By Dogs of the Day · Updated

Shepherd Help and Rescue Effort, Inc. in Plantation, FL has 9 dogs and puppies up for adoption. Here are all 9, each with photos, their story and how to get in touch.
Right now that's 3 young dogs and 5 adults.
1. Dino
Adult (7 years) · Male · German Shepherd Dog

Dino is a TRUE GEM of a dog who we recently rescued from the Miami Dade shelter.
This 7-year-old gentleman is polite, has amazing leash manners, knows how to sit on cue, and gently takes treats. He even offers his paw to ask for more! He is good with gentle dogs and would be a great family dog. He doesn't like cats.
He hopped right into a volunteer's car without hesitation, let them buckle him in, and handled his 50-minute road trip to the vet like an absolute champ.

Dino is a mature gentleman with lovely manners and the potential to be a fabulous lifelong companion. He deserves a home where he can finally enjoy the love, comfort, and stability he has been waiting for.

2. Hunter
Young (1 year 6 months) · Male · German Shepherd Dog

Another stray who appears to have been tossed out onto the streets of Miami, Hunter was so relieved to be found that he jumped right into his finder's car.
Hunter is a young dog, very puppy-like in both his energy and personality, although we believe he is around 1.5 years old. He's eager, affectionate, and has so much potential to become an incredible companion.
Because of his youthful enthusiasm, Hunter would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard and someone committed to continuing his training. With guidance, structure, and love, we know he will grow into the amazing dog he's meant to be.

Hunter is currently located in boarding, but we would love to find him a local foster home where he can decompress, learn, and show everyone just how special he is.
If you're interested in fostering or adopting Hunter, please reach out. He deserves a second chance at the happy life he's been waiting for.

3. Lyssa
Young (2 years) · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Mixed

She was abandoned in a Miami parking lot that had a large population of stray cats, and she remained there for several weeks. Several local rescuers saw a Nextdoor post about her and stepped in to help. They were able to safely trap her that same night and reached out to us once she was secure — and of course we said yes.
We believe Lyssa is around 2 years old. She is a calm, gentle girl who rides well in the car. She doesn’t seem bothered by other dogs, though she has not been officially dog‑tested yet.

Lyssa is currently located at our vet in West Palm Beach and is in need of a foster — or even better, an adopter who can give her the stable, loving home she deserves.
4. Lloyd
4 Years · Male · German Shepherd Dog

We rescued Lloyd from the Miami Dade shelter after his temporary foster reached out to us. She was only able to foster him for few days but quickly learned what a special dog he is. She couldn't let him go back to the shelter. He’s a gentle, affectionate dog who just wants to be close to his person. We really need a forever or foster home for him as soon as possible. Thunder and lightning make him nervous, and being confined in a cage heightens that anxiety. In his foster home, he did much better — he settles in, relaxes, and simply wants companionship. Lloyd is dog‑friendly - including small dogs, loving, and eager for stability. He hasn't been formally cat tested but did well on walk around the foster's neighbors cat.

5. Lily
Adult (4 years 1 month) · Female · German Shepherd Dog

Lily is a true sweetheart. We think she's around 4 years old. She is such a happy, friendly, loving girl. She is dog friendly, but we don't know about cats. She is very curious about everything & can be a counter surfer. She would benefit from training since she pulls a bit on leash. Despite being dumped, her fun and happy spirit is contagious.

6. Bandido
Adult (6 years 1 month) · Male · German Shepherd Dog

Meet Bandido — this handsome 6‑year‑old boy showed up at a jobsite in Miami several weeks ago with an injury around his neck, likely caused by a rope.
One of the workers became his guardian angel, caring for him and even bringing a mobile vet to the site to treat his wounds. Once Bandido was feeling better, the worker reached out to SHARE for help & we were finally able to secure a spot for him with our friends at Susano’o K9 in Miami.
Bandido is very sweet and social. He does well with other dogs when introduced properly, and we’ll continue learning more about him as he settles in

7. Bonny
Adult (1 year 8 months) · Female · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat)

BONNY IS LOCATED IN FANNIN COUNTY/NORTH GEORGIA
Meet Bonny. Bonny is our first dog available in the North Georgia area as we try to expand a little. Bonny was rescued from a shelter in South East Florida after being heartworm positive. We believe Bonny is between 1-2 years old. Bonny is dog friendly with proper introductions. We believe she would do best with older children. We don’t know about cats yet. Bonny is very loving and super sweet. She loves playing fetch. She is good on a leash and is house and crate trained. It will be very beneficial for her to continue obedience training. Bonny is good in the car and loves to give hugs.
Read more about Bonny
Bonny has finished her as of the last week of October and has to continue her strict rest for 3-5 more weeks. She goes back to the vets on 11/30 for a blood test to check for microfilaria. If thats clear the last step is redo her heartmorm test in a few months to make sure she is negative. :) 99.9% come back negative. If she ends up positive at that time the rescue still pays for treatment.
If you are located in or near North Georgia or willing to travel and you are interested in Bonny, please complete an application at www.shepherdhelp.org.

8. Mila
Young (2 years 1 month) · Female · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat)

Mila was rescued from MDAS after struggling in the shelter environment. She had become very thin because the stress kept her from eating, and she simply wasn’t coping well there. Despite everything she’s been through, Mila is incredibly sweet. She’s a young, high‑energy girl who will benefit from continued training and structure.
Mila can be reactive to some dogs, but we’re not yet sure how she’ll be once she’s out of a boarding environment and settled into a secure, loving home.
Mila is affectionate, eager, and ready for a fresh
start. She just needs an adopter who can continue her training as she blossoms into the wonderful dog she’s meant to be.
