Overview
Meet Celia, an adorable 7-month-old, 10-pound brown purebred Dachshund puppy. Celia came to Little Paws as an owner surrender after her previous owner no longer had enough time to care for her. She is a playful, affectionate puppy with a joyful little personality who is all about love and happiness.
Environment
Read more about Celia
Celia has a high energy level and loves going on walks, playing every day, and getting active exercise. She walks well on a leash and loves exploring. She has not tried crate training as she hasn't needed a crate so far. Because she has separation anxiety and can be quite chatty and vocal when left alone, she is not suitable for living arrangements with shared walls like apartments or townhomes. She needs an adopter willing to work on the separation anxiety. She relies on pee pads for her indoor potty routine.
Pets & People
Celia absolutely loves other dogs and is always ready to play, frequently trying to get resident dogs to join in her games. She is happiest when she has another dog around to interact with. With people, Celia is very nervous and skittish when first meeting new people, so she needs a little time, space, and patience to feel comfortable. She has never growled or tried to bite, and she has been curious around children and babies, approaching them cautiously before building confidence. She is highly food-motivated and will try to steal food if given the chance, but she responds wonderfully to quick verbal corrections.
Location
Celia is available for adoption from Doral, FL. Please email applications@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above.

Environment
Read more about Dolly6
Dolly is a high-energy puppy who thrives on daily walks and playtime. She loves to go on walks, though she is still learning her leash manners. Dolly requires a home with a fenced yard where she can safely run and play. She is currently using a pen in her foster home and does well in it when left alone. She is also not excessively noisy, making her suitable for a home with shared walls. Dolly is a smart girl who is currently a work in progress with her potty training.
Pets & People
Dolly is great with people and very sweet. While she hasn't been around small children, she would likely do wonderful with older children who can handle her playful puppy energy! Overview
Read more about Libby2
Meet Libby, an adorable 2-year-old, 9.8-pound mini Red Boar Dachshund with a huge heart. Libby came to Little Paws after her previous owners gave her away on Facebook. Though she needs a little time to settle in, she is a wonderful, affectionate companion who loves to play and is a fantastic cuddler when sleeping with you at night.
Environment
Libby has high energy and loves daily walks and playtime. She is a great walker on a leash and loves exploring the outdoors. She would love a fenced yard to run and play safely, but would do well if exercised regularly on a leash and harness. Because she can be quite chatty and bark loudly when strangers approach, she is not suitable for living arrangements with shared walls like apartments or townhomes. She relies on pee pads and is not currently crate trained, crying the entire time if placed in a kennel.
Pets & People
Libby does wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and loves playing with her foster's 2-year-old dachshund. Another playful dog in the home helps greatly with her anxiety and would be her ideal setup. With people, Libby needs about two days to warm up and prefers women, as men have not always been kind to her in her past. We will not place her with small children. While she barks loudly at strangers to protect herself, she has done wonderfully at large adoption events when given patience and time. She can be greedy with treats and eats separately from other pets.
Health & Special Needs
Libby is currently on anxiety medication which she needs to take twice a day, though her foster believes she may be able to wean off of them once she settles into a stable forever home. She is still learning how to ride comfortably in the car and gets nervous, doing best when secured in a dog car seat.
Location
Libby is available for adoption from West Columbia, SC. Please email DeeAnn Jones at

Overview
Meet Dolly, an absolute sweetheart and loving senior lady estimated to be 16+ years young, weighing 8.9 pounds with a gorgeous red coat. Dolly was found on the streets without tags or a microchip before finding her way to Little Paws. She is a total love bug who adores cuddling, being held, and giving the absolute best kisses.
Environment
Read more about Dolly5
Dolly has a medium energy level, loves going on walks, and is great when not left entirely alone. She appears trained to go outside and will also use pee pads. While she is fantastic on outings and loves going "shopping" wherever you go, she is not suited for living situations with shared walls because she will bark if left alone.
Pets & People
Dolly is wonderful with people of all ages, including children, and handles touching and petting like a pro. She is great with new people and has been accompanying her foster family everywhere. In a multi-dog home with the resident dachshunds, she was initially a bit scared but has successfully integrated and is now a happy part of the pack.
Food
Dolly is extremely food-driven and makes it known that she wants you to share. She needs her kibble to sit in warm water for a few minutes to soften it up.
Location
Dolly is available for adoption from Miami, FL and loves to ride in the car. Please email applications@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above.

5. Snyder
Senior (8 years 3 months) · Female · Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 8 mi from Heritage Village

Snyder needs to be an only dog.
Overview
Looking for a sweet little lady? Meet Snyder, a mixed breed gal who is estimated at 7-8 years old, weighing 18 pounds with a short black and tan coat. She was rescued from a shelter, and she has been soaking up all of life's simple pleasures ever since.
Read more about Snyder
Snyder is obsessed with two things above all else: food and naps. Mention a treat bag and she will come running, selective hearing won’t apply. She loves sunbathing, lounging on the balcony, and going on slow, meandering sniff walks. Give her a scratch behind the ears and call her a good girl, and she will light right up. This is a girl who has more than earned a soft, comfortable place to call her own.
Environment
Snyder is fully potty trained and does great with an exercise pen rather than a crate. She is very content to be left to her own devices for a while, and she is quiet enough to be a great fit for a home with shared walls. She loves her walks, though she is more of a zigzagging sniffer at the moment than a structured leash walker, and with a little time and patience she would likely learn to walk nicely on one side. A yard is not required, but daily walks are essential since they are one of her favorite parts of the day. She is a little nervous riding elevators but will do so just fine with some gentle encouragement.
Pets & People
Snyder is the biggest love bug once she feels safe and gets to warm up at her own pace. With her people, she happily accepts pets and cuddles and will even let you handle her paws without any fuss. Because she is an older girl who can be skittish with unfamiliar people, she does best without children in the home, and any new people in her life will need to let her come to them rather than reaching out first. She would be a wonderful match for a retired or work-from-home household, or any calm adult home ready to give her the patience she deserves.
Snyder prefers to be your one and only doggo at home. At mealtime she is polite and gentle, and she takes treats from the hand just as sweetly. Her one exception is collagen chews, which she likes to enjoy undisturbed in her pen, and she is perfectly happy to have any other treat or bone taken from her without any issue.
Health & Special Needs
Snyder takes daily supplements to help keep her comfortable and moving well, simple additions to her routine rather than anything complicated. She travels great in the car and loves to nap either up front beside her person or settled into the back seat once she has had a few minutes to relax.
Location
Snyder is available for adoption from Miami, Florida. Please email applications@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application. The adoption fee for Snyder is $250.00.

6. A Sebastien
Young (1 year 5 months) · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie · 11 mi from Heritage Village

Sebastien is available for adoption.
He is 18 months old and weighs 10 lbs.
His adoption fee is $900.00.
Hi ! I’m Sebastien I was picked up as a stray by animal control in NJ. There I had two previous adopters. One said I had too much energy and barked too much at his clients. The other had a large pig which they thought would hurt me. It was at that point SAYR pulled from the shelter and transported me to CT. where I’ve been at my foster family for a little over a week.
Read more about A Sebastien
I’m learning a lot and still have more manners to learn: I can be protective of food, and treats. I think I’m figuring it out, I don’t have to worry about getting food regular now. I love treats! Have I mentioned, I have lots of energy? I’m in good shape, very trim and have good teeth.
I love toys, hugs and cuddling. I’m okay with cats, but not gonna lie… when I get bored, I chase her. Foster mom said this is a NO. I’m still learning. I have a foster older brother, another Yorkie. I sometime play very rough, but he corrects me. I can be spicy to new people, but I warm up quick when I realize they won’t hurt me. (He is the sweetest and most playful boy once he feels safe)
Sebastien is staying with Gisele in Waterbury, CT 06710.

7. Zip meet me
Young · Female · Labrador Retriever / Vizsla / Mixed · 15 mi from Heritage Village

Zip is 5 months old & 35 pounds. I love to zip around the yard and roll in the grass. The others try to catch me, but I’m as fast as lightning! Shake a treat bag, though, and I’ll come racing back at top speed with my tail wagging. When I’m not showing off my zoomies, I’m happy to wrestle with my siblings, play with toys, or soak up all the attention I can get. I love people and am always ready for a cuddle after a busy day of fun. If you’re looking for a playful, happy-go-lucky pup who will fill your home with laughter, adventures, and unconditional love, I can’t wait to meet you! Zip is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.

Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. 12 weeks old and ready to be your new best friend. They call me good-looking around here, and I have to agree! My days are spent running around and chewing on my sister’s ear. Yes, I get in trouble. Was it worth it? Well… it was fun while it lasted! Looking for a fun-loving partner with a handsome face and just enough mischief to keep you laughing? I’m your boy! Come get me—my sister could use a break! 🐾 This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home.

This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event! The adoption fee is $600 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. 20. Timothy
Senior · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever · 15 mi from Heritage Village

Life has taken an unexpected turn for me. My lifelong owner became ill and could no longer care for my best buddy and me, so now we’re searching for a new place to call home. Don’t let my age fool you—I’m still full of energy and always ready for an adventure! I love cats, enjoy the company of other dogs, and make friends wherever I go. My buddy and I have spent most of our lives together, and while we’d love to be adopted as a pair, we’re both confident enough to thrive if we find separate families. I’m house-trained, know a few commands, and I’m eager to keep learning. I do get excited on a leash and tend to pull because I love to run and explore.

We ask for a $25 processing fee. We require people to have a vet history, dog experience, and time to work with a dog.
Adopting a dog in Heritage Village
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
