogs. I met a cat at the vet's office and was curious but cautious.
Read more about Bagel
I will do the hound howl in my crate for maybe 10 min then settle when the humans are gone. They think I might be ok left alone out of my crate too, I'm pretty chill. I'm still working on potty training, but my foster family says I'm 90% there, which for two weeks in a new place is very good. I am treat motivated....if you have the right treats (meaty are my favorite), and I love praise/pats from people.
I am looking for someone who will be patient as I warms up and then I will be your constant companion!
Bagel is currently going through treatment for heartworm, but can be still be adopted during this time if the adopter is onboard for taking her to all her appointments (paid for by PAWS @ our vet) and following exercise restrictions.

4. Roma
Female · Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed

Hi there, my name is Roma! I’m a female hound looking mixed breed and weigh about 55 pounds. I am about 4 years old and my foster mom says that I’m pretty much a perfect pup! I walk well on a leash, I’m potty trained, crate trained (though I also do fine left alone outside of the crate), good with other dogs and small humans, and just the sweetest girl. I also like to play with toys, especially the squeaky ones!
Read more about Roma
I was found as a stray running in the woods and unfortunately picked up a couple treatable diseases while there, one of them being heart worm. What this means is that I have a couple months or more of treatment I need to go through, which includes being on a strict exercise restriction during this time. I understand that this might make it hard for me to be picked right now, but I really wanted to see if my forever family is out there. My foster parents say I’m well worth it! I am currently available for foster to adopt so PAWS will cover all treatment costs with our vet. I am truly so sweet and loving and I promise to make you smile everyday!

5. Amber
Adult (1 year 5 months) · Female · Chihuahua

Meet Amber! This little gem is nearly perfect. Amber is exceptionally smart, and willing to please her caretaker. After a week in foster care, she has almost mastered going potty outside, with only a few BM accidents near the potty pad. After just a few days, she is doing well with sit, stay, and come. Her foster mom thinks she would make a great agility dog. She's very athletic, but also likes to lay near her person for cuddle time. Amber gets along well with other dogs, and cats. She's friendly with people, but when tested with small children, she hid behind her foster mom but didn't snap or growl. We suspect she had never seen children before. Don't pass up this wonderful little girl.

6. Lulu
Adult · Female · Collie (medium coat)

Lulu is an expert at chillin’, maxin’ and relaxin’. When she first discovered comfort, she found her bliss — and she has no intention of giving it up! On her first day in her foster home, she immediately jumped on the couch, rolled over onto her back and fell asleep. She loves to be next to her person, soaking up all the petting she can get. Learning new commands? Let’s just say it takes a little persuasion to convince Lulu to interrupt her relaxation routine.
Read more about Lulu
Lulu loves her person so much that she sometimes feels the need to play bodyguard, barking when someone approaches. She has to be instructed to stop, and then all is well. She responds well to being corrected. Lulu loves women, while men and children need to earn her trust.
Which one of us can’t relate to a dog who loves her comfort and takes her time before letting some people into her inner circle of trust? Right now, Lulu is probably snoozing on the sofa, happily dreaming of her forever home filled with lots of petting and creature, er, doggie, comforts.

7. Morgan
Young · Female · Collie (medium coat)

Exuberant, jubilant and happy — that’s Morgan! This 9-month-old collie is looking for his forever home. He is a true puppy at heart, full of energy and wanting to be wherever the action is, but he’s also great at entertaining himself. Morgan will gleefully empty the entire toy basket over and over again, keeping you on your toes.
Read more about Morgan
Morgan loves everyone and everything. He’s currently in a foster home with a pack of dogs, finding his place and learning acceptable behavior on a daily basis. His foster family is working on “sit” and “wait,” and he is motivated to learn as long as his person is nearby and treats are involved! Morgan absolutely loves the outdoors and will circle the entire yard at a sprinter’s pace. In fact, he especially loves a good game of chase, so he would likely do best in a home with a fenced-in yard and another dog buddy to play with.
When this fun-loving, playful guy needs rest, he will happily settle down for belly rubs and attention. Like all puppies, Morgan likes to chew and will need supervision until he outgrows this behavior. Luckily, he loves his crate and does great in it when he’s home alone.
This sweet pup is a true gem, and with continued training, Morgan will be a great addition to a loving home.

8. Daisy
Adult · Female · Collie (medium coat)

Sweet Daisy is a 6-year-old sable and white rough collie with a gentle heart. Her foster family describes her as shy and a bit nervous at first, but she warms up quickly to people with love and attention. In fact, she feels so safe and comfortable around her foster mom that she needs to be taught a bit about boundaries and personal space. She prefers to be RIGHT beside her human at all times, enjoying gentle pets and cuddles. A true couch potato, Daisy is currently somewhat overweight, so her foster family is helping her stay on track by encouraging daily walks and regular exercise as part of her routine. As an adult dog, she already knows most of her commands but is eager to please and motivated to learn more.
Read more about Daisy
Daisy would likely do best in a calm adult-only home where she can be the only pet. She is somewhat anxious and cautious around the other dogs in the house. Daisy is protective of her food and prefers to have her own space, especially at mealtimes. Outdoors, Daisy prefers to be alone rather than play with the other dogs. The presence of her foster family and their reassurance keeps her calm, and she already knows she can trust them and feels safe. With some tender loving care and a patient home, Daisy’s foster family believes she has all the makings of a devoted and affectionate companion.

His sweet demeanor extends to his canine friends and the furry cats he has met along the way.

11. Charlie's Angels
Puppy (3 months 27 days) · Female · Beagle / Mixed

Introducing Charle's Angel's Cameron! Cameron came to DASH with her 2 sisters Lucy and Drew when their owner needed to surrender an unexpected litter. Cameron is a beautiful girl, and those eyes! She is a typical puppy, exploring and learning the world right now. She is a little shy, but warms up pretty quickly once she meets you. She loves playing with her sisters and other dogs in her current foster home. Since she is still very much a puppy, she is still working on her crate training, potty training and walking on a leash. Her new family will need to continue to work with her on those things so she can grow up to be the best family member she can be! She has not been kid or cat tested, but feel she would be fine with proper introductions. This girl is fun loving and ready to bounce her way into her new family's hearts and home!

Introducing Benny! Benny came to DASH when his owner basically dumped him at the rescue. He is a very sweet, smart, loving young pup, who loves everyone he meets. He is great with the other dogs in his foster home. He is working on crate training and potty training and is doing really well in a very short time. His new family will need to continue to work with him on these things so he can grow up to be the best pup he can be. He does walk well on a leash already! This guy has not been around kids or cats, but feel due to his age, he would be ok with both with proper introductions. He would make a family a great companion!

13. Ozzy
Young (1 year 6 months) · Male · Chihuahua / Mixed

Welcome Ozzy! Ozzy came to DASH with his mom, Tilly, when their elderly owner could no longer care for them. He is a young guy, who loves his toys and playing with the other small dogs in his foster home. He is also ok with kids and cats. He loves using the doggie door to go outside to potty, but will also use pee pads. This boy can sometimes be a bit vocal, so an apartment may not be the best fit for him. He is crate trained and walks well on a leash. He is ready for a family or person who wants to take him on adventures and give him the best life!

I am Arlo! I came to DASH when my owner could no longer care for me. I am a young handsome boy, who loves everyone. I enjoy hanging out with the other doggies in my foster home and being wherever my foster mom is. I enjoy sleeping in bed with her as well and walks are one of my favorite things to do. I love giving affection and getting it in return. I am mostly potty trained, as long as I am kept on a schedule, but I also wear belly bands when I am going to be home alone for a while. I am working on being in a crate, I am not really a big fan yet, so my new family will have to keep helping me with that. I have not been around cats and I think I would love kids. 15. Hannah
Puppy · Female · Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat)

Hannah is 6 mths old
Gorgeous Hannah has the personality to match her looks! This playful girl can amuse herself with her toys for hours and also loves spending time outdoors. But when you settle in on the couch, she gladly settles down with you. She can be goofy and silly one minute, but Hannah can also be relaxed.
Hannah does enjoy her food and treats. However, if it’s something she values highly, she will resource guard. She doesn’t like pushy dogs and will let them know when they’re crossing the line with her. Hannah couldn’t care less about cats — she has no interest at all.
Read more about Hannah
She came to her foster not knowing any commands, so she’s in the process of learning. After all, she is still a puppy and that’s what they do! When Hannah sees someone new, she just has to say “hi.” She’s happy to socialize with dogs, as long as they respect her boundaries.
Happy Hannah is waiting for her person to come say “hi” and hang out with her. Might that be you?

16. Otto
Young · Male · Pointer / Mixed (short coat)

Hi there, I’m Otto! I’m an 11-month-old hound/pointer pup. I am currently 42 lbs. here is some more info about me:
-Great with other dogs!
-Skittish in new places and around new people. All siblings from this litter were more fearful of men but is not aggressive- just will probably be more comfortable with females initially. Once he gets to know you, he is very snuggly and sweet.
-He would do best in a home with another dog that is friendly around people and confident on leash to help him. Outdoor adventures with a dog friend would be good for him.

-Crate trained. Is crated next to Sallie at least 4 days a week for 8 hours per day. He will probably be fine loose eventually, but he still occasionally chomps on things like most adolescent dogs.
-Did well with his cat test. Disengaged from the cat easily and was more interested in finding cat food.
-Rides well in the car. Occasionally will bark when he sees something out the window.
-Housetrained (but you do have to pay attention to him)
-He is a good boy!

17. Prongs
Young · Male · German Shorthaired Pointer / Mixed (short coat)

Hi I’m Prongs! I’m at 7-8 month GSP mix and I’m looking for a home! I’m located in Cincinnati but I can be adopted in Columbus or here! I’m good with other dogs and got rescued with another dog named Padfoot! I have 2 brothers also with PAWS too! I like cats, they’re pretty interesting but I leave them alone once they’ve had enough of me. I’m a shy guy but I love people once I get to know them. I’d do better with older kids or calm younger ones as loud noises and sudden movements scare me. My favorite thing to do is lay in the grass out in the backyard so if you have a fenced in backyard, that would be awesome! But if you don’t that’s alright too! I’m learning to be in a home again as I’ve been a stray and haven’t been taught anything.

I’m working on some commands, potty training, and walking on a leash. I like to go to the door when I need to go potty to let my foster mom know I need to go out. I do sleep in the crate when my foster family leaves and goes to bed but I do like to express my concerns and opinions for a little bit before I settle down. I really prefer a bed. I’m the sweetest guy and I will love you forever! If you’re looking for a new pup to add to your family, please consider me!

18. Ziggy
Adult · Male · Unknown breed (short coat)

I’m Ziggy, a 7 year old heeler/terrier mix and would really like a dog buddy to play with! I weigh 75 pounds and don’t know my size, so when I get excited, I may be a bit sturdy for small dogs or young kids. I really like fetching tennis balls, playing tug-o-war and being around people. I know some commands like sit, shake, down, and would love to learn more. I’m easily bribe-able with treats! When I’m done playing, I like to be a couch potato and will snuggle next to you. I do all my business outside and never had an accident in the house. I don’t like the crate or being confined, but I am trustworthy enough to be left out while my humans aren’t home. I also like car rides and will hop right in. The dogtor did a checkup and said everything looks good so I’m ready to meet my furever family!

20. Pip
Puppy (8 months) · Male · Chihuahua

Welcome Pip to DASH! Pip came to DASH with his brother, Squeak from a rural shelter in Kentucky. This little guy is super sweet and loves all of the dogs in his current foster home. He is a little shy when he meets new people, but warms up very quickly. He is working on his crate training, walking on a leash and potty training, which he is doing really well with. He can be a little bit of a barker (typical chihuahua guard dog! ) so apartment living may not be the best fit for him. He is also small and will not get much bigger, so small kids under 8 would also not be the best for him. Older kids would be ok with proper introductions. He has been around cats, and doesn't seem to like them much. This little guy is ready to start his forever chapter with his new person or family.

25. Chica
Senior · Female · Smooth Collie (medium coat)

Chica is 8 yrs old
Chica is a beautiful smooth collie whose personality is the epitome of sweet and gentle. “Calm, quiet and sniffs” describe her interactions with just about everyone, and she will fit easily into a loving forever home. She gets along well with the resident dogs, happily wagging her tail to let them know she’s ready to engage. She’s also calm with cats and children. Although Chica enjoys other dogs, her favorite companions are her people. She’s wisely a little reserved with strangers, but once she gets to know you, she’s happy to cuddle and be petted.
Read more about Chica
Chica enjoys the outdoors, quickly taking care of “business” before exploring the yard or going after a toy when it’s thrown and she’s told to “get it.” Not all collies play with toys, and even fewer play fetch, but Chica loves it! She also understands “go potty” and “go to crate.” Chica is easygoing and quiet. Even at the age of 8, she’ll surprise you with a delightful burst of zoomies, perhaps just her way of showing us all how happy she is to be alive and spending time with her humans and her canine friends. As her foster has said, “She’s just an awesome dog!”

26. Marley P
11 Months · Male · Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed

Stop and say hello to Marley P! This super sweet doodle boy came to DASH when his owners health no longer allowed them to care for a puppy with his energy. He was found by the original owners tied to a pole on a country road when he was a very young puppy. They were determined that he not be abandoned again so into the rescue he came! He is still very much a puppy, loves to play fetch with his favorite balls and tries to get all the other doggies in his foster home to play as well. He is working on his crate training, he is not a fan and will whine and bark, so he is not crated regularly in his foster home.
Read more about Marley P
He walks well on a leash and is potty trained. He loves everyone he has met including the fosters grandkids who range in age from 6-9. He may not be great with really small kids just due to his enthusiasm and still learning what personal space is. He has also been around cats, and while he doesn't hurt them, he does think they want to play and so proper introductions would be best. He also loves to sleep in bed with his foster and needs to be touching his person. This boy is ready to find an active home who will take him on adventures and continue helping him be the best boy he can be and give him all the love and attention he so deserves.

27. Waylon Jennings FTA
Young (1 year 4 months) · Male · Plott Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed

Introducing Waylon Jennings! This young guy came to DASH from a rural shelter in Kentucky when he was on the short list for euthanasia for overcrowding. He's a big boy and very energetic, so he will need a very active person or family who is willing to make sure he gets the exercise he needs so that when it's time to relax that he'll be ready. He is very friendly with all of the people and dogs he has met so far, but his play style is a little rough so a bigger dog sibling would be the best fit for him (no little dogs). The same goes for kids, he would do best in a home with older kids who he can't knock down when he's wanting to play.
Read more about Waylon Jennings FTA
He is currently in our DASH Prison Program where he is learning basic commands and working on his crate training (will sometimes bark when left alone) and walking on a leash. He is housebroken in the prison setting. He is very affectionate and goofy and thinks he's a lap dog. This boy needs adventure and a forever family dedicated to helping him to continue to become the best companion he can be. (FTA: Waylon Jennings is a part of our Foster-to-Adopt program. Young (1 year) · Female · Beagle / Basset Hound / Mixed

Welcome Eunice to DASH! Eunice came to DASH from rural Kentucky with 8 other dogs when their owner was going to surrender them to a high-kill shelter. She was very shy and shut down when she first got to the rescue, but is now currently in the DASH Prison Program where she is blossoming into an adorable and loving girl. She is working on her basic commands and has mastered a few already. She is also working on her crate training, potty training and walking on a leash, as all of those things were foreign to her. She can be a little protective of her food and toys around other dogs, so her new family will need to continue to work with her.

She loves the boy dogs in the prison, but is a little picky about her girl friends, so proper introductions are a must for her. She has not been kid or cat tested, so again proper introductions would be needed for either. 29. Shy
4 Years 2 Months · Female · Chihuahua

Meet Shy! Shy is a tiny sweet little white Chihuahua with a big personality that continues to blossom more and more every day! Coming from a hoarding situation where she had very little positive human interaction, Shy has made incredible progress in learning what it means to simply be a happy, loved dog. Once an extremely frightened little girl, Shy has transformed into a playful, curious, and energetic companion. She has an almost puppy-like enthusiasm for life and loves chasing toys, playing with her foster dog siblings, and following her people around the house. She wants to be involved in everything and is constantly discovering new things she enjoys! One of Shy’s biggest accomplishments has been learning to enjoy affection.
Read more about Shy
She now happily accepts pets when you’re sitting down and she can approach you on her own terms. She loves coming over for treats and food and genuinely enjoys being near her people. However, she’s still figuring out how she feels about being approached, touched unexpectedly, or picked up. When someone approaches her, Shy will often scamper away, sometimes almost as though she’s turned it into a little game! While she can still be skittish, her reactions often seem to be a combination of playfulness, uncertainty, and simply not knowing what to expect. When she’s sleepy and relaxed, she’s much more accepting of being approached or picked up. She’s making progress, but physical affection and handling are still things she needs to explore at her own pace. Patience will be especially important for Shy’s future family. She will likely need a very long adjustment period in a new home, and her adopters must be willing to give her the time and space to build trust without expecting immediate affection. Even though she’s made wonderful progress in foster care, moving into an unfamiliar environment with new people will be a big change for her. Her future family should understand that building a bond with Shy will be a gradual process, and that’s perfectly okay! Shy can do well with either men or women and would especially benefit from a home with friendly small to medium-sized dogs but has been around large dogs. Having other dogs around has played a huge role in helping her gain confidence, learn routines, and discover how much fun life can be. Shy is still working on house training. She does have occasional accidents but makes an effort to use pee pads and does best with a consistent outdoor potty schedule. A securely fenced yard would be ideal, as she is not yet leash trained. Shy may not be the dog who immediately curls up in your lap or asks to be held, but she has so much love, happiness, and personality waiting to be discovered. She’s a silly, playful little girl who wants to connect with people but is still learning how. Her perfect family won’t measure her progress by how quickly she allows herself to be held or cuddled. Instead, they’ll celebrate the little moments: the first time she approaches for pets, the day she chooses to stay beside them, or the moment she realizes she can completely relax in their presence.

30. Baylon
Young (1 year 1 month) · Female · Beagle / Basset Hound (medium coat)

Say Hello to Baylen! Miss Baylen came to DASH with several other dogs where the home they were in were sending them to a high kill shelter in KY. This little girl is just the sweetest most loving dog you can imagine. All she wants is to be loved on and be the center of attention. She is young and due to the situation she came from, she is working on crate training, going potty outside and learning what a leash is. Her new family will need to continue working with her on these things. She is crated during the day while her foster mom is at work, as she will be nosey and get into things and tear up things in typical puppy fashion.

She gets an activity ball and mat while in her crate along with a chew bone to keep her happy. She loves the other dogs in her foster home and loves being out in the fenced in back yard doing zoomies from one end to the other and getting the other younger dogs in on the fun! This girl is also very intelligent and training her should be a breeze once she gets all of her excess energy out. She also loves to chill on a lap or the couch and just being with her person. She has not been kid or cat tested, but feel she would be fine with kids with proper introductions. She is ready to find her forever home where she can continue to blossom into a wonderful dog!

How to adopt from Powell Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
To adopt a PAWS dog: 1. BROWSE. View our adoptable dogs on PetFinder or on our website (powellpaws.org/adoptable-dogs) to find a dog that suits your family and lifestyle. 2. APPLY. Complete and submit your online application on our website powellpaws.org/adoption-application. Make sure that you are completing the Google captcha puzzle to confirm that you are not a robot in order to submit your online application. NOTE: You may need to scroll to the top of the webpage to find the puzzle! Your application will NOT submit unless all mandatory questions have been answered AND the Google captcha puzzle is successfully completed. 3. NOTIFY. Call your veterinarian and provide your permission for PAWS to discuss your pets’ medical history. If you rent your residence, PAWS verifies that your landlord permits the breed of dog in question. Notifying your landlord and/or veterinarian ahead of time can speed up the application review process! A PAWS volunteer reviews your application to ensure that all other dogs in the household are up-to-date on their vaccinations (DHPP, lepto, rabies, bordetella) and are spayed/neutered. Additionally, they verify that any cats in the home are current on their rabies vaccination. 4. MEET & GREET. Upon application approval, the dog’s foster parent contacts you to set up a meet and greet in a neutral location (like a pet store or park). 5. HOME VISIT. The foster parent, dog, and another PAWS volunteer meet you in your home for a home visit. Here,

How to adopt from Colony Cats (& dogs)
We have an application that requires the potential adopter to wait until their application can be verified. Once everything checks out the adopter comes and picks up their new fur member of the family and signs a contract. One of the highlights of our contract states that if for ANY reason at ANY time they cannot care for the animal, they must return the cat or dog back to Colony Cats (& dogs). Our adoption fees are $125 for kittens 6 months and younger; $75 for kittens over 6 months and adults up to 7 years; $50 for 7 years and older. If adopting 2 kittens/cats at the same time there is a $25 discount. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, Feline Leukemia and FIV tested (cats), heartworm tested (dogs), microchip, flea prevention, vaccinations (FVRCP for cats and DHLPP for dogs), rabies vaccine (if kittens or puppies are old enough to receive a rabies vaccine). If not, the new owner will need to go to their vet to get this done.
