Yorkie Rescue Houston: 11 Dogs and Puppies for Adoption
By Dogs of the Day · Updated

Yorkie Rescue Houston in Spring, TX has 11 dogs and puppies up for adoption. Here are all 11, each with photos, their story and how to get in touch.
Right now that's 9 adults and 2 seniors.
1. Dash
Adult (6 years 5 months) · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat)

Dash (originally named 'BESO' by CAP) was pulled from CAP after he showed 'kennel cough' symptoms. Since there are so many unvaccinated/young dogs in the shelter, it was not safe for anyone to leave him there. ALL of our dogs are fully vaccinated against kennel cough, so bringing him into our care was safe. He went straight to our vet, where they told us he showed NO sign of kennel cough. (Probably just the irritation of the trachea from his trach tube during his neuter surgery!) This little boy is a delight.

2. Meliyah
Adult (8 years 11 months) · Female · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat)

Meet Meliyah—a tiny girl with a big love for lap time!
This sweet Yorkie mix weighs just 6.24 pounds and is happiest cuddling with her people. Her previous owner describes her as affectionate, playful, gentle, and eager to please. She enjoys comfy dog beds, couch time, and making sure you know when someone is at the door!
Read more about Meliyah
Meliyah is reported to be house-trained, leash-trained, and a good car passenger. She gets along with other dogs, but she would also enjoy being the center of someone’s world. She needs a home without cats or toddlers. Her former owner reported that she growled or snapped when a toddler handled her roughly, so gentle handling and respect for her small size are essential.
Her family surrendered her out of concern for her safety after rough toddler interactions and another dog’s food aggression toward her. Now she’s looking for a home where she can relax, feel secure, and soak up the affection she loves.
Since coming into rescue, Meliyah has been spayed and received a dental cleaning, vaccinations, and parasite prevention. She tested negative for heartworms.
Have room in your heart—and on your lap—for Meliyah? Apply to adopt through Yorkie Rescue Houston!
She is on a 'sensitive stomach' food and owner reports success with that.

3. Chiki
Senior (8 years) · Female · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat)

Chiki — 7 Pounds of Love, Opinions & Main-Character Energy
Meet Chiki, an 8-year-old, approximately 7½-pound spayed little lady whose former owner described her as a Yorkie/Maltese mix. She has spent all eight years of her life with the same family, so finding herself in rescue is a very big change for this tiny girl.
Read more about Chiki
Chiki wasn’t surrendered because she did anything wrong. Her family welcomed premature twin girls at only 27 weeks, followed by a 95-day NICU stay. One of the babies developed chronic lung disease and needs to be kept away from animals and other potential triggers. Chiki consequently had to begin living separately from the family she had always been accustomed to being with, and her owner recognized that Chiki deserved a home where she could once again be part of someone’s everyday life.
And being with her people is exactly what Chiki wants.
She’s a people girl
Her former family describes Chiki as affectionate, playful, a lap dog and a toy lover. She wants attention and closeness, and she especially enjoys people who are generous with affection.
There is, however, a little Yorkie-sized security department operating inside that 7-pound body.
Chiki is territorial and vocal. She barks. A lot. She takes a little time to decide whether a stranger has been cleared for entry into her inner circle, but once she knows you, the affection comes out. Her former owner was very clear that although Chiki is a barker, she is not aggressive.
Translation: Chiki has opinions, and she believes the neighborhood should hear them.
Her surrender paperwork also notes separation anxiety, which makes sense for a dog who spent her entire life closely attached to one family. An adopter who is home frequently and wants a genuinely companion-oriented dog may be an especially good fit.
Potty training: we're going to be honest
Chiki’s owner reported that she is not housebroken.
That means her adopter needs to be prepared for potty training — not merely hope she magically figures it out after moving into yet another unfamiliar environment. Consistency, routine, supervision and patience will be part of the deal.
If pristine floors are your highest priority, Chiki is probably not your girl.
If helping a little senior learn a new routine doesn't scare you, keep reading.
Cats? Nope.
Her surrender form specifically identifies Chiki as not cat friendly, so we are looking for a home without cats.
The medical glow-up
Chiki came into rescue at a beautifully appropriate weight. At her veterinary visits she weighed approximately 7.4–7.5 pounds, with an ideal body-condition score.
Her intake examination was otherwise reassuring: her eyes and ears were clear, heart and lung examinations were normal, her abdomen was comfortable, her skin and coat looked good, and she was walking normally without observed lameness. Her fecal testing was also negative for parasites, Giardia and Coccidia.
The big item on Chiki’s medical to-do list was her mouth.
She arrived with moderate dental disease, and rescue took care of it. Chiki underwent a full dental cleaning with dental X-rays and had nine teeth extracted. Her pre-anesthetic bloodwork was reported as normal.
So yes, girlfriend got the full dental spa package.
She is also microchipped, is reported as up to date on her core vaccines, received ProHeart heartworm prevention and Bravecto flea/tick prevention, and had her nails trimmed and anal glands expressed while getting established with rescue.
What Chiki needs now
For eight years, Chiki knew exactly where she belonged.
Then life changed around her.
Now she needs someone willing to give her the time to understand that she belongs somewhere again.
Her ideal adopter will appreciate a dog who wants closeness, won't be rattled by some barking, understands that she may initially be suspicious of newcomers, and is willing to work patiently on house training and separation anxiety.
Chiki isn't the dog for somebody looking for a perfectly programmed

5. Duke
Adult (4 months 3 days) · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat)

This puppy is available FOSTER-TO-ADOPT only as he has not yet been neutered.
Puppy Adoption Requirement: Because this puppy is currently too young/small to be altered, 50% of the adoption fee is due at the time of placement. Once the puppy reaches the appropriate age and weight, the adopter is required to present the puppy to our designated veterinarian for spay/neuter surgery. The remaining 50% of the adoption fee must be paid in full before the puppy is picked up following surgery. Completion of the scheduled spay/neuter is a condition of the adoption.
Meet Duke!
Date of Birth: June 7, 2026
Tiny body. Big future. Seriously adorable face.
Read more about Duke
Duke is one of Cookie’s handsome little puppies, sporting beautiful black-and-tan coloring, expressive eyes, and some seriously impressive little ears that appear to have minds of their own.
Duke is still at the beginning of his journey. He is growing, playing, exploring, learning, and experiencing new things every day. His adult personality is still developing, making continued positive socialization and training especially important.
Duke’s forever family should be ready for everything that comes with puppyhood — house-training, supervision, puppy mischief, basic manners, socialization, and plenty of patience.
He needs someone who understands that adopting a puppy means making a commitment not only to the adorable baby standing in front of you today, but also to the adult and senior dog he will eventually become.
If you are looking for a little guy to grow into your best friend, sidekick, cuddle buddy, and professional household supervisor, Duke is accepting applications.
Yorkie Rescue Houston provides the rescue support — you provide the safe place and the cuddles. When he is old enough, you present him to our vet for neuter surgery and only then, do we finalize the adoption.

6. LuLu
Adult (7 years) · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (medium coat)

Lulu may have a delicate name, but this little guy has already proven he is one tough Yorkie.
At approximately 7 years old and just 7.4 pounds, Lulu came to Yorkie Rescue Houston after his family sought euthanasia because of a severe injury to his right eye. The veterinary record notes that the cost of the surgery he needed was more than his family could manage. Instead of Lulu’s story ending there, he got his second chance.
Read more about LuLu
Lulu’s injured eye could not be saved, so he underwent an enucleation to remove the right eye. While he was under anesthesia, he was also neutered and received desperately needed dental care. His dental disease was rated Stage 5/5, and 17 teeth were extracted during his procedure.
His initial bloodwork also showed significant anemia along with changes consistent with inflammation. Lulu was started on an iron/vitamin supplement and antibiotics as part of his treatment and recovery. His chemistry panel—including kidney and liver values—was largely within the laboratory’s listed reference ranges.
That sounds like a lot for one tiny dog—and it is. But Lulu is getting something now that every dog deserves: the chance to heal.
Losing an eye does not mean losing a happy life. Dogs adapt remarkably well to having one eye, and Lulu’s missing eye is simply going to become one small part of his story—not the thing that defines him.
What Lulu needs next is a family who understands that rescue is sometimes a process. He has been through pain, major surgery, and enormous change in a very short period of time. His perfect home will give him the patience, security, and affection he needs while he continues recovering and learning that he is finally safe.
Lulu didn’t need his life to end. He needed someone willing to fight for it.
Yorkie Rescue Houston did.
Now we’re looking for the person who will make sure Lulu never needs rescuing again.

7. Bentley
Adult (6 years 2 months) · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat)

Bentley’s journey to rescue is one of survival, healing, and second chances.
Bentley suffered a brutal attack by another dog that left him with a serious wound. His family immediately sought emergency veterinary care, where the injury was cleaned and Bentley was sent home. Unfortunately, the wound later became severely infected and it became clear that he needed much more extensive medical treatment.
His family tried to get him the help he needed, but as Bentley’s condition became more complicated, his care became overwhelming. With few options left, they made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him to their local animal shelter.
Read more about Bentley
Because of the severity of his injuries and the level of medical care he required, Bentley was immediately placed on the euthanasia list.
When the shelter sent out an urgent plea asking rescues to save him, Yorkie Rescue Houston said YES.
We picked Bentley up and took him straight to our veterinarian, where he underwent surgery to debride and thoroughly clean the infected wound. A drainage tube was placed to help the area heal, and Bentley began a course of strong antibiotics along with daily hydrotherapy.
When Bentley returned to the veterinarian to have his drainage tube removed, the difference was remarkable. His body was healing beautifully, and this sweet boy had already come so far.
Now Bentley is ready for the next chapter of his story.
Bentley is an incredibly chill, laid-back boy who seems happiest simply being close to his people. After everything he has experienced, we are looking for a special home that understands that physical wounds can heal faster than emotional ones.
Bentley needs a patient, compassionate family willing to give him the time and security he needs to fully understand that he is safe. He deserves a home where he will never again have to wonder what comes next—a home filled with kindness, consistency, and love.
Bentley survived the hardest part.
Now he just needs someone to show him what forever feels like. A home with NO STAIRS!

9. Fifi
Adult (6 years 1 month) · Female · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat)

Meet Fifi, a 6-year-old, approximately 8-pound Yorkshire Terrier with a big personality and an even bigger love for her people.
Fifi is affectionate, intelligent, playful, and extremely devoted to the humans she trusts. She loves attention, lap time, soft crinkly toys, car rides, walks, and outdoor play. Her foster says she has already come a long way since her first night and is becoming more comfortable as she settles into her new routine.
Read more about Fifi
Fifi wants to be close to her person and would thrive with someone who is home much of the day. She currently barks continuously when left without human company, so she is not a good fit for a home where she would regularly spend long hours alone. Her adopter should be prepared to work patiently on separation-related behavior and help her gradually become more comfortable with short periods of alone time.
She is learning to coexist with the other dogs in her foster home and is making progress. However, she may growl or show her teeth when they enter her personal space, and she can be possessive of human attention. Fifi would likely be happiest as the only dog, although a calm, respectful dog may be considered with slow introductions, careful supervision, and a successful meet-and-greet.
Fifi is also a very vocal little watchdog. She alerts to noises and activity around the house, so apartment living or a home with noise-sensitive neighbors may not be the best match.
Her potty training is still a work in progress. She does most of her business outside but occasionally has accidents indoors. A consistent schedule, frequent potty breaks, positive reinforcement, and patience will be important in her new home.
After observing her reaction to a dog-savvy 2-year-old visitor, Fifi should not be placed with young children. A calm adult home would be ideal. Older, respectful teenagers may be considered depending on the family and interaction.
Fifi is crate trained, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative as of May 2026. Veterinary records list her date of birth as June 20, 2020.
