Meet Pearl Your Future Little Sidekick!

Silly, sweet, and just a touch sassy, Pearl is a Frenchie with a personality that’s really starting to shine! After a slow start adjusting to life in foster care, including the challenges of summer heat and heartworm treatment, Pearl has been able to stretch her legs, explore the world, and show off her fun-loving side. Now, this spunky little girl is ready to find a forever home where she can continue to blossom!

A girl who loves her beauty sleep

Pearl appreciates a slow morning and can often be found snoozing on the couch well into the morning hours. By afternoon, though, she’s ready to turn up the fun! She enjoys playing with toys (plush toys beware—sometimes they don’t survive!), chewing on bones, and showing off her silly side. She’s still learning which things are appropriate to chew, so she’ll benefit from continued supervision, plenty of appropriate chew toys, and a little help making good choices.

A social butterfly with a quirky greeting

Pearl is happy to meet new people and generally welcomes visitors into her home with enthusiasm. When meeting someone new, she may lower herself to the ground and army-crawl her way over for an introduction. It’s an adorable, somewhat submissive greeting, but she doesn’t appear frightened and is generally eager to say hello.

She can be vocal when she spots passersby or hears someone coming through the back door. Once she recognizes a familiar face, though, she’s happy to greet them. She’s still learning that not every little sound or movement requires an announcement!

Still learning her house manners

Pearl has made encouraging progress with potty training. She’s learning to take care of business outside and is beginning to head toward the door when she needs to go out. She also has a pretty reliable tell when she needs to poop: suddenly getting the zoomies! She still has occasional indoor accidents, especially if she’s left unsupervised, so a consistent routine and close supervision will help her continue to succeed.

At night, Pearl sleeps in an exercise pen rather than a crate. She sometimes has overnight potty accidents and may occasionally bark, so her future family should be prepared to continue working with her on nighttime routines and housetraining.

A work in progress when it comes to sharing

Pearl has some resource-guarding behaviors around food and her favorite person. She may try to beat the resident dog to a treat, and she can sometimes growl or snap when another dog approaches the couch while she’s snuggled up with her foster. Her foster has been managing these situations thoughtfully, including feeding the dogs separately and using calm, consistent routines around shared spaces.

Because of this, Pearl will need an adopter who understands dog behavior, respects her boundaries, and is committed to positive, reward-based training and careful management. A home without other dogs may be the simplest fit for her right now, or an experienced adopter prepared to manage dog-to-dog resource guarding safely. Any future introductions to other pets should be handled thoughtfully.

Pearl’s happily-ever-after

Pearl is a funny, affectionate, increasingly confident little dog who is discovering just how much fun life can be. She’ll thrive with a patient, understanding family that can provide structure, supervision, appropriate outlets for her chewing and play, and continued guidance as she learns her manners.

She may not have every skill mastered just yet, but she’s making progress and showing more of her delightful personality every day. If you’re looking for a Frenchie with a silly streak, a little sass, and plenty of potential, Pearl might just be your girl!
