1. Dolly

Senior (7 years 11 months) · Female · Shih Tzu / Mixed (long coat) · 18 mi from Black Creek

Meet Dolly ❤️

Dolly is a tiny Shih-Tzu girl who has already been through far more than she ever should have. She came to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue as a stray from Guilford County, flea-infested and missing much of her beautiful fur. Despite the neglect she endured, Dolly is still a sweet little girl who deserves nothing but love, patience, and kindness from here on out.

Read more about Dolly

Dolly is estimated to be about 8 years old. She is currently receiving the veterinary care she desperately needed when she arrived. One of our biggest concerns is that Dolly appears to be blind, so she will need a patient and understanding family who can help her feel safe and secure as she learns to navigate her new world.

But being blind doesn't mean Dolly doesn't have plenty of love to give. ❤️ She is a precious little soul who deserves to spend the rest of her life knowing what it feels like to be safe, cherished, and truly loved.

Because of her age and possible vision impairment, Dolly would do best in a quiet, calm home with someone who understands that senior and special-needs dogs may need a little extra time and patience. We are looking for someone who will see past her physical challenges and recognize the wonderful little dog underneath.

Dolly didn't choose to be neglected or abandoned. She didn't ask to arrive at rescue in poor condition. But she now has a chance at the happy ending she deserves.

Could you be Dolly's forever family? ❤️

Dolly is available for adoption through Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue. If you can't adopt but would like to help Dolly and the other medically needy senior dogs in our care, donations are always greatly appreciated.

3. Elvis

Senior (8 years) · Male · Chihuahua (short coat) · 18 mi from Black Creek

Meet Elvis… a tiny senior with a big personality who needs your help ❤️

Everyone, say hello to Elvis — an adorable little 11-year-old Chihuahua who has recently come into the care of Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue. While he may be tiny, this little guy has been through a lot and is counting on us to help him get the care he deserves.

Elvis is looking for a special home that understands his needs. He does not do well with children, but he does enjoy the company of small dogs after a proper introduction. Like many senior dogs we take in, Elvis has some medical needs that we now have to address.

Read more about Elvis

Our sweet boy is up to date with his shots and neutered, and he is also dealing with a luxating patella, a condition affecting his knee that can cause discomfort and mobility issues. He also recently had a dental. As always, we are committed to making sure Elvis gets the veterinary care he needs so he can have comfort, stability, and hopefully find the perfect forever home.

He is available for adoption, and the adoption fee is $300; we do not transport dogs. Must be located in the Raleigh and surrounding area.

4. Bo Peep

Puppy (5 months 16 days) · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) · 24 mi from Black Creek

Meet Bo Peep from the Toy Story Litter! Bo Peep, also known as Breeze, is an 18 week old sweet, playful, high-energy 16-pound girl with a huge personality and an even bigger love for belly rubs. When she wants attention, she’ll walk right up to you with her ears tucked back, sit patiently, and the moment you reach down to pet her, she’ll roll onto her back and happily accept belly rubs for as long as you’re willing to give them!

Read more about Bo Peep

She loves to play and is great at entertaining herself with toys, but she also loves interactive play with her people and another dog. Bo Peep has lots of puppy energy, so she would do best with an active household, likely one with another dog, that can give her plenty of playtime, exercise, enrichment, and attention. She currently lives with children.

Bo Peep is doing very well with her training. She already knows “sit” and “down,” is crate trained, and sleeps comfortably in her crate through the night. Her potty training is also coming along nicely. She does most of her business outside and understands that outside is where she is supposed to go, although she can still have an occasional accident if she isn’t taken out on time. She has minimal experience with the leash and will definitely need work with that. These days, Bo Peep spends most of her time outside of a playpen. She’s actually quite talented at figuring out how to escape one, so a puppy-proofed area is definitely recommended! She’s still learning to stay by your side, so a 4-foot fence would be best for the little wanderer. Like many curious puppies, Bo Peep explores the world with her mouth. She loves picking things up and may try to swallow things she shouldn’t, so her new family will need to keep an eye on her and keep tempting objects out of reach. When she gets really excited during play, she can also become a little mouthy, but she has been making good progress as she learns appropriate play manners. Bo Peep loves to chew, so durable toys are her favorite. Soft plush toys don’t tend to survive very long around her, and because she may try to eat pieces she tears off, the foster home sticks with strong plush toys, chew toys, and other durable puppy-safe options. Bo Peep would be a wonderful match for someone looking for an affectionate, energetic, goofy puppy who wants to be part of everything you’re doing. Give her plenty of activity, structure, toys and, most importantly, belly rubs, and Bo Peep will be one very happy girl. If you’re ready to meet her, then please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at

5. Jeb

Adult (5 years) · Male · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 24 mi from Black Creek

LOYALTY. If there is one word that defines a German Shepherd, it’s loyalty. Meet Jebediah — Jeb for short. Jeb is a 5-year-old, 92-pound German Shepherd looking for his person. Jeb is fiercely loyal and happiest when he’s right by your side. He’s a quiet, well-mannered dog in the home who is perfectly content settling in beside his person. But get him outside and the goofy side comes out.

Read more about Jeb

Jeb absolutely romps around with his dog friends like a total goober, breaks into spectacular zoomies, loves pool time, and chases bugs like it’s his full-time job. He is dog-friendly with slow, proper introductions. He would also likely be kid-friendly due to his temperament but would probably be best with bigger kids. He can be nervous when meeting new people or dogs, but once he has time to realize you’re a friend, he warms up beautifully and becomes your buddy for life. Jeb is crate-trained, fully potty-trained, and knows basic obedience. He does not require a fenced yard, but he will need to learn reliable recall before being trusted off-leash.Jeb does have a prey drive, so he needs a home without cats or other small animals. At the end of the day, Jeb really just wants one thing: his person. Someone he can follow around, sit beside, play with, and love with that unmistakable German Shepherd devotion. If you’re looking for a big, loyal, goofy Shepherd who wants nothing more than to be your shadow, Jeb may be your guy. If you’re interested in adding Jeb to your family, contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Jeb is being fostered in Charlotte, NC.

6. Star

2 Years 2 Months · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat) · 24 mi from Black Creek

Everyone meet Star! With her beautiful looks and award winning personality she is sure to be the STAR of the show wherever she goes! Not to mention all the hearts she is sure to steal. This sweet girl is 2 years old and 50 pounds. Her story started when she arrived at a shelter partner timid and scared along with her rogue co-star and their pups. (See the Toy Story litter!) It was soon evident that she was destined for great things. Scooped up by her foster family, she quickly settled into life on a farm and can often be seen hanging out with her entourage, an eclectic crew of critters from cats and dogs to horses, goats and cows! She has even been seen having a pleasant conversation with a chicken on occasion! Star is ever seeking the limelight and flirting for attention, which she gets quite easily.

Read more about Star

Don't be fooled - she is definitely not a diva. She is still very much down to earth, and usually seen rolling in it. When that is done, it's time to enjoy a refreshing dip in the pond, splashing with friends and then sunbathing on a nearby chair. She loves being with her people and furry friends so much that she does not require a fenced in yard. When out and about on the town, Star loves to be greeted by her adoring fans. She is always happy and well mannered with everyone she meets. Occasionally her past shows through and she will get nervous and unsure but with the love and encouragement from her supportive catemates she quickly regains her composure and is ready to shine. At home, she is housebroken and crate trained. If your story is missing that little something extra, maybe you need some Star power! To find out more on how she can make your next chapter the best one yet, reach out to Freedom German Shepherd Rescue and talk with your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org. Star is being fostered near Southern Pines, NC.

7. Giggle

Puppy (4 months 2 days) · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) · 24 mi from Black Creek

Hi, I’m Giggle from the Toy Story Litter, and I’m pretty sure I can make you smile just by looking at you! I’m a 20 pound, 18-week-old German Shepherd puppy girl with a big heart and playful spirit. My favorite place is right next to my people, and if you’re willing to pick me up and give me some love, I’ll happily soak it all in. I’m your classic happy, energetic puppy, so I’m looking for a family who is ready for puppy adventures, training, playtime, and lots of love. I’ll need a securely fenced yard, preferably 4 feet tall or higher, while I continue working on my recall and learning all those important puppy manners. I LOVE other dogs and have enjoyed spending time with canine friends. I also live with two cats and free-range chickens! I’m still learning that everyone doesn’t necessarily want to be chased when I’m feeling playful, so my new family will need to continue working with me on those manners and give me appropriate supervision around smaller animals. I’m already doing really well with potty training (just the odd accident here or there), I'm crate trained, making progress on the leash, and I’m a great little car rider. I’m learning more every day and am eager to please. But my favorite thing? People (big and small). I love being around them, being held, and making that sweet eye contact that makes you feel like I’m looking straight into your heart.

Giggle is going to make an absolutely wonderful companion for someone who is ready to help a puppy grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. 8. Flynn

Adult (3 years 4 months) · Male · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 24 mi from Black Creek

Meet Flynn! This 3 year old, 69 pound, drop-dead gorgeous guy has a perfect black saddleback marking and stunning, light amber eyes – this dude is quite the looker! Handsome, but not one bit conceited. He is completely oblivious to his good looks. He does, however, love a good time! He is the first to play and the last to leave the playground. He literally plays all day long but when the day is done and he’s settled comfortably in his beloved crate, he promptly conks out and will stay that way for the night. Flynn loves his bright orange Kong toy and will faithfully carry his beloved Kong around all day and night.

Read more about Flynn

He loves to fetch and is so smart that he has learned the difference between “Catch” (grab the kong in mid-air) and “Fetch” ( run to the end of the yard and let it bounce once). He knows to “drop it” in the same place for the next toss.
He’s crate trained and loves his crate and will often go in it for naps and short rests during the day. Flynn responds to some basic commands. He’ll sit even when it’s darn hard to do so! Flynn has learned to cuddle. He does love to be touched, however, and will stand perfectly still for long periods of time if his ears and neck are getting scratched. He gets along well with all other dogs and doesn’t mind a busy house with lots of visitors and more new humans to meet. He does love his new life!! He wants to be by his humans all the time. If he’s outside, you can find him staring in the window and wondering where you are! He does well with older kids but hasn’t been tested on younger ones just yet. He greets all adult visitors in a friendly way, always eager to meet someone new to play with! Flynn gets along beautifully with his fur foster sister and can often get her in the spirit of a good game of chase! Flynn is fully house trained and now whines when he has to go outside. He has also made huge strides with his leash manners. He is quite mesmerized by cats and so a home without them is best. Flynn shows little interest in the world outside of our 4 foot fence. He knows that life is good on the inside! If you are looking for a loyal, fun and energetic best friend, Flynn just might be your man! If you are interested in adopting Flynn, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at

9. Classy

Adult (7 years 4 months) · Female · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 24 mi from Black Creek

Meet Classy – Your Loyal Best Friend. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who truly wants to be your partner in life, meet Classy. This beautiful 7 year old, 63 pound German Shepherd is loyal, intelligent, and devoted to her people. Once she chooses her person, she’s all in. Whether you’re working from home, relaxing on the couch, heading outside, or even taking a bathroom break, Classy is happiest simply being near you. (Yes… she’s an excellent bathroom buddy and will faithfully wait outside the door until you’re finished!) Classy is fully housebroken, crate trained, and knows commands like sit and down, and she’s making great progress with stay.

Read more about Classy

She’s eager to learn but does have a bit of a mischievous side—especially in the kitchen. If you’re cooking or cutting vegetables, she’ll happily try to “help,” and anytime food is involved, she’s convinced she should be included. Classy has a very strong drive for both balls and treats, which makes training highly effective when using those rewards. She has also been introduced to Schutzhund work and has shown great potential for that type of training. Outside, Classy absolutely comes alive when it’s time to play fetch. During the workday, when her foster mom is at the computer, Classy is very good at reminding her that it’s time to take a break—she’ll bring a ball and place it right in her lap, watching it drop to the floor. If that doesn’t get the message across, she’ll bring another… and another… and another until you finally give in and throw it! That said, she also has a wonderful ability to relax. Many times she’s perfectly content to lounge on the couch, nap in the hallway sunbeams, or quietly keep watch over the street. Classy balances her energy well and settles easily when things are calm, relaxing nearby until it’s time to play again. Classy also takes her job as family protector seriously. She has a deep, intimidating bark that lets you know when someone is outside, but she isn’t a nuisance barker. She settles quickly once she knows everything is okay. On walks, Classy has nice leash manners and responds well to redirection. Even when passing reactive dogs, she is very handler-focused and will refocus with clear guidance. She requires a confident, experienced handler who understands working breeds and can match her loyalty with consistency and commitment, helping her reach her full potential as an exceptional companion. She needs slow introductions to other dogs. Because of her size and enthusiasm, Classy would do best with older children. She enjoys kids but doesn’t always realize how big she is when she’s excited and can accidentally bump into little ones. Classy would do best in a home without cats or chickens. She has a strong prey drive, and moving animals naturally trigger her instinct to chase. She can also be protective of her home and personal space around unfamiliar dogs. While she’s learning appropriate introductions, she’ll do best with an adopter who understands shepherds and is committed to continuing her training. She has shown that she’s very responsive and eager to work with her handler, making her an excellent candidate for continued success. Although Classy has good recall, a 6 foot fenced yard would be ideal. Like many dogs, Classy prefers to eat her meals without being disturbed. She may give a warning growl if someone tries to pet her while she’s eating. Simply giving her space during mealtime is all she asks. Classy’s ideal home is one with a confident adopter who appreciates the intelligence and loyalty of German Shepherds, enjoys continuing structure, does not have cats or chickens, lives with adults or older children and wants a true companion, not just a pet. Classy isn’t looking for just any family—she’s looking for her person. In return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty, endless games of fetch, a watchful eye over your home, and a best friend who wants nothing more than to spend her life by your side. If you’re looking for a smart,

COURTESY POST !!! DO NOT APPLY TO RUSTY'S PLEASE APPLY HERE: Adoption Application Form https://share.google/UBQ9UhYNIlUmPIGtI HELP US FIND NEMO HIS HAPPY ENDING! Our sweet boy Nemo is just a couple of weeks away from graduating from his SIX-WEEK BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAM, and we have one very important thing left to accomplish. WE NEED TO FIND HIM A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME! Nemo has spent the last several weeks working incredibly hard to become the best version of himself. He's learned obedience, built confidence, improved his social skills, and made some truly amazing progress. But there's one thing we can't teach him in training.

Read more about Nemo

What it feels like to have a home of his very own. Nemo is an incredibly intelligent, affectionate, active boy who bonds deeply with his people. Once you're his person, you're HIS person, and he will absolutely adore you. He's also got a few quirks, and we want to be completely transparent about what his perfect home looks like. Children 15 and older: Nemo does best with people who understand boundaries and can respect his personal space. No small animals: While Nemo does well with other dogs, smaller animals aren't a good fit for him. Dog friendly: With proper introductions, Nemo enjoys other dogs! He has a particularly funny fascination with black, fluffy dogs. Apparently, our handsome boy has a type! A quieter household: Nemo would thrive in a home with a predictable routine, a little peace and quiet, and people he can build a strong relationship with. An active family: Hiking, running, exploring, and outdoor adventures? Nemo would LOVE that! He's a smart, energetic boy who enjoys having things to do. Supervised outdoor time: Nemo is quite the talented fence climber! Although his recall has improved tremendously, he still needs supervision and secure handling outdoors. Continued respect for his boundaries: Nemo has made wonderful progress with meeting new people and navigating public environments. He just needs strangers to approach appropriately and give him a chance to feel comfortable. AND THE BEST PART? NEMO COMES WITH LIFETIME TRAINING SUPPORT! We're not simply handing Nemo over with a list of commands and wishing everyone good luck. His new family will receive: Lifetime refresher training sessions Help from his trainer during his transition into his new home Guidance on maintaining his obedience and continuing his progress Support to help Nemo and his new family build a wonderful relationship We have invested six weeks into helping Nemo succeed, and we're committed to making sure that success continues long after graduation. Now, here's the part that breaks our hearts. Nemo does not do well in a traditional boarding environment. He struggles emotionally, becomes withdrawn, and simply isn't the same happy, affectionate dog we see when he's able to spend time with people and participate in everyday life. We've watched him blossom throughout his training. We've seen his personality shine, his confidence grow, and his ability to navigate the world improve. The thought of him finishing all this hard work only to return to a kennel is absolutely devastating. Nemo deserves to graduate into a HOME, not back into boarding. He doesn't need a perfect family. He needs the right family. Someone patient. Someone active. Someone who appreciates a dog with a big personality, a huge heart, and a few little quirks. Someone who understands that rescue dogs aren't always perfect, but they are absolutely worth the effort. And if you're not quite ready to adopt? FOSTERING NEMO WOULD BE JUST AS INCREDIBLE! Giving him somewhere comfortable to land while we search for his forever family would mean the world to us and, more importantly, to Nemo. NEMO'S NEXT CHAPTER IS WAITING! Charlotte, NC Foster or forever home needed Graduating from his six-week training program soon Lifetime training support included Apply at https://stabrescue.com Please, please share our sweet boy.
