Hi there! My name is Zeke, and I am a 5-month-old Golden Retriever mix with a heart full of joy and a wagging tail that never stops! My foster family says I am the ultimate happy-go-lucky boy. I am incredibly easygoing, which means I love to go with the flow, whether we are exploring the world or hanging out at home. I am a super smart puppy. I am very eager to please and absolutely love making you proud, especially when you tell me what a good boy I am! I learn new things super fast, which makes training a blast. Right now, I am working really hard on my potty training, and I am getting better every single day. When it comes to playtime, I am an expert! My absolute favorite things to do are chasing balls and sticks, playing with my canine friends, and I like to watch the birds fly around in my yard. I get along great with other dogs and kids, making me a perfect candidate for a fun, active family. I haven't met any cats yet, so that would be a new adventure for us to navigate together. After a busy day of playing and learning, there is nothing I love more than a good cuddle session. I will happily curl up right next to you to show you how affectionate I am. I am already neutered and fully up to date on all of my vaccines, so I am completely ready to find my forever family. Could that be you?

Hi, I'm Birdie! I am a five-month-old Blue Tick Hound and Golden Retriever mix, and I am officially looking for my forever family! My mom was a Blue Tick Hound and my dad was a Golden Retriever, which my foster family says makes me the perfect mix of super smart, highly observant, and extra cute. I have a loving heart and a totally outgoing personality. In fact, I have never met a stranger in my whole life! I absolutely love playing with other dogs and I do amazing with kids. Paisley came into a pound in MS pregnant. All her puppies were weaned and adopted. Paisley is crate trained, leash trained and appears to be potty trained. She loves puppies and gets along with other dogs. Meet Knight. This senior boy has had the benefit of lots of love for his entire life but unfortunately, the family he was raised with had some changes and one of the resident dogs became highly aggressive to him. His former owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him to rescue for his own safety, and we've brought him into foster care. He is a Boston/Pekingese mix, and an absolute, sweetheart! Knight is very well socialized and meets people well, he's great with other dogs, he is loving, affectionate and a really nice dog. We've gotten him to the vet to get him up-to-date on shots and have scheduled his neuter, and he's looking for a safe and loving retirement home.

6. Bash
Young (1 year 5 months) · Female · Pug (medium coat) · 24 mi from Providence

MEET BASH!
This tiny 11 pound 1 year old peanut is full of playful energy and ready to find her forever family. She can be shy at first, but warms up quickly to people and other pets. Then be prepared, she is ready for a game of tug of war and some tasty apple snacks!
Read more about Bash
Bash was surrendered to ProNE when her owner was unable to care for her needs. She has since been spayed and has done very well adapting to life in her foster home. She gets along well with the other pugs and cat in her foster home. One of her favorite games is playfully stealing their toys and giving chase or soliciting some tug of war challenges. She can be a little "mouthy" during play, not uncommon at her age, but it may be interpreted as biting for very small children, so older dog savvy kids would do best with her.
Bash is house trained, does well on the leash, loves her walks, and loves to go on adventures in the car. She is also crate trained. It was reported that in her first home she liked to escape her enclosure. Any areas off limits to her in a home should be safely secured. Bash is easily redirected but left to her own devices she'll happily "refinish" furniture. Another thing to keep in mind for unsupervised spaces.
She enjoys playing in the yard and is curious to explore all the areas of the fenced yard in her foster home. We would love to see her continue to enjoy that activity, but an unfenced or no yard is not a deal breaker as long as she gets plenty of time to explore the world on leash.
Bash is a healthy young dog. She has been maintained on flea tick and heartworm preventatives and is UTD on vaccines. She eats a diet of Blue Buffalo Basics Skin and stomach care and tolerates it well. She enjoys yogurt, chicken and ground beef toppers. She shows no food aggression or resource guarding tendencies with the other dogs in her foster home.
Not a big barker; she would do well in a quiet neighborhood as loud noises can frighten her. She would be fine in an active household as she loves the stimulation of interacting will all of the family members currently caring for her. Bash is a fun, energetic, sweet girl. We are looking forward to finding her a place where she can create many happy memories with her new family and receive all of the love, care and stimulation a young pug craves. Who's up for the challenge?

10. Neville
Adult (8 years 1 month) · Male · Pug (medium coat) · 24 mi from Providence

MEET NEVILLE!
Affectionately known as Me Nevie! This handsome 8-year-old pug is a laid-back gentleman looking for a forever home where he can enjoy the simple pleasures in life. At about 35 pounds, Neville is a calm, affectionate boy who loves spending time with his people, lounging on the porch, watching TV, and taking short strolls around the neighborhood. He came to us after his owner had some cognitive changes that left Neville needing more consistent care. He has adapted very well in his foster home, and we are seeking placement in a calm, predictable home where his future needs can be met.
Read more about Neville
Neville is a friendly, adaptable guy with a gentle soul. He gets along well with other dogs, barks at cats and cat statues, has done well meeting children, and is friendly and welcoming with new people. While he enjoys companionship, he's not overly demanding and is happy to simply hang out nearby. He would likely be ok in a household where his people worked outside the home as long as you leave to TV on for him. One of his favorite possessions is his beloved pink heart stuffy, and if he really likes you, he may jump up to give you a sweet pug kiss. He is also a big fan of butt pats and dog-safe vegetables.
Like many pugs, Neville knows what he likes and doesn't like. Car rides are not his favorite activity, and he strongly prefers to keep all four paws on the ground. He does a little better when riding in a crate but if you are looking for an adventure buddy Neville may not be your guy. Being picked up has never been his thing, even since puppyhood, so his future family will need to respect his boundaries and let him move at his own pace. When he's unhappy, he may grumble to let you know, but he's made great progress in foster care and has successfully handled recent veterinary visits with a patient, understanding team. He has needed a pre-med for grooming and vet appointments in the past. This should be something to consider with your veterinarian. Considering his distaste for car rides, living near your vet’s office or using a mobile vet would be a great option.
Neville is food motivated and knows commands such as sit and come, although sometimes he chooses to exercise a little selective hearing. He enjoys a predictable routine, currently eats a weight-management diet, and has recently shed a few pounds while in foster care which has him feeling great. His hearing, vision, and mobility are all on point. He has a history of ear infections and was treated recently with a long-acting single dose medication.
The ideal home for Neville is a quiet one where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by love. He would thrive with people who appreciate a slower pace of life: relaxing evenings on the couch, time spent outdoors watching wildlife, and leisurely walks. A canine companion could be a wonderful bonus, especially a calm, friendly dog to nap and hang out with. Neville has been sleeping in his crate at night, he formerly slept with his person and we are pretty sure he would not object to resuming that practice.
If you're looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who asks for little more than love, comfort, and a cozy spot beside you, Neville may be your perfect match. This charming senior gentleman is ready to spend the rest of his years being your loyal couch buddy, porch companion, and best friend.
ADOPTION FEE: $400.00 based on age

Ace has arrived in RI!! He acts like he has always been here. He is outgoing, loves people including young children. Ignores cats and is great around older dogs. Younger dogs seem to be a little too much for him. He is fully potty trained and acts like a big dog in a tiny body! He does have some separation anxiety but is not destructive. He would do best in a home with someone who can be with him most of the day. He loves hiking, car rides, going anywhere and everywhere with his people. He does need a home where he can share a couch and a bed at night with. If you are looking for a little shadow who just wants to be loved, Ace might be the one for you!

Adopting a dog with children in Providence
Bring the whole family to meet the dog before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the dog behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the dog come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the dog alone while it's eating or sleeping. Give the dog a bed or crate of their own to retreat to, and always supervise young children with a new dog.
Relaxed adult dogs are often a better match for young children than puppies, which jump up, nip and chew while they learn.
