2. Leonidas
Puppy · Male · Great Dane · 15 mi from Tyler

Meet Leonidas (Leo)!Location: Cabot, ARDOB: 06/29/2026Meet Leonidas, affectionately known as Leo! This sweet Great Dane puppy is a gentle soul with a heart as big as his paws. Even in his playful puppy stage, Leo is remarkably calm, affectionate, and happiest when he's close to the people and dogs he loves. While most puppies are constantly on the move, Leo prefers a more relaxed lifestyle. His zoomies are short-lived, his naps are plentiful, and his favorite place is snuggled up beside someone he loves. Whether he's snoozing on the couch, soaking up the sunshine, or cuddling with his foster brother, Leo is happiest surrounded by family.Personality & TemperamentLeo is the definition of a Velcro dog.
Read more about Leonidas
He has a moderate energy level, enjoying gentle playtime and occasional bursts of puppy excitement before settling down for a well-deserved nap.Although he can be timid in unfamiliar situations, Leo warms up quickly to people who approach him calmly. He's incredibly affectionate, eager to please, and responds beautifully to patience and positive reinforcement. His sensitive nature means harsh corrections or raised voices can be especially upsetting, so a gentle, encouraging approach is essential.Training & Home LifeAs a young puppy, Leo is still learning and will need a family committed to continuing his training.House-training is a work in progress. Leo is uncomfortable going into the backyard alone and needs a trusted human beside him to feel safe enough to potty. He's making steady progress, with accidents becoming less frequent.Leo is also working through some separation anxiety. He willingly enters his crate and has gradually become comfortable spending up to an hour alone during the day. At night, he sleeps in his crate beside his foster brother, which helps him feel secure.Leash training is another work in progress, as Leo currently finds the leash intimidating. Thankfully, he does well in the car and may eventually become a wonderful adventure companion!Leo is highly food-motivated, making positive reinforcement training especially effective. Like most puppies, he enjoys chewing but is easily redirected to appropriate toys. He's also remarkably gentle with his mouth and rarely engages in typical puppy biting.Other Dogs, Cats & ChildrenLeo shares his foster home with an 11-month-old male Labradane, and the two have developed a wonderful friendship. Although initially nervous, Leo gained confidence through his foster brother's patient companionship. They now enjoy playing and napping together. He would likely thrive with another calm, respectful large dog who can help him continue building confidence. Smaller dogs may find his playful paws and enthusiasm overwhelming, as he doesn't always recognize his size.Leo has also done well with his foster family's elderly cat, even enjoying cuddles together. However, he may chase cats that run, so any feline companions should be calm and dog-savvy, with supervised introductions.Leo has met children aged 10 and older and has done well. Younger children may initially intimidate him, so a home with older, respectful children would likely be the best fit.Medical InformationLeo has been experiencing allergies, although the exact cause remains unknown. Possible triggers include previous flea exposure, chicken, or environmental allergens. His foster family is transitioning him to a salmon and sweet potato diet, and an allergy injection provided noticeable relief within 24 hours. His future family should be prepared to continue monitoring his allergies and working with their veterinarian as needed.Leo's Ideal HomeLeo would thrive in a calm, loving home with patient humans and preferably another gentle, well-socialized large dog to help show him the ropes. He needs a family who understands that he's still a puppy and will require continued house-training, leash training, and confidence-building. Because he struggles with being alone, a home where someone is around frequently would be ideal. As his c

Meet Venus – A Playful, Affectionate Girl with So Much Love to Give!Location: Houston, TXLooking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling and happily curl up beside you after a day of adventures? Meet Venus, formerly known as Sheeva!Venus is a beautiful, energetic girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She's playful, affectionate, and absolutely loves being around her people. Whether she's wrestling with a canine friend, exploring the yard, or snuggling on the couch, Venus brings enthusiasm and love to everything she does.Personality & Favorite ThingsVenus is a confident, outgoing girl once she feels comfortable in her surroundings.
Read more about Venus
She loves attention, gives plenty of kisses, and is always happy to join her favorite humans for some quality cuddle time. She's especially fond of playtime and enjoys a good wrestling match with other dogs. Venus is often the one to get the fun started! Although she has an energetic personality, she also knows how to settle down and relax when playtime is over. One of her foster family's favorite things about Venus is her affectionate side. After burning off some energy, she's more than happy to climb onto the couch and snuggle up beside you.Venus is a wonderful combination of playful enthusiasm and sweet companionship.Training & Home LifeVenus is still working on some of her household manners, but she's responsive to redirection and has made good progress in foster care.House Training: Venus is doing well with house training. Her only reported accidents were associated with digestive upset, and she had no accidents once her stomach issues resolved.Leash Training: She walks reasonably well until an interesting smell or distraction catches her attention. She can pull strongly and will benefit from continued leash training.Car Rides: Venus sometimes needs encouragement to get into the vehicle, but once inside, she travels well.Crate Training: She has not been individually crate trained. In foster care, she stayed in a laundry room with Athena, where she occasionally cried briefly before settling.Energy Level: Moderate to high. Venus enjoys active play but can settle down appropriately afterward.Household Manners: She may jump when excited and will benefit from continued training to help manage her enthusiasm.Food Manners: Venus is food motivated but has not shown food aggression. She may occasionally investigate countertops if something tempting is left within reach.Venus is an intelligent girl who responds well to consistent boundaries, patience, and positive reinforcement.Other Dogs, Cats & ChildrenVenus enjoys canine companionship and has lived with several other dogs, including medium and large breeds. She loves to play and has a confident, enthusiastic personality.Since spending time apart from Athena, Venus has continued to do well with other dogs on her own. This has been wonderful to see and suggests that having her own space and opportunities to build independence has been beneficial for her.Although Venus and Athena share a close bond, their foster family has observed that the girls sometimes amplify each other's excitement and barking. Separate homes may allow each of them to flourish individually.Venus could be a wonderful companion for another compatible dog, particularly one who enjoys an active play style. As with any adoption involving resident pets, thoughtful introductions will help ensure a successful match.Venus has also been around dog-savvy barn cats. She generally sniffed them and walked away when they remained still, but she would chase them if they ran. A home with cats would require careful introductions, supervision, and safe escape spaces for the cats.Venus has not been evaluated around children. Because of her size, strength, and tendency to jump when excited, a home with older, dog-savvy children or adults would be the best fit. Toddlers and very young children are not recommended.Meeting New PeopleVenus is incredibly affectionate

Hershey lives with a 2-year-old toddler and has done well with her, and he previously lived with three older kids, too. 6. Mr. Bane
Adult · Male · Cane Corso Mastiff / Great Dane / Mixed · 15 mi from Tyler

Meet Bane — Your Future Best Friend, Snuggle Buddy, and Adventure Partner! Location: Kemp, TXDOB: 8/13/2022Bane is a big, lovable boy with a heart overflowing with love and a personality that will keep you smiling! With his soulful eyes, goofy zoomies, impressive fetch skills, and absolute devotion to his people, Bane is the kind of dog who doesn't just want to be part of the family—he wants to be part of everything. Whether he's chasing a ball in the backyard, splashing in the water, enjoying a tasty chew, or snuggling on the couch, Bane is happiest when he's with his favorite humans.Bane has clearly been through a difficult past, but despite everything, he has so much love to give.
Read more about Mr. Bane
When he rests his head on someone and gazes up with those sweet, soulful eyes, his gentle, affectionate nature shines through. He is a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and close to his people. Play Hard, Snuggle Harder!Bane is a playful, energetic boy who loves a good game! Fetch is one of his specialties, and he's surprisingly talented at catching tossed balls and treats right out of the air. He also enjoys tug-of-war, durable chews, bones, snuffle mats, enrichment toys, and wrestling with his canine foster siblings. Water and mud? Absolutely! Random zoomies and chasing his own tail just for fun? You bet!Although Bane can be a bundle of energy outdoors, he generally settles nicely inside, especially when he has a chew or enrichment activity to enjoy. And when it's time to relax, this boy takes snuggling very seriously. Bane firmly believes that personal space is optional and may attempt to become a full-body weighted blanket while cuddling on the couch. If a cozy evening with a movie and a giant, affectionate cuddle buddy sounds perfect, Bane might be your guy!Bane is also VERY food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He enjoys treat-based games and is learning to make good choices through positive reinforcement. He currently knows “sit,” “leave it,” “out,” and “no,” and he has been working on “down.” He is housebroken, travels well in the car, and has plenty of potential to continue learning. A Social Boy Who Loves His CompanionsBane currently lives with several dogs and has done well with his foster pack. He enjoys having canine friends to play with and would likely thrive with a compatible medium-to-large dog who appreciates an enthusiastic playmate. Introductions should be gradual, as Bane may need time to feel comfortable with a new dog.Although he plays hard, Bane often displays submissive, appeasing behaviors with his canine companions. He does, however, need some guidance around toys and high-value chews. He has been observed hovering closely around other dogs who have toys, so shared toys and chews should be carefully supervised, and separate spaces may be needed to keep everyone comfortable.Bane has a prey drive and closely tracks the resident cat in his foster home. He requires frequent redirection around cats, so a cat-free home would likely be the best fit.He has also done well with visitors and has not shown concerning people-directed aggression in his foster home. He is a loving, affectionate boy who enjoys being near his humans. Bane's Biggest Challenge: Separation AnxietyBane's greatest struggle is anxiety when separated from his people. He becomes extremely distressed when left alone or confined to a kennel for extended periods. His anxiety can lead to prolonged barking, whining, scratching, and jumping at doors or walls when he panics. He is working on crate training and can generally settle in his kennel at bedtime and for a morning nap after breakfast, but confinement at other times remains difficult.Bane currently takes prescribed medication for anxiety and will need a family committed to working with his veterinary team to manage his needs. His progress will require patience, consistency, and a compassionate understanding that his distress is real—not a behavior he can simply

7. Dante
Adult · Male · Great Dane · 15 mi from Tyler

Meet Dante! Location: Georgetown, KYDOB: 9/3/24If you're looking for a big, goofy, affectionate boy who believes personal space is completely overrated, Dante might just be your guy!Dante is a sweet, people-loving Great Dane with an average energy level, a playful personality, and a serious talent for snuggling. He wants to be wherever his people are, preferably touching them at all times. Couch time? He's in. Relaxing after a long day? He's there. Sitting down for literally any reason? Congratulations, you now have a lap dog who happens to be Great Dane-sized!One of the best things about Dante is seeing the dog he becomes when he's settled, calm, and listening.
Read more about Dante
He has made tremendous progress learning how to live in a home, and it's amazing to see how far he's come. He's also proof that first impressions don't tell the whole story. This boy arrived with virtually no leash skills, and now he walks better on a leash than many dogs who've been doing it their whole lives! Dante's hidden talents?Leash superstar: He walks beautifully without pulling and responds wonderfully to leash pressure.Excellent road-trip buddy: He settles nicely in the car and makes traveling easy.Polite public companion: He's done wonderfully at the veterinary office, staying calmly beside his person without making a fuss over other dogs.Professional snuggler: He's happiest close to his people and loves affection, attention, and being included.Part-time comedian: Dante loves his toys, especially squeaky ones. He'll toss them into the air, pounce on them dramatically, and entertain himself with his own antics. Just watch out when the big stuffed toys start flying!Dante has average energy and doesn't need constant activity to be happy. He enjoys little bursts of play throughout the day but is also content to settle down and relax with his people. He's still learning, and that's okay!Dante spent much of his life outdoors before being abandoned, and he appears to still be learning that he doesn't have to be on high alert all the time. At times, he can become overstimulated, making it harder for him to listen and respond to direction. As he continues to settle in and learn that he's safe, consistency, patience, and clear expectations will be important. He's housebroken, does well on a leash, and is great in the car. He's also working on becoming more comfortable with his crate and continuing to develop good household manners. He has already shown that he's a capable learner and will benefit from an adopter who is willing to keep building on that progress.Let's talk about other animals.Dante's biggest challenge is understanding boundaries, particularly with other dogs. He is a confident boy who can get pushy when he wants to interact, sometimes crowding other dogs, standing over them, or attempting to hump them even when they'd rather have some space. He doesn't always recognize when another dog has had enough, so he needs people who will step in, redirect him, and help him disengage. He has done well with a smaller, older female dog who communicates her boundaries clearly. He can also play and relax appropriately with a more submissive male dog when he's calm and respectful. However, he has had serious conflicts with a more dominant male dog, resulting in injuries. For that reason, he would not be a good match for every canine household.Dante would likely thrive as an only dog, where he can enjoy all the human attention he could ever want. He may also do well with a carefully selected canine companion who is calm, tolerant, and not interested in challenging him. Slow introductions, thoughtful management, and continued work on boundaries are essential. A home with multiple dogs may be more challenging for him.Dante has not met cats, and his foster family does not think a home with cats would be a good fit. What about kids and new people?Dante has met toddlers, elementary-aged children, middle schoolers, adults, and strangers, and he has done well with them. He's a fr

Meet Ben ❤️ — A Gentle Soul Looking for His Forever HomeLocation: Harlingen, TXDOB: 9/4/22Ben is a sweet, timid boy with a heart full of love and so much appreciation for the safety and comfort of a home. He may be a big dog, but deep down, he’s still a scared little puppy learning that the world can be a kind and loving place. All Ben really wants is to feel safe, be loved, and know that he finally has a family who will never give up on him.Ben may need a little time to warm up to new surroundings and people, but once he starts to trust you, his sweet personality shines through. He absolutely loves being petted, and if you dare to stop before he’s ready, he’ll gently paw at you to remind you that he’s not done! He loves being near his people, whether that means snuggling on the couch, lounging nearby, or simply enjoying the comfort of knowing someone is there.Ben is a laid-back, low-maintenance kind of guy.
Read more about Ben
His idea of a perfect day involves eating good food, receiving plenty of affection, and spending lots of time lounging and sleeping. He’s not looking for a running partner or an adventurous lifestyle. A backyard for potty breaks and a cozy spot inside the house are more than enough to make him happy. He is housebroken and does wonderfully in the home without getting into things or chewing. When his foster family leaves, he does well relaxing in a bedroom with the door closed.Food is another one of Ben’s favorite things! When he wakes up, he’s ready for breakfast and will happily follow you around and paw at you to make sure you understand the assignment. He also has very good recall for a foster dog and comes when called, which makes him a joy to have around.Ben currently lives with three large dogs and gets along very well with them. While he isn’t particularly playful, he enjoys being part of the pack and would likely do well in a home with another friendly dog. He also lives with five children, ranging in age from 5 to 15, and does wonderfully with them. He loves lying beside the kids on the couch while they pet him. He has not been introduced to cats, so his compatibility with them is unknown.Ben can be shy around new people and needs a little time to feel comfortable, but he does warm up with patience. He is sensitive to raised voices and may cower when people yell, even during playful moments, so a calm, gentle home will help him feel secure. He is still working on his leash skills and becoming more comfortable riding in the car, but with kindness and encouragement, he continues to learn.Ben is also heartworm-positive and has tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis. He will need a family committed to working with their veterinarian to ensure he receives the appropriate care and treatment. What Ben needs most is not a perfect home, but a patient one.He needs people who understand that trust takes time, who will let him settle in at his own pace, and who will reassure him that he is safe. He needs a family who will welcome him inside, give him the affection he craves, and understand why being left behind may be frightening to him.Imagine being a dog who has finally found a place where you can rest without fear, where gentle hands offer pets instead of harm, and where you no longer have to wonder if tomorrow you’ll still have a home. That seems to be what Ben is discovering now, and it is a beautiful thing to watch.Ben isn't asking for much. A soft place to sleep, a full belly, a few gentle pets, and someone who will love him for the rest of his life.Could you be the person who shows Ben that he is finally home? ❤️===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! He's affectionate, tolerant, and always eager to make new friends. He enjoys meeting visitors, going on outings, and exploring new places. One of his favorite activities is accompanying his foster family on trips to the store, where he gets to wander the aisles and investigate all the interesting smells. He's also a fantastic travel companion who loves car rides, especially when there's a pup cup involved!Goose is happiest when he's spending time with his people. He's a true Velcro Dane who wants to know where you are at all times. When his foster works from home, Goose often chooses to sleep underneath the desk rather than on one of the perfectly comfortable dog beds nearby. He'll even check on you in the bathroom or watch through the windows when you're outside, just to make sure everything is okay. His favorite ways to show affection include enthusiastic kisses, leaning against your legs, and celebrating your return—even if you've only been upstairs for a few minutes! An Adventure Buddy Through and ThroughGoose is an active young dog who needs regular exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy. He absolutely loves running, chasing balls, playing with canine friends, hiking, exploring, and spending time outdoors. He's fully house-trained, crate-trained, and travels beautifully in the car. He's continuing to work on his leash manners and impulse control. Goose can become excited when he thinks he's going for a walk or car ride, sometimes jumping or trying to rush through the front door. His foster family has already seen improvements with consistent training and routines. He does best walking with a chest harness, as he has figured out how to back out of a regular collar.Goose is also quite the athlete! He can jump over baby gates or knock them down, so a secure environment is important. A sturdy, appropriately high fence would be ideal, although a fenced yard isn't required if his family can provide other safe opportunities for exercise.Like many young dogs, Goose may be anxious or restless during transitions. His foster family noticed that he needed approximately a week to begin settling into his new environment. Once comfortable, he became much calmer and more relaxed throughout the day. With patience, consistency, and continued positive reinforcement, Goose will only continue to blossom.Other Dogs, Cats & ChildrenGoose is a friendly, social dog who enjoys canine companionship. Meet PhoebeLocation: Brenham, TXDOB: 5/29/2023Phoebe's story hasn't been an easy one, but you would never know it by the love she has to give. She was found severely malnourished—just skin and bones—and covered in ticks and fleas. The severe infestation caused parasites, muscle weakness, and neurological issues. Since being rescued, she has been treated for her parasites, completed heartworm treatment, and is slowly gaining weight and strength every day.Despite everything she's been through, Phoebe has the sweetest, gentlest personality. She simply wants to make her people happy and never be a bother.

She is incredibly affectionate, eager to please, and has a heart full of love.PersonalityPhoebe is the definition of a couch potato... even though she hasn't officially discovered the couch yet! She loves nothing more than curling up on a soft bed for a long nap and would likely make an excellent cuddle buddy. She sleeps peacefully through the night and happily spends much of the day snoozing on one of her dog beds. She has exceptional house manners and is completely trustworthy with free roam of the home. She doesn't chew, get into things, or wander far from her favorite resting spot. When she isn't napping, she's usually ready for a meal or a trip outside. One of Phoebe's sweetest habits is her happy little dance. When she's excited to go outside, she prances in place on her bed. After going potty, she celebrates with another joyful dance around the yard because she's so proud of herself. It's impossible not to smile watching her excitement.Phoebe is also incredibly smart. She quickly learned to ring bells at the door when she wants to go outside and easily mastered using a doggy door. She absolutely adores belly rubs and has started offering her paw for handshakes. She'll even lift her back leg to ask for more scratches.House Training & Daily LifeCompletely house-trainedUses a doggy door independentlyRings bells to ask to go outsideFree roam in the homeCan be left alone for up to five hours without any issuesRarely barksTravels wonderfully in the carPatient for nail trims, ear cleaning, and baths, especially when they're treated like a spa dayActivity LevelPhoebe is currently more of a sleepy companion than an active dog, but much of that is because she's still recovering physically. As her strength improves, she will likely enjoy leisurely walks and spending more time exploring. She loves to run and clearly wants to play, but she hasn't quite figured out toys yet. At the moment, they mostly serve as very comfortable pillows. With continued confidence and strength, she's expected to discover just how much fun playtime can be.Other Animals & ChildrenPhoebe has shown herself to be gentle and accepting with everyone she's met.Wonderful with children and patient with affectionate attention.Comfortable around cats.Calm around chickens, happily ignoring them even when they wander around her while she naps.Although she hasn't been introduced to other dogs yet, she appears to have a naturally submissive personality and would likely do well with patient introductions. A calm, confident canine companion may even help build her confidence. She has absolutely no food aggression.Phoebe is slightly more reserved with men at first but warms up with kindness and patience.Medical & Special NeedsPhoebe is still recovering from the neglect she experienced before rescue. She has mild neurological deficits that give her an adorable wobbly walk. She can walk and even run, but smooth flooring such as tile or hardwood can be challenging because her feet sometimes slip. Rugs or carpet help her feel much more secure. When she urinates, her front legs occasionally buckle, causing her chest to lower toward the ground. Gentle support under her chest helps her stay balanced, and continued weight gain and strengthening may improve this over time. She can navigate a few steps but may struggle with a full flight of stairs.Additional medical information:Recovering wel

13. Roseanne
Adult · Female · Great Dane · 15 mi from Tyler

Meet Roseanne ("Rosie")Location: Clifton, TXDOB: 6/22/21Roseanne, or "Rosie" for short, is the definition of a gentle giant. She is a calm, low-energy Great Dane who is happiest simply being close to her people. If you're looking for a laid-back companion who enjoys quiet days, short walks, and relaxing in the sunshine, Rosie may be your perfect match.Rosie is a true Velcro Dane. She loves having a cozy spot near her family and prefers spending her time by your side rather than being constantly on the go. A walk once or twice a day for a few minutes is plenty for her, and after that she's ready to settle in for a nap.

She also loves riding in the car and happily joins her foster dad on morning coffee runs. She's quiet, well-behaved in the vehicle, and has even done well waiting calmly for a few minutes while he runs inside. She has wonderful house manners. Rosie is fully house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is not destructive. She enjoys relaxing outside in a securely fenced yard, especially if there's grass to lounge in and a porch or deck where she can spend time with her family. She has shown little interest in wildlife such as deer or horses, preferring simply to soak up the sunshine.Rosie is naturally cautious around strangers, particularly men, and needs a little time to build trust. It took about five days for her to fully warm up to her foster dad, while she bonded almost immediately with his wife, Rebecca, who quickly became her favorite person. Once Rosie feels safe, she is affectionate, loyal, and devoted to her family. Her foster believes she may naturally gravitate toward women, although she happily accepts men once trust is established. At veterinary visits, Rosie has been shy and somewhat nervous with unfamiliar people. Because of her caution and impaired eyesight, she has occasionally given a warning growl, but she has never shown aggressive behavior. A muzzle was used during a couple of visits simply to help the veterinary staff feel more comfortable. Once her foster family is with her, she settles nicely and handles exams well. She also boarded for a few days during a family emergency and received excellent feedback from the staff.Rosie has not been tested with other dogs or cats. She has not lived with children, but based on her gentle temperament, her foster believes she would likely do best with respectful older children who understand her need for a calm environment.Rosie recently developed a nasal infection after arriving in foster care and is currently improving on a second course of antibiotics. She also has a cherry eye that has been evaluated by two veterinary clinics, both of which recommend surgery and expect an excellent outcome.Rosie would thrive in a quiet, low-activity home where she can enjoy a predictable routine and spend her days close to the people she loves. A securely fenced yard where she can relax in the grass would make her especially happy. She could be an excellent companion for a retired person, a single woman, or a family looking for an easygoing, affectionate Great Dane who simply wants a safe place to call home.If you're searching for a loyal best friend with impeccable manners, a gentle heart, and a love for peaceful days spent together, Roseanne is ready to become part of your family.===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! 15. Turk
Adult · Male · Great Dane / Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 15 mi from Tyler

Meet TurkLocation: Cedar Park, TXDOB: 12/05/2018Turk is the definition of a gentle giant. His favorite place in the world is curled up on the couch with his people, soaking up belly rubs, pets, and all the love you can give. While he may be a big boy, he's an even bigger sweetheart who thrives on companionship and being part of the family. When it's time for a walk, Turk can't contain his excitement! Just pick up his leash and watch him break into a happy dance. He enjoys short walks, a game of fetch, and playing with his favorite stuffed toys—the fluffier, the better. After a little exercise, he's perfectly content to spend the rest of the day relaxing beside you on the couch, often snuggled under a blanket.Turk is especially devoted to his people and absolutely adores children.

One of his foster family's favorite things is watching him curl up next to them or the kids after school. He's a laid-back companion with occasional bursts of playful zoomies, where he'll proudly grab a toy, race around for a minute, then bring it back to the couch to happily chew.Turk is house-trained, crate-trained, and travels well in the car. He settles nicely in his crate, though he may bark briefly at bedtime before relaxing. He would much rather be out with his family than alone and would love a home where he can sleep in the same room as his humans.Like many dogs, Turk has a few quirks. Thunderstorms and other loud noises make him very anxious, and he appreciates extra comfort and reassurance during storms. He can also pull on walks when something interesting catches his attention.Turk does have some important management needs. He shows resource guarding around food and should always be fed separately from other animals. He also has a strong prey drive and loves to investigate squirrels, rabbits, and other small creatures. Because of his resource guarding and a recent incident involving a small dog during an exciting greeting at the door, Turk would do best as the only pet in the home. He is not a good fit for homes with cats or other small animals. Larger dogs intimidate Turk. What Turk does love without reservation is people. He is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he's by your side. His ideal family will enjoy leisurely walks, games of fetch, and evenings spent relaxing together. In return, Turk will reward you with endless cuddles, unwavering companionship, and the kind of unconditional love only a dog like him can give.If you're looking for a loyal best friend who wants nothing more than to be close to his people, Turk just might be your perfect match.===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Adopting a dog with children in Tyler
Bring the whole family to meet the dog before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the dog behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the dog come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the dog alone while it's eating or sleeping. Give the dog a bed or crate of their own to retreat to, and always supervise young children with a new dog.
Relaxed adult dogs are often a better match for young children than puppies, which jump up, nip and chew while they learn.
