1. Fred

2 Years · Male · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed · 16 mi from Lakeview Estates

Fred is one of those dogs that looks into your eyes and just gets you. When we took him from the shelter, he knew he couldn't go back. He is sweet, not overly hyper, and thinks of himself as more of a human than a dog. While he lives at a doggy daycare, he would be happiest in a home that he got to be the number one guy in the group ;) If you are interested, please apply at https://savecares.com/adoption-application/

Read more about Daisy Good Dog

Daisy's story began on Cleveland Avenue, where she was abandoned and left to fend for herself. Kind-hearted people rescued her and hoped her owner might come looking, so she was taken to Fulton County Animal Services. No one ever came.

She was then welcomed into a foster home where life was finally looking up...until her foster had to move. Heartbreakingly, Daisy ended up back at Fulton County. This time, she was housed with several other dogs, where she was attacked, leaving her bitten, bruised, and suffering. SHE IS ALL WELL NOW!

Thankfully, the very person who had originally rescued Daisy had been keeping an eye on her. When they discovered what had happened, they rushed to save her once again. Now, A Welcome Home Animal Rescue has welcomed Daisy into the program, and she's finally safe.

Why Everyone Loves Daisy

❤️ Sweet, gentle, and incredibly affectionate
Gets along with dogs
Cat friendly
Loves children!!!!
Friendly with everyone she meets!
️ Calm, easygoing, and well-mannered
Smart and eager to please
So grateful for every act of kindness

After everything she's endured, Daisy hasn't become bitter. She simply wants someone to love...and she'll spend the rest of her life showing you just how thankful she is.

She's fully vetted, healthy, and ready to leave her difficult past behind forever.

A home with a fenced yard would be wonderful, but what Daisy truly wants is a family who will love her as much as she'll love them.

Don't let this Daisy wilt waiting for her forever family.

The worse happened ....as she is now in DeKalb County. uuug. LUNA
, a super sweet, pretty hound/pit bull mix, a gentle girl (easy TO keep) was a special project of our rescue. We worked hard over three months to help the elderly man and his family find a new place for Luna.

Needs a DeKalb Foster or Forever Home. Sweet dog, always a family dog,

She is gentle, sweet, gentle, always a sweet pensive "want to please" look on her sweet face, bonds quickly, takes treats gently, and not a dog to jump on you. She lived with older dog. Likes to Ride int the car and BONED to her sweet older owner who has to give her up.

The elderly owner in his eighties owner (grandfather with family in home) had been looking for months, contacting all rescues and shelters, for a new home for Luna because there is not room, and saddened but finally took her DeKalb AS, where Luna will eventually be euthanized.

POSITIVE: She is a great with small kids. She is housetrained, walks well on a leash, listens, looks lovingly in your eyes, (Rescue saw that in person). She is Not large at 50 pounds, so easy to KEEP! Timid and sweet, gentle.

4. Harper

Puppy (4 months 10 days) · Female · Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Harper, Henry and Harley are 15-week-old puppies that are terrier mixes. Their current weights are about 10 lbs. and are expected to reach 15-20 lbs. in adulthood. These pups are still just babies that love to have fun running and playing with the other dogs in their foster home. They are high energy youngsters and would love to have a fenced yard and a playmate to use up some of that puppy energy. The puppies enjoy playing with the larger adult dogs in their foster home. They try to be playful with the foster family cat when they have an opportunity. These pups love to be lap dogs after they burn off their energy playing together. They are very smart and are doing great with their house-training, but they will still need more attention in a home of their own to complete their training. Overall, these puppies are adorable and very lovable dogs who love to play with someone and snuggle up in your arms. 6. Stoney

Adult (2 years 11 months) · Male · Rat Terrier (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Found as a stray in Georgia, 3-year-old Stoney's past is a bit of a mystery, but one thing is for certain: he is a gentle, sweet soul who is ready to give and receive all the love in the world.

Read more about Stoney

Stoney doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He adores human attention and wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. Unlike many typical vocal terriers, Stoney is remarkably quiet! He rarely barks, only occasionally letting out a few woofs at something outside the fence. He gets along with dogs his own size (he weighs nearly 11 lbs.) but does not play with them other than an occasional short game of chase in the yard. Larger dogs make him feel a bit intimidated, so he does best with canine pals near his size. He has not been cat-tested yet.

Stoney's house-training is coming along well. He is still learning his routine and has the occasional accident—mainly first thing in the morning—so a patient adopter who can keep him on a steady schedule will help him cross the finish line. Coming from a stray life, household and outdoor sounds can be overwhelming for him. Loud appliances like vacuum cleaners or hair dryers or even quieter sounds like dinner cooking on the stove can send him cowering into a corner. However, the longer he resides in a home environment and realizes he's safe, the more his confidence is improving. At night, he sleeps quietly in his crate in his foster parent's bedroom, not making a peep until the humans are ready to rise and shine!

Stoney walks nicely on a leash, but if he encounters strange people, unfamiliar dogs, moving cars, or sudden noises, his instinct is to "freeze." Once the perceived danger passes, he resumes walking. He walks right along on quiet nature trails or open fields where he can sniff and explore without the hustle and bustle of traffic, humans, or other dogs.

Because Stoney is so sensitive to noises, he is looking for a gentle, predictable environment in a quiet suburban neighborhood or rural setting with a fenced area for him to feel secure. His ideal home is adult-only (or one with older, calm teenagers) with a parent or parents who are home much of the time to continue building his confidence. Fast-moving, noisy young children would be too overwhelming for him.

Stoney needs an adopter who understands that shy dogs take a little time to bloom. With patience, gentle encouragement, and a safe space, Stoney will prove to be the most loyal, loving companion you could ever ask for. Is Stoney the gentle buddy you've been searching for? See more photos of Stoney at www.imageevent.com/newrattitude/stoney , then apply to adopt him today!

8. Hannah

Puppy (3 months 28 days) · Female · Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Hannah is a four-month-old rat terrier mix, sibling to Hayden, Henry, Harley, and Harper. She currently weighs about 10 lbs. and is expected to reach 15-20 lbs. in adulthood.

Hannah is a full-on puppy in all the best ways: high energy, inquisitive, and always looking for her next adventure (or her next favorite chew toy!). Like many young pups, she can still be a little nervous when meeting new people for the first time. Once she knows she's safe, her sweet, affectionate side comes right out. After a fun round of puppy antics, she loves nothing more than curling up close for a long cuddle.

Hannah's wishlist for her forever family:

Read more about Hannah

A playmate: Hannah is accustomed to having a furry companion to play, wrestle, and snuggle with. Ideally, her forever home will have another friendly, playful dog to be her companion and teach her good doggy manners.

Big kids only: To prevent accidental drops or trips—and to manage normal puppy mouthiness/nipping—she needs a home without young children.

Training and routine: Hannah is not yet house-trained, but she is making great progress when taken out frequently. Plus, she's already a superstar at night and sleeps quietly in her crate all night long!

Hannah is ready to bring energy, warmth, and lots of puppy love to her new home! If you're looking for a new addition to your family and prepared to do a little bit of work for a huge return, apply to adopt today!

9. Hayden

Puppy (4 months 1 day) · Female · Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Hayden is a four-month-old rat terrier mix, sibling to Hannah, Henry, Harley, and Harper. She currently weighs about 10 lbs. and is expected to reach 15-20 lbs in adulthood. This long-legged girl is a funny, high-energy puppy with legs made for leaping—and yes, she can jump very high!

Read more about Hayden

Hayden is a classic pup: mischievous, endlessly curious, and currently under the impression that the whole world was made for her to chew on. But what truly sets Hayden apart is her comedic timing. When she gets caught in puppy mischief, she immediately pops into a perfect, polite "sit" and hits you with the ultimate sweet "Who, me? I was just sitting here being an angel!" look. She can be a bit nervous when meeting new people at first, but once she warms up and burns off her zoomies, she turns into a total sweetheart who loves to cuddle.

Her foster mom has been working on her crate-training and house-training, but she is a baby so she still has a ways to go.

Hayden's wish list for her forever home:

- A friend to play with: Having a playful canine sibling is ideal to help teach her manners, burn off energy, and give her a cozy buddy to cuddle with.

- Patient humans who are around more often than not: She is not yet house trained, though she is doing very well when let out frequently on a consistent schedule. She needs potty breaks every few hours, so she would not be happy left alone 8+ hours a day.

- Big kids only: Due to her small size and typical puppy nipping habits, a home without young children is required to keep both Hayden and the kids safe from accidental drops or sharp puppy teeth.

11. Nathan

Adult (4 years) · Male · Rat Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Say hello to Nathan! He's a 4-year-old rat terrier/Dachshund mix who found himself wandering alone in rural Virginia. Some kind animal control folks picked him up and he ended up with New Rattitude. Nathan is being fostered in a boarding, daycare, and training facility (with access to a room just for the little dogs).

When given his space, Nathan is a comical, friendly, happy boy. He will throw balls for himself, even sometimes picking them up in his front legs to toss. He enjoys chew bones and can entertain himself for long periods of time.

Read more about Nathan

He's cute as a button too, with a rat terrier head and Dachshund body. He's named after the hotdogs since he looks like a little sausage. At 17 lbs,, Nathan is capable and scrappy. He walks on a leash and enjoys running in the fenced yards. He learned the dog door quickly, and since getting neutered, has not had accidents in the house. We recommend treating Nathan like a puppy when you first get him home and take him out frequently.

Nathan needs his space, and isn't thrilled when other dogs try to take his things. Nathan is not a good fit for a home with larger dogs as he is grumpy about his space, food, and toys, and will start things he cannot finish with bigger dogs. Nathan can be a little snippy with people and his toys as well. He has learned "Give" and "Leave it" while in his foster home, and will do so when a grown up tells him. However, small children are probably not going to enjoy time with him. If they try to take Nathan's things, he will show them the error of their ways.

If you are looking for a cute, smart, funny dog and don't have lots of other animals or kids in your home, Nathan just might be your guy!

12. Toefoo

Adult (3 years 11 months) · Female · Rat Terrier (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Meet Toefoo! She's a 4-year-old purebred rat terrier who found herself in New Rattitude's care after she decided the other dog in her home was not welcome. Toefoo came to us VERY obese. While in her foster home, she has had controlled meals and lots of outside time with exercise. She has already lost several pounds and feels so much better for it. She is now 22 lbs., but is hoping to get to under 20 lbs.

Read more about Toefoo

Toefoo gets along fine with the dogs in her foster home, and there are a lot of them. She is being fostered at a boarding, daycare, and training facility and every day brings a new group of friends. She is crate-trained, and has her meals in her crate. She sleeps in her crate overnight, but would be fine sleeping with you, or in a dog bed once she is adopted.

Toefoo is house-trained and has mastered the dog door quickly. She goes in and out throughout the day to do her business. When she first got to her foster home she was not leash trained. With persistence and patience she has learned that the leash is not a bad thing and that she gets to go with her people if she has it on.

We don't think Toefoo was out in the world much before coming to her foster home. If you want her to take long walks and visit places with you, you will need to give her time to learn about being out and about. She gets spooked and will try to run away, but once she knows you've got her back, she settles down.

Toefoo is very affectionate with the people she knows and is super happy to see you. She's got a full-body wag and big smile. Could she be your newest family member? More images of Toefoo are available in her album: https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/toefoo

13. Ellie

Adult (11 years 11 months) · Female · Rat Terrier (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Do you have room in your heart for a lovebug who deserves a second chance at happiness? 12 year-old Ellie came from an owner surrender when her main caretaker died suddenly and his spouse was not able to care for her. Ellie is quite lean and muscular at 15 lbs., and is fit and active! She has come such a long way since coming into her foster home -- she was not used to living with other dogs and she now joyfully zooms around the backyard with her foster siblings, even keeping pace with the youngest 1-year-old pup!

Read more about Ellie

Ellie is a good watchdog, but sometimes has to be reminded to stop barking. She is house-trained when kept on a schedule. Since life has been hard for Ellie, she craves attention and is looking for a home with someone who is retired or works from home, and perhaps a canine companion too! She can be an escape artist and will need a very secure fenced yard. Ellie is very sweet and loving and really deserves a comfy home and steady companionship. 14. Poppy

Adult (2 years) · Female · Rat Terrier (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Hello, my name is Poppy. I weigh around 18 lbs., and my foster family thinks I am only 1-2 years old! When I first got to my foster home, I was afraid of many things and very shy, but I am learning that life is not so scary. My foster family has many words to describe me: goofy, playful, enthusiastic, loving, snuggly, and very sweet. And did I mention I'm house-trained? I also sleep quietly in my crate at night, although I would love sleeping in bed with my humans just as much.

Read more about Poppy

I am still not comfortable walking on a leash, and I startle at loud noises, so my forever home will need a fenced yard so I can show off my house-training. I would also love another confident younger dog to help me continue learning to be my best self. I am learning to keep all four paws on the ground when I get excited, which means I probably shouldn't go to a family with small children – I might knock them over with my long legs.

My foster family is so proud of me for the progress I have made, and I am looking forward to a forever family who can be patient with my training! In the meantime, I am perfectly Poppy. You can see more of my photos at this link:

15. Fontina

Adult (2 years 11 months) · Female · Rat Terrier / Boston Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

This quiet, gentle, mild-mannered girl is Fontina, a 3-year-old, 19 lb. sweetheart. Fontina is at ease meeting new people and new dogs, but she is apprehensive about new environments and sudden, unexpected noises, preferring to keep her distance a bit before determining that there is no danger. She very much likes going for walks and is confident on leash, but otherwise has just moderate energy, enjoying frequent naps in safe locations -- like under a bed or in the foot-well of a desk. She will closely follow "her" people around the house, often quite close at foot, but she isn't otherwise clingy or demanding. She gets most animated when you sit on a sofa and invite her up... then she is all about cuddling, presenting her belly for rubs, and playing a bit of "hand" with her mouth -- but if you don't want to play "hand," she is extremely responsive to a simple verbal "uh-uh".

Read more about Fontina

Fontina is reliably house-trained (she will go right to the door when you say "Let's go outside" and then promptly do her business), assuming she is given adequate outdoor opportunity. She doesn't like being in a crate (possibly because it signifies a car ride, and she does sometimes get car sick) but when she is required to be in a crate, she accepts it quietly and calmly. Based on physical characteristics and temperament, we believe that Fontina is a rat terrier/Boston Terrier mix. Check out more pictures and details about her at

16. Daisy

Adult (5 years) · Female · Rat Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Pretty Daisy is a 5-year-old, 10 lb. Chihuahua/rat terrier mix who was rescued from a Georgia shelter after her owner passed away. She's a tiny, delicate, 100% good girl with a sweet nature, a growing sense of adventure, and some very definite opinions about how life should be lived.

Read more about Daisy

At home, Daisy loves being close to her foster mom and foster brother, burrowing under blankets for naps, finding a sunny spot to lounge in, and enjoying what she believes should be an endless supply of food and treats. She also has a playful side and loves soft, fluffy toys that she can fling around, chase, and play fetch with. Daisy is house-trained as long as she's given regular opportunities to go outside.

Daisy has become much more excited about walks and outings as she's settled into foster life. She loves exploring and sniffing everything along the way—the flowers, the grass, that particularly interesting spot on the sidewalk. She's also always happy to stop for pets from people and say hello to furry friends along the way. Any potential adopters should know: this is Daisy's world, and we are just living in it!

Daisy would love a canine companion close to her size and temperament. Because she's such a little, delicate dog and has shown some mild resource guarding with her foster brother, she'd do best in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children. Her dream household would include someone who is home much of the day or, even better, is happy to let Daisy tag along wherever they go.

Basically, Daisy is looking for a warm lap, cozy blankets, toys and snacks, a little fur buddy, and someone who lets her be the queen of the castle.

17. Max

Adult (8 years 3 months) · Male · Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeview Estates

Max is a sweet 8 year-old, 20 lb. male rat terrier mix who has a calm temperament and personality. He can be a little shy at first but once he is comfortable he is more than ready sit with you and give you kisses. He wants to be where his people are and loves to get attention.

He recently learned that he likes getting his paws wet at the beach and going evening golf cart rides!

Read more about Max

Max gets along with other dogs and with the 2 cats in his foster home. He would do best in a home with adults and older children -- he is not up for the challenge of living with young humans. He is potty trained and walks well on a leash. Once he is done outside he is ready to come back inside and be a couch potato. Max is crate trained but can be left loose in the house.

Max had surgery on his left hip to have cancer removed. A biopsy reported no cancer in the remaining tissue and a 90% probability he is cancer free. With that being said he has weakness in his back end which causes him to be a little slow going up and down stairs but outside he does fine. The vet thinks he may have spinal nerve damage that cannot be repaired.

Max struggles with incontinence -- in the morning, he sprinkles urine and drops feces while walking. He has no control over this and does not realize it is happening. Sadly, the vet does not believe this can be cured, only managed with pads and diapering.

If you have a special spot in your heart for a dog like Max he would love to show you what a special boy he is. For more photos, see https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/max

She hasn't tried to play with the other pups in her foster home, enjoys being around and cuddling them. She's very passive and tries to avoid conflict with other dogs and is well-behaved and quiet. She has lived with a cats before and gets along with them. Though house-trained, Nixie may need a bit of coaxing to go outside for potty if it's raining or cold. If she's on a leash, she goes right outside and does her business no problem. She's in excellent health and has even recently had a dental cleaning!

Adopting a dog in Lakeview Estates

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
