15. Midgie
Midgie needs an active family with lots of outdoor time; hiking, running, swimming, or playing soccer. She loves them all!
If you don’t like a dog that wants to be in your lap, wrap her ‘arms’ arms around you tightly, and give you kisses… then Midgie isn’t for you. If you want that kind of love from a dog, then please keep reading.
Read more about Midgie
Miss Midgie is a super loving and energetic girl. She’s a total “people dog” and is great with kids. It seems like she could get by in life with just two things… a person to hug and kiss, and her herding ball. This girl’s got energy, but is fine entertaining herself with her beloved herding ball for hours. She’s good with other dogs that are not aggressive – she’s up for making new friends, but wont back down if another dog is not so nice to her.
Midgie is GREAT on a leash (no work went into this on her foster family’s part – all her nature). Midgie’s perfect forever family is one that will take her for walks and have a fenced yard (or keep an close eye on her if she’s off leash in the yard) – her youthful curiosity and ability to jump higher than the bionic woman mean that she sometimes makes her own decision to go exploring if left unattended. Again – a higher fence, zip line, or dog run (along with her beloved herding ball) have worked wonders to keep her safe while we’ve fostered her.
This smart and loving girl wants to be at the top of your consideration list - in return, she’ll be your best friend for life!

16. Norma Jean
Norma Jean: Tennis-Ball-Loving Mix Seeking Foster or Forever Home
Meet Norma Jean, a playful, sweet 1.5-year-old who will happily chase a tennis ball for as long as you'll throw it! At just 28 pounds, she's a compact bundle of energy who knows how to switch off: give her some exercise and she'll happily chill out while you work.
See Video of Cute Lil' Norma Jean Exploring
The Basics:
1.5 years old, 28 lbs, possibly a Beagle/Corgi mix
Housebroken and crate-trained
Great at the vet and loves meeting people outside
Very intelligent and responds well to training
Read more about Norma Jean
Her Personality:
Norma Jean is an affectionate girl who loves her people of all ages. She’s also a devoted, watchful companion who takes her role at home seriously. She's protective of her home and when strangers arrive, she can be cautious about welcoming them inside and bark. She’s been working with a trainer to learn that, as a little dog, she doesn’t have to be the big boss, and she’s making great progress. She does great when meeting people outside. Her new family will need to keep up that training.
With Other Dogs:
Norma Jean enjoys being around other dogs. She likes to meet dogs and take a short walk outside before being thrown in the backyard with them. She has a confident personality and knows her boundaries, so she’s best matched with playful, easygoing dogs whose personalities complement hers—or dogs who are happy to give her space. She responds well to cues from other dogs and has lived with dogs ranging in size from 8-80 pounds. Like many dogs, she prefers to eat separately so she can eat at her own pace. She has shown no resource guarding with humans.
Her Ideal Home:
A home with teens and adults, where everyone can be mindful of doors and entrances
A calm, consistent family committed to continuing her training
Daily exercise, playtime, and plenty of tennis-ball adventures!
Norma Jean needs a foster or adopter as soon as possible. She has so much love and personality to share. She’s looking for a foster or forever home where she can continue her training, enjoy her favorite activities, and be loved for the amazing dog she is.

Please ask the pet’s current caretaker directly about their return process, and request an adoption contract. While we can’t offer immediate intake for dogs that need to be returned, we’re always happy to help a family rehome a pet while they continue to care for it. 20. Joe
Joe just showed up at a family's home and stayed. After attempts to find the owner failed, it was clear he was dumped.
He’s very sweet and easy going but still a very strong dominant type dog. We would prefer someone with experience with this breed but will consider if they’ll sign up for training. Amazingly smart and dedicated dogs as long as well socialized and time is spent with them.
We're saying only older, sturdy kids because he is so large and strong.
Age: 9 months
Weight: 68 lbs
Temperament: Gets along with cats, dogs and older sturdy kids
Training: needs basic training
Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative

23. Nova
Nova is a 1 year old female Pit mix with beautiful brindle coloring and a joyful, friendly personality that will keep you smiling! This lovely girl has a fun, playful side as well as a wonderful loving nature to share with her lucky family. Nova enjoys stretching her legs with a few zoomies when she first gets into the park, and she loves running alongside the fence to say hello to dogs in nearby play areas. But as much as she enjoys her playtime, being with her favorite people is what makes Nova happiest! Just look at those adoring eyes she gives you, and you'll understand why she is SO easy to love. At around 40 pounds, Nova is a nice, svelte size … and if you're looking for a lap dog, she's more than happy to audition for the job! While she can sometimes be a bit jumpy in her enthusiastic greetings with people, she already knows her Sit command and is learning to greet her human friends more politely. Plus Nova is eager to please, and would love to keep learning with her forever family. One thing to note is that this agile girl can climb a chain link fence … she only tries it when left alone, all so that she can get to her favorite human or doggie friends. This super affectionate, fun-loving girl has so much potential and so much love to give. She's ready to trade shelter life for family adventures, cozy snuggles, and a place to finally call home. Why adopt an adult dog in Columbus
An adult dog's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are already house-trained.
Grown dogs need less supervision than puppies and often know the basics, like sitting and walking on a leash, which suits people who work or have young children.
