GINGERSNAP NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Gingersnap Best Guess for Breed: Schnauzer and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of August 2026 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 12 lbs
Gets Along With: Gingersnap does well with other dogs and must go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster - looking for a forever home!Special adoption considerations: Gingersnap is shy and must go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes.
Gingersnap is Looking For: A real home. Gingersnap and some other scruffy cuties that look just like her landed in the shelter. They all are sweet - but scared. Gingersnap hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet so she's both uncertain and scared in new places - AND she is eager to make up for lost time!
She'd like her own humans for sniffy walks and romps and world exploration. And snuggles, definitely snuggles. Making new pup pals along the way would be great too. And she'd like to go to dog school too - it's never too late to become a scholar!
Most of all, she'd like to know where she belongs, to be safe and loved for all her days. In exchange she promises so much love, so much loyalty. What do you say? Can you see her by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: Gingersnap has made so much progress since coming into our home! With us, she is an excited, affectionate little girl who jumps up and down with joy when she sees her favorite people. She is much more reserved around strangers, so she will need continued socialization and patient humans who will let her build trust at her own pace.
She gets along very well with our dogs. She can just as easily chill and relax with her dog friends or she is happy to chase them around and play. She is also very smart and food motivated. Training has been gradual, but she is capable and will do best with someone who keeps lessons positive, patient and consistent.
This little girl is surprisingly athletic and can jump onto chairs, desks and countertops! She is still working on house training and crate training. Gingersnap likes to graze on her food at different times throughout the day. She is also excellent at communicating her needs—if the water bowl is running low, she will move it around and make noises until we get the message!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
