Charlie is with our partner rescue in LA and can come to NJ with an approved foster or adopter.

Charlie is ready for the good life, and he’d like it to include friends, car rides, and a large chew-toy collection!

Found roaming the streets of Lake Charles, Charlie was terribly thin, very scared, and suffering from a painful embedded collar. A kind hotel worker spotted him and put out a plea for help. Rescuers answered, brought him to the vet, and gave this adorable boy a fresh start.

Now Charlie is discovering that being a dog can be pretty wonderful! He can be shy when meeting new people, but give him a little bit of time and reassurance, and his inner goofball clocks in. Once he feels safe, he’s sweet, silly, and has personality to spare!

A few things to know about your potential new best friend:

He gets along beautifully with other dogs

Cats are welcome in his friendship circle, too!

He’s house and crate-trained

He’s a quiet, easygoing car companion, always ready for adventure or a very important snack run!

He’s still learning his puppy manners, including the fact that human hands are not approved chew toys

Charlie’s foster family is helping him practice the basics, and he’s eager to please and making great progress! This sweet boy is looking for patient, loving people who will let him settle in at his own pace and will continue his positive reinforcement-based training. He’s had enough rough days, and he’s ready for a sense of security and a family who thinks his brand of ridiculous is exactly what their home is missing.

Charlie is fixed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and tested negative for heartworm. His adoption fee is $600.

Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.
