1. Mimi

Senior (7 years 2 months) · Female · Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat) · 12 mi from Townsend

Hi my name is Mimi! Before you get all excited because I am a poodle, please read all about me. I am a sweet girl, but I must have been used mostly for breeding because I am cautious of new people. I will literally run away from you if you move too quickly and when you do pick me up, I will shake even though I eventually will lean into your touch. It was said that I was about 5 years old when I came into rescue. My teeth were so bad that it was rrally hard to tell. Unfortunately my foster recently noticed that I was coughing and took me back in for a other exam. The vet found a slight heart murmur this time and I am currently on medication for this.

Read more about Mimi

I am doing great and my cough has disappeared. I will be on this for the rest of my life. Otherwise I am a very happy and energetic girl. I get along well with all dogs and cats. I would do best with no children as it take me a while just to warm up to adults. I would like an older quieter family with a fenced in yard so I cam go outside to potty and run and play. I need someone who is going to be patient and allow me to trust them so they can spoil me like I deserve to be. Please consider giving me a life like I have never had and apply for me at www.allmuttsmatter.org.

We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you!

Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes.

Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here, you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site.

Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. Then, they will set an appointment with you to come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take Rover (or Spot, or Jax) home with you that very day.

A couple of things you should know:

We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email.
Adoption fees vary based on breed.
All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed).
We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters.

Through no fault of her own, Flippers has found herself back with us and searching for a new family to love.To our surprise, Flippers is still very much a puppy at heart! She's matured in all the right ways and has gained some manners along the way, but she still has plenty of playful energy and enthusiasm for life. She recently spent time with our behaviorist, where she did very well and showed just how smart and adaptable she can be.Flippers has lived successfully with a small dog and enjoys canine companionship. She has also lived with younger children and did not show any issues. Cats, however, are a little too exciting for Flippers, so she is looking for a cat-free home. Because she's an active, athletic girl who loves to explore, she will require a home with a secure 6-foot fenced yard.Flippers has already overcome so much in her life, and through it all she has remained the happy, resilient dog we fell in love with from the beginning. Now all she needs is another chance at the forever home she deserves.Could Flippers be the missing piece in your family? Come meet this unforgettable girl and see why so many people have been rooting for her since day one. Flipper's adoption fee is $125, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. 20. Boulderface

Young · Male · American Bulldog · 24 mi from Townsend

In honor of Pit Bull Awareness Month, my adoption fee is WAIVED for the entire month of October! ❤Meet Boulderface, a 1-year-old XXL Bully mix with a head as big as his heart. This goofy guy came to us as a stray, so we don't know much about his past, but what we do know is that he's packed full of love, muscle, and personality.Boulderface may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he makes up for it with endless affection and an adorable "big doofus" charm. He absolutely loves people and believes personal space is optional. In fact, he's one of the biggest leaners you'll ever meet. If you're standing nearby, expect a giant bully-sized shadow pressed against your side.

If you move, he's probably coming with you.Still very much a puppy at heart, Boulderface is learning the ropes. He already knows how to sit and usually comes when called, but he's still working on mastering those listening skills. With continued training, consistency, and patience, this lovable meathead is sure to keep making progress.Because of his size and strength, Boulderface is looking for a home with children over 8 years old who can comfortably handle a big, happy dog. He may enjoy a canine companion who can match his playful energy, but any meet-and-greets with resident dogs are recommended. Cats are definitely not his thing. Boulderface doesn't always realize just how big he is, and a feline friend would not appreciate his enthusiastic approach to life. The ideal home for Boulderface is one with someone willing to provide structure, guidance, and plenty of love. He needs a person who can occasionally put their foot down when this oversized puppy forgets his manners. In return, you'll get a loyal best friend, a professional cuddle expert, and enough love to fill an entire room.If you're looking for a giant goofball with a heart of gold and a face you'll never forget, Boulderface might just be your perfect match. ❤️Boulderface's adoption fee is $175, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Adopting a dog in Townsend

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
