2. Lucille
Young (1 year) · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Hey there, I’m Lucille! No, not Lucille Ball, but I’m just as happy-go-lucky and ready to show you that life is a ball of cherries!
I’m a sleek, shiny Pit mix, about 1 year old, with long legs and a medium-sized frame. I’m young, playful and full of personality, with a heart that’s ready to love!
Ya see, I was abandoned by my original owners after they were evicted. They left me behind and just drove off, leaving me confused and wondering where my family had gone.
Read more about Lucille
Thankfully, the shelter staff in West Virginia saw what a special girl I am. They’ll tell ya I’m VERY SWEET, I know how to SIT and DOWN, and I take treats ever so gently. I’m also a fetch fanatic! Although, fair warning, you may not always get the ball back. I like to keep things interesting!
I love my people and hope for all the attention I was deprived of before. I’m ready to make up for lost time with plenty of cuddles, playtime and fun!
So if you’re up for laughter, adventure and lots of good times, look no further. Here I am!
I’m Lucille, and I’m ready to bring a little more happiness, a lot more love and plenty of life’s cherry-on-top moments into your home! ❤️

3. Hazel
Senior (8 years 11 months) · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Hey there, I’m Hazel! A beautiful gray Pitty mix, 9 years young, with a heart full of love and a story that just might tug at yours. ❤️
Ya see, after giving my human 9 years of unconditional love, I slipped outside one rainy night. Instead of coming out to get me, he just shut the door. Yep, left me out in the rain! When found, my owner was contacted. He said he just didn’t have time for me anymore as d signed me away to a shelter.
OUCH! Talk about a broken heart! Nine years of loyalty, snuggles and devotion, and suddenly I was yesterday’s news. I was one depressed little gal, wondering what I’d done wrong.
Read more about Hazel
But the folks at the pound saw something my owner had forgotten. I’m SWEETER THAN SWEET! I still have a spring in my step, a twinkle in my eye and a whole lotta LOVE to give!
When I caught my Freedom Ride to Molly’s Place, I had a few young bucks along for the trip. Good grief, those whippersnappers got on my last nerve at first! But I’ve loosened up, joined in playtime, soaked up some sunshine and even learned to enjoy hanging out with the youngsters. No issues with other doggies here! Guess this old gal still knows how ta have a good time!
And don’t let my age fool ya! No senior moments here! I know how to SIT, take treats ever so GENTLY and walk pretty darn well on a leash. B
Now, I will admit, I’m a bit of a Velcro gal. After being left behind once, I’d much rather tag along with my family than sit home wondering where everybody went. I’m a people-loving, lap-warming, snuggle-bug kinda girl!
And with winter right around the corner, WHO NEEDS AN ELECTRIC BLANKET WHEN YA GOT HAZEL? I’ll keep ya warm n toasty! I also understand that the BEST things in life are love, loyalty and a comfy place beside my human.
So COME ON! Get off yer duff and come get this girl! Nine years old doesn’t mean my story is over. It just means I’m ready for the BEST CHAPTER YET!
I’m Hazel, and I may be a senior, but my LOVE has NO EXPIRATION DATE! ❤️

4. Mickey
Young (1 year) · Male · Bulldog / Mixed (short coat)

How many pooches make this kinda impression at a vet office? “This is your Diamond!! A great boy, The vet gushed over his affectionate nature w/all the vet techs when he was there for his neuter.” Yep, no kidding!
Hey, I’m Mickey, NO, NOT Mickey the mouse! I’m the real deal! I’m a “Bully Breed” boy, skinny right now, but will fill out to be on the larger side with the care here at Molly’s Place.
Read more about Mickey
Found in WV trying to get into a nearby home and having to foraging for food in trash cans, I was just about starving and longed for human attention! I also had a “Bald Rear End" (aka a skin condition). I followed a dog walker home certain I had found a friend.. sadly, because of my breed, he initially was intimidated. “A loose bully?” YIKES! But with my "Over the Top" friendly and playful demeanor, it took a minute to show him I was a “Good Old Boy” at heart.
Taken to the shelter, I got food and skin testing done. Guess what? Skin scrapings was NEGATIVE, just uncared for allergies while out n about starving.
On the mend now, looking better every day, I’ve shown I’m good with other dogs, (can be cat tested if needed). I do run and play chase, but I'm a little dopier than other’s my age.. I’m more of a “Lope along kind a guy”! I’ve got a gentle demeaner, take treats nicely and am great in a car.
SUPER friendly with people, I really can be hugged and cuddled, but have yet to meet little kids, so that’s an unknown.
I’m truly a “diamond” just waiting to shine.. just need someone to call my own, give me a chance and a warm someone to snuggle up for loving this winter. Could that be with you?

6. Nicolas
Adult (3 years 2 months) · Male · Havanese / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed

Age: 3 years
Size: 11 lbs
Estimated breed: Havanese/Poodle mix
Lives with: Dogs, cats, older kids
From my foster:
Nick is a sweet and active little dog. As soon as I met him, he started giving me kisses. He has adapted quickly in his foster home with much larger, 15-year-old dog, Sami, and two cats. He wants to get to know the female cat, but she denies him her friendship! He retreats to his crate when rejected by her. He is always curious and friendly with both pets.
Read more about Nicolas
Chew toys are important to him. He takes them all to his bed, along with the older dog’s worn-out stuffed animals. And you might find that he hoarded a sock in there! He likes small toys, including Kongs and hardened bones. Sometimes he runs circles around the house, throws and chases the Kong, even engages old Sami in a bit of fun chasing. He does object to her taking his bone, rightfully so. He explores the back yard more every day and likes to be outside. When he’s done playing and running, he naps!
Nick quickly learned to go for walks with and without the other dog and adapted well to wearing a harness.
He hasn’t been timid when meeting my young granddaughter and the neighbors: he went right up to them to be petted. He loves affection and gives it back. So far, he appears to be house trained, but it’s only been three days, as I write this, so no guarantees. He easily accepts being in his crate when I leave the house.
This little guy could be an only dog with people who will give him lots of attention and play with him, or he could live with other friendly dogs and cats. Children should probably be 10 years and older, due to his size.
From abandoned to treasured, Nicolas is ready for his new start! Our southern shelter partner witnessed Nicolas being left in a crate, inside a dog park in front of the shelter after hours. Thank goodness a volunteer was there to witness this happening, otherwise Nicolas would have spent the night terrified and alone in a crate outside. Fortunately, he was quickly secured and brought to the safety of a local foster home!
Nicolas is 3-years old and weighs around 11 lbs. He is a shy but friendly little guy who gets comfort from humans, dogs, and cats alike! In his SC foster home, he actually befriended an indoor pig and was often caught cuddling on a dog bed with his swine bestie. Nicolas has super soft fur and doesn't shed much, but we'll never promise that he's "hypoallergenic" since we don't know for sure what he's mixed with. Nicolas would love a home with a friendly dog or cat in residence to help show him the ropes and give him confidence, but he might do okay as the only dog too, as long as his humans are patient and give him time and space to flourish.
To adopt Nicolas, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application
Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.
Nicolas' adoption fee is $350, which covers his neuter, vaccines, 4dx test, and monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

7. Mackie
Adult (3 years) · Male · Chihuahua / Pomeranian / Mixed

Age: 3 years
Size: 6.2 lbs
Estimated breed: Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix
Compatible with: Cats, small/gentle dogs
Meet Mackie, the chillest little guy! After being found as a stray in Kensington, he was taken to ACCT Philly. We're not quite sure how such a tiny little guy found himself alone in the big city of Philadelphia, but we're so glad he's safe with us now!
Read more about Mackie
Mackie is 3 years old and weighs 6 lbs. He is a super chill, easy-going little guy. He is shy at first with new people and dogs but makes friends after a few minutes! Like your typical chihuahua, he bonds quickly and fiercely to his people and is the stereotypical lap dog. Mackie has met cats and been unphased by them, even ignoring one who hissed loudly in his face. He's met several dogs and loves ones who are his size and on the gentle side like him! He's not a fan of the crate and would much rather be with you, touching you, on you, etc. He's done well with pottying outside but does mark inside, so he wears a belly band currently. Once he's neutered on Oct 27, this behavior should significantly decrease or cease entirely! Due to his small and delicate size, he will not be placed with children under 10 years old.
Mackie will be neutered on October 27 and ready to join his forever family then. To adopt Mackie, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application
Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.
Mackie's adoption fee is $350, which includes his neuter, vaccines, microchip, and monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

8. Rainy
Adult (6 years 2 months) · Female · German Shorthaired Pointer (medium coat)

Meet Rainey one of our Momma Dogs.
Rainey has been wonderful so far! She knows sit and down, settles in for cuddles, and walks pretty well on a leash. She is house trained. She is a counter surfer (We're working on it) and has opened the toilet lid to get a drink. (That was a first!) She's still in the recovery time from her HW treatment, but she will eventually love long walks and playing with toys. For now she enjoys a good bone and being with her people. She's good with kids and other dogs.

15. Cosmo
Puppy (3 months 14 days) · Female · Caucasian Sheepdog (Caucasian Ovtcharka) (long coat)

Please take the time to research the breed before considering fostering/adoption. Because of their immense size, strength, and strong guardian instincts, they are generally not recommended for first-time or novice owners. They require experienced handling, early socialization, and ongoing training throughout their lives.
Meet Cosmo...an Independent Spirit, Born Guardian
Read more about Cosmo
Personality: Cosmo is a spirited, adventurous, intelligent Caucasian Shepherd puppy with a big personality and natural guardian instincts. She absolutely loves having an older sister and brother! She has already learned so much from watching them, including manners and how to look after and protect the herd. She is observant, confident, curious, and always ready for her next adventure. This is a working guardian breed, and her protective instincts are already beginning to develop. She needs a family who understands that these traits are part of who she is and is prepared to guide them through consistent training, structure, and responsible socialization.
Cosmo is also very independent and already shows the self-assured nature of her breed. She likes to explore, observe, and figure things out for herself. She isn't just looking for someone to entertain her—she has a mind of her own and natural instincts that will need to be guided by someone who understands guardian breeds. Her independence is part of what makes her special, but it also means she'll need a patient, confident owner who can provide consistent boundaries without expecting a people-pleasing dog.
Favorite Activities: Running, exploring, playing, and going on wild adventures ALL DAY LONG! Cosmo loves having room to roam, following the animals, observing her surroundings, and learning from the older dogs. She enjoys being involved in everything happening around the homestead and is happiest when she has space to explore and a job to do. She is an energetic puppy who needs plenty of room, stimulation, and appropriate outlets for her natural instincts. A small yard or city lifestyle would not be a good fit for her.
Medical Issues: No known medical issues reported at this time.
What would be the best kind of home: Cosmo needs an experienced, committed home that understands and respects the Caucasian Shepherd breed. A rural property, farm, or homestead with substantial, secure fencing and plenty of room to roam would be ideal. She is accustomed to being around animals and developing her natural livestock guardian instincts, so a home that understands working guardian dogs would be best.
She would benefit from having confident, well-mannered canine companions who can help show her the ropes, although any resident dogs must be a good match for her as she matures. Her new family must be prepared to provide consistent boundaries, structured training, early and ongoing socialization, and responsible management of her developing protective instincts.
Food is a serious business for Cosmo! She has already shown resource-guarding tendencies, so her adopters must understand resource guarding and be willing to manage it safely and work on it through appropriate, positive training. She needs careful management around food and other valuable resources, not punishment or confrontational attempts to take things away.
Cosmo is adorable, playful, and full of adventure, but she is also growing into a powerful guardian breed with strong instincts. She is not a fit for an apartment, a small city yard, or a home unfamiliar with large livestock guardian breeds. She needs space, knowledgeable handling, and a family willing to help her grow into a confident, stable, well-managed adult dog.

Puppy (3 months 29 days) · Female · Caucasian Sheepdog (Caucasian Ovtcharka) (long coat)

Please take the time to research the breed before considering fostering/adoption. Because of their immense size, strength, and strong guardian instincts, they are generally not recommended for first-time or novice owners. They require experienced handling, early socialization, and ongoing training throughout their lives.
GAMORA HAS ENTERED THE CHAT… AND SHE’S HERE TO GUARD THE GALAXY!
Meet Gamora, the fluffy little force of nature who takes her name VERY seriously. She may look like an adorable teddy bear right now, but don't let those puppy eyes fool you… this girl is training for a lifetime position as Guardian of the Galaxy!
Read more about Gamora
Gamora is a Caucasian Shepherd puppy available for adoption through Mastiffs to Mutts, and she's looking for a special family ready to help her grow into the magnificent guardian she's meant to be.
Fair warning: That cute, fluffy puppy is going to grow into a VERY LARGE, VERY STRONG, VERY CONFIDENT, and VERY OPINIONATED dog. Think security system with fur, a big personality, a mouth full of teeth and absolutely no concept of personal space.
PERSONALITY: SMALL PUPPY, BIG GUARDIAN ENERGY
Gamora is adventurous, intelligent, confident, and already showing off those natural guardian instincts! She's the little sister who knows exactly which buttons to push on her big brothers… and pushes EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
She keeps her older brothers on their toes, loves a good wrestling session, and believes the universe revolves around her next adventure.
She's also a smart cookie! Gamora already knows:
Sit
Down
“Me”
Wait patiently for her food
Wait before exiting the house
Walks nicely on a leash
Who says a galaxy guardian can't have manners?!
FAVORITE ACTIVITIES:
Exploring the galaxy… or at least the campground!
Camping trips and outdoor adventures
Attending community events and checking out the world
Playing with her big brothers and keeping them humble
Learning new things and showing off those brains
Practicing her future job of keeping an eye on her surroundings
Gamora has already experienced camping trips and several community events, giving her valuable opportunities to experience new people, places, and situations. She's a curious girl with a whole world to discover!
HER FOREVER HOME: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!
Here's where we get serious, Guardians.
The Caucasian Shepherd is a powerful livestock guardian breed developed to protect and watch over its territory. These dogs are often naturally protective, independent, strong-willed, and suspicious of unfamiliar people or animals. Those traits aren't flaws to train away — they're part of the breed.
Gamora needs a family who understands that the adorable puppy stage is temporary, but the guardian instincts are here to stay.
Her ideal forever home will include:
ROOM TO ROAM: A home with plenty of appropriate space and secure fencing to safely accommodate a giant guardian breed.
A COMMITMENT TO TRAINING: Gamora is already learning, and her education must continue with consistency, structure, clear boundaries, and positive, appropriate guidance.
EARLY & LIFELONG SOCIALIZATION: She needs continued, thoughtful exposure to different people, environments, sounds, and experiences. Socialization means helping her feel comfortable and behave appropriately around the world — not expecting her to love every stranger or every dog.
RESPECT FOR HER FUTURE SIZE & STRENGTH: This girl will grow into a powerful dog capable of easily overwhelming an inexperienced handler. Her family must be prepared to manage her strength responsibly and maintain safe, controlled interactions throughout her life.
BREED KNOWLEDGE & REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS: Gamora needs someone who appreciates a working guardian breed and understands that independence, territorial behavior, and protective instincts require responsible management — not wishful thinking.
A LIFETIME PROMISE: She needs a family who will guide her, advocate for her, and love her through puppy shenanigans, teen

Hi, I'm Brinx and I'm on the brinx of losing my ever loving mind.
Read more about Brinx
I was raised in a home since I was a puppy. .... then all of a sudden, right before my 1st birthday, I wasn't wanted anymore. I was being given away o Nextdoor,. Luckily, Molly's Place saw the post and said they's take me. I was Soooo scared and shell shocked when I first came here as my entire world had been turned upside down. I lost my home, my family, everything I knew and loved. Now, I'm living in a kennel and going a little stir crazy. It's a big kennel, I've get out for exercise and play with other dogs AND I get cookies every day. But there's nothing better than the love of a home and family to call my own, know they are there for me and know I'll get loving/cuddling and all that mushy stuff.
I'm a 1 year old, BLUE Pit (Blue/Gray) (medium in size, short and stalky). I'm good with other dogs and people and I grew up in a home with kids. (can be cat tested upon request)
I'm a dog missing the love of a family fur sure! So, if you're a family missing the love of a dog, then maybe we're meant for each other. I sure would love to meet ya!
I'm ready and willing to spend the winter nights snuggling up, watching TV and keeping you warm in bed. Brinx wants to bring her love to you!

18. Mia
Adult (1 year 6 months) · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Surrendered by a WV family who loved their unaltered male boxers and didn't alter little me... I found myself in a "family way". Unknown when I'd deliver, Molly's Place stepped in just in the nick of time. Named "Mama Mia" at MP, I had my litter of "10" pups a day or so after arrival. All this and I was just over a year old (now thought to be 1 1/2 years old and medium sized dog)
Read more about Mia
Thought to be a pit mix of something, I truly was a loving mom sharing my affection with all 10 pups equally. As they grew, I taught them how to run, play chase, do zoomies and enjoy life. Dad was for sure a pure Boxer. All pups looked like dad but have my tender, soft and loving demeaner.
Now spayed and with my "girlish figure" returned, my cute face and tipped ears show my joy of motherhood yet hope for a future for all of my pups and myself. All but one pup has been adopted, so hoping/praying we both get the chance and adopted soon as well.
I do love people, older kids and other dogs. Running, playing with my person or other 4 leggeds in my new home will allow me to have my puppyhood I missed.
How about taking a chance on a gal who has given so much, to her pups and prior owners who did her wrong. A home with love, a fenced in yard to run free and a person/people to call my own furever family would be my dream.
Please consider adopting Mia, give her a chance, allow her to blossom into the best gal ever with your help.

19. Pig Pen
Adult (5 years) · Female · Boston Terrier (short coat)

Did ya ever see a person/dog who's name was just so so perfect? Well, That's me. I'm known as "Pig Pen"! Like in the cartoon Charlie Brown, Dirt, mud puddles in my case. seems to pull me in! SPLASH!!!
As a 5 year old gale, small PURE Boston Terrier I've paid my dues being and have been surrendered to Molly's Place by a breeder. I'm done being a machine for money. Now good with some dogs once acclimated, I really love people and older kids. I do need a fenced in yard to allow me the freedom I never had.
Read more about Pig Pen
After all those years, who's going to deny me my pleasures in life.. loving people and "loving to bask in a puddle of mud"! Surely someone out there is ready and willing to love, have some good laughs and enjoy giving me bubble baths as I gladly smile ear to ear.
I'm working really hard on my house training and ALMOST there. So, you can teach an older dog new tricks! Hey, maybe you can teach me to enjoy walking past a puddle without trying to jump in! Ok, I do admit I can stay clean, but don't tell anyone....
Anyway, I'm Pig Pen, a gal with attitude, love to give and ready to make the world a funnier place for whoever adopts me!

20. Paris
Adult (2 years 2 months) · Female · Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed

Age: 2 years
Size: 9 lbs
Estimated breed: Chihuahua/Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher mix
Must have friendly resident dog in the home already
Paris entered the shelter in August along with 20 other dogs who were confiscated from a home. That same night, she gave birth to 4 tiny puppies! We quickly got her into foster care, where she diligently raised her puppies. Now that they have joined foster-to-adopt homes, it's Paris' turn to find a forever family!
Read more about Paris
Paris is around 2 years old, weighs 9 lbs, and is an estimated chihuahua/dachshund/miniature pinscher mix. She is a shy but always sweet girl who thrives when she's surrounded by other dogs, so she'll need a home with at least one other friendly dog! Once she warms up, get ready for a constant companion who demands pets and cuddles all the time! Paris loves giving kisses, getting belly rubs, and just generally being on, around, and near her people at all times. Once cuddle time is over, she'll make herself comfortable in her nesting dog bed, but be careful - she's a constant burrower and you'll often have to peel back multiple layers of blankets to find where she's hiding! Paris is comfortable in the crate overnight and when foster mom leaves the house, but she'd also be very happy to join you in bed if that's more your style. She's doing very well with house training, but sometimes she forgets to go when outside because she's too busy begging for your attention. She does well with frequent breaks and monitoring when she's outside to make sure she handles business!
Paris is in foster care with five other dogs of all different shapes and sizes. She does well with them all, and can often be found cuddling up to them on the couch or trying to invite play, even with the much larger pittie! Paris must be placed in a home with at least one friendly resident dog, but her ideal home would have at least two or three other dogs in it. She thrives in the comfort of a pack! Since she is shy, children must be aged 10 or up. We have not seen her with cats but can test her with them for an approved adopter.
Paris will be spayed on December 15, after which she'll be ready to join her own forever family.
To adopt Paris, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application
Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.
Paris' adoption fee is $350, which includes her spay, vaccines, microchip, and monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

21. Hanna
Puppy (4 months 29 days) · Female · Shepherd / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Hanna!
Hanna is a sweet sister to Raven, Murphy, and Ringo, who have all found their forever homes! We’ve taken a little extra time getting to know Hanna because she’s a bit different from her siblings—and we want to make sure we find the perfect home for her.
At about 4½ months old, Hanna is a Shepherd/Lab mix who we expect to grow into a big girl!
Hanna absolutely LOVES people and happily greets strangers with a wagging tail! She’s a total people pup. She’s also a wonderfully independent girl who entertains herself well, so she doesn’t need to be the center of attention every minute of the day!
Read more about Hanna
When it comes to other dogs, Hanna prefers calm, respectful friends who don’t get all up in her business. We suspect her scarred nose may be from a bad experience with another dog, so she can be cautious around rambunctious dogs.
The good news? Hanna is currently attending doggie daycare 3 days a week and working with a trainer on socialization—and she’s doing GREAT! We’d love for her new family to continue this so she can keep building positive experiences with other dogs.
She’s doing great with house training, is crate trained (although she’d like to file a formal complaint about the crate ), and is becoming quite the car-riding pro!
We’re looking for a dog-savvy family, preferably one familiar with Shepherds. Kids 8+ would be best. She may not be the dog for everyone, but for the right family, Hanna is going to be one very special girl. ❤️
Now we just need to find her people! Hanna is spayed, microchipped, current on rabies, distemper, bordatella and lepto vaccines, current on preventative, and had a fecal check. Her adoption fee is $450. If you are interested in Hanna, please submit an application on our website at https://worthytails.rescuegroups.org. Sampson's my name and Loving is my game. About 8 months old I'm thought ta be a tri colored Basenji mix little boy (will be a small/medium size little boy at this point). Probably won't grow much more so I'm definitely "Lap Size"! Anyway, I'm here ta tell you it's been said I'm sweeter than a piece of warm Blueberry Pie with ice cream! Can't beat that! I'm a looker too with 1 ear up and 1 ear down! :)

Turned into the shelter being tagged not good with kids as an issue, the shelter staff and Molly's Place can't figure out why... It's been tried to pull my tail, ears, lips and feet but I never ever reacted. I'm just saying my old family "Fibbed" but I'm sharing it just because... Heck, they even tried to bear huging me with no reaction what so ever... Not even a flinch. After a whole lot'a pull'n, prod'n and get'n no reaction, they finally gave up try'n ta figure it out. After all that drama, the shelter was run'n out of space for doggo's like me, so I was loaded on transport on my way to a better place, Molly's Place!
The truth of it is, I'm beyond sweet! I'm good with people, love other dogs and could be acclimated with cats. I walk great on leash, take treats gently and know basic commands like sit and down. I'm also very handsome and photogenic even if I do say so myself.
So if ya want a sweet good looking boy with lots of potential and mega personality, than look no further cause I'm you guy. I'll be there when ya call and ready to snuggle... Hurry up and get an application in!

26. Zuri
Young (7 months) · Female · Jack Russell Terrier / Border Collie / Mixed (short coat)

Welcome, Zuri! This sweet girl joins us from Parkersburg, WV, where she was an owner surrender. We believe she is a possibly a Jack Russell Terrier mixed with border collie?? She is somewhere between 6 and 7 months old and weighs 21 pounds. We don't think she will get too much bigger (maybe wider...lol).
Zuri is a social dog and has done well meeting new people. She may be hesitant for a couple of seconds, but then she's happy to meet you with a wagging tail! She has been around all sorts of sizes of dogs and has done well with all of them. She loves to play with other dogs, especially ones more her size, but she loves her people, too! The shelter has children volunteers who strictly come to play with the puppies, and Zuri was great with them.
Read more about Zuri
She also lived with a 3 year old child in her original home.
Being that she came from a home, she is well behaved in the house and will jump right into your car! She has had no accidents and seems to be housetrained, and does okay on a leash. The crate is not her favorite place, but most puppies don't seem to enjoy it in the beginning...lol.
We have also found she seems to be drawn to men. She follows her foster dad around the house and whimpers when he leaves. She is fine with women though!
Overall, Zuri is a very good pup! She is not a high-strung dog and is actually pretty chill. If she is allowed to sleep in bed, she will sleep all night long! She would much rather be snuggled up with her people than stuck in a crate. ❤️
Zuri is a sweet, fairly social, easygoing puppy who is ready to find her forever family. She has so much to offer and would make a wonderful addition to the right home! Zuri is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations and preventatives. Her adoption fee is $450. 27. Peppa
Senior (7 years 11 months) · Female · Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Peppa!
At 8 years old, this little lady has officially been caught in a very serious lie.
She spent quite some time convincing everyone that she needed to be carried everywhere and that her tiny legs simply weren’t up to the job.
Well… the truth is out.
Those legs work just fine. And now that her secret is exposed, she’s proving she can do so much more than ride around in someone’s arms.
Read more about Peppa
Of course, she still absolutely enjoys being a lap dog and soaking up attention. But she’s also discovered that walking around is pretty fun—and she’d be perfectly happy tagging along as your little hiking buddy. And when something suspicious happens? She’ll be right there on guard duty, ready to make sure everyone knows she takes her job VERY seriously.
She’s a wonderful little companion who does well with respectful children over 8, other dogs, and cats. She has the perfect mix of cuddly companion, adventurous sidekick, and pint-sized security system.
So if you’re looking for a dog who can
snuggle on the couch, hit the trails, and protect the household from absolutely nothing in particular
, this girl has you covered!

29. Slim Jim
Adult (4 years 9 months) · Male · Great Dane / Cane Corso Mastiff / Mixed (short coat)

Headline: Meet Slim Jim — Your Goofy, People‑Loving Velcro Sidekick!
Personality: Slim Jim is a goofy, people‑loving velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be close to his person. He follows you everywhere, curls himself into the tiniest ball imaginable, and can twist into hilarious pretzel‑like positions that keep you laughing daily. He’s full of affection, full of personality, and full of love.
He’s an energetic walker who can easily do five miles and still have a round of zoomies left in him, but once he’s had his fun, he becomes a true nap king — happiest snuggled up beside you or tucked into one of his signature curled‑up poses.
Read more about Slim Jim
Slim Jim does have separation anxiety and, at this stage, cannot be left alone. He thrives with someone who is home often and can give him the reassurance and structure he needs. He’s not able to tolerate a crate when left alone, but with patience and consistency, he has great potential to improve. For now, he needs a home where he won’t be left solo and can enjoy the comfort of being near his person.
Slim Jim is a loyal shadow, a silly companion, and a deeply affectionate dog who brings warmth, laughter, and devotion to every day. He’s looking for someone who wants a true sidekick — a dog who will adore them endlessly.
Favorite Activities: Slim Jim’s favorite things in life are wonderfully simple: long walks, cozy naps, and chewing on a good bone. He loves getting out for his daily strolls and can happily go for miles, taking in all the sights and smells. Once he’s had his exercise (and a round of zoomies), he’s all about settling in for a nap — preferably curled up in one of his signature tiny‑ball positions. When he’s awake and relaxing, a sturdy chew bone is his go‑to pastime. As long as he’s close to his person, Slim Jim is content, happy, and fully in his element.
Medical Issues: Slim Jim arrived in rescue extremely underweight, but with proper care and nutrition he has made a strong recovery. He is healthy, gaining steadily, and just needs to continue putting on a bit more weight. He has no ongoing medical issues and is thriving in foster care.
What would be the best kind of home: Slim Jim is looking for a patient, adult home that can offer structure, consistency, and plenty of companionship. Because he is a big, enthusiastic 75‑lb lap‑dog who still jumps when excited, he would do best in a home without young children; respectful kids 12+ may be appropriate. He is dog‑reactive and prefers to have his person all to himself, so he is best as an only dog, though a calm, respectful dog may be possible with careful introductions. Cats are unknown.
Slim Jim cannot be left alone at this time and needs someone who is home consistently. A two‑adult household would be ideal so he can share his affection and not become overly dependent on just one person. He loves all people and bonds quickly.
Before rescue, Slim Jim lived on the streets and had to survive on his own. In the last few months, he has been learning how to be a household dog — and despite his tough past, he shows no ill will toward humans. He is still worried that his next meal may not be guaranteed, so structure, predictable routines, and trust‑building are key to helping him feel secure.
He enjoys long walks and currently gets all his exercise on leash, but he would love a fenced yard to explore. A secure 6' fence is recommended, as he is agile and athletic. Although estimated to be around four years old, Slim Jim still has some puppy energy and enthusiasm. He is food‑motivated, eager to please, and will thrive with continued basic training to help him improve his manners (jumping, counter surfing, and leash reactivity).
Additional Comments: Slim Jim’s life has changed completely in just three months. After surviving on the streets and having to fend for himself, he is now learning how to be a loved, indoor family dog — and he is blossoming. Despite his tough past, he shows no ill will toward people and greets everyone wit

Adopting a dog in Mifflin County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
