1. Heath
Puppy (6 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 36 mi from Fulshear

Meet Heath, a wonderfully sweet "badger boy" with a beautiful, slightly curly coat who is looking for his perfect forever family! As part of our "Sweet Treat" litter born right here in our rescue care, Heath has been raised with hands-on love from the very beginning, making him remarkably calm, smart, and responsive to human affection. He is a gentle soul who is perhaps a bit more thoughtful and reserved than his energetic littermates, making him an absolute dream for someone who loves a balanced pup. Heath truly adores his cuddle time and loves a good play session, but he is equally happy to slow down, relax, and contentedly chew on a nice stick. If you are looking for a loving, steady companion with fantastic genetics and a sweet disposition, Heath is ready to bring a lifetime of devotion to your home.

11. Samu
Adult (5 years 4 months) · Male · Boxer · 5 mi from Fulshear

Hi! I'm Samu, I’m a complete gentleman with soulful eyes and a heart way bigger than my wrinkly forehead. I'm looking for my forever family, and I promise I'm worth it.
My résumé:
• Potty trained (nailed it)
• Crate trained (I’m sometimes reluctant, someone has to protect the human beds)
• Great eater. I'll finish my bowl, then politely ask what's on your plate
• Toy enthusiast. Squeaky, fluffy, ropey, I love them all
• Expert snuggler, especially on beds. Yes, I know which pillow is yours.

My social life: My foster brother Jax and I are tug-of-war besties, and we could play all day. I'd probably be happiest in a home with another playful pup to wrestle with. I also met some neighbor kids and was a total gentleman!
Still working on: Leash walking. The world is just SO exciting, and I'm learning that we don't have to sniff all of it at once. A patient human and some practice will help me get there.
If you want a goofy, loving sidekick who will make you laugh, follow you everywhere, and keep your couch warm, I'm your guy.

12. Jaxon
Adult (5 years 5 months) · Male · Boxer · 5 mi from Fulshear

Hi there friend, my name is Jaxon! Are you ready to have a paw-sitively amazing life? Because I am fur-real looking for a couch to call my own!
Honestly, I'm not sure who I love more: other people, or other doggies, but I love meeting new friends, whether they are two-legged or four-legged. I really just cannot wait to meet YOU!
I really love going to the park and getting to play and run with the other pups, but I'm also just as happy to lounge around on the couch with you. I really just want my family around so we can all love each other. I'm still learning what kind of toys I like, but I will be sure to get back on here and update you.

I am really a lover-boy at heart. I am a world champion at wiggling my whole body with excitement. I'll show you the best of my wiggling abilities every single time you walk through the door and say hello to me again! I also show off my wiggling to new friends; did I mention I love meeting new people?
I would really love to be in a home with another dog. I really feel safe and comforted in the presence of a good friend, and possibly future sibling! I also love kids too, so if you have little ones in the family, I am very patient and promise I would be a fantastic brother to them. I have not spent too much time around kitty cats, but I don't have much of a prey drive. I'll let you know soon if I think I'd get along with your kitties.
I am fully house-trained and crate-trained - my crate is my safe and cozy space and I love to go in there to relax. I do need some guidance when walking on a leash, but I don't pull whatsoever!!
Thanks for reading about me so far, and I promise I will be back on here soon with more info for you! I hope I get to meet you and have a chance to show you some of my world class wiggles. If you have any questions so far, please reach out and ask to get in touch with my paw-sitively amazing foster, Riley.
Fur-real though, you're paw-some for taking the time to learn about me! I'm staying paw-sitive and hoping we can be friends fur-ever! HAVE A BOXER-RIFIC DAY!
MORE DETAILS COMING SOON! UNTIL THEN PLEASE CHECK OUT MY FRIENDS

13. Sailor
Adult (5 years 11 months) · Male · Yellow Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 29 mi from Fulshear

Meet Sailor!
Sailor is an approximately 6-year-old Lab mix with a big personality, a love of adventure, and an even bigger love for his people. He’s looking for a home where he can be someone’s loyal companion, adventure buddy, and couch potato—all rolled into one.
Sailor absolutely lights up when he realizes he’s going for a walk, a car ride, or an outdoor adventure. He gets adorably excited at first, then settles right down once he’s on leash or in the car. He would be an amazing match for someone who enjoys hiking, exploring, or spending time near the water.
Read more about Sailor
And water is definitely Sailor’s happy place. He LOVES swimming, playing fetch in a pool or lake, and enthusiastically “attacking” the spray from a garden hose. He does great on a pontoon boat and would probably take well to paddleboarding or canoeing with a little training. On trails, he has excellent recall off leash and loves getting out to explore.
For all his adventurous energy, Sailor is just as happy relaxing at home. He loves being near his people and curling up on the couch. He is crate trained and willingly goes into his kennel—often choosing to rest there on his own. He also rides calmly in the car, including on long trips.
Sailor has had three weeks of professional sleep-away training and knows a great list of commands, including heel, sit, stay, down, place, kennel, here, “leave me alone,” and more. He walks nicely on leash and is very food motivated. His all-time favorite treat is hard-boiled egg yolk; he can hear the little “tap tap” of an egg on the counter from practically anywhere in the house and will come running! He also has excellent house manners and does not chew things that aren’t his toys.
Sailor would thrive best as the only pet in the home. Cats are far too intriguing and, in his opinion, clearly meant to be chased. He has done well with some smaller dogs, particularly more submissive females. On walks, he is generally easy to redirect around other reactive dogs, although he may respond if another dog surprises or challenges him through a fence.
Most of all, Sailor loves being part of his family. He wants to be included, whether that means heading out for an adventure or hanging out together at home. He would do best in an adults-only household or a home with older teenagers.
Sailor’s current family loves him deeply and is heartbroken to be looking for a new home for him. Before they adopted him, Sailor had spent about two years living in a kennel. Sailor is comfortable with affection from adults—even big hugs—but he is uneasy about being touched by young children, likely because of something in his life before he joined the family.
Because their children understandably want to love on him, his family has made the difficult decision that Sailor deserves a home where everyone can feel comfortable and where he can truly thrive.
Sailor has already been through a lot, and he has so much love, fun, companionship, and adventure left to give. In the right home—one without young children and preferably without other pets—he is going to make someone an incredibly devoted best friend.
Please share and help us find Sailor the home he deserves.

If you’ve ever wanted a Great Pyrenees, this sweet girl is a wonderful representation of why so many people love the breed. She has a lot of love to give and is ready to find the family she can call her own.

PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS WHO ARE AT LEAST 50 POUNDS.
Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary.
Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home.
Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.
Adoption fee: $450 (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo vaccines, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters pay the cost of transport services outside of Texas area. Transport costs depend on location and company used. Northeast transport fee is $200. The Northwest and Midwest transport fees range from $225-$350. The Southeast transport fees range from $250-$350.
GPRS has proudly placed thousands of Great Pyrenees and GP mixes in the PNW for over a decade. Our volunteers have over 100 years combined experience fostering, screening, and placing this majestic breed into loving, forever homes. When adopting from us, you can rest assured that we provide life-long support and advice when it comes to your new family member. As always, our purpose is to find the best match for every unique dog that comes through our doors. Taking the time to find the right fit comes first and foremost at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society. If you are interested in adopting, please take the time, and apply. You will see firsthand how much care, attention and love goes into the process, when you are guided a personal screener. This is why we have people come back again and again for their next family member! MEET "THELMA" OKLAHOMA, MCALLESTER; ADOPT OR FOSTER TO ADOPT
DOB: 6/1/2025
BREED: CENTRAL ASIAN SHEPHERD
NOTES : ABOUT THELMA
Thelma is currently around 125 pounds and may mature somewhere around 140 pounds. Despite her impressive size and presence, she is an incredibly loving, gentle girl who enjoys being with her people.
In her foster home, she has experienced life around poultry, waterfowl, goats, sheep and pigs from the other side of a fence.
Thelma loves having room, being outside, checking out what's happening around the property and then coming inside to enjoy the comforts of home.
Read more about Thelma
She is good with other dogs and would love a home where she can bond with her people, have a job of her own choosing, even if that job is simply keeping tabs on her property.
As with any dog, introductions to animals, routines and the property need to happen slowly and intentionally. New home. New animals. New relationships.

20. Bella
Adult (5 years 3 months) · Female · Shepherd / Carolina Dog / Mixed (medium coat) · 29 mi from Fulshear

Bella does not need everyone to love her. She needs one person willing to give her enough time to believe them.
Bella was adopted as a puppy, but somehow, at about 5 years old, she has already ended up at the pound twice. Whatever happened in between clearly left a mark. She is not the kind of dog who runs into a stranger’s arms five minutes after meeting them. She watches. She worries. She needs time to decide that you are safe.
And really, who could blame her?
When Bella was surrendered the last time, she spent her days watching every door and every person who passed, searching for the people she knew. They did not come back.
Read more about Bella
Now she is safe with Scout’s Honor, but she is living in boarding while we look for the right foster or forever home. She is about 5 years old and 55 pounds, a beautiful Shepherd mix with those wonderfully expressive ears and the intelligence and loyalty that come with them.
Bella is gentle, sensitive, and cautious. New people and unfamiliar situations can scare her at first, so she needs someone who understands that trust is not something you demand from a dog like Bella. You earn it. Quietly. Consistently. Without rushing her.
And then you get to see the real Bella.
Once she realizes she is safe, the fear begins to soften and her sweet, loving personality comes through. That is the reward with dogs like her: you know the affection is real because she chose to give it to you.
Bella is not looking for a chaotic household or someone expecting instant perfection. A calmer home without very young children would likely suit her best, and she needs a person who can give her structure, patience, and the time to settle in at her own pace.
The good news is that Bella does not need some extraordinary dog expert to save her. She needs someone dependable. Someone who will not take her hesitation personally. Someone who understands that a scared dog is not a broken dog.
She has already been uprooted enough.
What could change Bella’s life now is actually very simple: one home where she is allowed to exhale, one person who keeps showing up, and enough time for her to learn that this time, nobody is leaving.
If you are the kind of person who believes the dogs who take a little longer are worth the wait, Bella may be waiting for you.

21. Selma
Adult · Female · Hound / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat) · 29 mi from Fulshear

Meet Selma—the big, goofy girl who just wants to be close to you.
Formerly known as Indara at Harris County Pets, Selma is beginning a new chapter with Scout’s Honor. She shared a kennel with our sweet Patty and showed us what a kind, loving girl she is.
The shelter estimates Selma is around 6 years old, though we think she may be a little younger. Whatever her age, she has plenty of love to give—and she’d make a wonderful couch buddy. Selma may be a big girl, but her favorite place is right beside her person.
Read more about Selma
She can be a little unsure at first and may need a moment to take in a new situation. With patient guidance and a little reassurance, her loving, goofy personality shines through. Selma is dog-friendly and could enjoy a canine companion; she likes a little time to figure out a new dog’s play style before she settles in.
Selma deserves a home where she can feel safe, loved, and close to her people. Could you be the one to give this sweet girl her fresh start? Please consider fostering or adopting her.
Visit scoutshonor.org to apply. Scout’s Honor covers all expenses associated with fostering.

24. Lisa
Young (2 years 2 months) · Female · English Setter / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (long coat) · 29 mi from Fulshear

Hello beautiful -- Introducing Lisa!
Lisa is one of the sweet girls from our shelter pull this weekend. She was surrendered by her owner to Harris County, though we don’t know the reason why. We do know one thing though…this mama has clearly had puppies recently, but sadly they were not turned in with her.
Read more about Lisa
Even though Lisa has only been with us a short time, she has already shown us just how gentle, calm, and loving she is. She’s the kind of dog who just melts into you. Lisa gets along well with other dogs and so far seems more like a laid back girl than a rough-and-tumble player, but as she settles in and gets more comfortable, we are already seeing her personality bloom. Watching her start wagging her tail and open up has been so special
We would absolutely love to get Lisa into a foster home soon so she can finally relax and know what it feels like to be truly loved. If this sweet mama sounds like your kind of girl, please head to www.scoutshonor.org and fill out a foster application today!

25. Lucius fka Shuppo
Adult (4 years) · Male · Mastiff / Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 29 mi from Fulshear

Lucius: Those Eyes Tell a Story. That Tail Tells You Who He Is.
Lucius is only about 3–4 years old, but he has already been through more than any dog should. When we first met him at Harris County Animal Control, he was painfully thin, missing patches of fur, and carrying a deep scar around his neck from a heavy chain. After his owner passed away, Lucius was reportedly beaten by officers responding to the home.
He cowered in the corner of his kennel. But when we came close, he wagged his tail.
That’s Lucius. Even after everything, he kept looking for someone to love.
Read more about Lucius fka Shuppo
With patience and care, he began to come back to life. The frightened dog we first met became a joyful, affectionate boy who loves to play. Then, after slipping away during a veterinary trip, Lucius spent 29 days missing. We never stopped searching, and we were overjoyed when we found him and brought him home.
Now Lucius is ready to make up for lost time. He’s full of life and energy, loves to play ball, and enjoys playing with other dogs. Those eyes may break your heart, but his happy, bouncing spirit will win it right back.
Lucius is looking for a foster who can welcome his playful energy and give him the love he has always deserved. Scout’s Honor Rescue can cover all fostering expenses as needed.
Could you be part of Lucius’s next chapter? Visit scoutshonor.org or apply to foster Lucius.

Hey there! I’m Angel Marie, and I wanted to share a bit about myself now that I’ve settled into my foster home. Looking for a quirky girl? Winning! I love fast walks sprinkled with sniff stops and when we get home I enjoy celebratory play bows and spins because it just felt so good to get out in the fresh air and stretch my fluffy legs. During the day I can often be found napping on my back with all four legs in the air because I'm a gal who knows the art of relaxation. Car rides are a piece of cake and if you’re going somewhere – errands, to the park, coffee drive thru, whatever – then I want to go with you. Nail clippings are a cinch and I enjoy being brushed except am a little particular about my tail. Who isn’t? When new humans come over, I greet them with a gently wagging tail, walk right up to my new friend and wait for pets, but am not pushy. After a good meal, I like to give myself a hearty chin rub on my bed (or maybe yours?!? Ha!) and then flip over on my back and wiggle around in contentment. I love to sleep on the bed at night with my person and don’t hog the bed (much). Don’t be fooled by my age. Although technically a senior, I have a perfect balance of hanging out and GO energy. Want to play? Me, too! Want to hang out and watch TV or take a nap? Me, too! My foster mom thinks I’m like Mary Poppins – practically perfect in every way.

Young (2 years 3 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 36 mi from Fulshear

Lucas is a sweet young adult Pyr who can be a little timid at first, but once he warms up, is incredibly loving and thrives on praise. This charming boy frequently throws the famous "Pyr Paw" to ask for extra pets and affection. He loves playing with other dogs, chewing on bones, and splitting his relaxation time between the couch and his outdoor dog bed. Lucas adapts quickly to household routines, uses the dog door with ease, and will alert you to strangers without barking excessively. He tolerates grooming well, and his low-maintenance coat is easy to keep looking its best, making him a wonderful companion for a lucky person or family.

Adopting a large dog in Fulshear
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
