1. Diesel
Adult (3 years 5 months) · Male · Boxer (short coat)

Meet Diesel!
This handsome 4-year-old, 65-pound Boxer is ready for a fresh start!
After not receiving the care he needed and frequently wandering out of his yard, a kind neighbor helped convince his owner to surrender him to rescue.
Diesel is now being treated for ear infections, a UTI, and a skin infection. He's on the mend, but still sensitive about his ears and mouth after being uncomfortable for so long.
Despite everything, Diesel is a friendly boy who loves people and gets along with other dogs.
He'll be available for adoption starting November 7th and is ready to find a family who will give him the love and care he deserves!

2. French Toast
Young (1 year 1 month) · Female · French Bulldog (short coat)

French Toast came to us from Manhatten ACC after being brought in with a painful and horrible ulcer in her eye and ear infections. She was seen by our vet right away and put on medications for both her eye and ear and is doing much, much better and we are pretty hopeful she can keep her eye! We were so worried she would lose it and it’s now looking just so much better.
Read more about French Toast
She is just over 1 year old and currently hanging out in an upstate NY foster home and doing great. She is getting along well with the resident dogs, and is also super spunky and playful with the resident kitties.
She is a sweet little girl, just around a year and can’t wait to find her forever home.
All of our animals receive comprehensive veterinary care prior to adoption, including a full exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, spay or neuter, heartworm testing, and any necessary medical treatment.
A vet reference, home and/or family visit, and an adoption fee are required.

3. Maximus
Young (1 year 7 months) · Male · Boxer (short coat)

79lbs OF BOXER ENERGY, COMING RIGHT UP!
Meet Maximus! He’s 1.5 years old, full of bouncy Boxer energy, obsessed with squeaky stuffies, and convinced he’s a lap dog. ❤️
The problem? Shelter life is overstimulating, and Max needs more exercise, enrichment, and structure than the shelter can consistently provide. Give this boy a chance to burn off some energy, and even that enthusiastic leash-grabbing can improve!
Max is dog social, people social, neutered, and up to date on vet care. He’s having a hard time in the shelter, and we’d love to see him decompress and do his zoomies in a home.

Max needs a foster or forever home! An experienced Boxer home that understands adolescent energy and can give him the exercise, consistency, and outlets he needs could make all the difference.

BAILEE HERE! REPORTING LIVE FROM MY FREEDOM RIDE!
Okay, friends… I’m not sure where we’re going, but I’m LOVING this freedom ride thing! The wind, the adventure, speeding toward my new life… 10/10.
I’m a 3-year-old brindle Boxer girl, and I’m told I’m a pretty special passenger. I’m sweet, petite, happy, and ready to find my very own family!
A little about me:
I’ve lived with kids and other dogs.
I’ve seen cats, and so far, not too interested.
I’m a picky eater so I'm pretty trim
And my FAVORITE thing in the whole wide world? MY FOSTER MAMA.

I follow that woman EVERYWHERE. She moves, I move. She sits, I’m right there. If she ever figures out how to shower without me supervising, I’ll be shocked.
I guess you could say I’m a little Velcro girl!
I’ll be ready for adoption NEXT WEEK, and I’m hoping my freedom ride is just the beginning of a lifetime of adventures with my forever family.

5. Deanna
Puppy · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Deanna is a cute little pittie/lab mix (we think) who was brought to the shelter with a mild rectal prolapse. When we have helped so many recently – what’s one more – so welcome Deanna! Currently in an upstate NY foster home, she is about 6 1/2 - 7 weeks old and happy, sweet and spunky. She is already proving to be a smarty pants and doing great with potty training, and will learn additional puppy basics as she settles in.

Introducing Dean Martin or Dino as we call him! He’s a 9 pound Yorkie we guess is between five and seven years old. He’s very curious and playful. He likes to play fetch, tug-of-war, and enjoys a good brisk walk through the neighborhood. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys a good snuggle on the couch with his human. 7. Riggs
Adult (3 years 3 months) · Male · Shih Tzu (medium coat)

Meet Riggs! A Little Gentleman with a Big Heart!
Say hello to Riggs, (affectionately known as RIGSBY by his foster famiy) is a handsome 3-year-old Shih Tzu who is discovering that life beyond the kennel can be pretty wonderful! ❤️
Riggs came from a commercial breeding facility, so he’s still learning all about the joys of being a beloved family pet. Toys, leash walks, and house manners are new adventures for this sweet boy, but he’s catching on one little step at a time!
One of Riggs’ greatest teachers has been his canine friends. He looks to them for reassurance and guidance, and you should have seen him on just his second day in his foster home — watching his buddies and happily following along on a leash! Having a friendly, confident canine companion in his forever home would help Riggs continue to blossom and build his confidence.
Riggs gets along with cats, too! He loves to cuddle and is a very sweet, loving little fellow. Because the world is still new to him, he can be a bit skittish if approached too quickly. With a gentle approach, patience, and a little understanding, he’ll have the chance to feel safe and let his loving personality shine.
At night, Riggs settles into his crate, and he’s already making wonderful progress as he learns the routines of home life.
✨ A few things to know about this handsome boy:

8. Pebbles
Young · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Pebbles is the cutest, sweetest, gentle little girl. Smaller and cuter than she appears in photos. She is only 3 years old, under 40 lbs, and has not had a great life. Bred several times (probably not on purpose) and not well cared for, this happy, silly girl is a love, once she comes out of her shell (takes a day or so). A touch timid with new people, but then super playful, affectionate, and a bit goofy, once she knows you. She should have a fenced yard (or experienced people), since she is a touch skittish in new situations, and on leash. Good with dogs and cats. Pebbles truly is a happy, silly girl, who just wants to be with her person/people. A must meet, for again, so much cuter and smaller in person and she will steal your heart, for sure.

9. Molly
Young · Female · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat)

Molly is the cutest little thing. Just a sweet, mini-cattle dog. She is only about 1.5 years old and 22 lbs of an adorable and playful little herder. Molly is super friendly and social and good with dogs, and cats (but with cats, she needs correction from time to time). She is truly such a good little girl and so easy to work with and train, and such a happy, bouncy, fun, companion dog, although a touch timid at times, with some new people. BUT, she is a cattle dog and needs folks who understand what this means, so she can get the home she will thrive in. Way smaller than she apears in the photos and SO adorable! Knowing this type of breed is a must, for her to get what she needs, and so folks understand what a little dog like this is all about.

10. Ralphie
Young · Male · Wheaten Terrier / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed (medium coat)

Ralphie is a goofy, silly, playful, affectionate pup. He is only about 1 year old and about 43 lbs. He is smart and easy to work with, but a fenced yard and continued training would make him even better than he is now. He is affectionate and loves to play with other dogs. could be trained around cats, but would need an experienced person to guide him. Ralph is good in any situation and truly just a wonderfull, hypoallergenic buddy. A must meet, for this boy is so much cuter than the photos show. Great active (not hyper) companion. Guessing at his breeds, but this is what he looks like to us.

12. Hank
Adult · Male · Great Pyrenees / English Shepherd / Mixed (long coat)

Hank is the best boy! He was found wondering the streets, either left behind, or lost, but no one showed up at the shelter to claim him. He is so friendly and affectionate and gentle. We believe him to be only about 3 years old and a lean, 70 lbs at this time. He could use a good grooming, but all in all, is jsut an incredible family dog, for folks who like the bigger breeds. Hank is good with everyone he meets and with dogs - we can cat test. SO handsome in person. A must meet, for this great dog will steal your heart, for sure. 13. Harry
Adult · Male · Miniature Schnauzer / Mixed (medium coat)

Harry is the cutest guy, and super sweet and silly. His owner got sick, so he ended up at the shelter. His coat was a mess and his hair was almost glued over his eyes, but he is a lot better now and on his way to a beautiful coat (will take several more months of good nutrition). He has clearly been fed junk and not cared for very well for a long time. He has a little vision and hearling loss, but gets around fine and will follow us everywhere. He is a diamond in the rough, for sure. Harry is 7 to 9 years old and 17 lbs of affection. Harry is so gentle and loves being in the yard or going for a walk, and would do best if not alone all day without his humans. He does not shed and loves being with his person/people. Not an ounce of agression, but we prefer no very young kids who are not super experienced with smaller dogs. He is good in most any situation and good with dogs, and cats. A must meet, for this adorable little hypoallergenic boy is just the best. So much cuter than these photos. Sweater photos show him with his face groomed up a bit. Harry will steal your heart, for sure.

17. Candy Litter
Puppy (3 months 15 days) · Female · Labrador Retriever / Dalmatian / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Twizzler — A Little Sugar, a Little Spice, and a Whole Lot of Puppy Love!
Warning: Twizzler may be impossible to resist. ❤️
This gorgeous little girl from was born in June and she is every bit as sweet as her name suggests. With her adorable face, unique brindling on her feet and head, and a personality that seems to grow bigger by the day, Twizzler has a way of stealing hearts wherever she goes.
And this girl? She knows how to have fun!
Twizzler is a happy, playful puppy who thinks toys are fantastic, exploring is an adventure, and mealtime is basically the best event of the day. She LOVES to eat! Give her something interesting to investigate, a toy to chase, or a little puppy mischief to get into, and she is one happy girl.
But don't let all that puppy energy fool you—Twizzler has a very sweet and snuggly side, too. After she's finished zooming around and checking out the world, she's perfectly content to curl up, settle in, and soak up some serious cuddle time. ❤️
What's Her Recipe?
Twizzler's breed mix is said to include Labrador Retriever, Dalmatian, and Australian Shepherd, giving her a fun combination of traits and personality. Her mom weighs approximately 45 pounds, while dad is around 75 pounds, so Twizzler is expected to grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog.
In other words, that tiny puppy body is just the beginning. There's a whole lot of growing—and loving—to come!
She's Already Learning!
Twizzler is getting a fantastic head start in her foster home. She's working on all those important puppy skills, including:
Read more about Candy Litter
Potty training
Crate training
House manners
Sitting on cue
Learning not to jump
Living politely with other dogs
She's still a young puppy, so of course she's got plenty more to learn. But she's soaking it all in and discovering what it means to be a good little member of the family.
Twizzler is also being fostered with other dogs, giving her valuable experience navigating life in a busy household and learning from her four-legged foster friends.
So, Who Is Twizzler Looking For?
Her forever family!
Twizzler is looking for someone who will enjoy watching her grow, continue her training, keep her curious little puppy brain busy, and give her plenty of appropriate outlets for all that puppy energy.
She's looking for a family who understands that puppies aren't finished products—they're little works in progress with big personalities, lots of love to give, and plenty of lessons to learn along the way.

Meet Skittles — Sweet and Colorful
This handsome little guy was born in June 2026, and he is every bit as sweet as his name suggests—with LOTS of different facets to his developing personality! With that adorable face and beautiful brindle coat, Skittles is definitely an eye-catcher.
And this guy? He knows how to have FUN!
Skittles is a happy, playful puppy who thinks toys are fantastic, exploring is an adventure, and mealtimes are basically the greatest event of every single day.
Skittles LOVES to eat. ANYTHING.
He really doesn’t care what you call him—just DON’T CALL HIM LATE FOR DINNER! ️
A few treats and congratulations—you are now Skittles’ new best friend.
Read more about Candy Litter
He’s not saying his affection can be bought, exactly…but let’s just say snacks will move your application to the top of his personal list.
Skittles loves playing with his canine foster sister, Lily. They chase each other around the yard, and he happily shares his beloved squeaky toys with her. Even in the middle of a good romp, though, Skittles takes a break to check in with his foster mom. ❤️
He also watches Lily closely and takes his cues from her. Having a good canine role model has been a big help while this busy boy works on housetraining, leash walking, and crate training.
Now, about that exercise pen…
Apparently nobody explained to Skittles that the sides are supposed to keep puppies IN.
Skittles is a MASTER CLIMBER. He can scale his exercise pen like Sir Edmund Hillary scaling Mount Everest—only Hillary probably didn’t stop halfway up to see if anyone had a treat.
So yes, Skittles is curious. He’s adventurous. He’s busy. And he has places to go and people to see!
But don’t let all that puppy energy fool you. Skittles has a very sweet and snuggly side, too. After a day of zooming around the yard, chasing leaves, investigating every blade of grass and conducting important puppy business, he’s quite content to settle down for some serious cuddle time.
Although Skittles is crated when his foster mom can’t be with him, nighttime is another story. He sleeps happily snuggled in with Foster Mom and Lily. Apparently Skittles believes crate training is important—but bedtime accommodations are negotiable.
Skittles’ breed mix is said to include Labrador Retriever, Dalmatian, and Australian Shepherd, which may explain his fun combination of brains, curiosity, energy and personality. His mom weighs approximately 45 pounds, while dad is around 75 pounds, so Skittles is expected to grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog.
In other words, that puppy body is just the beginning. There’s a whole lot of growing—and loving—to come!
So, Who Is Skittles Looking For?
His forever family!
Skittles is looking for someone who will enjoy watching him grow, continue his training, keep that curious puppy brain busy, and give him plenty of appropriate outlets for all that puppy energy.
He needs a family who understands that puppies aren’t finished products. They’re adorable little works in progress—with big personalities, lots of love to give, a few things left to learn…and, in Skittles’ case, an impressive ability to eat things and to climb things he probably shouldn’t.
And in return?
You’ll get a handsome brindle shadow, a champion snuggler, a professional squeaky-toy tester, a four-legged adventure buddy, an enthusiastic dinner companion, and one very happy boy who will think you hung the moon. ❤️
Just remember…
Keep the treats coming, the squeaky toys handy, and the exercise pen VERY tall.

Meet Lollipop!
Read more about Candy Litter
Sweet as her name and impossible not to love, Lollipop is a delightful mixed-breed puppy born in June. She is ready to find a family of her very own!
We are told this adorable girl is a unique blend of Labrador Retriever, Australian Shepherd, and Dalmatian, wrapped up in a cute 15-pound package that's still growing. With Mom weighing around 45 pounds and Dad around 75 pounds, Lollipop will likely be a wonderful medium-to-large-sized companion when fully grown.
Lollipop may be a little shy when you first meet her, but don't let that fool you. Once she feels comfortable, she'll become your little shadow, happily following you from room to room to see what you're doing. She has a gentle, easy going personality and is the perfect mix of playful and relaxed.
While she enjoys an occasional burst of puppy zoomies, most of the time you'll find Lollipop happily sniffing around the yard, investigating the world, or entertaining herself with her favorite toys. She's already doing great with many puppy basics. She settles nicely in her crate, walks wonderfully on a leash, gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, and even handles bath time like a champ.
Like any young puppy, she's still working on her house-training skills, but she's making progress every day and just needs a family willing to continue her puppy education with patience and consistency.
If you're looking for a sweet, gentle puppy who will blossom into a loyal best friend, Lollipop might be your perfect match. Give her a little time, a lot of love, and then watch this shy girl grow into the amazing companion she was meant to be!
Apply today and add a little sweetness to your life with Lollipop!

Puppy (4 months 4 days) · Female · Labrador Retriever / Dalmatian / Mixed (short coat)

Godiva is the sassy little gourd goblin, you never knew you were missing from your life! This 4-month-old lab/Dalmatian/Australian Shepherd mix is the life of the party with ears that have six different personalities and have their own Hulu Subscription. Don’t let her petite size fool you, she plays very well with dogs 3-4 times her size and weight.
Read more about Candy Litter
Godiva gets along great with both male and female dogs, and could really care less about the resident cats in her current foster home. We are still working on housetraining, but she is improving every day. Godiva is crate trained but will cry for a bit initially. She sleeps soundly in bed all night and is the best cuddle buddy. She knows sit; currently,we are working on a few other commands. She loves toys and playing fetch.
Godiva is all around a very good puppy. She has her moments of being a little crazy (but very funny and silly to watch) and then her moments of sweet and lovable, cuddling on the couch watching TV. She is the BEST of both worlds! She's being fostered in Northumberland County, PA

LOVABLE MUTTS ADOPTION CENTER dogs are well socialized, very friendly, and in wonderful health. We stand by our pups/dogs, and give 10 days for a refund and almost always take our dogs back at any age of their lives (often depends on dog)! LMAC has an application screening process. All applicants are asked to provide vet references, personal references, and a home visit. We pride ourselves in matching up the right dog with the right home. Sometimes this happens quickly and sometimes it might take awhile. We hope you understand and are willing to wait for the perfect pup for your situation. We reserve the right to turn applicants down and to change our mind about a suitable match, for we are only concerned about what is best for our dogs. Also note that we arrange our visiting hours around your schedule, as this is a private, in home facility. We respond to all inquiries promptly, so if you have any trouble sending us an email, or have not heard back from us within 24 hours, please, CONTACT US AGAIN and check your spam! (We all know how emails can be at times!) Our dogs are spayed or neutered (if old enough), up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested, and free of fleas and ticks. We temperament test our dogs and they are all suitable for many family situations. Our dogs are well mannered, know some basic commands, and are usually housebroken within a week of being with us (if old enough). They are in our family/home situation at this time (not in kennels or crates, although most are crate trained) and are worked with daily. All of our dogs do well with other dogs and many do well with cats. Adoption donations vary with age, breed, vetting, and training of the dog, and range from $250 to $695 (most being $595). (We do not tend to place puppies or small dogs with kids under 6 and reserve the right to match who WE feel would be the best homes for our dogs.)

29. Cincy
Adult (1 year 6 months) · Female · Boxer (short coat)

Meet Colombia, now known as Cosette.
Cosette is about 1–2 years old, healthy and spayed, and she’s slowly gaining weight, confidence, and trust. She absolutely loves other dogs, and her canine friends have been so important in teaching her what it means to simply be a dog.
She’s still timid and unsure of new surroundings, and we don’t have any history with little kids. But she is a total sweetheart who is making progress every day.
For Cosette, a fenced yard is a must right now. She isn’t comfortable walking on a leash or navigating unfamiliar places yet, so having a safe space where she can take things at her own pace will be important.

She has already come SO far. Now she just needs someone willing to give her the time and patience to discover how good life can be.
9 Cincy dogs have found their people. Can we find Cosette hers?

*********
THEY’VE BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH. NOW IT’S THEIR TURN TO LEARN THAT LIFE CAN BE GOOD. ❤️
Please welcome Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil & Columbia.
These four beautiful girls were among the dogs rescued from a condemned property where they lived covered in fleas, feces and urine, with little to no socialization.
Right now, they’re still in the shelter—and they’re struggling. The noise, unfamiliar surroundings and sheer overwhelm have made it difficult for them to understand that people are here to help.
But their story isn’t over. ❤️
This week, they’ll leave the shelter. We’re hoping that with quiet spaces, patience, gentle care and time, we’ll begin to see these scared girls discover their brave.
We can’t wait to meet the dogs hiding underneath all that fear.
Welcome, girls. Your good life is coming. ❤️

30. Bailey Rose
Young (1 year 4 months) · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)

Meet Bailey Rose — Professional Face Licker, Part-Time Bug Hunter & Full-Time Good Girl!
Bailey Rose is a 1-year-4-month-old Lab mix who is ready to find her people — and if you get down on her level, prepare yourself… because your face is getting kissed!
Bailey Rose is super sweet, friendly, playful, and full of personality. She absolutely loves her humans and is great with children. Her favorite thing is being close to you, especially when you’re eye-level. Adults sitting on the floor? Yep, you’re getting kisses. Kids at her level? They’re getting kisses too! Bailey is convinced that eye-to-eye means it’s officially time for a facial. ❤️
Cats? Bailey has experience! She previously lived with cats and did well with them.
When it comes to other dogs, Bailey has a little more to say. She does enjoy other dogs, but she really loves having her humans all to herself. Because of that, a home without other dogs would likely be ideal, or she would do well with a very dog-savvy owner who understands canine body language and is willing to continue working with her on respecting another dog’s personal space.
Outside is where Bailey’s inner hunter comes out. She LOVES chasing bugs and flies, and we have a feeling that if given the chance, bunnies and squirrels would quickly become her next targets. ️
Bailey is crate trained AND house trained! She also has a hilarious little habit of “borrowing” slippers, shoes, and the kids’ toys. The good news? She doesn’t destroy them — she just seems to think everything in the house might actually belong to her.
When Bailey gets excited to see you, she may softly jump up to say hello. We’re working on her manners, and she’s learning that four paws on the floor is the way to go.
Bailey is the whole package: sweet, affectionate, playful, goofy, and incredibly loving. She’s the kind of dog who will keep you laughing, keep you company, and probably keep you wondering where your other slipper went.
Could Bailey Rose be your new best friend?
Please share Bailey’s story. Her person may be scrolling right past this post right now. ❤️

Adopting a dog in Lackawanna County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
