Newton County Animal Welfare in Harrison, AR has 9 dogs and puppies up for adoption. Here are all 9, each with photos, their story and how to get in touch.
Right now that's 2 puppys, 4 young dogs and 1 adult.
1. Angel
Young · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat)

Angel is a gentle, sweet, easygoing girl with so much love to give. Despite a difficult start marked by neglect and starvation, she still greets people with an open heart. She’s spayed, gaining weight, learning new things, and enjoying time with her pack of friends.
Through everything she endured, Angel was a loving mama. Sadly, only one of her puppies survived. Her little one, Peanut Butter, is also looking for a forever home.
Now it’s Angel’s turn to be cherished. This deserving girl is ready for a loving family who will spoil her with kindness, comfort, and a lifetime of love.

2. Penny
Female · Labrador Retriever / Collie / Mixed

Meet Penny!
Sweet, playful, and full of love, Penny is ready to find a family of her very own! Found as a stray in Hasty, this beautiful young Lab/Collie mix has a heart of gold.
Penny absolutely adores people, gets along great with other dogs, and loves nothing more than being part of the pack! Penny has the perfect balance of playful energy and gentle manners.
She's still young and loves to have fun, but she's also sweet, well-behaved, and eager to please. She already knows “sit” and “come” and would love a family who can teach her even more!

Most of all, Penny wants to be where her people are. She would thrive as an indoor companion, sharing everyday adventures, playtime, and plenty of love with her forever family.
If you're looking for a loyal, loving best friend with a playful spirit and a heart of gold, Penny might just be your perfect match!
Please note: Penny is one of our courtesy listings, which means she's being cared for by an independent foster home and we're happy to help spread the word to find her the right family. 3. Bambi
Adult · Female · Border Terrier / Terrier / Mixed (long coat)

Bambi is a sweet, gentle girl who adores the women in her life. She is very uncomfortable around men and would be ideal for a single woman or an all-female household, with no men visiting often. Calm kids 12 and up are probably fine.
She’ll need an adopter who lets her settle in at her own pace.
She’s a little thing, probably under 15 lbs, and she’s vaccinated, spayed, and ready to be someone’s cherished companion!

4. Peanut Butter
Puppy · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed

This sweet little chocolate-and-peanut-butter brindle puppy is looking for a forever OR foster home!
Originally part of a large litter born to a very friendly but extremely neglected and abandoned mama dog, Peanut Butter is sadly the lone survivor from the litter, but she is currently in a place with many other dogs and cats, so she is still being socialized with other animals.
Peanut Butter is described by her caretaker as “shy, but friendly” – and they said that she LOVES the kiddy pool! She loves to soak herself, roll around, and play with the hose.

Currently living in a large pack, Peanut is still young enough that she is moldable, and training and socialization should go far. She just needs a safe, comfortable home where she can get some exposure to potential adopters looking to add a sweet girl to their household.
Peanut Butter is vaccinated and will be spayed before being adopted or fostered.

P.S. Peanut Butter’s mama is also available for adoption!

5. Ice
Young · Female · Hound / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Ice! ❄️
This gorgeous girl has the most beautiful blue eyes and a personality to match. We’re guessing Ice may be a hound mixed with Aussie and/or cattle dog, giving her a fun combination of smarts, energy, and sweetness.
Ice is estimated to be around 2 years old. She’s friendly, intelligent, and gets along well with other dogs. She’d love a home where she can be part of the family, stay active, and get plenty of love and attention.
If you’re looking for a bright, beautiful companion with a sweet nature, Ice may be your girl!

Young · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Timber is a sweet, easygoing girl and beautiful brindle girl who enjoys spending time with the other dogs in her pack, especially a young rescue pup who she has taken under her wing.
She was originally found as a stray in a rural area along with her siblings and is now ready to find a loving home of her own.
Timber would love a family where she can feel safe, be part of the everyday routine, and enjoy plenty of companionship. She’s a gentle girl who’s simply looking for a happy place to call home.

7. Ollie
Puppy · Male · Pit Bull Terrier (short coat)

Meet Ollie!
Ollie is a sweet young bully breed pup, estimated to be around 7–8 months old, who is looking for a loving home of his own.
This handsome boy was sadly abandoned near our home and left to starve in the wilderness. Since then, he’s been nursed back to health, neutered, and fully vaccinated - and through it all, he has remained an incredibly good boy.
Ollie is crate trained and already knows “sit” and “down.” He’s still just a puppy, so he has lots of growing and learning ahead of him, but he’s off to a wonderful start and is ready for someone to give him the happy life he deserves!

8. Moose
Male · Doberman Pinscher / Mixed

Moose is a two-year-old mixed-breed, handsome black-and-tan boy weighing about 72 pounds. He came to us at four months old from a breeding situation, along with two siblings.
Indoors, Moose is a calm, shy, and sweet dog who settles easily. He enjoys petting, napping on the sofa, and spending time outside exploring his world. He loves to play and run, making him a great match for an active family.

Moose is good on a leash, comes when called, and is crate trained and buzz-collar trained. He does well with other dogs. He has been exposed to cats and teenage children; while he has chased a cat in the past, he is warming up to cats. Moose would do best in a home with older children.
If you are interested in a meet and greet with Moose, please fill out an adoption application on our website. Once reviewed, you will be contacted.
A meet and greet and home inspection are required for local adopters.

9. Jade
Young · Female · Boxer / Hound / Mixed (short coat)

Jade was found living in the woods of rural Newton County with a group of dogs, likely her littermates. After months of looking out for herself and her pack, she's figured out how to survive. Now she needs someone to teach her how to be a house dog.
Jade lives with a large pack currently and generally gets along with most dogs, though she can be bossy and pushy with some, especially other females. She's also vocal and will bark to announce strangers, but she listens and backs off when she's corrected. A meet-and-greet with any resident dogs is required, and she'll do best with someone who can give her consistent structure.
Read more about Jade
Jade is smart and responds to correction, so with a dedicated person and some regular training she should come along quickly. She's still young, with an adorable slight underbite and pretty moo-cow patches, and she has everything she needs to become a spoiled, well-mannered family dog. She just needs someone to step up and adopt or foster her!
