Arielle is already showing what a wonderful little girl she can be, with her sweet personality shining through. She is great with other dogs, cats, and children and loves making friends. She’s playful and energetic, but underneath all that puppy enthusiasm is a loving, gentle, and incredibly affectionate girl.

Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.
Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate!

If you are looking for a loyal companion who brings an automatic dose of magic and joy into every room, Mini Hufflepuff is ready to steal your heart! True to her name, this sweet girl is incredibly devoted, kind, and always ready to make you smile.
Read more about Mini Hufflepuff TX
Mini Hufflepuff is a charming, 3-year-old terrier mix weighing in at a compact 10 pounds—the perfect size companion and an on-the-go sidekick. She was surrendered to our care by her previous elderly owners who simply found themselves with more dogs than they could comfortably provide for. Because she grew up in a multi-pet home, she has fantastic social skills and is fully house-trained. She is a social girl who walks great on a leash, and rides wonderfully in the car, making her the perfect companion for neighborhood strolls and weekend road trips!
She has perfectly mastered the balance between outdoor fun and indoor relaxation time. One of her favorite pastimes is exploring every nook and cranny of a fenced backyard. When she isn't on backyard patrol, she is usually proudly carrying her favorite squeaky toys around the house like tiny prizes. Once she has successfully burned off her playtime energy, Mini Hufflepuff expects her payment in full: epic belly rubs. She will gladly roll over and let you scratch her belly for as long as your hand can manage!
The Ideal Home:
Mini Hufflepuff is a social butterfly who fits beautifully into a family dynamic. Thanks to her upbringing, she is friendly with other dogs, coexists wonderfully with cats, and does great with older children, 7 and up, who can respect her space and join in on her toy-tossing fun. She would do best in a home with a fenced backyard where she can safely explore, sunbathe, and trot around with her toys to her heart's content. She is past the chaotic puppy phase, completely house-trained, and packed with a lifetime of love to give. In other words, she is perfect!!

13. Snowy TX
Young (9 months) · Female · Pomeranian / Husky / Mixed (long coat) · 19 mi from Newark

MEET SNOWY! Beautiful, Blue-Eyed and Looking for a Fresh Start!
Snowy is an absolutely gorgeous Pomsky (Pomeranian/Husky mix) who will celebrate her first birthday on Christmas Day! Weighing under 20 pounds, this fluffy little girl has stunning blue eyes, a beautiful coat and a whole lot of personality!
Unfortunately, Snowy’s life hasn’t gotten off to the best start. Through no fault of her own, she found herself needing a new home when her owner’s circumstances changed. Living in an RV with a young, energetic puppy simply wasn’t providing the space, exercise or stimulation Snowy needed.
Read more about Snowy TX
Snowy is a sweet, affectionate girl who needs an active, patient and committed home willing to provide the exercise, structure and guidance that a young Pomsky requires.
Now, here’s the important part.
Snowy has demonstrated resource and space guarding behaviors around smaller dogs and has gone after them when she feels her space is being invaded. For this reason, we believe Snowy would do best as the only dog in the home. A home with a larger, compatible dog may be considered with careful introductions and appropriate supervision.
Snowy needs room to run, opportunities to play and, most importantly, someone willing to invest the time in helping her become the best version of herself. She’s still just a puppy, and with the right environment, consistency and guidance, we hope she can thrive.
Snowy doesn’t need perfection. She needs someone who understands her needs and is willing to give her a chance. Please share Snowy’s story and help us find the home she deserves!
If you think Snow would be a good fit for your home, please complete an adoption application at http://www.northstarpets.org and be sure to mention her name!

Meet Lucky: The Little Poodle Who’s Ready for a Big ComebackSome dogs are named Lucky because they found luck. This guy? He’s named Lucky because he is the luck — a 6yearold Mini Poodle who brings good vibes the way other dogs bring tennis balls. He’s still the same cheerful, tailwagging optimist who believes every person is a friend he just hasn’t greeted yet. Lucky is wonderfully social — he gets along with people of all ages, other dogs, and even cats, and he radiates that warm, “come sit with me” energy that makes you feel instantly adored.

This Long Haired Chihuahua mix was given away to someone who then tossed her outside for four days with no food, no water, and no kindness. When rescuers finally reached her, Millie’s sad, soulful face said everything — she had been waiting for someone to notice she mattered. And she does matter. Millie is a gentle, sensitive girl who needs a moment to feel safe with new people. She’s not shy because she’s stubborn — she’s shy because she remembers what it felt like to be forgotten.

But once she realizes you’re one of the good ones, she softens like sunshine. Her tiny tail starts to wag, her eyes brighten, and she leans in with the sweetest, quiet devotion. She’s wonderful with dogs and cats, and she finds comfort in their company. Millie would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can blossom at her own pace and learn that love doesn’t disappear. 23. Kym's Ginger TX
Senior (8 years) · Female · Terrier / Mixed (long coat) · 19 mi from Newark

Meet Ginger, an 8-year-old scruffy Terrier mix who has brought an immense amount of joy and love to her foster home from the very moment she arrived. Fun, energetic, and endlessly affectionate, Ginger makes herself right at home immediately and runs up to excitedly greet anyone who walks through the front door. She is completely house-trained with zero accidents and loves staying active by playing with toys, running around the backyard, and going for walks. When playtime is over, this sweet girl is more than happy to curl up right next to you on the couch for a cozy cuddle session.
Read more about Kym's Ginger TX
Ginger is used to having constant company and thrives best in a home where someone will be around more often than away. She gets along wonderfully with people and other dogs, and while she hasn't lived with small children, she has always been friendly with the neighbors' kids. Due to a history of being told she is not a fan of cats, a feline-free home would suit her best. She is also not a nuisance barker, only speaking up if she spots a squirrel or a deer outside.
Having never been in a crate, Ginger is looking for a home where she doesn't have to start; she prefers sleeping with her humans and gives you plenty of personal space throughout the night. If sleeping arrangements require it, she could likely be trained to settle into a dog bed in your bedroom. Sweet, well-mannered, and full of life, Ginger is ready to bring her bright spirit to a forever family.

CeCe (AL) has spent her entire life giving everything she had to everyone but herself. This 8yearold Chihuahua mix came to us just in time—rescued from a backyard breeder only days after delivering six tiny puppies. 30. A Beckett
Young (2 years 2 months) · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie · 9 mi from Newark

Beckett is available for adoption. He is 2 years old and weighs 11 pounds. His adoption fee is $850.00.Hi! I'm Beckett. I was found as a stray in Harrisburg, PA but luckily SAY Rescue pulled me out of the shelter and brought me to my new foster family in Livingston, NJ! I am around 11 lbs and estimated to be around 2 years old.
Read more about A Beckett
My favorite activities are:
1. Cuddling and being close with my foster mom or foster doggy brother
2. Short walks (I'm great on a leash!)
3. Rolling around on my back and digging imaginary holes
4. Sleeping in bed between my foster mommy and daddy
My foster mommy says I'm the cutest thing ever. Just look at me! I'm not a fan of being in my crate but I will tolerate it after some whining. I am learning to play fetch and to ring the bell when I want to go outside. I get along great with my foster brother and love to chase and follow him around the yard. I do like getting all the attention, though. Whenever my foster mommy pets my foster brother, I try to wiggle in to get in on the action. I am very good at doing all my business outside but I occaisionally like to mark my territory so my foster mommy sometimes puts me in a belly band. With some consistent training, I should get over this pretty quickly and am doing much better already.
I am a playful, spunky guy that also enjoys relaxing and cuddling. I love being close and am looking for a forever home to give me all the love and attention I deserve. Could that be you?
Beckett is staying with Maryanne in Livingston, NJ.
