1. Sandy

Adult · Female · Shepherd / Mixed (short coat) · 76 mi from Wyoming

Meet Sandy a 6 year old 33 pound Shepard mix. Sandy was in a kill shelter in Texas with a injured leg, Project Hope pulled her and when we took her to the vet the x-ray showed she had been shot. Her leg had to be amputated. Sandy is all healed up and being a tripod doesn't slow her down. She loves to run around the yard and when time for a nap she will cuddle up on the couch.
Sandy is a little shy and takes a little time to get to know you, but after that she loves to be with you! She gets along with other dogs and would love a playmate. She gets along with cats, but might try to play with them.

Since she is shy older kids that are respectful is the best! A fenced in yard is required, Sandy is house-trained. She doesn't like to be crated, but if you put her in a crate she is quiet in it, but she is okay not being crated. Sandy is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed. 11. Rocky

Adult · Male · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 32 mi from Wyoming

Meet Rocky a 6-year-old Lab/Pit mix who is living proof that age is just a number when you are THIS EXCITED TO BE ALIVE. ❤️And before anyone says anything about his photos… we know. We tried. Rocky simply does not have time to stand still and pose when there are people to love, things to sniff, and approximately 47 reasons to wag his entire body. This guy wakes up every day absolutely THRILLED that the earth is still spinning and he gets to be here for it.Rocky is a super happy, high-energy guy who LOVES to play, especially fetch, and loves attention just as much. He knows sit and lay, is housebroken, and can be left home for a normal workday without destroying the place.

Read more about Rocky

He isn’t kennel trained, but he’s used to having free roam of the house. He has lived with kids before and did well with them, although with his energy and enthusiasm, kids who can handle his play style may be the best fit. He’s lived with another dog and has done well with cats, too, although he can play a little rough.Rocky does pull on leash and isn’t leash trained yet, so he’ll need someone strong enough to handle him and willing to work with him, otherwise he will be taking you for a walk. A fenced-in yard would be a HUGE plus so he can safely get those zoomies out. He can also be nervous in the car and may cry a little… presumably because sitting calmly while the world goes by is simply not Rocky’s brand. At 6 years old, Rocky may technically be a grown man, but nobody has informed Rocky of this. He’s goofy, energetic, affectionate, playful, and just so ridiculously happy to be on this earth that he can barely stand it.If you want a dog who will make you laugh, keep you moving, play fetch until your arm falls off, and greet life like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him… you need to meet Rocky. ❤️Interested in adopting? He’s making strides, building confidence, and discovering that life has so many beautiful things to offer when you have someone in your corner.Jed is the kind of dog who chooses his person, and when he does, that person becomes his WHOLE WORLD.

Read more about Jedidiah

13. Izzy

Senior · Female · Miniature Schnauzer / Mixed (long coat) · 22 mi from Wyoming

Visit Izzy in person on Saturday November 7 from 10 to 12 at the Holland PetSmart (12635 Felch St). No application needed - just show up and give her some love!

Izzy is a very special 13-year-old, 12 pound Miniature Schnauzer mix who has been through more than any senior dog should have to endure. Now, she’s ready for the part of her story she has always deserved: a quiet, loving home where she can be someone’s beloved companion.

Read more about Izzy

Izzy came to us after being removed from the home by animal control, where she had been living with an elderly owner and spending much of her later life confined to a crate. We can only imagine how confusing and frightening that must have been for her. But despite everything she has experienced, Izzy has shown us that she is a sweet girl who simply wants to feel safe and be close to her person.

She successfully battled a skin infection, and thankfully, she is healing, and her beautiful fur is growing back! As her skin continues to improve, we know she is going to be a very beautiful little dog. Tyson’s Place Animal Rescue will continue to support her veterinary care as she heals, so her adopter can focus on giving her the love and stability she deserves.

Izzy has limited vision due to age-related cataracts, but don’t let that fool you — her ears work wonderfully! She can hear her foster mom’s voice and will often follow the sound of the person she loves most. Izzy likes to be with her people whenever possible and is happiest simply knowing her person is nearby.

She also enjoys having a little canine friend around. Izzy does well with small dogs and cats, and she loves following the other small dog in her foster home out into the fenced yard. She enjoys exploring at her own pace, taking in all the interesting smells. She also walks on a leash, although her walks are less about going for miles and more about stopping to investigate every wonderful scent along the way.

After spending so much of her life confined to a crate, Izzy has made it clear that what she really wants now is freedom, companionship, and a soft place to belong. She would do best with someone who is home much of the time — perhaps someone who is retired or works from home — because being close to her person is where she feels happiest and safest.

And there are some wonderful things about Izzy that make her especially easy to love: she is housebroken, she enjoys a fenced yard, and she would absolutely love to sleep beside you at night.

Izzy doesn't need a busy or complicated life. She doesn't need to run or keep up with anyone. She just needs a person who wants a little shadow by their side, a warm bed to share, and a senior dog to love.

Her past may have been difficult, but Izzy is ready to look forward. Her coat is growing back, her body is healing, and her sweet personality is shining through.

We can't change the first 13 years of Izzy's life. But we can make sure the rest of it is filled with love. If you are interested, please email tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application available here (scroll down on that page for app): https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt

Bringing a dog home to your cat

Tell the rescue about your cat: their age and how they react to dogs. A dog who has lived calmly with one cat may still want to chase a cat that runs.

Introduce them slowly. Keep them apart for the first few days and swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, then let them meet with the dog on a leash, rewarding calm behavior.

Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, like a high shelf or a room behind a baby gate, and keep the litter box and cat food out of the dog's way.
