Meet Summit!

Summit is looking for his forever home! This adorable Dachshund puppy is your typical happy, playful, curious puppy with plenty of personality packed into one very cute little body.

Summit is very outgoing and social and is adjusting well to home life. He listens well and is already learning the ropes of being a good house companion. He is showing great signs of house training and currently does well going outside on a schedule.

He is also working hard on his leash skills. Summit has only had one outing so far, to Tractor Supply. He was a little timid when he first arrived and got on leash, but it didn't take long for him to relax and have a great time shopping for treats! With continued practice, we feel he'll do well going out on leash for potty breaks, walks, and exercise.

Summit is learning some basic manners and commands, including “leave it” and “drop it.” He is a smart little guy who listens well and is eager to learn.

Now, Summit does have one very important thing to tell you: he believes his humans are his personal assistants! He currently thinks dinner should be hand-delivered, thank you very much. He is working on eating independently from his dish, but who can blame him when he's this dang cute?

And then there are the ZOOMIES! Summit has some seriously wild puppy zoomies and absolutely loves showing them off. After all that puppy fun, he is more than happy to curl up for a good nap.

Summit is also an enthusiastic little investigator. Don't be fooled by those puppy eyes—nothing gets past this boy without a thorough inspection! He loves exploring his surroundings and making sure he knows what's going on.

One area we're continuing to work on is crate time. Summit does bark in his crate and can take a while to settle down, so his forever family should be prepared to continue working patiently and consistently on crate training.

Overall, Summit is a sweet, social, happy, curious puppy who is learning more every day. He has so much potential and is going to bring plenty of fun, laughter, zoomies, and puppy love to the lucky family who gets to call him theirs.

I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work!
