We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you!
Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes.
Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here, you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site.
Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. Then, they will set an appointment with you to come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take Rover (or Spot, or Jax) home with you that very day.
A couple of things you should know:
We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email.
Adoption fees vary based on breed.
All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed).
We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters.

❤️ MEET AMETHYST & STEVEN! ❤️
Meet Amethyst and Steven, an adorable brother-and-sister duo of Chiweenies who are about 1.5 years old!
These siblings were the result of an unexpected litter, and their owners did their best to keep the family together. Unfortunately, financial challenges and housing limitations made it clear that they needed a little help to ensure these pups could live their very best lives. ❤️
Sometimes, loving an animal means recognizing when you need help giving them the future they deserve. We’re happy to help Amethyst and Steven find their next chapters!

And they aren’t the only ones! Their siblings, Gunther and Pearl, will be joining the rescue soon, too!
Amethyst and Steven have been vetted and are ready to find loving families who will give them the security, happiness, and forever homes they deserve. ❤️
We would absolutely LOVE to see this duo adopted together, but they are not bonded and can be adopted separately. They will need patience, understanding, and plenty of socialization to help them build confidence and catch up on their social skills. With time, consistency, and love, we know they can blossom!
Could you be the missing piece of their story? Whether you have room in your heart for one or both, these sweet pups deserve a chance to shine!

Adopting a dog in Cumberland County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
