Zora… a name meaning dawn or morning light, symbolizing new beginnings and hope. And that’s exactly what this sweet girl deserves. ❤️

Unrecognizable from the day she arrived, Zora has blossomed into a beautiful, happy girl who is ready to enjoy her retirement years surrounded by love. Read more about Zora

Zora is currently looking for a foster-to-adopt home while she awaits removal of her remaining smaller mammary masses. She also has a history of bladder stones and will need to remain on a prescription urinary stone dissolution diet, such as Hill’s c/d or Royal Canin Urinary SO, for life to help manage her condition.

6. Rocket

Adult · Male · Maltese (medium coat) · 99 mi from Goose Creek

Adoption fee: $450.00

Read more about Rocket

Rocket
Hi, it’s me, Rocket. I’m a purebred Maltese guy, only 4 years old and not quite 7 pounds. All my doctor’s visits are done, and I have a clean bill of health and sparkly white teeth. Of course, they all fell in love with me there!
I’m working on my house manners but will need your support to get me outside often. I’ve been doing my “big business” outside. I’m learning not to lift my leg inside and I can wear a belly band until I get the hang of it. I like exploring in the fenced yard and doing my zoomies. I’m very fast - like a rocket! I like walking on the leash now too. I’ve been sleeping in my crate at night and never had an accident. I wouldn’t mind sleeping in your bed with you, though.
I’m athletic and can jump and climb. Sometimes, I need to be reminded of the “no” places. May I suggest that you don’t leave goodies on the coffee table unless you’re willing to share them?
I used to be a “stud muffin” but those days are over. Now I want to BE somebody’s baby. I love to be loved! People are my favorite thing, although food and treats are a close second. I mostly get along with other dogs (cats unknown), but I like all the attention and would rather not share your lap, so maybe I could be your “one and only”.

Rocket, based on his age, falls under our Seniors for Seniors policy:
The age rescue that SCMR is happy to consider adopting to applicants that are 70+ years old is 7+. Full policy details, please visit our website.

https://www.scmradoption.com/policies
I’m in my foster home in Little River, SC right now waiting for you.

7. Libby

Senior · Female · Chihuahua · 31 mi from Goose Creek

Meet Libby — Professional Napper & Part-Time Chihuahua

Libby is a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix who has perfected the art of taking life at her own pace. Her favorite activities include lounging on her dog bed, enjoying the comforts of home, and generally reminding everyone that she has absolutely no interest in being rushed. ❤️

Libby does have some special medical needs. She has a severe case of luxating patellas and significant arthritis, but don’t let that fool you — this little lady gets around remarkably well! She will need to continue monthly Librela injections to help keep her comfortable and manage her arthritis.

Read more about Libby

At about 5 pounds, Libby is a tiny girl. She is currently a little thin, but because her joints are already significantly compromised, we do not want her gaining additional weight. Keeping her at a healthy, lean weight is important to help minimize stress on her already stretched-thin joints.

And then there’s Libby’s personality.

In true Chihuahua fashion, Libby is not exactly a “hello, stranger, let’s be best friends!” kind of girl. She can be very standoffish when meeting new people and will need time to decide that you are worthy of her trust. She is looking for someone who understands that relationships take time and is willing to let her come around at her own pace.

Once she settles in, Libby is actually a very easy little companion. She doesn’t need a busy lifestyle or a packed social calendar. Give her a comfortable dog bed, a peaceful home, and someone willing to respect her boundaries, and she’ll be perfectly content to snooze the day away.

Because of her age, medical needs, and desire for a calm environment, Libby needs a patient home with no children under 15.

Libby is looking for:

A patient adopter who will allow her time to decompress and build trust A calm, predictable home ❤️ Someone committed to her ongoing medical care, including monthly Librela injections ⚖️ A home that will help her maintain a healthy, lean weight No children under 15 ️ And, preferably, a very comfortable dog bed

Libby may not be the dog who runs into your arms on the first meeting — and honestly, she would probably prefer that you didn't. But if you’re willing to let this little senior lady take things at her own pace, you may just earn yourself a devoted companion who is perfectly happy to spend her golden years right by your side.

Libby isn't looking for a perfect home. She's looking for the right one.

Her adoption fee is $200 and she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. If you can give this sweet, spicy, sassy girl the best end of her life she promises she will be thankful, maybe just not right away though. 8. Jesse

Adult · Female · Chihuahua · 31 mi from Goose Creek

Jesse is a 2 year old 8-lb Chihuahua mix with a big personality, strong opinions, and absolutely no interest in pretending she doesn’t know what she wants.

And what does Jesse want?

Men. Specifically, she would like a men-only household, and if there happen to be two daddies, well… she considers that the deluxe package.

Women? Jesse’s official review is basically: “They’re fine, I guess.” Men, however? Now we’re talking. ❤️

Read more about Jesse

This tiny girl is ready to find her forever home where she can be adored, spoiled, and treated like the important little celebrity she clearly believes herself to be. At only 8 pounds, she’s basically a travel-sized diva with a surprisingly large personality.

Jesse is:

8 lbs of Chihuahua-mix fabulousness
✂️ Spayed
Fully vaccinated
Microchipped
❤️ Heartworm negative
Adoption fee: $275

If you’re a gentleman—or, even better, two gentlemen with excellent taste in tiny dogs—Jesse may have already decided you’re her people.

9. Kodak

Adult (3 years 2 months) · Male · Poodle (Miniature) · 31 mi from Goose Creek

Kodak is a 3-year-old black mini poodle weighing in at a mighty 10 pounds of fluff, attitude, and excellent observational skills. He prefers to keep watch from the sidelines before deciding if the activity is worthy of his participation — very management material of him.

This little guy is cuddly, loyal, and loves lounging near his people, preferably somewhere soft and cozy where he can monitor the household like the tiny supervisor he was born to be. He’s friendly and affectionate, but Kodak does have a few inconsistent boundaries, so he’d do best with people who understand that sometimes tiny dogs contain very big feelings.

Read more about Kodak

Kodak is excellent on leash and happy to trot alongside you for errands, neighborhood walks, or wherever the day takes you. He’s not looking to climb mountains — he’s more of a “let’s stroll around town and then go home for snacks” kind of guy.

If you’re looking for a quirky little companion with loads of personality, expressive eyes, and just the right amount of sass, Kodak may be your perfect match.

He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm prevention, heartworm negative and ready to roll! His adoption fee is $400. Please use this link for the application to be approved for adoption:

Small dogs suit apartments and smaller homes, are easy to take along, and many live well into their teens.

They still need daily walks, play and training. Small dogs can be fragile, so ask the rescue how they are with young children, who can easily drop or step on them.
