Orangina: A Little Sweetness, Slowly Revealed
Age: 1–2 years | Weight: 10 lbs | Breed: Terrier mix
Orangina isn’t quite ready to pop the cork on her bubbly side—but the first little fizz is there. A morning tail wag. A quiet toy party in her pen. A shy kiss on the hand that offers her a treat. For this little shelter girl, those small moments are big milestones, and watching her discover that life can be safe and kind is a special kind of joy.
At 1–2 years old and just 10 pounds, Orangina is a reserved Terrier mix looking for a gentle home where she can build confidence at her own pace. Her personality is unfolding slowly, with glimpses of sweetness and playfulness that make every step forward worth celebrating.
A Private Showing of Her Playful Side
When Orangina first arrived in her foster home, she was so nervous that she didn’t want to leave her crate. Her foster introduced an exercise pen, which has become another comfortable home base. Having a familiar place to retreat helps her relax—and relaxed Orangina has toys to attend to.
For now, her best play sessions happen when the house is quiet and she thinks nobody is watching. She enjoys entertaining herself with her toys, then curling up for a nap with her nose tucked into her bed to keep it warm. She takes cozy very seriously.
As her trust grows, she’s beginning to greet her foster family with tail wags, especially in the morning. Treat time has also brought a few sweet, brief kisses on their hands. She’s still getting comfortable with people, but those little gestures offer a lovely peek at the dog underneath the shyness.
Her Daily Recipe for Comfort
Orangina does well with a predictable routine. She wakes around 6:30 a.m. and heads to the backyard for a potty break, then settles in her crate while her foster family tackles morning chores. Breakfast arrives around 7:45 a.m.: moistened kibble with a fresh-food topper.
After breakfast and a nap, she spends about 15–20 minutes in the backyard, taking care of business and practicing walking on leash. Then it’s back to her pen for toys and another snooze, with additional yard breaks between naps.
Dinner is at 5 p.m., followed by a final potty trip around 8:30 p.m. Orangina sleeps quietly in her crate through the night. She also rests comfortably in her crate when her foster leaves home, with no separation anxiety observed.
Small Dog, Excellent Housekeeping
Orangina has had no potty accidents in her foster home and is fully housetrained there. She’s comfortable in her crate, and her foster hasn’t heard her bark so far. She hasn’t shown digging behavior, either.
She enjoys chewing her toys, though she has chewed a leash and collar in the past, so adopters should supervise her equipment and keep appropriate chew toys available. Her coat sheds regularly.
Her current lifestyle is mellow: some quiet play, some backyard exploring, and plenty of comfortable resting. As she becomes more secure, her adopters will get to discover more of her interests alongside her.
Learning That the World Is Friendly
Leash walking is still a work in progress. Orangina practices in the backyard, where she tends to follow closely behind her foster. She sometimes resists the leash and needs gentle guidance and encouragement. She hasn’t ventured out for neighborhood walks yet, so her new family should be ready to build on these small practice sessions gradually.
She has shared space with two small resident dogs and has also been comfortable around gentle larger dogs, but she isn’t looking for a wrestling partner or an enthusiastic welcoming committee. She generally keeps to herself and backs away when approached. If another dog gets too close, she may snap to ask for space. Calm dogs who can leave her room to settle could be suitable companions, with slow, supervised introducti
