1. Snowball

Young (1 year) · Male · Poodle (unknown type) / Maltese / Mixed (long coat)

Meet SNOWBALL, a fluffy little poodle mix boy looking for a home. He's an energetic young goofball. Snowball is 1 year old and we're told he was purchased as a Maltipoo. He's fully grown, currently 17 pounds but could stand to add a pound or two. He's energetic, playful and good natured. He needs a little work on his manners, nothing major, mostly he's just a little too enthusiastic. Snowball really needs the companionship of another playful dog. He's not ready for lapdog life, this boy wants to have FUN!! Snowball's scruffy coat will require regular grooming, his adopter should be prepared for that expense. His coat is really short right now, we aren't sure if he was shaved down before he was surrendered to a shelter. If you'd like to meet Snowball, please fill out a dog adoption application at
dreamhouserescue.org.
We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Snowball at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm at PetSmart Eastgate.

Our fully vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

2. Mimosa

Young (10 months) · Female · Beagle / Mixed (short coat)

MIMOSA is a lovely little beagle mix girl looking for a home. This stunning young dog is sister to Aspen and Cedar but looks less beagly than her siblings. She has the trim, high waisted body style of a sight hound (i.e. whippet) and lovely caramel-colored eyes. Mimosa is 10-12 months old and fully grown at just 18 pounds. She loves toys and loves to run and play with her doggie friends. Mimosa needs a home where she'll have a friendly dog playmate. She is uninterested in cats. Mimosa has some scarring on her back from an old wound. Something happened to her as a young puppy (we have no clue what happened). It almost looks like a cowlick now. If you'd like to meet lovely Mimosa, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. How cute is CEDAR? I mean seriously, how can you resist that sweet face? Beagle mix boy Cedar is 10-12 months old and fully grown at 19 pounds. If he looks a little familiar, he is Aspen's brother. Aspen has already found a home but her sister (Mimosa) and brother are now available! Cedar is a friendly, playful boy. He's a little timid in new situations and when meeting new people but warms up quickly to kindness. Cedar needs a home where he will have another friendly, playful dog. Cedar ignores kitties. 19. Malloy

Senior (8 years 11 months) · Male · Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat)

Adorable MALLOY is a lively little gentleman looking for a home. He's a sweet 17 pound chiweenie (dachshund/chihuahua)-type mixed breed boy who was estimated to be 9 years but you might be tempted to question that estimate if you see this guy chase toys. Malloy has a unique looking coat with a dapple/merle type pattern. That plus that blue eye makes us suspect there is some dapple/red merle dachshund in his family tree. Malloy is sweet and friendly, fine with other dogs and uninterested in cats. He's not ready to be considered an old man yet, he definitely acts like a middle-aged guy. In addition to standard vetting, Malloy just had a dental cleaning to make sure his oral health is A-OK. Malloy was found as a stray and was taken in by someone whose resident dogs were attacking him so he ended up on a chain outdoors, no life for a sweet little guy. Malloy's manners suggest he probably had a loving home at some point in his life. His coat was in rough shape thanks to fleas but that issue has been addressed and his hair is growing back nicely. Now all he needs is a place to call home. If you'd like to meet Malloy, please fill out a dog adoption application at

25. McRib

Young (1 year) · Male · Unknown breed (short coat)

This boy stole everyone’s hearts yesterday! He showed off his tricks at Tractor Supply, was a pro for his bath, played in the yard, and then took a nice long nap.

He headed to the vet and was the perfect gentleman! He got his vaccines and medication for an ear infection, but otherwise received a clean bill of health. He was already neutered, too!

McRib is now safe with his lifesaving foster, Amy, where he’s enjoying the backyard and playing Frisbee. He LOVES people and just wants to be wherever you are!

Read more about McRib

He’s only about a year old, and somewhere along the way, someone took the time to love him, train him, and neuter him. Yet somehow, he ended up a stray and on the euthanasia list.

Please remember, euthanasia doesn't always mean a dog has behavioral or medical issues. They was simply out of space.

He isn't damaged goods. He's a happy, loving pup who deserves a family of his own.

28. Sexy Dexy

Puppy (5 months 7 days) · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

My name is Sexy Dexy but my foster mom just calls me Dexy. I am a 5 month old pitty mix and weigh in at 36lbs! I wake up every day with love and joy radiating from the tip of my nose to the nub of my tail. I sleep all night in my crate (9P to 7A) with no accidents or whining to go outside! I already know how to sit and am very quick to learn new things. I love walking on a leash with the kids that live with me (9 yrs and 4 yrs) and all the neighbor kids in the area. I just sit down and let them all give me pets and hugs. I get along with everyone and everything. Dogs, cats, kids, adults … I even lived with a Raccoon at my prior residence! I LOVE to snuggle and prefer to be right next to you or on your lap if there’s enough room.

My nubby tail wags 100mph every time I see anyone in my family walk into a room or call my name - almost like it’s the very first time I laid my sweet brown eyes on them! I ride in the front seat of the car like a perfect boy every morning to school drop off and every evening to the sitter. Everyone constantly talks about how cute and sweet I am, I think it’s time you find out for yourself! Apply to adopt me today!

29. Pippi Longstocking

Puppy (4 months 29 days) · Female · Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Hi, I’m Pippi Longstocking, a 5-month-old little lady who is mostly Jack Russell Terrier weighing about 10 pounds. And while I may be small, I’ve got plenty of personality packed into this tiny body! ❤️
I’m a girl who likes to take things at my own pace. Like many small dogs, I believe in slow introductions when meeting new friends. Once I’m comfortable, I do well with other dogs and am perfectly happy giving them their space.

But my people? Oh, I LOVE my people. I’m happiest when I’m near my humans and getting all the love and attention I can soak up.

And then there are the ZOOMIES! Every once in a while, all that puppy energy has to come flying out, and when it does, watch out! I’ll race around, have some fun, and then settle back down like nothing happened.

I’m sweet, smart, spunky, and full of puppy personality. I’m looking for a family who will give me patience while I get comfortable, introduce me to new friends slowly, and then love me for all the quirky, adorable little things that make me Pippi.
I may only be 10 pounds right now, but I have a feeling I’m going to take up a very big piece of your heart.

Adopting a dog in Clinton County

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
