Read more about Sally

Hi! Hi! Hi! Did I say hi yet? My name is Sally, but sometimes my foster mom calls me Salligator, Salmonella. I’ll respond to pretty much anything, especially when you tell me I’m a pretty girl. My fur must be velcro, because I Absolutley am stuck to my humans side
24/7
. I get anxious when you’re not around, but I promise to behave when you’re gone! That leads me to the thing they call a kennel. Can we just say, no thank you?! I am working hard on kennel training but it’s very scary for me. You see, I just want to be near and beside my humans at all times. I’m also working hard on commands. I know sit, stay, and am so close to mastering heel. I live with a thing that meows, but I really don’t mind it! I’m interested in the cat, but I don’t chase. I’ve been waiting patiently to be near the cat, and we finally sat together a few days ago! I love sleeping on the bed with my person/people. Walking? I’m a pro. I don’t pull on the leash, and I don’t zig-zag too much. If I see another dog on a walk, I just look in its direction. Call me to come and keep walking and I will! Seeing other humans on walks doesn’t bother me either. I am just eager to share my love with everyone! My foster mom says I’m one of the quietest Boxers ever… except for my snoring! I also live with tiny human that has special needs, and I’m so gentle with her! Again, just being near my humans is where I want to be. My foster mom says I’m an ambassador for being America’s Sweetheart!

Adult (1 year) · Male · Boxer (short coat) · 32 mi from Woodville

COMING SOON TO RESCUE: I was found as a stray. It's unclear how long I was on my own as I have a lot of defensive wounds at various stages of healing. Stay away from coyotes and don't turn your back! I'm hesitant at the moment around other dogs, but hopefully once I'm healed other animals won't feel so scary. I'm very sweet with my humans and love cuddling with the kids. I'm being crate trained and so far, it looks like I'm housetrained. I like to go for walks, even the kids can walk me. I'm fairly calm, but I'm sure once I heal, I'll be the bouncy , goofy pup I'm meant to be!

Read more about Loko Adoption Pending

Don't let the name fool you—Loko is about as crazy as a warm cup of chamomile tea. At 5 years old, this sweet gentle boy is easily the chillest, lowest-drama roommate you’ll ever meet. He is crate trained, a dream on his leash, and 100% unbothered. Loko’s life philosophy is simple: go with the flow, hand out big leaning hugs, and embrace everyone he meets—whether that’s other dogs, cats, or the vet giving him a checkup (he's 100% unbothered by it all). If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, high-cuddle companion who trades barks for gentle snoozes and treats every day like a lazy Sunday, Loko is ready to warm up a spot right next to you on the couch!

COMING SOON: Oh hey there, I'm basically the world's biggest, squishiest baby! Give me ALL the pets and attention—seriously, I will never say no! I'm a total goofball who loves bouncing around with my human, throwing my paws in the air like I just don't care! Crinkly foil toys? OBSESSED. Couch cuddles while binge-watching TV? Yes please! I'm super quiet (a gentleman, really) and I'll politely let you know when nature calls. Other pups? I'm SO down for playdates! I'm also a total softie around little human babies—gentle as can be. No rough stuff here—just shower me with love, toss me some good kibble, and I'm the happiest, wiggliest camper you ever did see!

10. Dior

Adult · Male · French Bulldog · 41 mi from Woodville

Say hello to Dior, an almost 3-year-old French Bulldog with a big personality packed into 23 pounds of brindle perfection! This silly little guy loves being wherever his people are, following you from room to room, soaking up affection, and making sure you always know what he’s thinking with his signature Frenchie grumbles. He’s a total sweetheart who loves to be held and included in all the daily activities. He does have a preference for having his people around. He isn't a fan of being crated when everyone is home and would much rather be out enjoying their company. He may whine briefly in his crate when he's ready to be done or hears people moving around, but he settles down quickly.

Read more about Dior

He can also let out a few short, fairly mild barks when he hears cars, neighbors, or other noises. He isn't typically a prolonged barker when left alone.Dior would love a home where someone is around more often than not and where he can be part of the family. He would appreciate a family who enjoys a little playtime indoors and a couple of short, leisurely walks each day. Due to his current breathing limitations, walks should be kept short with plenty of breaks.Like many French Bulldogs, Dior needs a little extra attention when it comes to his skin. Regular medicated baths and skin moisturizers will be important to keep him comfortable, and he may need seasonal Apoquel if his dry skin isn't adequately controlled. He will also be on a contract for his nares (nostril) and soft palate surgery. His breathing currently limits his exercise, so his adopter should be prepared to continue being mindful of his activity and comfort.Dior is a goofy, affectionate, slightly grumbly little companion who just wants to be loved and included. He has so much personality, so much sweetness, and so much love to give. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow who will make you laugh, keep you company, and happily accept all the cuddles you have to offer, Dior might just be your guy!If you are interested in Dior, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. 11. Eddie Munster

Young · Male · Wirehaired Fox Terrier · 41 mi from Woodville

Meet Eddie Munster, a little dog with a big personality, an adorable underbite, and a heart that just needs a little time to feel safe! At 9 months old and 16 pounds, this tan Wirehaired Terrier is a sweet, playful little guy who loves snuggling with his people, playing with other dogs, and discovering all the fun things life has to offer.Eddie was quite nervous when he first arrived in foster care, but he's making progress every day. He enjoys toys, games of chase with other dogs, and exploring on walks. Crunchy fall leaves are a particular favorite, and he loves plowing through them! He's also a champion blanket snuggler.

Read more about Eddie Munster

Rather than lying on top of his blankets, he'll bunch them up and curl around them like he's spooning a friend.Eddie gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion who likes to play without being too intense. He's also done well around his foster family's young granddaughters, but because he can be skittish, a home with children 13 and older is recommended. His experience with cats is limited, so that's still an unknown.Eddie does need a little extra patience and understanding when it comes to handling. When he was found, he was severely matted, including around his neck and face, and needed to be sedated and shaved to safely remove the mats. While we don't know exactly what he experienced before coming into rescue, he is now very uncomfortable with having a collar, harness, or leash put on or taken off. When he feels frightened or overwhelmed during this process, he may use his mouth to express his discomfort. His foster family is working with a trainer to help him feel more comfortable with handling, and he's making progress. He currently walks successfully using a slip lead, but his future family will need to be patient and committed to continuing his training with gentle, positive reinforcement. Building trust and helping Eddie feel safe will be an important part of his journey.Eddie is also still learning his potty-training skills and making progress, especially with frequent outdoor breaks. He settles into his crate fairly quickly once he's inside, although he isn't a fan of going in. He's an energetic pup who enjoys a good walk and plenty of playtime, and a securely fenced yard is required. Eddie is a talented escape artist who can dart through an open door in a flash, so careful management is important.Despite his rough start, Eddie is a very loving little dog who wants to cuddle, play, and be part of a family. He'll need an adopter who understands that building trust takes time and who is willing to help him continue gaining confidence at his own pace. The right patient, committed home will make all the difference for this special little guy!If you are interested in Eddie, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Franklin is still working on impulse control and manners, so he will benefit from someone who can provide consistent guidance, routine, and positive reinforcement to help him become the best version of himself.Franklin loves having a canine companion! A confident, balanced, even-tempered resident dog would be a wonderful addition to his new home, as he enjoys having a playmate who can also help him learn to relax. He needs an adopter who understands separation anxiety and is prepared to continue working with him on it. A home without shared walls is required because of his barking when left alone.Franklin is a big, boisterous boy who can be a little too enthusiastic, so he needs a home with no children under 13. She also gets along with other dogs, especially those who are laid-back and respectful of her space. She loves belly rubs, affection, and kibble, and she’s recently started discovering the fun of toys! She’s still learning how to play and beginning to get the hang of it. She may get into a little mischief while you're away, such as relocating your shoes, but she does not need to be glued to your side. She simply likes knowing someone is home and can eventually settle down for a nap when left alone. She is not crate-trained and is uncomfortable with being crated, so her future family should be prepared to accommodate her without relying on a crate. And one more thing about this princess: Delilah is not a fan of wet paws! A little drizzle may earn you a very judgmental look as she wonders why anyone would expect her to venture outside in such conditions. She will happily wait for better weather if given the choice.Delilah would love a home where she can enjoy plenty of companionship, gentle affection, and a relaxed daily routine. A family with multiple people would be especially nice, and another calm, compatible dog could be a bonus, though she doesn't need a canine companion to be happy. Once you've earned his trust, Rupert's affectionate, loyal nature shines through. He loves being close to his people and would make an incredible companion for someone who appreciates the devoted personality that guardian dogs are known for.Speaking of balls, BALL. IS. LIFE. Rupert's favorite hobby, favorite toy, and favorite pastime all involve a ball. Whether he's playing fetch, showing off his catching skills, or simply lounging in the yard chewing on his latest prized possession, Rupert is at his happiest when a ball is nearby. Future adopters should be prepared to maintain a healthy "ball budget" for this enthusiastic collector! Rupert also enjoys squeaking soft toys with his nose and carrying them around the house like they're his babies.Rupert has a medium energy level and is easy to satisfy with a daily walk, some fetch, and mental enrichment. After that, he's perfectly content relaxing beside his humans. He isn't vocal, doesn't struggle with separation anxiety, and has been wonderfully patient as he continues settling into foster care.Rupert's ideal home will likely be adults only and with someone who understands the unique qualities of guardian breeds. He would thrive with a single person or a couple who appreciates his loyal nature and is committed to providing the structure, boundaries, and consistency that help him feel confident and successful. Rupert is a smart, obedient dog who does best when he has clear expectations and a trusted person to guide him. When he is with the right human, he is one of the easiest dogs! He doesn't need a full social calendar, he just needs some quality play and relax time with his trusted people. Rupert would do best as an only pet or with a compatible canine companion after a proper introduction. He coexisted and played beautifully with a 5 month old foster puppy in his foster home and has made a few other canine friends.Rupert's foster family describes him as sweet, loyal, and an absolute ham. He loves rolling in the grass, dramatically flopping onto his back for belly rubs. He also will rarely turn down a hug invitation! If you're a confident adopter who appreciates a dog with a thoughtful heart, a playful spirit, and enough loyalty to last a lifetime, Rupert may be the perfect match for you.If you are interested in Rupert, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. 18. Chase

Young · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Terrier / Mixed · 41 mi from Woodville

If you’re looking for a handsome German Shepherd mix with a playful spirit, a love for adventure, and a serious appreciation for squirrels, Chase might be your guy! At approximately 1 year old and around 65 pounds, Chase is an energetic young pup who is excited to experience everything the world has to offer.Chase can be a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and has had no trouble making himself comfortable in his foster home. Once he settles in, he is a sweet and affectionate boy who enjoys cuddling with his people. He is generally quiet, although he will bark occasionally, and he has done well being left alone without any issues.Outside is where Chase really comes alive! He loves exploring, playing fetch, playing keep-away in the yard, and occasionally enjoying a good game of tug with a stuffed toy.

Read more about Chase

He especially loves chasing squirrels, and one of his funniest habits is jumping up a tree in pursuit of one! Chase has medium to high energy and does well with a few shorter walks each day along with playtime in the yard. Because he is an active working breed, Chase will need a secure fenced yard where he can safely get additional exercise. He has not tried to escape his foster's fence, but he does like to jump, so a taller fence would be preferred.Chase is house-trained and does a nice job settling down in the home, although he will happily help himself to the trash if it is left unattended. He is not currently crate-trained, and his foster family has been working on helping him become more comfortable with a crate. Chase is still learning his manners and can be a bit of a naughty youngster. He may jump up or grab at clothing when he gets excited, but he is eager to learn and responds well to patient, consistent guidance.Chase has not yet been introduced to other dogs, so we do not know how he would do living with one. When he sees dogs while out on walks, he gets very excited and may bark, pull, jump, or whine. His behavior appears more playful and enthusiastic than aggressive or hostile, but he will need appropriate introductions and continued work on his leash manners before sharing a home with another dog.Chase has also never lived with a cat. He has a high prey drive and becomes extremely interested when he spots cats outside, pulling heavily toward them, so a home without cats may be the best fit. His foster family cannot predict how he would respond to a resident cat.Chase has had limited experience with children. He has been petted by kids while out on walks and did well, although his initial shyness meant he was not particularly interested in lingering. Because he is an excitable young dog who is still learning his manners, any interactions with children should be supervised.Chase is a fun-loving, affectionate young dog who is ready to keep learning and growing with a patient family. If you can provide him with plenty of appropriate outlets for his energy, a secure fenced yard, and lots of positive guidance, Chase would love to show you what a wonderful companion he can become! If you are interested in Chase, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog in Woodville

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
