21. Abbs
Adult · Female · Labrador Retriever / Terrier / Mixed · 80 mi from Indianapolis

I'm a sweet energetic gal. House broken, crate trained, good with kids and other dogs. My parents took in some long term guests into the home, with the crowding and delicate nature of some of the new residents, I had to start spending a lot more time in the yard. I get bored sometimes and get into trouble in the yard. They said I am good in the house though, so they let me have run of the house while they are at work. I'm really hoping that I can find a new family to love me and let me be a central part of the family again. If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting this baby, please fill out an application.

Hi, I’m Pup Cup , AKA Puppiccino!
Read more about Pup Cup
I’m a 1 year old husky mix (we think) who almost never barks (just the occasional happy yodel). I love every person, kid, and dog I meet… and I really love being right next to you. The photos don’t lie — I park myself as close as I can get.
I’m crate trained and fully potty trained, but my favorite place to sleep is still near my people. Pro tip: if you hear the ice machine, watch me come running. Ice cubes are my love language.
Looking for my forever people who want a great walking/hiking partner, but also a snuggly girl who will follow them from room to room. Come meet me? I already want to sit on your feet.

My name is Fenwick, and my favorite letter is F! I’m a friendly, fun-loving, 1-year-old Beagle mix with a fondness for meeting new people and making furry friends. I weigh in at 26 fine pounds, and I’m still filling out a little!
Unlike some of my fellow Beagles, I’ve decided that being quiet is better than barking fervently. I’m more of a tail-wagging, face-licking, friendship-making kind of fellow!
Read more about Fenwick
You can find me exploring and wagging my tail nearly every day! Take me to the forest, let me frolic through some flowers, bring me along to festivals, visit a friend’s house, or take me to the Farmer’s Market. I’m always up for a little fun! I’m great in the car and fairly fluent in following along on my leash.
And the crate? Well, food has quickly taught me that it’s a safe and comfortable space. Give me a fine little morsel, and I’ll happily head right in! I’m also house-trained and already know how to follow a few important instructions, like “sit.”
If you’re looking for a friendly, fun-loving companion to fill your family with furry friendship, please consider meeting me! I come FULLY VETTED and absolutely full of love.
I can’t wait to find my forever family! ❤️

This boy LOVES rolling around on his back, showing off his belly, and getting belly rubs. He will happily roll around on the couch and has even managed to roll right off of it!Hendrix does well with other dogs and mostly just ignores them.

He’s a picky eater and prefers his wet food mixed in with his dry food. Thank you so much for considering a rescued pet as your next family member! People like you extending your faith in second hand pets is what makes our rescue go round. We want you to know that your time is very valuable to us and we want our entire process to be done in good faith. We need you to be honest with us and we will be honest with you. Any deception found during the application process will be grounds for denial. Requirements: We understand how important your time is and how emotional adding a new pet to the family can be. We are an all volunteer rescue with no paid staff, so we are going to do our best to help you know from the get go if your home environment will be a harmonious fit for what we are looking for in our new adoptive parents. How to adopt from Adopt A Pit Rescue Inc
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.

Adopting a dog in Indianapolis
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
