Doggie Harmony: 23 Dogs and Puppies for Adoption
By Dogs of the Day · Updated

Doggie Harmony in Atlanta, GA has 23 dogs and puppies up for adoption. Here are all 23, each with photos, their story and how to get in touch.
Right now that's 13 young dogs, 9 adults and 1 senior.
1. Midgie
Young (3 years 5 months) · Female · Terrier / Boxer / Mixed (short coat)

Midgie needs an active family with lots of outdoor time; hiking, running, swimming, or playing soccer. She loves them all!
If you don’t like a dog that wants to be in your lap, wrap her ‘arms’ arms around you tightly, and give you kisses… then Midgie isn’t for you. If you want that kind of love from a dog, then please keep reading.
Read more about Midgie
Miss Midgie is a super loving and energetic girl. She’s a total “people dog” and is great with kids. It seems like she could get by in life with just two things… a person to hug and kiss, and her herding ball. This girl’s got energy, but is fine entertaining herself with her beloved herding ball for hours. She’s good with other dogs that are not aggressive – she’s up for making new friends, but wont back down if another dog is not so nice to her.
Midgie is GREAT on a leash (no work went into this on her foster family’s part – all her nature). Midgie’s perfect forever family is one that will take her for walks and have a fenced yard (or keep an close eye on her if she’s off leash in the yard) – her youthful curiosity and ability to jump higher than the bionic woman mean that she sometimes makes her own decision to go exploring if left unattended. Again – a higher fence, zip line, or dog run (along with her beloved herding ball) have worked wonders to keep her safe while we’ve fostered her.
This smart and loving girl wants to be at the top of your consideration list - in return, she’ll be your best friend for life!

2. Norma Jean
Young (1 year 5 months) · Female · Beagle / Corgi / Mixed (short coat)

Norma Jean: Tennis-Ball-Loving Mix Seeking Foster or Forever Home
Meet Norma Jean, a playful, sweet 1.5-year-old who will happily chase a tennis ball for as long as you'll throw it! At just 28 pounds, she's a compact bundle of energy who knows how to switch off: give her some exercise and she'll happily chill out while you work.
See Video of Cute Lil' Norma Jean Exploring
The Basics:
1.5 years old, 28 lbs, possibly a Beagle/Corgi mix
Housebroken and crate-trained
Great at the vet and loves meeting people outside
Very intelligent and responds well to training
Read more about Norma Jean
Her Personality:
Norma Jean is an affectionate girl who loves her people of all ages. She’s also a devoted, watchful companion who takes her role at home seriously. She's protective of her home and when strangers arrive, she can be cautious about welcoming them inside and bark. She’s been working with a trainer to learn that, as a little dog, she doesn’t have to be the big boss, and she’s making great progress. She does great when meeting people outside. Her new family will need to keep up that training.
With Other Dogs:
Norma Jean enjoys being around other dogs. She likes to meet dogs and take a short walk outside before being thrown in the backyard with them. She has a confident personality and knows her boundaries, so she’s best matched with playful, easygoing dogs whose personalities complement hers—or dogs who are happy to give her space. She responds well to cues from other dogs and has lived with dogs ranging in size from 8-80 pounds. Like many dogs, she prefers to eat separately so she can eat at her own pace. She has shown no resource guarding with humans.
Her Ideal Home:
A home with teens and adults, where everyone can be mindful of doors and entrances
A calm, consistent family committed to continuing her training
Daily exercise, playtime, and plenty of tennis-ball adventures!
Norma Jean needs a foster or adopter as soon as possible. She has so much love and personality to share. She’s looking for a foster or forever home where she can continue her training, enjoy her favorite activities, and be loved for the amazing dog she is.

What she needs: Penelope is an anxious girl, and she takes daily anxiety medication. If someone approaches or tries to catch her too quickly, she may bark or nip out of fear. Let her come to you, and she will. She does not do well crated (she’ll cry for hours) but doesn’t need to be. She does best with someone home much of the day who can give her plenty of attention.
Other pets: She’s best as the only dog, or with a carefully matched, easygoing companion. She does well with confident cats but may chase a fearful one.
Best fit: a patient adult or retiree, a calm and consistent home, older respectful kids at most.
Penelope has been through several homes, and her current foster isn’t a long-term option. She needs her forever person soon.

Young (1 year) · Female · Dachshund / Beagle / Mixed (short coat)

Bella is incredibly sweet with her humans, is a couch potato, although she does have short burst of funny playing. She loves nothing more than to snuggle. She is funny and loving.

Adult (6 years 4 months) · Female · Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat)

Spooks is truly one of the best dogs I've ever met. She is highly intelligent, intensely loyal, and forms incredibly strong bonds with her people. She thrives on one-on-one time, structure, and engagement.
Spooks would be an exceptional companion for someone who can match her energy and provide focused attention. Because of her size and energy, returning to a shelter kennel would be incredibly stressful for her. We are looking for a foster or an adopter.

18. Trudy
Young · Female · Hound / Rhodesian Ridgeback / Mixed

Trudy is 9 years old, and she'd like a word with whoever decided that means slowing down. She'll check the whole yard before she checks you — over the rocks, into the leaves, all business — and she'll circle back on her own schedule. Sit down and give her a few minutes and she comes in, and then she's in your lap and won't get out of it. That's the deal with her: she decides, and once she's decided, she's yours.
At a sleek 50-ish pounds, Trudy co-exists peacefully with dogs and cats. What she wants is someone unhurried, a quick potty and security check yard, then a couch buddy to unwind with at the end of her day.

19. Andrielle
Adult (6 years 2 months) · Female · Plott Hound / Carolina Dog / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Andrielle
Your Easygoing, Dog-Loving Best Friend
Andrielle is the kind of dog who makes life easy. At 6 years old and 40 pounds, this sweet girl has a calm, medium-energy personality and a wonderful ability to go with the flow.
She adores other dogs and has lived happily with multiple foster dogs. She also regularly enjoyed shelter playgroup and is great at matching her play style to her canine friends. A doggy sibling would be a wonderful bonus for her!
Read more about Andrielle
Andrielle has also been friendly with children under 10. She loves cuddling with her people but is equally happy entertaining herself when you’re busy. She listens well, knows come, sit, down, and off, is housetrained, and walks nicely on leash.
She does have some mild-to-moderate food or environmental allergies that can make her itchy, but they don't seem to slow her down or affect her happy-go-lucky personality.
Andrielle is spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines. Breed is our best guess, but we’re certain about one thing: she’s 100% good girl.

Young · Male · American Bulldog / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Tru lives indoors and sleeps in his own bed. He goes outside in a fenced in yard but would be fine living in an apartment with occasional walks. 22. Bruno
Young (4 years 2 months) · Male · Labrador Retriever / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat)

Bruno currently lives in Warner Robins, GA but for a good applicant, we will come to meet you.
Bruno is an incredibly loyal and intelligent companion. He has lived with another dog and cats before, no issues.
Bruno is very well behaved and calm. He only requests no toddlers because they don't understand when he asks them to leave him alone. Older, respectful kids are great.
He has anxiety about fireworks and thunderstorms but calming chews seem to help.

23. Oreo
Adult (6 years 2 months) · Female · Dalmatian / Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Oreo's owner has had her for 5 wonderful years but then the family had a baby and the baby became a toddler and it has all been too much for Oreo, too much unbounded kid, not enough space.
She loves to cuddle, loves attention and being petted. She will let you know if you start to slack off petting her.

She would love an active family with older respectful kids. She loves to play fetch and to run. Her trainer suggested agility training as she is incredibly fast and agile. We think she would thrive on the challenge of a course and competition. But even if she just went running and hiking with you, she would be an excellent companion who would keep you both motivated.
She can be OK with other dogs, as long as they are at least medium to large size, not small ones.
Age: 6 years
Weight: 37 lbs
Temperament: Gets along with dogs her size and larger, all adults and older respectfule kid, no toddlers
Training: Housetrained
Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative
