1. Truffles

Adult · Female · Wirehaired Fox Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Introducing Truffles.
This sweet 3-year-old Wirehaired Terrier mix is a professional lap warmer with a heart full of love!
She's calm, crate trained, and gets along well with other dogs, but let's be real, her favorite place is curled up with her humans, soaking up all the cuddles she can get!
She's new to the rescue, so we're still getting to know her. She may need some housetraining or a refresher course as she settles into her new home. A little patience and consistency will go a long way.
She came into our care with some hair loss due to a lack of proper care, but she's recovering beautifully and looking better every day.
Truffles’ adoption fee is $400.00
Please complete a non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org

All Paws and Prayers animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (age appropriate) and are given monthly flea/heartworm prevention. Adoption fees also include the pet's spay/neuter and microchipping.

Inquiries submitted through Petfinder or other third-party websites do not submit as applications in our database.

2. Gracie Lou

Senior (13 years 10 months) · Female · Cairn Terrier (medium coat)

Meet Gracie Lou! Interesting fact about Gracie, she has never met a truck she couldn't take (at least in her mind!). She weighs 16 pounds, and she'll plant her feet and lunge at anything with wheels that dares to pass her and her human on a walk. As far as she's concerned, she's scared every single one of those bullies away!

She's a 13-year-old Cairn Terrier, a little chunky, and equal parts sweet and spicy. Gracie makes up her mind about people quickly, and you'll know pretty fast which list you're on. The vet and the groomer are on the wrong one. So is the cat. And half her foster siblings.

Read more about Gracie Lou

Gracie was very loved for a long time, but sadly, her person had to move into assisted living and Gracie couldn't make that journey with her. That's how she ended up with us, and if her terrier attitude is anything to go by, she has plenty of life left to live!

The basics:

Perfectly housebroken
Loves her walks, vehicles included
Has creaky knees, so a home without stairs would suit her best
Would rather be the only pet. She may tolerate others...or not. She's selective.
Will protest vet and grooming visits

Gracie is doing great for her age - some mild vision and hearing impairment, as expected. She would do best in a single-level home with someone who likes short daily walks, keeps a firm grip on the leash, and doesn't mind that she runs the place.

Adoption Fee: $250, which includes spay, microchip, vaccines, and current prevention. Apply at: https://pawsandprayers.org/adoption-application/

Young · Male · Labrador Retriever / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (short coat)

Hi there! My name is Joseph Pup, affectionately called "Joey", and I am looking for a loving family to adopt me and take me home! Born on 12-15-25, I've been told I am sweet as honey, and will be a great addition to a loving home. Weighing in at 60 pounds, I will definitely be the first to jump in the car when possible to go to the Paws and Prayers amazing adoption events, where I absolutely love getting loved on and attention from new friends. If I sound like I might be your next true love, don't delay! Please fill out the application to adopt today. Joey loves to cuddle and leans into his person to say "I love you".

My daddy is an Australian Shepherd, weighing about 70lbs, and all we know about mama dog is that she has to be a super sweet dog (lab mix) because her babies are A-Maz-ING!! I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, dewormer, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped and ready to go to my new home. Adoption fee is $350 and any questions can be directed to marty@pawsandprayers.org. Joey would do best in a fenced yard due to his size and breeds.

4. Honey

Adult (6 years 1 month) · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat)

If you are looking for an incredibly sweet dog to add to your family, look no further. This 5 year old foster dog has easily won my heart over, and she'll do the same to yours. She is doing great with housetraining and crate training. I have left her unattended in the house and she does well given there's no yummy food on the counter. She loves toys, and usually has to grab one to take outside during potty/playtime. She loves to play fetch in the fenced in yard, but can easily jump over a 4ft fence, so I am asking for a 6 foot fence, or someone that loves outdoor activities. She loves curling up in a little ball on the couch or snuggling at bedtime.

Read more about Honey

She lives with another foster dog and does good. She's very receptive to commands, and does ok on the leash, but needs reinforced training to not pull. A special harness seems to greatly help with that! We do not know how she is with cats!!! If you would like to be considered to adopt this cute girl, please fill out our application at pawsandprayers.org, and I will be in touch after it has been reviewed!! Her adoption fee is $200, and includes her spay surgery, up to date vaccines, rabies, heartworm, flea and tick prevention, dewormer, microchip, and endless love from Sweet Honey!! Please email me at sswank1@gmail.com with any questions.

5. Sweet Shivers

in bed and doesn't make a peep all night long. She loves playing with toys, and will play fetch with a ball too. Dinner time is her favorite part of the day, and a nice nap on the couch is something she enjoys as well. She is almost potty trained, but still has pee accidents in the house if I'm not paying attention.. She is slowly warming up to being crated, but will still bark and get quite upset for the most part. I do sit near the crate with yummy treats, and when she quiets down, she gets a treat, which really works. ( I'll keep working on this....)

Please remember that adopting a smaller dog can be a 10-20 year commitment!! If you are interested in adopting Shivers, please go to pawsandprayers.org and fill out our non-obligatory application. Her adoption fee is $400, and includes spay, up to date vaccines, dewormer and flea/tick prevention, (she is heartworm negative), a microchip, and endless love from Shivers!

6. Waffles

Young (1 year 6 months) · Male · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)

If you are in the market for a new amazing dog, look no further. This deliciously sweet boy is crate trained, house trained, potty trained, knows several commands such as sit, come, and down, and for sure would love to learn more if treats are involved. He's definitely a black lab (mix), because he has the webbed feet for swimming, but we don't even know if he's ever been able to swim!! Hint....Hint.... LOL Waffles can be a bit mouthy, and it likes he was never taught as a puppy, so we would love a kind, patient family that can guide him and teach him how to be better boy. So many great qualities though. He loves playing with toys and chasing balls, and we would be thrilled to find him a family that enjoys long walks in the neighborhood, or even an adventurous hike would be a blast for him. (Probably another first).

7. Bonnie

Adult (2 years 11 months) · Female · Corgi / Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie / Mixed (medium coat)

Bonnie is a 3 year old, 30 pound sweetheart that is ready to wiggle her cute little self into your heart and home. She loves giving kisses and spending time cuddling with her foster mom, and getting belly rubs. When it's nice outside, she enjoys relaxing in the sun, so a (physical) fenced in yard would be wonderful. Bonnie would love to be the queen of the house, as she can be dog selective, but if she had to choose, she'd pick a cute guy (dog) to be roommates with. We would love for Bonnie to go to an active family that loves getting out for hikes, or long walks in the neighborhood. She's an amazing girl, and deserves an amazing family.

To adopt Bonnie, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org so we can see if you are a good match. She is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and spayed and ready to go to her new home. She comes with a GPS collar. She does get attached to her person. Her adoption fee is $350.

8. Adorable Maisy

Young (1 year 3 months) · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / Husky / Mixed (short coat)

To know sweet Maisy is to truly love her. This 16 month old girl adores people and the love they give back to her. She is very fond of having doggie friends to play with, but would be just as happy to be a spoiled princess in her new home. Maisy is approximately 50lbs of pure adorable-ness, LOVES playing with toys, chasing balls, or relaxing on the couch for a movie night is always a good thing too! Don't forget the popcorn!! She is being fostered by an amazing dog trainer, who Maisy claims may enjoy playing dress up more than your typical girly-girl. LOL Maisy knows sit, down, stay, and has been an angel at adoption events. She does great in the car too.

9. Chippy Special Needs

Adult · Male · Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie (long coat)

Chippy is a 3-year-old male Shetland Sheepdog with lots of spunk. He is good with people and is a love. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready to go to his new home. His companion went into assisted living and he is at Paws and Prayers. To meet him please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org. His adoption fee is $300. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org. We have purchased a Bailey Chair for Chippy.

Read more about Chippy Special Needs

Chippy suffers from Megaesophagus. Megaesophagus is a condition in which the muscles of the esophagus fail. This means they can no longer properly move food or water downward, into the stomach. A normal esophagus works with a muscular, wave-like motion to propel food and water into the stomach. In this condition, the esophagus remains enlarged and the normal peristaltic movement does not occur, so food stays in the esophagus instead of moving into the stomach to be digested.

What types of foods do holistic vets recommend for dogs with megaesophagus? The diet for a pet with megaesophagus needs to be of a consistency that will easily move down through the esophagus without getting stuck. A “smoothie, moist porridge, or other soft consistency work well for many, though experimentation for the individual animal is often needed. Some dogs do best with food shaped into meatballs. A moist food may be blended in a blender or food processor to find a texture that works well for your pet. In lieu of 2 larger meals each day, it is recommended to feed 3-4 smaller meals. Both food and fluids need to be fed in an upright position and the animal should remain vertical between 15-30 minutes. A Bailey Chair is often used. Because high amounts of protein and fat require more stomach acid to digest, many experts recommend a diet lower in fats and protein and higher in carbs. This excess acid can cause erosion of the esophagus. The carbs help your pet maintain a good weight.

Treatment of megaesophagus in dogs: There have been reports that chiropractic treatment can be effective for some cases of megaesophagus. Acupuncture may also prove helpful in some cases as it stimulates the natural normal peristaltic activity.

Whole Grain Beef Recipe – Beef, two organic grains: 22% protein, 8.5% fat, 52% carbs Whole Grain Turkey Recipe - Turkey, organic oats: 21% protein, 15% fat, 52% carbs Grain Free Chicken Recipe - Chicken, grain free: 21% protein, 15% fat, 53% carbs

11. Cuddle Bug Dizzy

Adult (2 years 4 months) · Female · Dachshund / Mixed (long coat)

We did not name this little girl, but we are definitely going to roll with it for now. LOL Introducing Dizzy! New to Paws and Prayers, this sweet 23lb girl is proving to be an amazing velcro cuddle-bug lap dog! Ha! Two year old Dizzy is super sweet, and did wonderful during her medical exam, vaccines, etc today. Dizzy took about 3-5 days to get used to her new doggie brother in the home, so if you have current dogs and are interested in Dizzy, it may take a few days of introductions between a kitchen gate! (She is not a fan of being crated and will act likes she's dying in one.) lol She has been doing great with potty training, and seemed to really enjoy having a fenced in yard to run, play and go potty in!

12. Buck

Adult (3 years 1 month) · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (medium coat)

Buck is almost 3 years old, is DNA tested, and guess what!?! He is exactly 50% GSD and 50% Great Pyrenees. What a fun combo for a dog!
He gets super excited when he sees me getting my tennis shoes on, or my ball cap because he knows it means we're going hiking. He's 100 pounds of lean handsomeness. LOL. He does well as a couch potato and is calm in the house on a normal quiet day. He is house trained, crate trained and does well with other non dominant dogs.
He loves playing fetch with any ball, and if you don't have time to play, Buck plays by himself. I'm looking for a home without young children because Buck does have herding/guarding tendencies.
