Adult (5 years 4 months) · Male · Beagle (medium coat) · 71 mi from Toledo

Meet adorable Snoopy. Rescued from an overcrowded shelter where he was found as a stray. Snoopy is 5 years old and currently 33 pounds, although a bit chubby. He is dog friendly and has the great Beagle temperament. We are unsure about cats at this time although he spotted one on a walk and didn’t seem interested. 12. Lua

Adult · Female · Anatolian Shepherd (short coat) · 77 mi from Toledo

Who wants to adopt Lua who thinks taking naps are her job?Lua is a 3yo (estimated) Anatolian Shepherd @ 73 lbs who is spayed, UTD on vaccines, fully vetted, and completely housetrained. She has been an absolute joy to have in our family. She is very friendly, quiet (rarely barks), calm, and easy going. She does well in the crate and prefers it when left alone and sometimes when she just wants to chill in it. She loves naps and bedtime and sleeps like it’s her job! She likes chew toys and treats and giving love licks to anyone willing to accept. Lua LOVES toys and plays fetch with herself or anyone wanting to join in.

Read more about Lua

She knows “sit” and is working on other commands. She is doing well on the leash and loves to sniff her way around the neighborhood as we walk. She does much better in the car now that she’s more familiar with riding and on her last trip to the vet sat quietly looking out the window. We don’t have other pets, but she did well in playgroup at the shelter and recently at another foster’s home with medium and large dogs. She very much enjoyed playing and spending time with them. She enjoys wandering around the yard so a fenced yard is needed. Lua is an amazing dog who will make a wonderful, calm, loyal family member. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. 13. Finley

Young (2 years) · Male · Labrador Retriever (medium coat) · 50 mi from Toledo

Meet Finley-Finn, one of our newest residents at the Mikey & Me Kennels for Happy Days Rescue.

Finn is a 2 year old Black Lab mix and he’s slowly learning that the world can be a safe and exciting place. We are looking to place Finn into a loving Foster home while he continues to embrace his new life. Mikey & Me and Happy Days Rescue will cover all standard expenses while Finn is being fostered.

Read more about Finley

Finn arrived at Mikey & Me in late August and he was afraid to go outside. But he is beginning to overcome this fear with noticeable improvement every day. He came to us underweight but he is gradually gaining weight and feeling better. Thankfully, he tested negative for Heart Worm disease at his first Vet appt. in Dexter.

While he may be reserved with new people at first, Finn’s gentle nature shines through once he begins to feel comfortable. Even with his current level of fear, Finn has never growled, tried to nip, or reacted in any way to any of our 70+ volunteers. Finn does well with other dogs and seems to gain confidence when he has canine companions around. He would likely thrive in a home with another friendly, well-balanced dog who can help show him the ropes and boost his confidence.

Finn is very sweet at heart and just needs patience, kindness, and time to fully open up. In the right home, he has all the potential to grow into a loyal, loving companion who bonds deeply with his person.

If you’re unable to Foster, please consider sharing this post to help Finn find a safe, loving, and quiet home. When he’s ready, his foster family will have the first chance at adopting Finn into their home.

Courtesy Post for LuckyMeet Lucky, an male blue brindle boy estimated to be between 2 to 5 years old. Lucky has a sturdy, muscular build, a distinct brindle coat, striking amber eyes, and an expressive, handsome face.
Neighbors reported seeing a car driving around 10 mph out of the condo suburbs strike a dog matching his description, but thankfully, he doesn't seem to have sustained any serious injuries. He is currently eating, drinking, and moving around comfortably in our backyard setup. Lucky has a naturally calm demeanor, loves cuddles and kisses, and is a genuinely sweet companion. He knows how to sit, responds positively to car rides, and enjoys walks, though he does pull on the leash since he hasn't had much leash training.
He is friendly, non-aggressive, and submissive.

Read more about Lucky

While he doesn't mix well with our two very territorial female German Shepherds (Freda and Rika, who tend to be overly dominant with him), he has been observed to be good with children and other people.
Because we live in a small house where it's tough to keep him isolated, and my husband is dealing with a bulging disc and sciatica, we unfortunately cannot keep Lucky long-term. He is a wonderful dog looking for a responsible owner who can give him the permanent home and space he deserves.

Meet Roman, a big handsome boy with an even bigger heart! ❤️ Born in December 2022, Roman is a 115-pound Cane Corso who absolutely LOVES his people.
Roman is definitely an attached-at-the-hip kind of dog. If his people are around, he wants to be right there with them. He loves being included and is happiest when he can hang out with his favorite humans.
He knows his sit and shake, and he is an absolute rockstar in the car.
Roman can be a little shy when meeting new people and needs some time to warm up. Give him about 30 minutes, though, and you may find this giant boy trying to climb right into your lap! ❤️ Once he knows you, he is incredibly affectionate and loves being close.
He is still working on a few things, too.

Roman isn't a huge fan of the crate yet, but he's learning to accept it and making progress. He hasn't shown much interest in toys so far, and the hose is definitely on his “no thank you” list.
Roman is looking for someone who will give him the time and patience he needs to feel comfortable, while appreciating all the love and loyalty he has to give.
If you're looking for a big, goofy, affectionate shadow who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Roman might be your guy.

24. Jv Litter Zena

Adult (4 years) · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 50 mi from Toledo

Zena is a wonderful young lady. She loves to lay on our couch or bed and receive cuddles and scratches. She's friendly with everyone we've met so far, including other dogs, people, and kids. She does, however, have a strong prey drive and needs some work on leash training. But she does love going for a walk! She also loves our yard and would really benefit from a well-fenced yard and/or an active owner. I bet she'd be a good running companion. The two times she was off leash and out of our yard (unintentionally), she ranged around, sniffing for interesting prey items, but then returned, ecstatic to see us and our backyard.

She will make a great companion for an active owner and also a family that can provide lots of love and activity.

Adult (3 years 10 months) · Female · Husky / Pomeranian / Mixed · 70 mi from Toledo

FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT NEEDED FOR LUCY

This beautiful girl is 4 years old, about 30 lbs., and believed to be a Husky/Pomeranian mix. Before coming to CCRC, Lucy was used for breeding and had never even stepped outside.

Imagine experiencing the world for the very first time at four years old.

Lucy has been slowly learning that life can be safe, kind, and even fun. She has already made so much progress, but now she needs a foster home or even better, a foster-to-adopt home

Lucy will need a safe, quiet space in the home where she can decompress and acclimate.

She needs someone patient who understands that new things will take her a little longer.

Read more about Lucy

She has done amazing with the dogs she has met, so another friendly, confident dog could be a wonderful companion for her.

And you won’t be doing this alone. CCRC will set both you AND Lucy up for success. We provide the supplies, guidance, transportation and support you need along the way.

Lucy has spent enough of her life simply existing. Now we want her to learn what it means to be someone’s dog.

Can you be the person who helps Lucy take that next step?

Head on over to www.ccrcdogs.com if you are interested in Lucy. Even if you can’t foster, please SHARE this post for her.

Adult (3 years 4 months) · Female · Rottweiler / Labrador Retriever · 70 mi from Toledo

Meet Raven!

Raven is a
3-year-old, 70-pound Rottweiler
with a big personality and an even bigger love for life!

Her foster says Raven is
fun, playful, affectionate, and full of enthusiasm
. One of her favorite things is a good game of tug, and when it comes to walks, she does really well on a 6-foot leash. She hasn’t worked much on a formal “heel” yet, but she’s already a great walking companion.

Raven
LOVES kids!
Because she’s a big, exuberant girl who sometimes forgets just how big she is, we think she’d be happiest with
older kids
who can handle her enthusiasm.

And Raven definitely knows how to play hard and nap hard! She’ll burn through her energy, take a quick snooze, and then wake up ready for round two.

Raven is looking for a family who will appreciate her goofy, energetic personality and continue helping her become the best girl she can be. If you’re looking for a
big, happy Rottie with lots of personality

Why adopt an adult dog in Toledo

An adult dog's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are already house-trained.

Grown dogs need less supervision than puppies and often know the basics, like sitting and walking on a leash, which suits people who work or have young children.
