Brulee (female)

Intake date: 10/24/2026

Cairn Terrier

7 years old

Intake weight: 13.8 pounds

Adoption fee: $200, which includes vetting, microchip

Good with other dogs: yes

Cats: yes, she lived in a home with several cats, including ducks and chickens as well

Read more about Brulee

Vetting and other: altered (spayed), dental performed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, fecal negative, on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped

Health issues: none observed.

Temperament: timid at first but once she warms up, she is very sweet and friendly - we've yet to hear her bark.

Energy level: low

Groom needs: medium maintenance; she's got wiry hair that just needs brushing from time to time, along with a bath.

Biography: Brulee came in with Queso. We were contacted by the out-of-state sister of a woman and her husband who were arrested (details will be given to an approved adopter once they are placed for adoption). It's kind of a long story how she ended up contacting us, but she thought one of the six dogs was adopted from us. Come to find out, that wasn't the case. We took in a stray in January, posted the dog on social media and the dog was reclaimed by the couple. So, the dog wasn't adopted from us, but reclaimed from us. When dogs are reclaimed, we have them sign a reclamation form and in that form it states that if they ever want to rehome the dog, to please contact us first. So, this is how we ended up involved. Nevertheless, the couple gave the sister permission to find places for all the dogs. We took in two, two went to a family friend and the other two went to another rescue.

We don't have much information about their habits. We do know they lived inside their home with several other dogs, cats, chickens and ducks (if you can imagine the scene). In any case, they are both very sweet and have acclimated nicely to our rescue environment, the people in and out and the other dogs. They should each acclimate quickly to a new home. Due to the chaotic environment they lived in, we'd prefer a quiet and peaceful home for each of them.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

*We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved. We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule.

*Most of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever! We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family! We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing and the dog is over 15 pounds. There is no exception to this rule!

*PREDATORS: IF THIS DOG IS UNDER 10 POUNDS, the dog is to be monitored and protected when outside at all times! PREDATOR-THREAT IS A REAL DANGER! For example, a hawk tried to pick up a Chihuahua owned by a friend visiting Ninna’s house… RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE VISITOR. Thankfully the visitor was watching the dog and the hawk was wrestled off of the Chihuahua but it did require an ER visit and she is was very lucky to survive. TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!

*NO SMALL CHILDREN!! As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL! Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents.

Health issues: none observed.

Temperament: a little shy at first, very sweet, social, friendly once comfy - great little temperament.

Energy level: medium

Groom needs: medium maintenance; requires occasional professional grooming, along with intermittent brushing to avoid matting

Biography: We took in thirteen dogs (10 dogs and 3 puppies) from animal control after they were seized due to neglect. They all had ear mites and fleas and none were spayed or neutered.

All the dogs are friendly. Some are shier than others. We don't believe they had a lot of handling because when we pick them up, they stiffen up... some more than others. They lived in individual pet carriers much of their life. We are thankful they are out of that situation and now can go on to lead happy, healthy lives with new families. Since we have so many that all pretty much look alike, we are posting them in batches. YOU MUST APPLY for a specific dog. Because these dogs will be popular, you can't just apply for "a Maltese". If you're approved and the one you applied for is reserved... we'll advise you which ones are left and you can choose from the remaining. Their personalities are virtually all the same. The only differences may be the weight and age... which are all very close as well.

Benefactor Dog: When we have a popular dog, we dub them a “Benefactor Dog”. A Benefactor Dog will have an above average adoption fee. In other words, for OTHER dogs where the adoption fee is minimal or waived due to age, health or some other reason (although we’ve likely spent hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars) a Benefactor dog will help us somewhat make up the shortfall. If this dog has an above-average adoption fee, she/he is a Benefactor Dog.

Groom needs: medium maintenance; will require a professional groom from time to time we believe.

Biography: PLEASE keep in mind your AGE! Despite what you may want, we want YOU to outlive the pup… not the other way around! Puppies or young dogs (especially small-breed) can live 15-20 years!

We were reached out to by a man who is having health issues and can no longer care for his sibling Pug/ Poodle mix pups. Bobble does great in a kennel if needed and walks pretty well on a leash. He is beyond precious! He is playful and fun and squishy and adorable and and and... we can't say enough about either one! If you think you needed a Pug / Poodle in your life, we welcome your application!

PUPPY LOWDOWN – READ IT!:

COMMITMENT: Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer). Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy! Bear in mind your AGE! While life is never guaranteed, we want the odds to be that YOU outlive the puppy, not the other way around. In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come.
