*Meet Nyla — a sweet girl with so much love to give! **

Read more about Nyla
Nyla has a wonderful, easygoing personality. She’s not overly high-strung and is perfectly content to relax and rest during the day. She has a good appetite, knows some basic commands, and is a quiet girl overall. She may let you know when she hears something nearby, but she isn’t a dog who barks a lot unnecessarily.
More than anything, Nyla is looking for someone who will love her and give her the forever home she deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who will be happy to be by your side, Nyla may be your girl.
Nyla is ready to find her forever family and fill their home with love!

2. Salley
8 Years 11 Months · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Salley is 8-10 years old, 55 lbs
Salley is a sweet old gal who still has plenty of energy, desire, and curiosity to experience what it’s like to be in a loving home. Most of all, she loves staying close to her people so she can soak up as much attention and affection as possible.
Salley is very food-motivated and is always more than ready when mealtime rolls around! She happily enjoys treats and loves keeping a little collection of toys near her bed or enclosure. Her favorite pastime is carrying her special toys around so she can keep tabs on them.
Read more about Salley
She is both kennel trained and house trained, as long as she is given regular opportunities to go outside. Salley doesn’t mind being on a leash, but she does need some guidance to help steer her in the right direction—and safely out of the path of your feet! Her clumsy little steps are just part of her charm.
Salley is also interested in meeting other dogs, especially those with energy levels similar to hers. She seems eager to make friends, even if she hasn’t quite figured out how to play like a typical pup. With proper introductions, Salley has shown that she can be tolerant and comfortable around other dogs. She may, however, try to claim all the attention for herself—because who can blame her?
Once Salley knows she is safe and comfortable in her surroundings, she truly comes out of her shell and lets her goofy, clumsy personality shine. She still gets little bursts of energy that will make you wonder if she was ever anything other than a playful puppy at heart.
Salley may be a senior, but she has plenty of love left to give. All she really wants is a safe, loving home where she can stay close to her people, enjoy her meals and toys, and finally experience the love and attention she deserves.

His house training has improved significantly with guidance. He learns quickly and will benefit from continued training. He does experience some separation anxiety and will whine for approximately 10 to 15 minutes when left alone, though he is not destructive. He settles down well, remains quiet throughout the night, and is very happy to see you in the morning!
Overall, Midnight has been very easy to care for and is a real sweetie. He would do best with an active person/ family willing to invest in some training and provide him with regular exercise.
He should be in a home with another dog

5. Cookies and fudge bar mixed dach bonded pair
Dachshund (short coat)

THEY LOST EVERYTHING… BUT THEY STILL HAVE EACH OTHER.
Meet Cookie’s n Cream & Fudge Bar, two adorable Chiweenies and two of the sweetest little souls you could ever hope to meet.
These two came from a heartbreaking situation — 14 animals abandoned in a home with no power, no food and no water. They were eventually taken to the shelter, scared and confused, and we were able to take three of them into our rescue.
The third was our precious senior Chihuahua, Nana.
Sadly, Nana has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We loved her until her very last breath, and while we wish we could have given her years of happiness, we are so grateful that she got to experience love, comfort, soft beds, good food and kindness after everything she had endured.
Nana left this world knowing she mattered and knowing she was loved.
Now we want to give Cookie’s n Cream and Fudge Bar the happy hound tales they deserve.
And if there is ANY way possible, we want that ending to be TOGETHER.
Despite everything they have been through, these two are absolutely incredible dogs.

They are sweet, happy, gentle, easygoing and unbelievably resilient. They are so grateful for everything — a warm bed, a good meal, a kind hand and just a little attention.
They ask for so little and give back so much.

And together? They are just amazing. ❤️ ❤️
They are wonderful with other animals and people and could even do well with considerate older children. They are the kind of dogs who could fit beautifully into pretty much any loving home.
We rescue a lot of dogs, but we rarely get a pair this incredibly sweet and easy. There is something very special about these two.
They survived being abandoned together and
we would love nothing more than for the next door they walk through to be the door of their forever home — together.
Please consider opening your heart and home to Cookie’s n Cream & Fudge Bar.

6. Paisley dachshund mix
Dachshund (long coat)

Meet Paisley! She is a dachshund yorkie mix who is 12 years old and weighs 12 pounds. Paisley is spayed, had dental surgery(lost 4 teeth), and has some skin issues that we have treated with antibiotics and apoquel. She will most likely need to take the allergy meds her entire life and could possibly have some more skin issues down the road. Other than the skin issues, she is a very healthy girl and don't let her age fool you! Paisley is very active and super sweet!! No small children, that is why she was surrendered. Here is what her owner had to say about her to set her up for success in her new, forever home...
Read more about Paisley dachshund mix
She answers to Paisley, Paisley Anne, P, P Anne, and Pinot (Grigio)
Her birthday is 10-23-2014
She is chipped (I can send a picture of the info I have for that)
She does “fancy” which is the typical dachshund begging thing where she stands up on her back legs/butt
She also plays dead. You just have to “shoot her” and then say “Paisleys dead”
She likes cuddling but not so much petting since she’s so itchy. She will sleep on a pillow by your head.
She is good with cats she kinda just ignores them
She’s okay with other dogs as long as they’re not big. She gets small dog syndrome around bigger dogs
She likes toys until she “kills” the squeaker then she could care less
She’s house broken as long as you stay on top of letting her outside.
She won’t really run away if she gets out the door but she’s not the kind of dog to stay close by if that makes sense.
She does not like little kids.
She acts like she likes car rides until she gets in the car. Then she gets anxious and will whine most of the ride.
She is spayed (she has the little green tattoo on her belly)
She is crate trained and sometimes prefers to “hide” in one when she needs alone time.
I think that’s everything that I can think of. I trust she’s going to find the very best home. Thank you for taking her ❤️

Adopting a dog in York County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
