2. Nacho
Adult (5 years 5 months) · Male · Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 21 mi from Troutdale

Nacho was origionally rescued from a bad hoarding situation along with several others and had NO socialization (they lived like wild animals). Nacho was one of the lucky ones who was adopted into a great home butt sadly his owner became unable to care for him & we were asked to take him. Nacho has anxiety issues in new situations that he is unfamiliar with. When it becomes an every day thing, he is more comfortable with it. He pees just about every time he gets excited about anything. New people, being scolded, a new venue, greeting us when we come home, even waiting for me to fix his food! He does not like getting his feet wet or cold and does not like being rained on.
Read more about Nacho
Noises still bother him, like thunder, the planes that fly over, motorcycles, loud cars, and any beeping sound like microwave or oven. Nacho is really good on a leash and he and Max will walk together side-by-side. He loves for us to go out with him in the yard. Nacho is very sweet and now lets us get close to him, give him a kiss and put our hands over his head to hook his leash without cowering. He loves being rubbed and snoozing on a lap. He now sleeps very soundly and likes to be covered with a blanket at night. Nacho has not been exposed to children while with us but I don’t think small children would be a good idea because of his suspected breed (Chi mix) and jealousy. Nacho seems to like a companion and had to be taught that Max was here and there was no room for jealousy. He has learned tolerance, manners, and to slow down his eating. Nacho’s new adopter will need to understand and be willing to invest time to ensure that he adapts to a new household, acclimates to a new life and is given time to learn new routines without being punished for not meeting whatever standards they have set ahead of time.

4. Bunny
Adult (8 years 1 month) · Female · Corgi / Mixed (medium coat) · 21 mi from Troutdale

Meet Bunny – the Tiny One-Eyed Queen
Bunny has perfected the "get off my lawn" look, and frankly, she's earned it. This little lady comes with one eye, a whole lot of opinions, and enough sass to keep everyone in line.
She's spayed, fully ready for her forever home, and while she does have a chronic ear infection that requires ongoing medication, she takes it all in stride... well, as much as an old lady with attitude can.
Bunny isn't looking for chaos. She dreams of a cozy bed, a predictable routine, and humans who appreciate a dog with a little extra personality. She may not shower you with kisses every five minutes, but when Bunny decides you're her person, you'll have the privilege of serving royalty.
If you're looking for a tiny senior with big character, hilarious expressions, and the confidence of someone who knows she's always right, Bunny is waiting to rule your heart—and probably your couch.
Adopt Bunny.

6. Izzy
Adult · Female · Golden Retriever (medium coat) · 47 mi from Troutdale

Izzy is a very special girl who needs a loving and understanding home. She is a 3 1/2 year old Golden Retriever.
Her owner got her from a shelter when she was a puppy. Her owner wasn't fond of her and then got really mad when she showed signs of food aggression. We got her out of that situation but 3.5 years is a long time to live with someone who doesn't really like you.
Izzy does have food aggression with other dogs but it is something that we are working on with a trainer. She needs a new home without kids and possibly no other dogs.

She also currently has Lyme disease that will make her sore and uncomfortable and maybe a little grumpy. We are looking for a foster home or a new forever home that understands a dog with food aggression and can help us train her that she will never be denied a meal.
he is a beautiful girl and very friendly when not around food. She deserves a second chance from her rough beginnings. If you would like to meet her please fill out an application from our website.

7. Pepper
Senior · Female · Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat) · 47 mi from Troutdale

This sweet girl needs our help. Her owner is devastated but has no other option but to find her a new home.
Her name is Pepper and she is about 9 years old and weighs 35 pounds. Her breed is called a Middle Eastern village dog. Her owner rescued her from an agency that goes overseas and rescues dogs in Pakistan and Kuwait ,she is actually from Kuwait.
As you can see from her pictures she knows how to smile and have a good time. She is a little leary of men especially if they have sunglasses or a hat on. She is great with children and loves most other dogs, we would have to do a meet and greet before foster or adoption.

We don't know what her life was like before her owner got her and it is understandable that she is scared of gunshots and fireworks. All this is handled with some love and special hugs from everyone that cares for her.

9. Biscuit
Adult · Male · Golden Retriever / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (long coat) · 47 mi from Troutdale

Biscuit is a 5 year old Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix, he weighs about 60 pounds.
We adopted Biscuit out to a lovely couple 3 years ago. Unfortunately they are having health issues and we need to find Biscuit a new home.
Biscuit's pros: Amazing with kids of all ages, doesn't bark unless absolutely necessary, good with other dogs, loves attention and is loyal.
Biscuit's con's: chases small animals like rabbits and squirrels, we are thinking no cats because of this, he is stubborn and afraid of thunder and fireworks. We said he is good with other dogs and he is but he can get protective with his owner when unknown dogs are around.

10. Meatball
Adult · Male · French Bulldog / English Bulldog / Mixed (short coat) · 47 mi from Troutdale

Meatball is a 2 1/2 year old French/English Bulldog mix, (Frenglish breed) he weighs about 36 pounds. We rescued him from the shelter so we don't know how hard his past has been but he is such a happy boy.
Meatball is super sweet and just wants to be with his humans. He came to us with a very bad skin condition. His foster parents have done a wonderful job clearing that up and making him feel so much better. Meatball loves other dogs and is great with kids.
Read more about Meatball
He will need a family that is experienced with French and English bulldog breeds since they can have a lot of health issues. Meatball is very special to us and we want him to be placed in the perfect home for him. He will need someone who is home often and has a safe fenced in yard where he can enjoy his potty and play time.
We will not be asking an adoption donation for the total of his vet bill because that is very high. Instead since he is considered a crossbreed (designer dog) we will be asking a $400 adoption donation to help pay down his vet bill.
If you would like to meet Meatball please fill out an application from our website.

11. Sasha
Adult · Female · Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 47 mi from Troutdale

Sasha is a 2 year old Terrier mix weighing in at 27.4 pounds. She was a stray and was picked up by animal control. She had been there for 18 days and they were running out of options so we scooped her up in hopes to find her a good home.
Sasha is a very sweet girl with a big heart. She loves other dogs and humans and just wants to please everyone. She is 2 years old and didn't know what a leash was so she is going to need a little work with a harness and leash. One of the volunteers at the shelter took her out to the creek and she did so wonderful with her and her little girl.

Adopting a dog in Troutdale
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
