4. Lyssa
Young (2 years) · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Mixed · 6 mi from Tamarac

She was abandoned in a Miami parking lot that had a large population of stray cats, and she remained there for several weeks. Several local rescuers saw a Nextdoor post about her and stepped in to help. They were able to safely trap her that same night and reached out to us once she was secure — and of course we said yes.
We believe Lyssa is around 2 years old. She is a calm, gentle girl who rides well in the car. She doesn’t seem bothered by other dogs, though she has not been officially dog‑tested yet.

6. Roy
Adult (8 years 3 months) · Male · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 11 mi from Tamarac

Rex & Roy — Twice the Love, One Very Special Bond ❤️
Some dogs find their person.
Rex and Roy found each other.
These two sweet boys are a truly bonded pair, and after six months in our care, we can say with confidence that they are every bit as special as they look in their photos.
Rex
, a 4-year-old Pit mix, and
Roy
, an 8-year-old Husky mix, are affectionate, lovable companions who share an incredible friendship. They are happiest together, whether they’re relaxing side by side, enjoying attention, or simply keeping each other company.
Read more about Roy
Roy is the older, laid-back gentleman of the pair, while Rex brings a little younger energy to the partnership. Together, they balance each other beautifully.
They have become very loved members of the Everglades Angels family, but what they need now is something we cannot give them at the rescue:
a home and family of their own.
We know adopting two large dogs is a bigger commitment, but Rex and Roy come with something pretty wonderful — they already have a best friend built in. You won’t just be adopting two dogs. You’ll be giving two devoted friends the happy ending they have been waiting for.
After six months of waiting, we would love nothing more than to see these sweet boys walking out our doors
together, forever.
Adoption Requirement:
Rex & Roy must be adopted together.
If you have room in your home — and your heart — for two wonderful boys,
please give Rex and Roy a chance. They have waited long enough for someone to choose them

7. Melanie Rose
Senior (8 years 2 months) · Female · Pit Bull Terrier (short coat) · 11 mi from Tamarac

Melanie Rose was found abandoned at a church in Pembroke Pines, FL.
I am 8 years old, which means I have a lot of love stored up and I am very ready to give all of it to you. I love walks - genuinely, enthusiastically, every single time. I love stuffed animals and I take very good care of them. I love cuddles more than almost anything in the world and I am exceptionally good at them. I am told I am the biggest cuddle bug anyone here has ever met and I accept that title with full sincerity.

I am potty trained and great in the car and fine on my own when I need to be. I have done a lot of hard things and I have handled all of them with more grace than anyone had a right to expect.
All I need now is you. A patient home. A soft couch. Someone who understands that 8 years old is not too old - it is just the right age to finally get everything I deserve.

8. Morgan
Young (8 months) · Female · Terrier (short coat) · 11 mi from Tamarac

How do you find a 5-month-old puppy wandering around with a rope tied around his neck? Sadly, someone did.
Thankfully, they stopped, picked him up, and brought her to us at Everglades Angels Dog Rescue.
Meet Morgan. She is just a baby with her whole life ahead of her. Instead of being safe, loved, and cared for, she was left to fend for herself. We may never know her story, but we do know how her next chapter will go.
Morgan is now safe.
Morgan is a wonderful and playful pup that has a tail wag for everyone and kisses galore!
Adopting a large dog in Tamarac
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
