7. Princey
Adult · Female · Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Culver City

Meet Princey! I came to the rescue scared and worn down, convinced the world wasn’t safe. I had my babies to protect, and I wasn’t about to let anyone get close. But my foster family? They were patient. They showed me that trust isn’t something I had to earn back—it was something I deserved all along. Now I’m that dog who absolutely lights up when you walk in the room. I love affection, I love attention, and I’m so happy to finally be a dog again instead of just a survivor. My four boys, Duke, Baron, Prince, and Earl are growing up so fast, and watching them play and explore reminds me every day that I made the right choice to let people love me.

12. Petals
Adult · Female · French Bulldog (short coat) · 4 mi from Culver City

Hi! I'm Petals!
I was kicked out of a car and left to fend for myself, but someone saw what happened and has been looking after me for a couple of weeks before I came to Big Love Animal Rescue. Now I’m ready for the next step, which is a life where I’m safe and loved in a forever home. I’m a sweet girl who’s ready to trust again, and I’m so grateful for the kindness I’ve already been shown. 13. Walter
Adult · Male · French Bulldog (short coat) · 4 mi from Culver City

Meet Walter! For about two years, my whole world was a fenced-off cement yard. I didn’t get to explore much, but I always kept my spirits up and waited for something better. Now I’ve seen the vet, and I’m all good to go. I’m ready for the next chapter: a yard of my own is optional, but a family to sit with on the couch is a must. If you’re looking for a loyal friend who’s been patient for a long time, I’d love to meet you.

14. Trixie
Adult · Female · Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Culver City

Meet Trixie! Trixie is a petite terrier mix who weighs just 9 pounds and has long, fluffy hair with a little coarse texture and the cutest curly fountain tail you’ve ever seen. We spotted her in a sea of small dogs at the Carson Shelter, and we’re so glad we pulled her. Her name means “charming trickster,” and she lives up to it every day. She makes her foster mom laugh constantly and runs around the house like a little circus dog doing parkour. She’s the smallest dog in her foster household, but she’s convinced she’s a big dog, and that confidence is part of her charm. She’s an excellent watchdog who’ll let you know who’s coming, who’s going, and who doesn’t belong. She reads the room well, too. When it’s time to rest, she follows suit, and at night she loves to burrow under your covers. During the day, she loves to play, chew on toys, and sprint from one end of the house to the other. She adores other dogs, enjoys playing with her foster siblings, and is a reliable referee during a game of tug-of-war. She’s a little cautious with new people at first, but once she sees you’re good, she’s in your face, giving kisses and happy to be held. Trixie is the dominant girl in her home, and she does best with a dog companion who matches her energy. She’s spayed and fully vaccinated, and she’s about 95% potty trained, so she’ll need a watchful eye to get outside on time. She’ll be the best and most entertaining little companion for life!

Hey there! I'm Hercules I'm the only surviving son of Mama Kitty, and I'm growing like a weed! I just finished nursing and I'm soaking up all the puppy life experiences—napping in sunbeams, discovering my toys, and learning what it means to be loved. I've got this sleek black coat with just a little white on my chest and speckled paws, and I'm gonna be a medium-sized pup when I grow up. I'm finally ready for adoption and I'm looking for a family ready for the puppy adventure. 17. London

I'm Mama London, a sweet girl who came to Big Love after an emergency rescue. I had a rough start, but I'm here, I'm healthy, and I'm ready for my forever home. I'm calm, loving, and gentle—the kind of girl who'll curl up next to you and make you feel like the luckiest person alive. I'm currently nursing my puppies and recovering, but I'm doing beautifully. Once they're ready for their own homes, I'll be yours to love. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a big heart, I'm your girl.

18. Pippa
Young · Female · German Pinscher (short coat) · 4 mi from Culver City

My name is Pippa, and I’m beautiful, spoiled, and pretty good at getting my way! My favorite hobbies include playing ball, going for car rides, eating, and chasing my foster family’s cats (although I’m not quite sure what I’d do if I ever caught one!). I also love kids—and their parents, too! I do have one little habit you should know about: I love chewing on anything left on the floor. So, the rule is simple: Pick up your shoes, or I’ll pick them up for you!

Oh, and apparently, I’m what humans call a “night owl.” I prefer sleeping during the day and being active at night. Hopefully, you can help me get my beauty sleep on a more conventional schedule! If you’re looking for a beautiful girl with a playful spirit, a mischievous streak, and plenty of personality, I just might be your perfect match!
Another thing, (not to brag) but I am extremely smart and anytime I need to go outside I let my human know so she can open the door for me. In exchange, I let her know if anyone comes to the door! I'm looking for a home of my own and would be pleased to meet you.
If you are interested in meeting Pippa, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions.

19. Ramona
Puppy · Female · Husky / Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Culver City

I was found as a stray by some nice people who helped me find my way to Forte Animal Rescue. I had a microchip, so they were able to contact my previous owner, who clearly never understood what it meant to be my guardian. He told them he didn’t want me anymore because he didn’t have time for a puppy. (Then why did he adopt me in the first place?)

Fortunately, I now have a wonderful foster home where there’s plenty of time for a puppy like me! I share my home with a big, friendly German Shepherd and a cat, and I get along great with both! I’m enjoying life with my foster family, but what I’d really love is a forever home of my very own. Could that be yours? Come meet me at a Forte adoption event!

20. Teddy
Young · Male · Wirehaired Fox Terrier / Border Collie (short coat) · 4 mi from Culver City

My original family adopted me from the pound when I was 14 weeks old. I am now being fostered because my humans could no longer keep me due to health issues. I have lots of energy and enjoy long walks, playing fetch, and cuddling. I am loyal and protective, and I alert my humans when someone new enters my home or when someone is outside. I miss my sister Rosie from my original family. I would love a family where I can feel safe and protected, with a big yard where I can run and play. I’m excited for my next adventure with a loving family.

Adopting a dog in Culver City
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
