Kids? We think he would do best with older kids, maybe 10 plus, who understand boundaries and know that even the most lovable old man needs a little personal space sometimes! He can also get a bit overstimulated at times and will do best with an understanding and knowledgeable owner. Carmello has plenty of life, love, and squeaky-toy destruction left in him. He's looking for a family who will see past his age and recognize the fun-loving, affectionate boy waiting to steal their hearts. Senior dogs are seriously underrated! Come meet Carmello and give this distinguished gentleman the happily-ever-after he deserves! Interested in adopting? 11. Rex
Adult · Male · Pug / Eurasier / Mixed

Meet Rex! Five-year-old Chihuahua mix Rex is a little guy who is still trying to figure out this whole new world around him. Rex came to us through a seizure case and sadly, he wasn't living in the best conditions. He arrived with three other dogs, and while he seems to be dog friendly, he is very nervous and unsure of new people and new experiences. A dog test will be required with any current dogs in the home. Rex may need a couple of meet-and-greets before he feels comfortable enough to show you who he really is. He is unsure about affection right now, and that's okay. He needs someone who understands that trust takes time and will allow him plenty of decompression time without asking too much of him too quickly.
Read more about Rex
We're looking for a patient adopter who will give Rex the opportunity to learn what it means to simply be a dog to explore, play, relax, receive some lovins, and discover that the world isn't as scary as he once thought. We are unsure how Rex feels about children, so the whole family will need to come to the meet-and-greet. We are also unsure about cats, and super slow, patient introductions would be best. Rex is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Rex doesn't need someone who expects him to come out of his shell immediately. He needs someone willing to sit beside that shell and patiently wait for him to realize he's safe. Once he does, we hope he'll discover just how wonderful life can be. Interested in adopting? A dog test will be required with any current dogs in the home. We aren't sure how she feels about cats, so super slow and patient introductions would be best.

Once Skye learns she's safe, we think there's going to be a whole lot of love waiting to come out. Skye is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Meet Shamrock, a 5-month-old Pit Terrier mix who decided his first big adventure should be an unexpected solo trip around the Maplesville area. Unfortunately, no one came looking for this handsome little guy. But Shamrock isn’t letting that keep him down! He has officially moved on to Plan B: find himself a forever family who thinks he’s pretty darn awesome. Now, we should probably mention that Shamrock can be a tiny bit unsure when something new comes his way. But honestly? This kid is a BRAVE little explorer! Give him a minute to investigate, sniff around, and decide that whatever looked scary two seconds ago is actually pretty interesting. And people? He LOVES them. He wants to be where the action is, see what everyone is doing, and soak up all the attention he can get. At just 5 months old, Shamrock is right in the middle of one of the most important learning stages of his life. He should be busy discovering the world, learning puppy manners, experiencing new things, and figuring out how amazing life can be, not spending his puppyhood behind kennel bars. This boy has SO much potential. He just needs someone willing to be his teacher, cheerleader, adventure buddy, and forever person. Shamrock may not have had the best luck so far… but maybe his luck is about to change! Will you be the one to change it? (9/13/26 Hope)

MEET PUP! Sometimes the dogs who haven't had the best start in life are the ones who appreciate a little love the most. Meet 3-year-old Pup, a 30-ish pound Pit Mix who is ready to discover just how wonderful life can be! Once he knows he's safe, Pup absolutely LOVES being loved on! Outside is where Pup really gets to show his curious side. He wants to check out everything around him and take in all the sights and smells. He also walks well on leash, is housetrained, and does pretty well riding in the car.
Read more about Pup
Pup has unfortunately not had the best life before coming to us and was kept outside most of the time. We'd love nothing more than to find him a family who will show him what it means to be safe, loved, included, and part of a family. Dogs: Pup is dog selective and seems to prefer female dogs. A dog test will be required with any current dog in the home. Cats: His previous owner said he was interested in cats but generally indifferent toward them. As always, slow and patient introductions are best. Kids: He has only been around older children, so we recommend a home with older kids who can respect his space while he gets comfortable. Pup is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. This sweet boy may need a little time to come out of his shell, but we think the family willing to give him that time is going to discover one pretty special dog. Felicia is such a sweet and kind soul! She has so much love to give, but she needs a special person to help her come out of her shell. We're not sure what happened in her past, but we know it wasn't good. She came in as a stray and was scared of everything—people moving too fast, loud noises, leashes, bowls clanking. She would shut down and shake in fear, trying her best to disappear. Felicia has been in a shelter for about a month and is finally learning to trust again. She now enjoys her time with people and loves being carried like a baby! She’s slowly learning how to walk on a leash... baby steps! She's gets along with other dogs she has met at the shelter, but she's super shy. Felicia would do best with a patient and understanding family who can help her build her confidence. Once this girl knows she's safe with you, she'll love you unconditionally!

She tends to warm up to women more quickly than men, but once you've earned her trust, you'll discover just how incredibly sweet and affectionate she truly is. This energetic girl is looking for an active family that can keep up with her zest for life. Whether it's long walks, hiking adventures, or plenty of playtime, Athena will happily be by your side.

She has been tested with a couple dogs here at the shelter and done well, she is still labeled dog selective and a dog test will be required. 30. Sinbad Lower Fee In Pa
Adult · Male · Rhodesian Ridgeback / Mountain Cur / Mixed (short coat)

Sinbad is a handsome, approximately 9-year-old mix of Rhodesian Ridgeback and Mountain Cur, weighing about 75 pounds
Sinbad has spent his entire life on a horse farm surrounded by animals and family. He has lived with horses, cats, chickens, and another dog with whom he gets along well. He’s comfortable around horses, although he does enjoy trying to chase the chickens and cats if given the opportunity.

Sinbad loves being outside. Playing fetch and Frisbee are some of his favorite activities, and he always enjoys going for walks. As he’s gotten older, he’s become even more affectionate. A true definition of a lap dog, he loves hard. He absolutely loves attention from his people and will happily roll onto his back for belly rubs and cuddles. He especially enjoys relaxing in bed with the adults in the house and simply being close to his family.
Sinbad has grown up with four children and, for many years, showed incredible patience as they played with him, hugged him, and climbed all over him. As he’s entered his senior years, however, he prefers a quieter lifestyle and has less tolerance for the constant activity that comes with a busy household of young children.
One thing that’s important to know about Sinbad is that he has always displayed some resource-guarding tendencies with high-value items like his balls, toys, and bones. Once he’s finished playing fetch and takes his ball to settle down, he prefers to be left alone with it. Because of this, he would do best with owners who understand canine body language and are willing to simply give him his space when he has something he considers valuable.
His present family has grown over the years, and with children now ages 2, 4, 9, and 11, his home has become much busier than it was when Sinbad was younger. While he still craves attention and affection, he no longer enjoys the constant hustle and bustle. Now, he deserves a quieter home where he can be the center of someone’s world again.
Sinbad would thrive in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children who understand and respect his boundaries. He would make a wonderful companion for a single person, couple, or retired family looking for a loyal, loving dog to share their days with. He has so much love to give and simply wants a peaceful home where he can enjoy walks, snuggles, belly rubs, and all the attention he deserves. (posted 4/5/26, RH)
